Walter Brown
Walter Brown, 77, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2005.
He was born to the late Anderson and Olivia Brown on June 7, 1928 in Detroit, MI and he attended school in the Detroit area.
Mr. Brown loved going to the Birchwood Mall to walk and meet new people. He was a member of New Covenant Life Ministries where he attended for five faithful years after joining in the July of 1998.
He leaves to mourn his lifelong companion, Maggie Dell Stewart; five sons, David, Harvey, Mark, Carlos and Douglas Stewart, all of Port Huron; one daughter, Darlene (Robert Lee) Reardon of Clinton Twp.; three stepchildren, Christine Norman, Shirley Moore, and Warren Stewart; 17 grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren; one brother, Robert (Grace ) Brown of Detroit; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tarlene Stewart; a brother, George Brown; and a grandson, James Norman Jr.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2005 in New Covenant Life Ministries Church, 13th and Lapeer. Pastors William and Veter Nichols will officiate.
Burial will follow in Lakeside cemetery,
Visitation will be in Smith Family Funeral HomeSouth, 1230 Seventh St. on Thursday, July 21, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Joseph P. Carpa
Joseph P. Carpa, 41, of Marysville died unexpectedly Saturday, March 24, 2001, in his home.
He was born May 30, 1959, in Port Huron to John and Jean Marie Desero Carpa and was a lifelong area resident.
Joe was a member of the Marysville High School Class of 1977. He was an automotive parts salesman for many years.
Joe was an avid bowler and rolled a perfect 300 game on Feb. 24, 1989. He also enjoyed golfing, race cars and motorcycles.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John (Jean Marie) Carpa of Marysville; a brother, John (Shalene) Carpa Jr., of Marysville; two sisters, Cindy (Don) Riesbeck of Newark, Ohio and Vicki (Dale) Middleton of North Street; seven nieces and nephews, Jonathan Lents, Krystal Watkins, Kristin Eldridge, Jody Carps Kirsten Riesbeck Eric Riesbeck and Ashley Eldridge; a great-nephew James Ryan Watkins; stepdaughter, Michelle Pionk, and best friends, Craig Mlejnek and Bill Bryan and "dog."
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2001, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Horne.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home The Rev. William Wingrove will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dale .Middleton, Don Riesbeck, John Carpa Jr., Jonathon Lents, Craig Mlejnek and Mark Burkhardt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Bryan and Charles Steele.
Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Presbyterian Church or the Humane Society.
Mary Lou Cornette
Mary Lou Cornette, age 56, of Port Huron Twp., passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2001 in Port Huron Hospital after a long illness.
She was born November 23, 1944 in St. Clair. Mary Lou was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She worked as a switchboard operator/receptionist at LDM Technologies. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Lyle H. (Heather) Cornette of North Street, Melody Brown of Troy, Ohio, Richard Cornette of Port Huron, grandchildren, Stefanie and Pamela Cornette of North Street, and Nicholaus, and Kaitlin Cornette of Port Huron, and Amanda and Evan Brown of Troy, Ohio, three sisters, Virginia Friederichs, Rosie Distelrath, and Diane Laming, four brothers, Herb, Art, George, and Bill Ellery, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Ruth Ellery, and her brother Bob Ellery.
The funeral service will be held at 10 AM Friday in the Smith Family Funeral Home - South, 1230 7th Street with The Rev. Fr. Edward Ritter pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in St. Clair officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick and Lyle Cornette, Phil Carroll, Tom Dobson, Larry Goulette, and Gary Brown.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday, April 18, 2001, from 2-4 and 6-9 PM. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the family.
Virginia Semrow
Virginia A. Semrow, age 80, of Burtchville, died Friday, May 4, 2007 in Port Huron Hospital after a three year battle with lung cancer.
She was born December 7, 1926 in Port Huron, the oldest of six children to Willis and Helen Semrow. She was a life long resident of the Port Hu- ron area.
Virginia graduated from St. Stephens High School in 1945. She was a Secretary at the City Attorney's office retiring in 1982.
She was an avid reader, and always encouraged her chil- dren and grandchildren to read.
Virginia was loved by many people, and was generous to everyone she met, even first time acquaintances.
She is survived by her son, David G. Semrow of Burtchville; three granddaugh- ters, Katie Hartman of Bowling Green, Ohio, Lacey Hartman of Marion, Ohio, and Sara Schmittroth of Berkley, Michi- gan; three sisters, Helen Jane (Frank) Wyss of Ruby, Mary Joan Costello of Pennsylvania, and Betty Cook of Port Huron; and a son-in-law, John Schmittroth of Southfield.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Jane Semrow and Linda Schmittroth; a son, Mark Semrow; and her former hus- band George Semrow.
A funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. Tuesday (5/8) in the Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock Street with The Rev. Max Amstutz officiating.
Friends may visit beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday (5/8) until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made at the discretion of the donor.
Jennie May Carr
Mrs. Jennie May Carr, 94, of Port Huron ended her earthly pilgrimage on Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in her daughter's home in Lansing.
She was born June 28, 1906, in St. Clair to the late Charles and Edith Kniffen Ralston. She married
D. Gordon Carr on Jan. 29, 1927, 1 in St. Clair. He died Sept. 29, 1982.
Mrs. Carr loved children and taught Sunday school for many years at Griswold Street Baptist Church where she was a longtime member.
She is survived by three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Edith) Carr of Nashville, Mich., Mi. and Mrs. David (Dorothy) Carr of Fort Gratiot Township and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel (Sandra) Carr of Alma; three daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Jean) Campbell of Marine City, Nancy Orr of Fort Gratiot, and Helen Carr of Lansing; 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Rood of St. Clair.
She was preceded in death by a brother, J. Wilkin Ralston; a sister, Dolly Lindsey; and a grandson, John F. Orr
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2001, in Griswold Street Baptist Church, Port Huron. The Rev. Daniel T. Stewart will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot Township,
Mrs. Carr's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Kenneth Fred Cornwell
Kenneth Fred Cornwell, 82, of Part Huron died Thursday, March, 29, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital.
He was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Applegate to the late Fred and Nancy Studaker Cornwell and had lived in Port Huron for the past 40 years.,
He attended Colonial Woods Missionary Church.
Mr. Cornwell is survived by his sister, Leona Marie Cornwell, .and And many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2001, in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Pollock- Funeral Home. The Rev. Stanley W. Liechty of Colonial Woods Missionary Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Washington Township cemetery, Carsonville.
Curtis W. Goodwin
Mr. Curtis W. Goodwin, 62, of Marysville, died Thursday, March 15, 2001 in Port Huron Hospital after a short illness.
He was born October 31, 1938 in Clyde Township, to the late Frank S. and Sarah (Badgerow) Goodwin. He married
Sondra Carpo December 7, 1963 in Port Huron.
Mr. Goodwin retired from the Maintenance Department at E.B. Eddy Paper Company in July of 2000 after thirty-eight years of service . He served with the United States Army in 1958 and 1959 in Germany. Mr. Goodwin was a big baseball fan, liked being outdoors and doing lawn work and loved his dog Misty.
He is survived by his wife, Sondra; three sons, John Goodwin of Port Huron and Michael and Andrew Goodwin both of Marysville; two grandchildren, Johnny Goodwin of Independence, Kentucky and Joshua Goodwin of Port Huron; five sisters, Gladys May of Port Huron, Virginia Atkins of Ruby, Mr. & Mrs. Ernest (Florence) Warsinski of Kimball Township, Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth (Myrtle) Diem of Marysville and Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth (Barbara) Sparr of North Street; five brothers, Mr. & Mrs. Eugene (Gerry) Goodwin of Lexington, Mr. & Mrs. Clarence (Beverly) Goodwin of Croswell, Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) Goodwin of Berkley, Fred Goodwin of Port Huron and Mr. & Mrs. Calvin (Geisalle) Goodwin of Missouri; sister-in-law, Irene Goodwin of Port Huron and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by three brothers Lee, Walter, and Bert Goodwin.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2001, and 2-4 & 7-9 Sunday at Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2001 in Marysville Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Thuftedal of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating.
Burial will be in Riverlawn cemetery, Marysville. Pallbearers will be his sons, John, Michael and Andrew, grandson, Joshua and nephew David Atkins. Honorary Pallbearer will be grandson, Johnny.
Military Honors will be conducted under the Auspices of St. Clair County Allied Veterans.

Maryann Sylvia Goodman
Maryann Sylvia Goodman, 43, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 29, 2001, in, Mercy Hospital. She was born Dec. 6, 1957, in Detroit. She married
Thomas A. Goodman.
She was a member. of the South Port Huron Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a graduate of Baker College and was employed at Lionel Trains. She was a devoted mother and faithful wife.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas A. Goodman Sr. of Port Huron; his sons, Todd Goodman Port Huron, Thomas A. Goodman Jr. of Lebanon, Indiana, and Mark Goodman of Port Huron; his daughter, Angela Goodman of Port Huron; her parents, Clifford and Lenore Keeton of Capac; and her sisters and brothers, Kevin, Steve, Laura and Betty.
Memorial services will be 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 7, 2001, in South Port Huron Kingdom Hall, 2761 Yeager St., at 32nd Street.
Any memorials or flowers may be delivered to South Port Huron Kingdom Hall.
Cremation arrangements are by Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street.
James Floyd Hixson
James Floyd Hixson, 70, of Smiths Creek died unexpectedly Saturday, April 7, 2001, in his home.
He was born Dec. 3, 1930, in East Huntington, Pa., the son of the late Louis and Lula Hixson.
He married
Rose M. Kurth on June 12, 1953, in Pennsylvania.
He was a retired millwright for OHM Manufacturing Co. and General Motors Corp. He was a member of the Warren Eagles.
Mr. Hixson is survived by his wife, Rose Hixson of Smiths Creek; his son, Jim Hixson of Smiths Creek; his daughter and *son-in-law, Sharon and David Mahalak of Kimball Township; two grandchildren, - Steve Popowiecki and Jennifer Mahalak; his brother, Ed Hixson of Tarrs, Pa.; his sister, Emma Morvosh of Tarrs, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Lucas of Columbus Township, Beverly Burkhart of Macomb Township and Norma Keyes of Clinton Township.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Shogan.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2001, in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street. Pastor Don Sperling will officiate.
Visiting hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2001, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
