Latona Conant
Latona Bernice "Bea" Conant, 89, of Port Huron, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2004 in her residence unexpectedly.
She was born October 26, 1915 in St. Clair, daughter of the late Elizabeth and Lewis Arnold.
Bea married
Leslie Charles Conant on April 7, 1935 in Port Huron, he died May 26, 1977.
She was a member of the Community of Christ, Wadhams Grove Branch, St. Clair County Extension Group and a Girl Scout Leader of Troop 36 in 1948 and 1949. She was employed at the Chrysler Marysville plant from 1950 to 1952 and at Jack Ehlingers Interior Decorating as a drapery seamstress and upholsterer from 1960 to 1969. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed making quilts for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and church bazaars. She made many craft items and was well known for her hand painted Ceramic Nativity Sets.
Bea is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Bette Conant of Rush, New York; a daughter, Karen Marshall of Phoenix, AZ; daughter-in-law, Janette Conant, Port Huron; two grandsons, Brett Conant of Port Huron and Michael (Sandra) Conant of Port Huron; two granddaughters, Brenda (Pat) DiBenedetti of Rochester, New York and Vickie Conant of Rush, New York; seven great-grandsons, Ricci Eperson of Port Huron, Michael, Nicholas and Christopher DeBenedetti of Rochester, New York and Steve, Anthony, and Joseph Conant of Rush, New York; two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn Conant and Sarah Conant of Port Huron; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Conant, who died June 2004; eight brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street. Evangelist Harold Hastings will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Audrey Chappell
Audrey J. Chappell, age 75, of Lexington, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004 in Harper Hospital, Detroit, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 19, 1928 in Detroit and lived here in the area for the past 30 years.
She married
George E. Chappell on Jan. 4, 1947 in Detroit.
Audrey's joy in life was being with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, George E. Chappell of Lexington; her son, Dennis E. (Julie) Chappell of Macomb; her daughter, Susan E. Munford of Fort Gratiot; her granddaughters, Stephanie (John) Maraone of Macomb and Jennifer (Jamie) Duncan of Port Huron; her grandsons, Timothy Fair of St. Clair and Jason Munford of Port Huron; three great-grandsons; and her brother, Kenneth (Clare) Sprung of Lincoln, MI.
She was preceded in death by her son, Terry J. Chappell on June 15, 2004; and her grandson, Christopher Chappell on June 12, 1993.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's cemetery Chapel, New Baltimore. Deacon Tony Lewandowski of St. Mary Queen of Creation Church will officiate.
Arrangements are by Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Virgil Calabro
Virgil L. Calabro, 77, of Marysville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 in Mercy Hospital.
He was born June 17, 1927 in Pontiac and served in the U.S. Navy.
Virgil was a well known local car salesman before retiring to North Carolina.
He is survived by three children, Kathleen (Steven) Johnston of Grand Prairie, TX, Deborah (Michael) Turnbull of Marysville and Mark (Rebecca) Calabro of Sunfield, MI; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Pedersen of Marysville; six grandchildren, Steven Jr., Laura, Kristen, Lisa, David and Brendan; three sisters and a brother, Doris Evans, Robert Hutchins, Deanna Koebke and Donna Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felix Calabro; his mother, Lola Hutchins; a brother, Arthur Calabro; and a son, Gary Calabro.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St.
Burial will follow in Lakeside cemetery.
Visitation will be in the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 1 p.m. Thursday.
Contributions may be made in Virgil's memory to the Salvation Army.
Frederick Bowman
Frederick Charles Bowman, 68, of Kimball Twp., passed away on Friday, Oct. 15, 2004.
He was born on May 19, 1936, son of the late John and Hazel Bowman.
Frederick lived here all of his life. He was a retired professional welder most of his life and served in the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and Goldie, his cat.
He is survived by his three daughters and two sons-in-law, Genny and Kevin Caryl, Kim and Joe Lopiccolo and Brenda Gifford; four grandchildren, Kevin and Cory Caryl, Amanda Gifford and Joseph Lopiccolo; one great-grandson, Gage Caryl; his former wife, Donna; brothers, Bo and Bill; sisters, Mary, Joanne, Babe, Sharon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanor and Judy; brother, Pete; and son-in-law, Charlie Gifford.
At Frederick's request, no services are planned.

Yvonne Bonardi
Yvonne Irene Bonardi, 79, died Saturday, October 16, 2004, peacefully, after a long illness.
She was born December 8, 1924 in Bad Axe and lived in Port Huron all her life.
She married
Fred Bonardi on March 3, 1969 in Port Huron. He died July 16, 1983.
Mrs. Bonardi worked for All Star Vending for 20 years.
She is survived by her loving family which consists of her daughter, Pat (Don) Deachin; sons, Richard (June) Hearn and David (Bonnie) Hearn; daughters, Diane Reed and Debbie (Tom) Ropposch, all of Port Huron; son, Gregory (Joy) Hearn of Nevada; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; two sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. C. Paul Higdon will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visiting hours are 12 noon until the service time Monday at the funeral home.
Her grandchildren will serve as her pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
Mark Bodeis
Mark Paul Bodeis, 46, of Port Huron Twp., went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 11, 1958 in St. Clair.
Mark married
Teresa Boman on June 6, 1981 in Port Huron.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; Sons of the American Legion Charles Hammond Post #8; and the Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame. Mark was a landlord.
He had a love for life, family, friends, and will be sadly missed.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Teresa; his loving children, Joshua Paul, Cassandra Gail, Luke David and Marcella Susan Bodeis; his mother, Sandra (Jim) Frazer and father, Larry (Barb) Bodeis; his siblings, Mike and Gaye Bodeis, Tami and Dan Priestley and Marty and Kim Bodeis; step-brothers, Steve and Debbie, Matt and Laura, Jim and Tina Frazer; sisters-in-law, Gloria and Tom Rands, Linda and Larry Morden and Helen Marlatt; mother-in-law, Cathy (Will) Steinborn; a dear friend, Jeff Hapt; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 in Trinity Lutheran Church, 1517 10th St. The Rev. Robert H. Mann, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.
Visiting hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at the church.

India Bluska
India Anna Bluska, 75, of Port Huron, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital of emphysema.
She was born to Shelva and Edith Gibson on Dec. 3, 1928 in Wiota, Iowa and moved to Port Huron with her parents in 1943.
She was married
to Loren K. Bluska on Feb. 17, 1945 in St. John's United Church of Christ by The Rev. E.J. Soell.
India worked at Krogers and Marx Jewelers. She then owned and operated Bluska Meats with her husband, Loren, retiring after 20 years.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Loren K. Bluska; her three children, Diana S. (Thomas) Gillette of Port Huron, Lorna K. Benson of Sarnia, Ontario and Kenneth E. (Penny) Bluska of Port Huron; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three nieces; one nephew; many cousins; and her dearest friends of 50 years, the members of the Thursday Bridge Club.
Being the last of her family, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; two brothers; and a son-in-law, Gerald Benson.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh St. The Rev. William Terry of St. John's United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow in Caswell cemetery.
Visitation will be in the funeral home from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Kenneth L. Bluska, Kyle W.G. Bluska, Loren R. Doan, Tyler J. Gillette, Leticia A. Bluska and Lacey S. Benson.

Helen Bilina
Helen M. Bilina, age 86, of Port Huron, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 in Mercy Hospital following a long illness.
She was born Feb. 18, 1918 in Port Huron and was a life long resident.
She married
John Bilina. He preceded her in death July 13, 1970.
For 26 years Helen was a foster grandparent at Woodrow Wilson and Sparlingville schools in Port Huron and Gardens Elementary in Marysville. She was also a long time volunteer for the St. Clair County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years but had attended St. Christopher Church in Marysville lately.
She is survived by her son, Dennis J. (Marsha) Bilina of Marysville; her daughters, Paula M. Myers of Alma, MI and Priscilla V. (Ed Mason III) Locano of Ferndale, MI; eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael and Steven Bilina, Patrick (Jamie) Myers and Matthew Myers and C.J. (Sheila) Locano, Tara (Sam) Orlando and Tony Locano; great-granddaughter, Emily Locano; sister-in-law, Mamie Kwiatkowski of Marysville; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Lillian Zacharias of Marysville; and her faithful companion, Barney.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth J. Bilina; brothers, Adam and John Kwiatkowski; and her infant sister, Sophia Kwiatkowski.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Christopher Catholic Church, Marysville. The Rev. Arthur R. Baranowski, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
Visiting hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials are suggested to St. Christopher Catholic Church or the Foster Grandparent Program.
Margaret Biehn
Margaret E. Biehn, 94, died November 28, 2004 in Kansas City, Missouri, after an extended illness.
She was born July 30, 1910 to Adelaine and George Baumann, in Port Huron, Michigan, and lived there most of her life, moving to Wexford Place (and later New Mark Care Center) in Kansas City in the declining years of her life, so as to be near her daughter.
Margaret married
Harold N. Biehn on June 29, 1940, and was a devoted wife for 53 years. Her husband preceded her in death on October 12, 1993.
Margaret was a loving mother to Sandra (Mrs. Donald Breckon) of Kansas City, MO and grandmother to Lori (Mrs. Paul Hare), LeeAnne (Mrs. Tom Rice), Lisa (Mrs. David Jensen) and Wendy (Mrs. Phillip Greer) and seven great grandchildren, Rachel and Joshua Hare, Maddison and Samantha Rice, Kyrstin and Andrew Jensen and Torrie Greer, all of whom survive her. She is also survived by a sister, Lucille (Mrs. George Benner) and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brother Joseph Baumann, and sisters, Edith Jarvis (Mrs. Robert Jarvis), Pearl Bicknell (Mrs. Art Bicknell) and Pheobe Beck (Mrs. Leighton Beck).
Margaret was a life long member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church and Saint Anne's Guild.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at 11 a.m. in Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, 3201 Gratiot Avenue, the Very Reverend Charles E.N. Hoffacker presiding. Inurnment will be in Spring Hill cemetery in Fargo, MI.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, or to the American Cancer Society.
