Helen Hall

Helen E. Hall, 89, of Port Huron, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital after a short illness.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1915 in Berville, daughter of the late Fred and Millie Lathrop.

Helen married Elmer Hall on Aug. 26, 1938. He died earlier.

She was a beauty operator.

Helen is survived by a daughter, June B. Zochowski of Marysville; her daughter, Judy Hall of Oregon; son, Alan (Sandy) Hall of Texas; four grandchildren, Dean Zochowski, Darren (Sally) Zochowski, Laura (Matt) Steadham and Shannon Hall; six great-grandchildren, Kristina, Keith, Patricia, Katy, Jade and Jack.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dale Zochowski in 2001.

Memorial services will be held at noon Saturday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th St. Pastor Don Sperling, pastor of the River of the Christian Fellowship will officiate.

Burial will be in Berlin cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday in the funeral home.

Pauline Hollis

Pauline E. Hollis, age 79, of Marysville, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 in the home of her daughter, Cecila after a courageous battle of lung cancer.

She was born on Nov. 1, 1924 in Plainwell, MI, daughter of the late John and Harriett Barcume.

Pauline married Robert W. Hollis Sr. on Oct. 4, 1941. He died on Oct. 27, 1982.

She was an owner and operator of Hollis Adult Foster Care Homes for many years. She was a member of St. Clair County Community Mental Health Board for 18 years.

Pauline is survived by her four sons, Robert and Diane Hollis of Augres, MI, John Hollis of Hesperia, CA, James Hollis of Rialto, CA and Paul Hollis of Blythe, CA; three daughters, Linda and Bill Warsinski, LouAnn Marks and Cecila and Chuck Simmons, all of Marysville; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Zuehkle of Lansing; two brothers, John Barcume of Quartzite, AZ and Russell and Donna Barcume of Port Huron; sister-in-law, Jean Hollis of New Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Chester in 1953; and a sister, Mina Jean Campbell in January of 2004.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th St. Seventy Harley Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Christopher Hollis, Paul Hollis Jr., Scottie Hollis, Nicholas Hollis, Robert Warsinski, Heath Allen, Donald Hogsett and James Z. Hollis.

Memorial tributes may be made to Blue Water Hospice.

Marcel Goyette

Marcel R. Goyette, 70, of Port Huron Twp., passed away Saturday, May 15, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital.

He was born to Hector and Evon Goyette on Feb. 3, 1934 in Montreal, Quebec and married Annette M. Lavoie in May of 1954 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Marcel came to Port Huron in 1962 as a member of the Port Huron Flags Hockey Team. He played defense for the Flags from 1962 thru 1967 and was team captain when they won the Turner Cup in 1966. In 1963 he was named to the IHL All-Star 2nd Team and in 1965 he was named to the IHL All-Star 1st Team.

Prior to coming to Port Huron, he played in the IHL with the Louisville Rebels from 1957 to 1960 and with the Indianapolis Chiefs from 1960 to 1962 where he received the team's MVP award for the 1961-62 season.

Following his Port Huron career, Marcel played for the Columbus Checkers during 1968-69. In all, he played 585 regular season games and 43 playoff games in the IHL scoring 63 goals and receiving 288 assists.

After retiring from hockey, Marcel worked as a carpenter and was a member of Local 687. He loved to hunt and fish, and especially loved being with his grandchildren, Bridgette and Derek.

He is survived by his son, Hector Goyette of Port Huron Twp.; his two grandchildren, Bridgette and Derek Goyette; and his sister, Delcia Amyot of Montreal, Quebec.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette who passed away Nov. 13, 1999; his brother and five sisters, including Ida Penout who died one week ago.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2004 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St.

Visitation will be in the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and on Tuesday beginning at 1 p.m.

Contributions may be made in Marcel's memory to the National Kidney Foundation.

Russell Goudie

Russell W. Goudie, age 83, of Port Huron, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2004 in Evangelical Home after a long illness.

He was born Jan. 12, 1921 in Port Huron, son of the late John and Lucile Goudie.

Russell married Genevieve G. Tavern on March 26, 1942 in Sault Saint Marie, MI.

He served in the United States Navy as a Seabee during World War II. He retired from Mueller Brass Company after 38 years of service.

Russell was a carpenter, loved the water and was a former pilot on the Great Lakes. He was a loving grandfather.

Russell is survived by his wife, Genevieve Goudie of Port Huron; son and daughter-in-law, John and Ann Goudie of Kalamazoo; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Linda Goudie of Rome, New York; daughter, Margaret Goudie of Mt. Pleasant; daughter and son-in-law, Lucie and Mike DeLine of Marysville; son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Sandra Goudie of McAllen, Texas; adopted daughter, Sara (Mike) DeLong of Marysville; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Orville.

Private family services will take place.

Inurnment will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Cremation arrangements are by Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th St.

Memorial tributes may be made to the wishes of the family.

Robert Glyshaw

Robert R. Glyshaw, age 77, of Port Huron Twp., passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital after a long illness.

He was born Nov. 16, 1926 in Jackson, MI, son of the late Frank and Hazel Glyshaw.

Robert married Mary L. Evans in Wadhams. She passed away in 1976.

He served in the United States Army during World War II.

Robert was a member of the Smiths Creek Masonic Lodge #491 F&AM, HI Twelve Club and Smiths Creek Lions Club. He enjoyed his yard very much and his two dogs, Spirit and Tractor.

Robert is survived by his longtime companion, Rebecca Gordon of Port Huron Twp.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Glyshaw of Clyde Twp.; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Halina Glyshaw of Clyde Twp.; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Matthew) Benton, Jason Glyshaw, Justin (Elizabeth) Glyshaw, John (Amber) Glyshaw and Nicholas Glyshaw; four great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Payne; sister, Margaret (Richard) Klaus; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lyle and William Glyshaw.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th St. Brother John N. Seppo will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Justin Glyshaw, Nicholas Glyshaw, Rich Klaus, William Glyshaw, Jim Glyshaw and Keith Crane.

Honorary pallbearers will be John and Jason Glyshaw.

Smiths Creek Masonic Lodge #491 F&AM will have memorial services in the funeral home at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

St. Clair County Allied Veterans will conduct Military Honors.

Irene Giles

Mrs. Irene J. Giles, age 80, of Marysville, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2004 in Mercy Hospital.

She was born on February 29, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Edward and Lillian Revoldt.

Irene married George Giles. He died April 30, 1971.

Irene was a homemaker who loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed stamp collecting, crossword puzzles and making crafts.

Prior to her retirement she was employed as a cook for Cleo's Restaurant and Club Seaway.

She is survived by a daughter, Sara DeMolay of Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Linda Giles of Marysville; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Charla Giles of Oceanside, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Steve Tataliba of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter, Cindy Anderson of Marysville; six grandchildren, Tim (Sarah) Giles, Stefanie Giles, Larry Giles Jr., Heather Giles, Steven and Jennifer Grambau, Russell DeMolay, Debbie Slaydon; two great-grandchildren, TJ Giles Jr. and Madison Grambau; sister, Geraldine and William Freigruber of Florida; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street. Rev. Dennis Aho, pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church will officiate.

Inurnment will be in White Chapel cemetery in Tory, MI.

Visiting hours will be 6 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Memorial tributes may be made to the wishes of the family.

Rogelio Sanchez

Rogelio A. Sanchez, age 71, of Port Huron, died December 5, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital after a long ill- ness.

He was born September 13, 1933 in Mexico. He lived in the Blue Water area since 1966.

He married Antonia Alvarado on May 15, 1955 in Texas.

Rogelio drove a truck for many years for both Goodwill Industries and St. Vincent DePaul.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Antonia Sanchez of Port Huron; seven sons, Rogelio Sanchez Jr. of Texas, Uvaldo Sanchez and Jaime (Margie) Sanchez, both of Port Huron, Humberto (Alice) Sanchez of Capac, Car-los Sanchez, Henry (Shelly) Sanchez, and Julio Sanchez, all of Port Huron; two daughters, Anna (George) Cross of North Carolina and Teresa (Ernest) Castillo of Port Huron; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ramon (Juanita) Sanchez, and Manuel (Hortencia) Sanchez, both of Texas; and a sister, Ofelia (Louis) Gonzalez of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jose Sanchez.

The funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Catholic Church with The Rev. Fr. Stanley Wyczawski officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Hope cemetery.

His sons will be pallbearers.

Friends may visit today and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Smith Family Funeral Home - North, 1525 Hancock Street, and Thursday at church one hour before the funeral mass.

There will be a Rosary Wednesday at 7 p.m.
