Wellington A. "Bud" Pollock
Wellington A. "Bud" Pollock, 82, of Port Huron died Saturday, March 9, 2002, in Marwood Manor after a short illness.
He was born Aug. 9, 1919, in Port Huron and was a lifelong area resident. He married
Lena Lenore Schieman on April 26, 1941, in Port Huron.
Mr. Pollock retired in 1974 from Chrysler Corp. after 31 years of service. He was on the 1937 Port Huron High School football state championship team and was inducted into the Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Chrysler Golf Supervisors League and Seniors Bowling League.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford (Sue) Rashleigh of Welland, Ontario, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank K. (Nancy) Janssens of Port Huron; a son, Mr. and Mrs. John (Nancy) Pollock of Richmond; eight grandchildren, Shawn, Shannon and Stacey Robertson, John Pollock Jr., Todd Rosbury, Scott Hansen, Cheryl Dombrowski and Jennifer Hayes; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be Wednesday. The Rev. Arthur Habermehl of St. John's United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Barbara J. Muir
Barbara Jean Muir, 69, of Port Huron died Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Faith Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 17, 1932, in Chicago and had lived in Port Huron since 1937. She is the daughter of the late Virginia Emunson and Charles E. Beck.
She was married
to her former husband, James W. Muir, on Aug. 8, 1954, in Port Huron,
She was Port Huron High School's 1950 class secretary and graduated cum laude from Michigan State University in 1954 with a bachelor's degree. She taught school in Marysville.
In 1977, she moved to Arizona and returned to Michigan in 1987.
She was a member and deacon at First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by daughters, Sunnie J. Muir of Lexington, and Laurel L. Muir of Mancos, Colo.; son, James G. (Michelle) Muir of Port Huron; daughter, Heather L. (Ferd) Saunders of Richfield, Idaho; son, Brian C. (Elizabeth) Muir of Port Huron; grandchildren, Margaret V. Epley and Jeanette E.L. Doyle (Keith), both of Port Huron, Earl R. Bunn III of Texas, Saundra N. (Andrew) Metelits of Arizona, Joshua C. (Elizabeth) Muir of Port Huron, Felisha R. Muir and Zachariah D. Muir, both of Port Huron, Jeremy E. (Sharon) Muir of Alaska, Mindy N. Watson of Washington State, Courtney M. Muir and Tara J.A. Muir, both of Port Huron, and Christopher Saunders of Idaho.; great-grandchildren, Kimberly A. Jackson of Smiths Creek, Amanda M. Tyler, Danielle J.M. Doyle and Samantha L. Doyle, all of Port Huron, and Nathan Muir of Alaska; brothers, the Rev. Dr. David L. (the Rev. Elizabeth) Beck of Boise, Idaho and James L. (Susan) Beck of Wausau, Wis.; and stepbrothers, John C. (Yvonne) McColl of Port Huron and William McColl of Seattle.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Logan Mete-litz.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2002, in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street. The Rev. Dr. Mark Thomas, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
Walter R. Melms
Walter Russell Melms, 56, of Port Huron died Friday, March 8, 2002, in his home.
He was born April 28, 1945, in Royal Oak, the son of Walter and Elsie (Olson) Melms. He married
Judi C. Jackman, Nov. 10, 1967, in St. Edward's-On-the-Lake Catholic Church, Lakeport.
Mr. Melms was an auto mechanic for more than 25 years in Marysville and was working for Moran Motors in Fort Gratiot until his illness in 1999. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1963 and served his country in Vietnam in the U.S. Army with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. He was a leader for more than 10 years with Michigan Waterways Council of Girl Scouts and was former president and vice president of the Woodrow Wilson School PTA. He was a member of the Port Huron-Sarnia Stamp Club, the Sarnia Stamp Club, the Marysville Coin Club and the Motor City Stamp & Cover Club. He was a life member of DAV Chapter 8 and a life member of VFW May O'Brien Post 8465 where he was Quartermaster.
He is survived by his wife, Judi; a daughter, Denise R. Melms; a granddaughter, McKayla Rose Melms, all of Port Huron; two sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Christine) Cumerlato of Kimball and Mr. and Mrs. Adriaan (Lorraine) Vanderleun of Port Huron; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Elsie) Melms; sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Janice) McLaughlin of North Street and Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Judy) Rose of Kearns, Utah; a brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dick (Helene) Lonick of West Valley, Utah; aunts and uncles, Eugene Olson of Alanson, Eldora Nickel of Fenton, Mr. and Mrs. Elwin (Sandy) Olson of Reading, Blanche Melms of Fort Gratiot, Ethel Melms of Miami and Mabel Melms of Armada; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2002, in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. The Rev. Rene Desmarais of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of St. Clair County Allied Veterans.
Interment will be in Allied Veterans Columbarium, Port Huron.

Lavyonne McNutt
Lavyonne McNutt, 81, of Port Huron died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in her daughter's home surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Newport, Ark., and was a lifelong area resident.
She married
Shirley McNutt on June 22, 1938. He died Oct. 23, 1991.
She was employed at Prestolite Wire Co. for 38 years. Things she enjoyed included her grandchildren, gardening, birds, animals and traveling.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. and Al Nichol of Port Huron; their daughter, Christine (Scott) McNutt and their grandchildren, Steven and Maryanne of Lewisport, Ky.; their son, Daniel (Cathy) Nichol and their granddaughter, Amy, of Canton; their daughter, Melissa (Michael) Heck of Redford Township; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald (Judy) McNutt of Port Huron, and their children, Kenneth, Patricia and Michael and their families; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Connie Jo.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Aho, pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice or the Humane Society.
Charles L. McCoy
Charles L. McCoy, 71, of Port Huron went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2002.
He was born July 5, 1930, in Greenville, S.C.
He married
Ruby J. Phillips on Sept. 5, 1948, in Port Huron. She died Sept. 29, 2001.
Mr. McCoy was a supervisor with the St. Clair County Road Commission.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the Port Huron Men's Club, the Toppers Club, Central Star Lodge 23 F. & A.M. and Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory four daughters, Linda Allen and Victoria McCoy, both of Detroit, Melody McCoy of Los Angeles and Julie McCoy of Port Huron; three grandchildren, Donna Allen Wilson and her husband, Damon, Saundra Miller and Joseph Charles McCoy; two great-grandchildren; Damon Wilson II and Danielle Wilson; sister, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac (Pearl) Lang; brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Gwendolyn) McCoy and James Norris; a sister-in-law, Lillie Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles J. McCoy, and his parents, Howard and Clotell Jones McCoy.
Family hour will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2002, in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002, in Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Alex Crittendon will officate.

Ivan R. Maxwell
Ivan R. Maxwell, 82, of Port Huron died Friday, March 1, 2002, in Marwood Manor.
He was born May 26, 1919, in Carsonville to the late Henry D. and Winifred (Chisholm) Maxwell. He married
Mona Marion Revoir on March 27, 1951.
Mr. Maxwell retired in June of 1984 from Mueller Brass Company after 43 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an Elder and member of Community of Christ-Wadhams Grove Branch.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Jeffrey Maxwell of St. Charles, Mo.; a daughter, Bethany Maxwell of Port Huron; a granddaughter, Breeyn Maxwell of Port Huron; three sisters, Annabell Louth of Port Huron, Hazel Quandt of Peck and Helen Hussel of Algonac; three brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert (Vida) Maxwell of Port Huron, Mr. and Mrs. Delton (Ida Mae) Maxwell of Odessa, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey (Altena) Maxwell of Sandusky; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Community of Christ-Wadhams Grove Branch, 4920 Lapeer Road. Evangelist Harold Hastings will officiate.
Burial will be in Washington Township cemetery, Carsonville.

Robert A. MacRae
Robert Ardell MacRae, 80, entered eternal life Wednesday, March 20, 2002.
He was born in Port Huron, Jan. 29, 1922, the son of the late Alex R. and Ellen E. (Nichol) MacRae, and was raised by his sister, Vera G. Sullivan.
Robert married
Anne Korbel on Aug. 28, 1948, in Sarnia. He was a dear husband, a loving father and adoring grandfather, who also took pride in the accomplishments of his extended family of nieces and nephews.
Bob served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a tower operator in the China-India-Burma Theater, directing air traffic over "The Hump."
After working at several local plants and graduating from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Bob joined the U.S. Air Force. He was chosen for the Blue Suit program, which sent him to the IBM factory school in Kingston, N.Y., to train as a computer maintenance technician. His career took him to many interesting places, as he circumnavigated the globe in his World War II years, and then in the second enlistment was stationed in Berlin at the time of the Cold War and at the NATO base Ramstein in Germany. A later assignment took him to Woomers, Australia.
Bob had many interesting stories to tell of his experiences in the service and also of his growing up years in the First Ward.
Upon returning, Bob and his family moved back to his home town to enjoy Blue Water land. He was a faithful member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, enjoying the fellowship time with his church family. He bowled and golfed with the local senior leagues and was a member of the American Legion.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife of 53 years; his son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Christine MacRae; and grandsons, Joseph and Philip of Lapeer. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Beatrice MacRae, Eleanor Sperling and Mildred (Don) Wilkie; his special nephews, Lt. William Byers USN, Don Sperling and John Sperling; special nieces, Lynn Frazer, Carla Massabrio and Rose Sperling, who cared for him through his last illness, as well as other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by sister, Vera and brothers, Leroy and Eugene and a special niece, Patricia Byers.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street.
A service of thanksgiving for the life of Robert will be held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Sixth and Wall streets, at 11 a.m. Monday, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Rev. Donald Doerzbacher will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church or Blue Water Hospice.
Donald Kinney
Mr. Donald Kinney, 81, of Port Huron Township, died Monday, March 18, 2002, in his home after a short illness.
He was born Nov. 14, 1920, in The Pas, Manitoba, to the late Albert and Mildred Glass Kinney.
He married
Eleanor Horvath on Oct. 20, 1951, in Detroit.
Mr. Kinney retired from Local 58 IBEW of Detroit after 50 years of service. He was Port Huron Township's electrical inspector for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Donald Kinney of Port Huron and Ronald Kinney of Mass City; a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen (Mary) Corbett of Port Huron; two sisters, Mary Tippie and Ruth Heaslip, both of Port Huron; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Francis Kinney.
Private family services were held.
Service arrangements were by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
