Shirley Brown

Shirley A. Brown, age 65, of Lakeport, passed away on Feb. 7, 2005 in Port Huron Hospital Unexpectedly.

She was born January 17, 1940 in Wichita, Kansas and has been an area resident since 1956.

She married John S. Brown in 1965 in Wichita, Kansas.

Shirley was a life long member of N. Lakeport Wesleyan Church. She collected coins, Precious Moments and enjoyed doing puzzles. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, John S. Brown, Lakeport; daughter, Jackie Longlanais, Texas; son, Ronald (Deborah) Fuller, Lexington; daughter, Sharon (Mark) Hodgkins, Maryland; son, Rickey (Dorothea) Fuller, Croswell; son, John David Brown, Lakeport; son, David (Nancy) Brown, Annapolis, MD; grandchildren, Matthew, Brandi, Caleb and Meghan; sisters, Delores, Maxine and Irene; brothers, Harold, Henry, Wayne and Charles.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday in North Lakeport Wesleyan Church. The Rev. Drew Mills, Senior Pastor will officiate.

Burial will take place in Burtchville Twp. cemetery.

Her sons and grandsons will serve as her pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to North Lakeport Wesleyan Church.

David Hall

David E. Hall, 54 of Port Huron, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital following a short illness. He was born August 29, 1949 in Centerline, MI and has lived in Port Huron the past four years.

Years ago David served in the U.S. Army. Recently he owned and operated his own barbershop, Dave's Haircuts. He enjoyed working on his yard and around the house.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Lewis; his twin brother, Daryll Hall; a brother, Ross Lewis; and a sister in law, Sue Williams. He was preceded in death by another brother, George Williams.

The funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004 in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh Street. Pastor David Mattocks of Life Touching Ministries, will officiate. Visitation is in the funeral home on Sunday, April 25, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Contributions may be made in David's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.

Geraldine N. Hubble

Geraldine N. Hubble, 58, of Clyde Township passed away Thursday, April 19, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital.

She was born July 30, 1942 in Yale, Mich.; graduated from Yale High, School in 1960; and married Lloyd Hubble on June 1, 1967 in Port Huron.. He passed away, one month ago on March 19, 2001.

Geraldine was formerly employed at St. Clair Metals. Her grandchildren were a very important part of her life. She also enjoyed bingo, board games, country music, her pansies, and cards, especially euchre.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Singles of Clyde Township and George (Diana) Hubble of Fort Gratiot; three step-children, Charles Hubble of Burtchville Township, Robin (Phillip) Wetzel of Port Huron Township, and Scott Hubble of Port Huron; six grandchildren, Stacie Norton, Richard Hubble, Nina Hubble, Charlie Hubble, Ashley Stein, and Lisa Purdue.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Lois Maxwell; her daughter, Brenda Jean Singles; and her twin brother, Jerry Donald Foshie.

The funeral service will be at 11a.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, in Smith Family Funeral Home, South. The Rev. David Caswell, pastor of Northgate Bible Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mark Hubble, Leonard Jewel, Phillip Wetzel, Harvey McKenzie, Dwayne Rich and Jeff Vanderpool.

Memorial contributions may be made in Geraldine's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.

R. Gale Johnson

Mr. R. Gale Johnson, 69, of Manistee, formerly of Livonia died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 in Manistee Medical Care Facility.

He was born July 5, 1931 in Port Huron to Herbert J. and Mary Johnson. He married Kathleen Roy November 11, 1995 in Onekama, Michigan.

Mr. Johnson was an Structural Engineer with Whitehead & Kales prior to his retirement. He served with the U. S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict and also served in the reserves until 1956. He was a member of Onekama Church of Brethren and Marysville Lodge #498 F. & A.M.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; three daughters, Mr. & Mrs. Daniel (Wendy) Hill of Redford, Mr. & Mrs. Phillip (Tamara) Wallace of Rantoul, Illinois, and Mr. & Mrs. Arthur (Tina) Carter of Whitmore Lake; a son, Mr. & Mrs. Michael (Karen) Johnson of Howell; eight grandchildren, Joshua Hill, Bradley and Nicholas Wallace, Michelle, Maria, and Melissa Carter, Chelsea Johnson and Shiloh Johnson; two step children, Suzanne (Mark) Lentych, and Richard Howell; three step grandchildren, Jessica, Meghan and Kade; his mother, Mary Johnson Woodruff of Port Huron; a sister, Mr. & Mrs. Carl (Barbara) McCormick of Sage Lake; seven nieces and nephews; and thirteen grand nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert in 1960.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM on Wednesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

A Memorial service will be held at 12:00 on Thursday, April 5, 2001 in First Baptist Church of Marysville with visitation from 11:30 AM until the time of service. Dr. John Jelinek will officiate.

Burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery, Algonac.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Onekama Church of Brethren Building Fund, Gideons International or Manistee Ducks Unlimited.

Steve Kalinoff

Steve Kalinoff, 66, of Columbus Township died Sunday, April 1, 2001, in his residence after a short illness.

He was born Oct. 20, 1934, in Detroit, the son of the late Evan and Mary Kalinoff. He married Erdeen D. Gougeon on May 24, 1969, in Port Huron.

He served in the US. Navy. He was a pipefitter for Local 636. He enjoyed motorcycles and his Harley Davidson. He was a racer for several years. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 8.

He is survived by his wife, Erdeen; four children, Steve and Mike Jackson, Monica Thompson and Patsy Gougeon; six grandchildren; one brother; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special uncle, Glenn Ragan.

Funeral services will be noon Friday, April 6, 2001, in Jowette Funeral -Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave, at 17th Street. Pastor Don Sperling will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, in Detroit.

Visiting hours are 10 a.m. to noon Friday.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews.

The St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council Will oversee military honors.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Blue Water Hospice.

Harry D. Kleinstiver

Harry D. Kleinstiver, 87, a lifelong resident of Port Huron died Monday, April 2, 2001.

Harry retired from Mueller Brass Co. after 35 years of service. He was married to his beloved wife, Lauretta, for 67 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lauretta; his only son, Robert Kleinstiver of Bloomfield; five grandchildren, Ronald, Richard, Robert, Jane and Randy; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Rene L. Desmarais, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.

Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A rosary will be said at 8 p.m.

Memorials are requested to the Newman Center.

William Gilbert

William E. Gilbert Sr., 73, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, in his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 31, 1930, the son the late James and Mary Gilbert.

He married his high school sweetheart, Joy Hersback, on July 28, 1951.

Bill was a member of the Port Huron High School Class of 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He attended St. Clair County Community College and Wayne State University. He retired from the Michigan Department of Treasury where he worked as an auditor. He and his wife, Joy, started Gilbert Tax Service in 1984.

Bill donated his time to many organizations. He was past president and active member of the Port Huron Figure Skating Club, was a U.S. Figure Skating Association judge, PTA member, Elks Lodge 343 member and a Boy Scout den father.

Loving his wife, children and grandchildren and entertaining family and friends at his pool was Bill's passion.

He will be sadly missed by his wife; children, Sandra and Scott Magneson, William and Bonnie Gilbert of Port Huron; grandchildren, James and Daniel Gilbert, Kyle Magneson, Darin Magneson and his fianceé, Laura Litke; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Toots) and Emil Dean; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Jean Tunningly; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Murray and Catherine Toles; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Gilbert, and sister, Ellen Tunningly.

Visitation will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, in the Jowett Funeral Home.

Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill's name may be made to the Port Huron Figure Skating Club, Blue Water Hospice, or the wishes of the family.

Helen G. Keller

Helen G. Keller, 87, of Port Huron died March 19, 2001, in Marwood Rehab and Nursing after a short illness.

She was born April 19, 1913, in River Rouge to the late Edward and Elizabeth Barch.

She was a registered nurse in Flint for many years.

She is survived by daughters, Cynthia Wilcome of Port Huron and Diane Cholke of Chicago; eight grandchildren, Lucinda (Lane) Smith, Elizabeth Wilcome, Luke Wilcome, Tom Cholke, Linc Cholke, Marla (Bill) Wallen; Steve Gallwitz and Michael Gallwitz; two greatgrandchildren; and sister Margaret Virgin of Brooklyn, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Gallwitz, , in March 2000.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m.Thursday, March 22, 2001, in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. StanleyWyczawski, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, will officiate.

Madelyn M. MacDonald

Madelyn M. MacDonald, 68, of Port Huron, died Saturday, march 24, 2001, in her home. She was born October 8, 1932, in Goodells to the late Walter and Edna Boyce Sparling. She married Stanley R. MacDonald on August 26, 1961, in Detroit. He die din 1987.

Mrs. MacDonald enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, going to bingo and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Richard McConnell of Kimball, Betty (Ronald) Jawor, Karen MacDonald and Edward MacDonald, all of Port Huron; six grandchildren, Tammi Jawor, Roni-Lynn (Matthew) Duckworth and Charles, Chad, Christopher and Crystal McConnell; a great-granddaughter, Courtni Jawor; four sisters, Theola (Gerald) Pearson of Burtchville Township, Jean (Carl) Jahn of Goodells, Evelyn Jahn of Croswell, Shirley Houle of Florida and Velma (Dwight) Blatt of Fort Gratiot; two brothers, Orvall (Charlotte) Sparling of Fort Gratiot and Walter. (Lucille) Sparling of Burtchville Township; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Margaret Garlick.

She was preceded in death by a son, Russell, and a grandson, Cody McConnell.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

A service of remembrance will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Pastor Paul Parker of the Free Methodist Church in Lapeer will officiate.

Interment will be in Caswell cemetery, Kimball Township.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
