Loretta A. Wanderer, 78 of Ludington died Thursday Feb. 22 at Memorial Medical Center.
Loretta was born December 6, 1922 in Ludington, the daughter of Louis & Anna Quast. She spent her entire life in Ludington, graduating from Ludington High School. On May 9, 1942 she married
Edward A. Wanderer, who preceded her in death in 1999.
Loretta held several jobs in her life, the most important to her being a wife and mother. In 1988 she retired from Majik Market due to illness.
Loretta is survived by 3 sons, Edward J. and David G. Wanderer of Ludington, and Daniel (& Shari) Wanderer of Lansing, 5 daughters Judy (& Doug) Lemere, Ann L. Wanderer, Loretta M. Wanderer of Ludington, Rebecca (& John Shafer) and sons Cory & Johnathon, & Mary Dombay of England. Loretta has 2 grown grandsons, Ron Myers & sons Cameron and Collin of Ludington, & Wayne (&Lara) Myers and children Stephanie (& Brian), Marc, Jordan and Madison of Minnesota. Also surviving are 2 sisters-in-law SLE Wanderer and Isabella Wanderer of Ludington, and a treasured family friend Barb LaFreniere.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 10:00 Monday Feb. 26 until the time of service at 11:00. The Rev. John Christensen officiated, and burial will followed in Lakeview cemetery.
Lois M. Soneral, 74 of 501 Sixth St. passed away at 11:45 PM Wednesday August 1 at home after a 3 week illness. Lois M. Christoffersen was born April 24, 1927 in Ludington and married
March 8, 1947 at the Bethany Lutheran Church of Ludington to Carl A. Soneral and he survives. She was a lifelong resident of Ludington and was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. She had graduated from Ludington High School, class of 1945, and attended nursing school at Mercy Hospital, Detroit, also attended West Shore Community College, Scottville. She was a former local and state president of the PTA, former Girl Scout leader, former officer of West Shore Scandanavian Society, member of the Write People, Lakeside Circle, Lutheran Social Services, Diabetes Support Group at Memorial Medical Center, and was the Author of two diabetes cookbooks, and was an active diabetes advocate. She was a co-winner of a statewide volunteerism award for LSSM in 2000 and also in 2000 she received the "Colonel's Way Award" presented by Kentucky Fried Chicked for outstanding senior citizen in the state of Michigan.
She had been employed as a clerk at Rochon's Drug Store and other local stores, and as a receptionist/bookkeeper at Peterson's Furniture.
Surviving besides her husband Carl, are 2 daughters, Ruth Soneral, and Mrs. Ron (Janice) Sutula all of Rio Rancho, NM, a nephew Paul Roat and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son Carl Alan Soneral, her parents Mary (Petersen) and Albert J. Christoffersen, a brother Lars A. Christoffersen, and a grandson Steven L. Soneral.
Memorial services for Lois M. Soneral were held Tuesday August 7 at 11:00 AM at the Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. B. Douglas Neimi officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery. There will be no visitation, and memorials may be directed to the Diabetes Support Group at Memorial Medical Center, or to the Bethany Lutheran Church in her memory.
M. Louise Wicklund, 66 of 3764 S. Stiles Rd. passed away Tuesday evening July 31 at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids after a brief illness. M. Louise Campbell was born February 11, 1035 in Grand Rapids and married
May 18, 1957 in Indiana to James Andrew Wicklund and he died in 1987. She lived in Mason County most of her life and had graduated from Scottville High School and later from Davenport College in Grand Rapids. She was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church and enjoyed animals, sewing, & visiting with her friends.

Louise Wicklund is survived by 4 daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Shannon) Stickney of Custer, Maureen Borgh of Ludington, Mrs. Larry (Andrea) Bainbridge of Grand Rapids, and Patricia Wicklund of Hart, 3 sons, Andrew (& Shareen) Wicklund of Ludington, Donald Wicklund of Scottville, and William Wicklund, stationed in the US Navy, 5 grandchildren Blake, Jeremy, Betsey, Cody, & Holly. One brother Alan (& Carol) Campbell, Jr. of Muskegon, 1 sister Mrs. Donald (Clara Jean) Baron of Shelby, step-sisters, Sandra, Sally, Nadine, Mary Jane, & Elaine, Step- brothersHarry, & Owen, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by 1 son Dean Wicklund in 1983, and her father Alan Campbell, and her mother Mildred O'Brien.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday August 3 at 10:30 AM at St. Simon Catholic Church with Rev. Fr Ken Schichtel the celebrant. Visitation was Thursday August 2 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM with a wake service at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial was in Center Riverton cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Lakeshore Animal Friends, or the charity of the donor's choice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Henrietta "Nora" Kubiak, 92 of 504 Fourth St. passed away Thursday July 26 at Memorial Medical Center following a 1 month illness.Henrietta Koziol was born in Poland on October 17, 1908 and married
to Joseph Kubiak in 1928 in Indiana, and he died in 1951. She lived in Ludington most of her life, and was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Rosary Society at St. Stanislaus, and the Auxillary to the Gold Bar Post 5096- Veterans of Foreign Wars. Henrietta had been employed at Memorial Medical Center in the Deitary Department for several years & retired from there.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Kubiak of Ludington, 1 sister Sophie Nyderek of Chicago, 2 brothers Stanley Koziol of Victory Twp., and Edwin (& Margarita) Koziol also of Victory Twp., her daughter-in-law Roberta Kubiak of Ludington, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Joseph Henry Kubiak and a sister Julia Hruska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday July 30 at 11:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Fr Dennis O'Donnell the celebrant. Visitation was Sunday July 29 from 7-9 PM at the funeral home. A memorial service by the VFW Auxillary was held at 7:30 PM and a wake service at 8:30PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Mary W. Murphy, 87 of Pentwater passed away Wednesday July 4, at her home following an extended illness. She was surrounded by loving family members and friends.
Mary (Doran) Murphy was born June 9, 1914 in Empire, Michigan to Cornelius and Mary (DuFrene) Doran. She was married
in Ludington to James Leo Murphy in 1940, and he passed away in 1973.
Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Patrick & Patricia Murphy of Pentwater, her daughter, Colleen Cory, of Pentwater, grandchildren, Shawn Murphy of California, James Murphy of Ludington, Matthew Murphy and Sarah Murphy of Pentwater, Kelly Cory of Grand Rapids, Aaron Cory of Big Rapids. Great granddaughter, Flynne Murphy of California, one sister, Mrs. Evelyn (& Ben) Morter of Ohio, and one sister-in-law Catherine Ada (& Ivan) Petterson of Ludington, numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved and enjoyed very much.
Mary was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church of Pentwater, the American Legion Auxillary, the VFW Auxillary, and a past member of the Oceana County Women's Pool League. She also volunteered at St. Simon's Bargain Center.
Prior to WWII, Mary was a licensed cosmetologist and the owner and operator of her own beauty shop. During WWII she was employed at Continental Motors Corp. of Muskegon. In 1955 Mary moved to Weare Township, Ocean Co., where she and her husband owned and operated Murphy's Tavern fo 31 years.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday July 7 at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Charles Brown the celebrant. Visitation was Friday July 6 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home, where a scripture-wake service was held at 7:30 PM. Burial was in Center Riverton cemetery. Lorne Henry Farley, 84 of 307 State St., Scottville died unexpectedly Friday at Memorial Medical Center with his daughter Linda and her husband Jim Miller, and his wife Erma Farley at his side. He was born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada on May 13, 1917 to the late Gordon and Clara (Potter) Farley.After graduating from Brantford Colligiate Institute in 1934, Lorne excelled in sales and marketing with companies in both Canada and the United States. He will be remembered for his kindness, love, quick wit and genuine smile which he gave freely to his family and many friends.For many years, Lorne enjoyed his membership at Lincoln Hills Country Club where he had a lot of fun playing golf with friends and family. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII where he served as a flight instructor for Canadian British Hurricane fighter pilots.
He was a lifetime member of the Pere Marquette Lodge # 299 F&AM. He was also a lifetime member of the Ludington Elks Lodge BPOE #736.
Lorne was one of three sons, his older brother, the late Douglas Alfred Farley and younger brother Robert Gordon (Margaret) Farley who live in Brantford Ontario, Canada.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Jim) Miller, Lorna (Gerald) Laird, and his wife Erma Runyan Farley and her son Robert Runyan, also his grandson David Farley Betz, granddaughters Leeanne Gibboney, Libbey (Chris) Quillan, great granddaughter Lindsey Lee Gibboney, nephews Dennis (Carol) Farley, Rod (Nedra) Farley, Suzanne, Lenya and Scott, Grant Menzies, Carol Menzies, Gary (Diane) Menzies, David (Valerie) Menzies, Ron (Lynda) Menzies, Denise Elise, Rod and Jiffy Farley, Susan Marie (Farley)Taylor, Phillip and Bruce Farley, and many more friends and relatives.
Memorial services were held Friday July 20 at 1:00 PM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Fr J. Robert Hector, and Fr J. Ralph Patston officiating, a luncheon followed at the Grace Episcopal Church.
Lorne loved the little animals that gave him so much joy and contentment, Budde, Lilly, Sis, Farley, Menzie, Sandy, and Buddy.

Desmond P. Waters, MD., 76 of 805 Anderson St. passed away Thursday evening, January 31 at home with his wife and family at his side, following a 2 year battle with cancer.Desmond P. Waters was born in Galway Ireland, on April 12, 1925 and married
on July 18, 1960 in Galway to Freda Dooley and she survives.
He was a resident of Ludington for the past 30 years, and a member of St. Simon Catholic Church. He graduated from St. Ignatius Boys College, and served in the British Royal Air Force during WWII, following his tour of duty he spent 12 years as a radar consultant with the Swedish Air Force. He then returned to Ireland and earned his medical degree from the National University of Ireland. In 1961 he came to the United States to begin his career. In 1971 he established his practice in Ludington as a family physician. After closing his practice in 1990 he followed his love for emergency medicine until 1994. He retired his medical career working with the Chippewa Tribe in the Upper Peninsula.
he was a member of the Pere Marquette Council #1492 Knights of Columbus, & the Am-vets Post 82.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years Freda, six children, Rita, Joe, Tom, Kevin, Desmond, and Mary, and six grandchildren.
he was preceded in death by his parents Dr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Waters, his brothers Dr. Tom F. Waters, Dr. Joseph J. Waters (his twin brother), and a sister Emily Waldron.

Jack W. Mills, Sr., 76 0f 2995 S. Tyndall Rd., Branch died at 12:30 PM Tuesday January 29 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born March 29, 1925 in Warren, MI and married
on February 15, 1947 in Warren to Leona L. Leonard who survives. He came to Mason County from Warren in 1987. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army and had been a prisoner of war and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Warren Post, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5315 in Baldwin. He had been employed by the Grand Trunk, Western Railroad as a conductor & Switchman for 38 years retiring in 1985.
Surviving besides his wife are 1 son, Jack W. Mills, Jr. of Sterling Hts., MI, 3 daughters, Barbara (& Jerry) Jones, of Warren, MI, Debi (& Brian) Cavanaugh, of Rochester, MI, and Vickie (& Ron) Stever of Walhalla, MI, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Charles Mills of Shelby Twp., and Edward L. (& Bobbie) Mills of Warren, 2 sisters Margie Goodley, and Marion (& Richard) Ostrand both of Warren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services for Jack W. Mills, Sr. was held Saturday February 2, at 12:00 PM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with the members of the American Legion officiating. Visitation was Saturday February 2 from 10:00 until the time of service. Burial will be in Ft. Custer National cemetery, in Battle Creek.

Barbara Ann Schroeder, age 72, of 400 Sherman Oaks Drive, Apt. 407, died Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. Barbara Boguszewski was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Ludington where she lived all her life. She attended St. Simon High School and was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. On July 10, 1948, she married
Jack Schroeder, and he survives. She owned and operated Bobbie's Hair Salon in her home for many years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Mike (and Terry) Schroeder of Muskegon and Paul Schroeder of Ludington; one daughter, Jennifer (and Mike) O'Herron of Ludington; five sisters, Frances Kolanowski and Monica Olson of Manistee, and Victoria Piotrowski, Caroline Fisher and Josephine Carlson, all of Ludington; seven grandchildren, Heather (Roger) Vernier, Ian and Derrick Schroeder, Erika (and Scott) Fairfield, Laura (and Shawn) James, Heather (and Andrew) Wittbrodt, and Christopher O'Herron; five great-grandchildren, Kaira and Rae Ann Vernier, Morgan and Abigail James, and Tyler Fairfield; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Harriet Bogus Sr., her brother Ted Bogus Jr., and her grandson, Joel Christian Schroeder.
Visitation was from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home. There will be no funeral services. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
