Claudia Ruth Ball

Claudia Ruth Ball, 93, of Fort Gratiot died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in the Medilodge of Yale after a long illness.

She was born Feb. 25, 1909, in Gaffney, S.C., and has lived in Fort Gratiot for the past five years.

She married Rex Ball in 1939 in Chicago. He died in 1964.

Mrs. Ball graduated from high school in Plant City, Fla. She graduated from Florida Southern University with a bachelor's degree. She was a member of the P.E.O. Chapter 1, past-president of the D.A.R. and a 23-year member of the Illinois Chapter of U.D.C. Sumter, South Carolina Chapter.

She is survived by three sons, William (Lynne) Ball of Fort Gratiot, Rex (Betty) Ball of San Antonio, Texas, and John (Debbie) Ball of Alta Loma, Calif.; one daughter, Cathy Adamoyurka of Horsham, Pa.; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jones of Mexico City, Mexico; a special friend of 60 years, Liliane Collinsworth, of Sun City, Ariz., and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m. Friday in the Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. The Rev. Fanklin Bennett, assisting pastor of Grace Episcopal Church, will officiate.

A graveside committal service will follow at Lakeside cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Starpath Senior Day Care.

Helen L. Archer

Helen L. Archer, 85, of Kimball Township went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, after a long illness.

She was born March 27, 1917, in Port Huron to the late Albert and Lila McCallum.

Mrs. Archer was employed at Vincent's Plumbing and Heating prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Gratiot Park United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Walker (Mary Grace) Archer of Port Huron Township and Mr. and Mrs. Garry (Mary Lou) Archer of Marysville; six grandchildren, Walker (Anne) Archer, Kimberly (Skip) Hines, Kari (Kevin) Baker, Cathy Archer, Douglas (Nancy) Archer and Eric Archer; 12 great-grandchildren; and a half sister, Betty, and her family in Arizona.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph McCallum will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Walker, Douglas, Eric and Craig Archer, Kevin Baker and Skip Hines.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to con-sider Gratiot Park United Methodist Church or the Parkinson's Foundation.

Rosemary Ahles

Rosemary Ahles, 82, of Marysville died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, after a short illness.

She was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Port Huron to the late Byrth and Mary Trese.

She married Joseph L. Ahles on May 20, 1952, in Port Huron. He died June 1, 1991.

Mrs. Ahles was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church.

She is survived by three sons, Joseph B. Ahles of Marysville, Mr. and Mrs. Michael (Linda) Ahles of West Olive and Mr. and Mrs. Philip J. (Kristy) Ahles of Algonac; two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Barbara L.) Eastwood of Parkland, Fla., and Elizabeth Thoms and friend, Julie Glombowski; four grand- children, Thomas Eastwood, Matthew C. Thoms, Alecia Ahles and Joseph L. Ahles II; a sister, Beccy Nuske of Marysville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Brian Ahles, and two sisters, Johanna Porter and Margaret Parker.

Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Marysville Funeral Home. A Scripture service will be at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Mrs. Ahles will lie in state in St. Christopher Catholic Church, from 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, until the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. The Rev. Arthur Baranowski will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Port Huron.

Bernice M. DeRosia

Bernice M. DeRosia, 90, of St. Clair Township, died Sunday, September 29, 2002 in Marwood Manor after a long illness.

She was born December 28, 1911 in Greenwood Township to the late Arthur and Nellie (Palmateer) Wurzel. She married John DeRosia on March 21, 1952 in Detroit. He died April 6, 1977.

Mrs. DeRosia was employed as a bookkeeper at Winkelmans and as a receptionist/assistant for Dr. Enright and Dr. Gibson. She also worked for several businesses while living in Hale, Michigan for 17 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Clair.

She is survived by two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph (Karen) Ulrich of St. Clair and Mr. and Mrs. Jack (Beverly) Stuckert of Avoca; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and one brother, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford (LaVena) Wurzel. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilson Wurzel.

Visitation will be from 2-5 & 6-9 PM on Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Clair.

Burial will be in Springhill cemetery, Fargo. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ralph Ulrich III, John Stuckert, Charles Wahl, Jamie Alexander, Robert Kestner and Robert Teetzel.

Charlotte A. Rice Dandron

Charlotte A. Rice Dandron, 64, of Port Huron died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, in Port Huron Hospital after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

She was born Nov. 10, 1937, in Port Huron to Emory H. "Bud" and Katherine L. Rice and had lived here most of her life.

She married Calvin J. Dandron. He died Jan. 10, 1992.

She was a 1956 graduate of St. Stephen High School. She attended Port Huron Business College.

Charlotte retired from the former Diamond Crystal Salt Co. of St. Clair after more than 30 years of service.

She is survived by her mother, Katherine L. Rice of Port Huron; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard E. and Judith A. Rice of Port Huron; her son, Timothy Dandron of Port Huron; her daughter, Theresa Schrieber of Las Vegas; her stepdaughters, Debbie Wagg of Clyde Township and Kimberly Holtzberger of Port Huron; her stepson, Calvin Dandron Jr. of Calgary, Alberta; her special caregivers, Wayne and Cindy Brennan; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Emory H. Rice.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. C. Paul Higdon will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.

Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Robert C. Rice, Charles W. Rowse, Brian Wagg, Donald McCormick, John Paton, Wayne Brennan and David Curtis.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Association.

Gregory S. Cook

Gregory S. Cook, 48, of Kimball Township died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, in Port Huron Hospital following a long illness.

He was born March 1, 1954, in Port Huron, son of the late Marvin and Frances Cook.

Mr. Cook enjoyed euchre and was a umpire for the last five years for the Michigan Softball Association. He was a former employee of Bindicator and was a member of the Eagles and the Moose Lodge. He served in the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his lifelong companion, Jainet Caldwell of Port Huron; his stepsons, Gerald and Ian Caldwell of Port Huron; two granddaughters, Tashiana and Octavia of Port Huron; his stepmother, Barbara J. Cook of Port Huron; his brother, Terry L. Cook of Port Huron; his sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Ed Lester of Kimball; his stepsister and brother-in-law, Shelly and Chad Holly of Florida; his stepbrother, Andy McConnell of Port Huron; several nieces and nephews, including Kyle Nolan Cook; several cousins and aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin L. Cook, who died in 1999.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street. The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will be in Caswell cemetery.

Visiting hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

St. Clair County Allied Veterans will conduct Military Honors.

Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.

Patricia Smith

Patricia A. Smith, 64, died September 17, 2005 in Port Huron Hospital.

She was born June 30, 1941 in Lansing, MI and has lived here most of her life.

She married David L. Smith on May 18, 1963 in St. Stephen's Church.

Patricia graduated from St. Joseph Mercy Nursing School in 1962 and received her master's degree from Central Michigan University. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital and later as an instructor in the nursing department at St. Clair County Community College for 31 years from which she retired in 2002.

She was active in the Lunch Buddy Program and was dedicated to her family, especially her four grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by her husband, David L. Smith of Port Huron; her children Brian D. Smith of Charlotte, NC, Kevin M. (Maria) Smith of Rochester Hills, Lori L. (Anthony) Frazier of Port Huron, and Sheila A. Smith of St. Clair Shores; her grandchildren, Cameron F. Anthony, Emily A. Anthony, MacKenzie K. Smith, and Nicholas D. Smith.

Patricia was the oldest of her seven siblings.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Kathleen and Ernest Stuart; and her sister, Mary Holcolmb.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Stephen's Church. The Rev. C. Paul Higdon will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Visiting hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at KarrerSimpson Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. this evening.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and Blue Water Hospice.

Neil H. Davis

Neil H. Davis, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, in Holt.

Mr. Davis was born to Harlan and Amy Davis on Nov. 25, 1913, in Port Huron, graduated from Port Huron High School, Port Huron Junior College and attended the University of Michigan. On Oct. 10, 1936, he married Marie Branagan in Port Huron.

He was a member of First Congregational Church, Port Huron, and served on the Board of Trustees. He was President and Treasurer of F. Yeager Bridge & Culvert Co. Inc. and served many years on the Port Huron Hospital Board, Salvation Army Advisory Board and YMCA Board. He was also a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Port Huron and a member of the Port Huron Development Corp. He was a member and past Master of Pine Grove Lodge 11 F.&A.M.; member of Huron Chapter 27 RAM, Port Huron Commandery 7; and the Bay City Consistory.

Mr. and Mrs. Davis retired to Fort Myers, Fla., in 1979.

Neil is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Marie B. Davis; his son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Jean Davis of Vestaburg; his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Robert Fallin of Overland Park, Kansas; five granddaughters, Dawn (Troy) Machiela of Ada, Amy (Clifford) Dubois of Oregon, Ohio, Jennifer (William) Konen of Overland Park, Kansas, and Ashley and Jessica Fallin, both of Overland Park, Kansas; one great-granddaughter, Maia Machiela; and two nephews, Dr. James Paulson of Grinnell, Iowa, and Dr. David Carter of Arlington, Va.

Cremation has taken place. A service in Neil's memory will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, in the All Faiths Chapel of First Congregational Church. The Rev. Dr. Ronald Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday in the church.

Contributions may be made in Neil's memory to First Congregational Church.

Arrangements are by Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St.
