Gerald H. Bellinger
Gerald H. "Jerry" Bellinger, 84, of Port Huron died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, after a long illness.
He was born June 6, 1916, in Chassel, and had lived here most of his life.
He was employed with City Dairy and then with London's Dairy for 25 years until his retirement. He played ball for City Dairy. He also played ball and bowled for London's.
He 'Was a member of LOOM 158 and a former member of BPOE 343.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille M. "Babe" Bellinger of 'Port Huron; his daughters, Beth (Doyle) Hoffard of Wyllie, Texas, and Kathy (Eddie) Lederer of, Plano, Texas; his stepson, Gary (Sarah.) Ullenbruch of Port Huron; his stepdaughter, Nadine (Bill) Nowicki of Port Austin; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; half brother, Fred Duncan of Port Huron; and sisters-in-law, Vivian Bellinger of Port Huron and Joan (Frank) Ferland of Webster, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by a, son, Bill Bellinger, on Oct. 23, 1992; a stepson, Vern Ullenbruch, on July 25, 1981; and a brother, Floyd Bellinger, on June 8, 1992.
Funeral services will be noon Friday in St. Stephen Catholic 'Church. The Rev. David J. Lesniak, pastor of St. Stephen, church, will officiate. Burial will, be in Mount Hope cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home., A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today.
William H. Brahany, Jr.
William H. Brahany Jr. died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1916, in San Antonio, Texas. His parents were William and Vivian Brahany.
Bill spent most of his life in Port Huron and graduated from Port Huron High School. He went to Northwestern University for two years then transferred to the University of Missouri. He spent several years in the Army as a staff sergeant and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge.
Bill worked for Skilsaw in Chicago before he went in the Army, where he met his wife Lorraine. They were married
oil June 19, 1943, at the Forest Glenn Congregational Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two sons who live in Texas, William "Buzz" (Susan) Brahany III and Jim (Linda) Brahany; three grandchildren Tamara, Courtland and Charlotte; and one great-grandchild.
He was a member of the Port Huron Board of Education for a number of years, during which time he served as board president.
He had also been an active member of the Silver Stick Association. He was an active member of Pine Grove Lodge 11 F&AM; life member, past high priest and past secretary of Royal Arch Masons; and past commander and recorder of' Knights Templer. He was also a member of the Moslem Shrine, past president and secretary of the Blue Water Shrine Club and served as a member and secretary of the Port Huron Masonic Temple Association. He served as past president and chaplain of the High Twelve Club.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in First Congregational Church. The Rev. Dr. Robert E. Starkey, senior minister, will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
Visitation will be noon until 2 p.m. in the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church, Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children or the Knights Templer Eye Foundation.
Arrangements are by the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Laurel Clark
Laurel F. Clark, 78, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003 in Escondido, California, of cancer.
He was born Feb. 17, 1925 in Croswell and married
Alice Reid in 1948 in Port Huron.
He was employed with the City of Vista, CA Street Department as supervisor and retired after 25 years.
He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Clark of Fort Gratiot; daughter, Laura Caustin of Escondido, CA; granddaughter, Kristine Caustin of San Diego, CA; grandson, Michael Caustin of Escondido, CA; sisters, Jean Linder of Port Huron, Lorraine Matthews of Croswell and Shirley Stencel of Kansas; brothers, Lawrence Clark of Farwell, Donald Clark of Croswell and Leslie Clark of Lexington.
Burial will be in Kinney cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Smith Family Funeral Home-North.
Ronald Howe
Ronald M. Howe Sr., age 60, of Avoca died Monday, March 14, 2005 in Port Huron Hospital after a short illness. He was born July 1, 1944 in Port Huron, and lived in the area for most of his life.
He married
Wilma Dulyea on September 17, 2003 in Goodells.
He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 400, the American Quarter Horse Association, Buckskin Horse Association, and was a former member of the Port Huron Mototcycle Club. Ron enjoyed raising, showing, and riding horses, as well as being with his family.
He is survived by his wife Wilma Howe of Avoca; two daughters, Sharon Mathews of Yale, and Kristine Howe of Marysville; five sons, Ronald (Denise) Howe Jr. of Clyde Twp., Larry (Tina) Howe of Kimball, T.J. Howe of Port Huron, Donald Howe of Avoca and Samuel Howe of Port Huron; numerous grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; four brothers, and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Smith Family Funeral Home-South 1230 7th Street with The Rev. Tracie Loffhagen pastor of All Saints Episcopal Church in Marysville officiating.
Ena A. Coleman
Ena A. Coleman, 96, of Goodells passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001 in Marwood Manor Nursing and Rehab.
She was born to Moses and Lydia Kitchen on Nov. 1, 1904 in Goodells where she attended school, and also lived for most of her life. Her husband, Henry E. Coleman, passed away in November of 1976.
She is survived by her brother, C.M. Kitchen; her sister-in-law, Eva Kitchen; and two nephews, Floyd D. Kitchen and James R. Kitchen.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Vanderlip, Melvin and Floyd Kitchen and her sister, Vina Johnson.
The funeral service will, be noon Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ena's memory to Goodells Bible Church.
Gertrude Cushman
Gertrude "Trudy" Cushman, 85 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, in Largo, Fla.
Trudy was born in Holland, Mich. She married
Forest "Les" Cushman on June 28, 1942.
She was a Port Huron resident from 1941 to 1976 and worked for many years in the Port Huron Area School District. She taught fourth grade at Jefferson Elementary School. Her love for her pupils and teaching was reflected by the high regard in which she was field by her former pupils.
Trudy was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Huron and later the First Presbyterian Church of Croswell.
She is survived by her husband, Forest L. Cushman; a daughter, Karen (Jon) Lingemann; a son, Robert (Martha) Cushman; grandchildren, Mark (Jennifer) Lingemann, Tracy Lingemann, Amy Cushman and John (Kristina) Cushman; two grQat-grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine Michmerhuizen.
Trudy will be greatly missed by her family.
A memorial service is planned at 11 a.m. May 19, 2001, in the First Presbyterian Church of Croswell.
Bernard J. Denney
Bernard J. Denney, 48 of Fort Gratiot Twp., died Friday, April 06, 2001 at home following a year long battle with cancer. He was born October 19, 1952 in Flint and grew up in Port Huron, graduating from Port Huron Northern High School in 1971. He married
Kathleen M. Patrick on June 13, 1981 in Marine City.
Bernie retired from over-the-road truck driving in 1999 after a 30 year career. During the last 10 years he was employed by Harold Marcus LTD, and each year, received the 'Transportation Safety Award.'
Bernie will be sadly missed by his wife, Kathy of Fort Gratiot; his daughter Michelle Denney, Marysville, MI; his grandson, Tyler; his five sisters, Billie Jean (Bill) Giddings, Indiana, Betty Jo (Pete) Cabahit, California, Brenda J. (Bill) Kane, Pontiac, MI, Barbara J. (Tom) Okalski, Carsonville, MI, and Bonnie J. Meddaugh, Port Huron; and many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends, especially Jim Fayed, Rich Davis, and Ron Roe who were always there to give emotional and physical support.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret, his father, William H., and his twin brother, Benson J. Denney.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2001 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock Street. The Rev. Fr. David Lesniak, Pastor of St. Stephen Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Genevieve C. Dowd
Genevieve C. Dowd, 88, of Port Huron died Monday, March 19, 2001, after a long illness.
She was born Sept. 4, 1912, in Blaine, the daughter, of the late John M. and Mary Agnes Kennedy Dowd. She was the oldest of 10 children and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of Central Michigan University and, began her teaching career in 1933 in a one-room schoolhouse on North River Rd. She taught pupils in Kindergarten to eighth grade. She later taught at the Grant and Chippewa schools and retired in 1976 after a 41-year career.
She was always active in church ministry. She and Virginia Cox began religious education classes for public school students for St. Stephen Parish. She worked with youth through the Legion of Mary.
After her retirement, she coordinated the Lay Hospital Visitation Ministry at St. Mary Parish. She remained active and involved with these programs through St. Mary's Parish until illness prevented it.
She is survived by three sisters, Sister John Baptist, O.P., of Adrian, Ellen (George) Bates of Carmel Valley, Calif., and Sister Margaret Dowd, I.H.M., of Port Huron; brothers, Dennis "Pat" (Dorothy) Dowd of Port Huron, Charles (Ethel) Dowd of Port Huron and Joseph (Erica) Dowd of Santa Monica, Calif.; two sister-in-laws, Joyce Dowd of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Eileen Dowd of Denver; 33 nieces and nephews; and many great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
Genevieve is preceded in death by her brothers, William and John Dowd; sister, Mary Railean; and her niece, Beverly Dowd.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2001, in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Stanley A. Wyczawski will officiate.
Burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel cemetery.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001, in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home, Port Huron, and 9 to 10 a.m. Friday in the church. A wake service will be 8 p.m, Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Newman Center Scholarship or St. Mary Catholic Church.
Robert H. Foster
Robert H. Foster, 64, of Port Huron died Monday, April 2, 2001, in Marwood Nursing and Rehab after a long illness.
He was born June 30, 1936, in Port Huron to the late William and Anna Foster. He was a lifelong area resident.
Robert "Big Bob" worked for 10 years at St. Clair Rubber Co. until its closing. After it closed, he worked for Surf Side Stamping in Marine City,
Bob was an avid fisherman and was often found with his fishing pole along the Thomas Edison Parkway. He also enjoyed his coffee with his friends at Powers Hamburgers.
Bob is survived by his companion of 13 years, Mary E. Groh, of Port Huron; his two children, son Ronald Foster of Oregon and daughter, Lorie Shearer of Dallas; eight grandchildren; and his three sisters, Mrs. James (Donna) Loshaw of Port Huron, Mrs. Gerald (Marion) Bombard of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. Margaret Dixon of Port Huron.
He is also survived by his aunts, Irene Kanthak of Port Huron and Donna Foster of St. Helen; his great-aunt, Hazel Cronwell of Croswell; several cousins, nieces and 'nephews; and his beloved cat, Tom.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Foster.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street. The Rev. Max W Amstutz, chaplain of Marwood Manor Nursing and Rehab will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Jowett Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tom Loshaw, Ted Dixon, Jeanne Dixon, Merle Hammer, Don Struthers and Jack Dixon.
