Charles "Lynn" Babcock
IRON MOUNTAIN - Charles "Lynn" Babcock, 72, of Iron Mountain, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born on March 30, 1934, in Grayling, lower Michigan, son of the late Joseph and Esther (Sieb) Babcock
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 42 years, Lorraine of Iron Mountain; a son, Larry Babcock of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughters, Traci (Richard) Blundell of Shepperton, England and Wendy (Carlo) Kriekels of Denver; four grandchildren, Samuel and Maria Blundell and Jack and Tristan Kriekels.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Lyle Babcock.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate.
Burial will be in the Gardens of Rest cemetery in Gladstone.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet.

Lloyd M. Duford
KINGSFORD - Lloyd M. Duford, 84, of 144 Beech St. in Kingsford, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at his home.
Lloyd was born on Nov.19, 1922, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Leo and Doris (Luypen) Duford. He has been a resident of this area his entire life. Lloyd served with the United States Army during World War II.
He married
the former Theodora Zigman on Nov. 8, 1947, and she preceded him in death on May 11, 1998.
Lloyd worked as a machinist at Eagle Tool until his retirement in 1985. He had been a member of American Martyrs Church. For many years Lloyd enjoyed stock car racing. He loved going to camp and he loved his dog.
Lloyd is survived by his son, Lawrence Duford of Iron Mountain; his daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Carlson of Breitung Township; a sister, Marilyn Wood of Breitung Township; three grandchildren, Kit (Jeff) DeMuri of Kingsford, Nicole (Mike) Lutz of Kingsford and Brandon Carlson of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; two great-grandchidren, Dominic DeMuri and Finnley Lutz and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of the Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Irene Vanderaa
QUINNESEC - Irene Vanderaa, 88, of Quinnesec, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born on June 29, 1918, in Quinnesec, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Macek) Snyder.
Irene graduated from Quinnesec High School. She worked as an administrative assistant at Breitung Township Schools and as a claims adjuster for American Standard in Columbus, Ohio.
Irene was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She married
George Vanderaa in 1946, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Quinnesec. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1989.
Irene is survived by one brother, Charles Snyder of Hackensack, N.J. and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Louis Snyder and a sister, Caroline Pipp.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christan Burial.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Honore J. Beauchamp
HARDWOOD - Honore J. Beauchamp, 77, of N5928 Beauchamp Road, Hardwood, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born July 28, 1929, in Kingsford, son of the late Roy and Stella (Piche) Beauchamp. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Honore married
Shirley Barcome on Aug. 7, 1948, at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford.
He was employed by Cleveland Cliffs Mining Co. for several years. Honore was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Foster City. He enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid hunter and loved gardening.
Honore is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley; two sons, Randy (Jody) Beauchamp of Kingsford and Scott (Pam) Beauchamp of Iron Mountain; a daughter, Judy (Terry) Lucas of Hardwood; two sisters, Arnebelle Paquette of Iron River and Karen (Ken) Orzel of Escanaba; eight grandchildren, Madge, Jenny, Wayne, Shannon, Karissa, Joseph, Brittney and Ashley; and eight great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Chase, Andi Lynn, Samantha, Avery, Riley, Dylan and Ciara.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne in 1971; a daughter, Lynn Fields in 1997; two sisters; and seven brothers.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Fr. Dick Mroz will officiate.
Burial will be in the Foster City cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Donald D. Lidbeck, Sr.
CRYSTAL FALLS - Donald D. Lidbeck Sr., 69, of Crystal Falls, formerly of Kingsford, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Iron County Medical Center in Crystal Falls.
Don was born on Oct. 5, 1937, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Ernest and Alice (Patrick) Lidbeck. He was a graduate of Kingsford High School and has been a resident of this area his entire life.
Don worked as a butcher for several local grocery stores. He was a outstanding athlete in football and track while at Kingsford High School. When he was younger, Don enjoyed hunting with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Don (Kim Apsey) Lidbeck Jr. of Iron Mountain; his daughter, Gwen (Tim) Goffard of Suamico, Wis.; a brother, Ernest "Larry" (Darlene) Lidbeck of Kingsford; a sister, Bonnie (Earl) Sexton of Kingsford; three grandchildren, Lina, Luke and Levi Goffard; and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Hoes.
Visitation will be Friday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate.

Leonard S. Conte
IRON MOUNTAIN - Leonard S. Conte, 91, of 1301 West B. St., Iron Mountain, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at the Beverly Living Center of Florence, Wis.
Leonard was born Aug. 21, 1915, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Antonio and Mary I. "Maggie" (DiStasio) Conte.
He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1933 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Leonard was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He married
Jean Peterson in 1941, in Jackson, Michigan. Leonard worked for Michigan Bell as a toll test foreman for 37 years, retiring in 1981. He loved the home he built, his family, and his garden; his tomatoes made the sauce for the spaghetti that his wife and children loved.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean; a son, Michael (Gail) Conte of Plymouth, Michigan; four daughters, Mary Jean (David) Swander of Ramsey, Minn., Charlotte (Michael) Nicholson of Ann Arbor, Barbara (Gregory) LaCasse of Marquette, and Jodi (Bob) Heinrich of Petoskey, Michigan; four sisters, Lucille Melham of Lemoyne, Pa., Virginia Blair of Iron Mountain, Barbara (Ken) Wolpers of Minnetonka, Minn. and Gloria (Tom) Sheehan of Newark, N.J.; and 13 grandchildren, Marisa Conte, Meredith Conte, Kevin (Jill) Conte, Kyle Conte, Brian Swander, Casey Nicholson, Maura Nicholson, Jessie (Dan) Helman, Leah LaCasse, Gina LaCasse, John Heinrich, Sam Heinrich and Kelsey Heinrich.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Conte and three sisters, Carmen Conte, Cecelia Bertrand and Marilyn Pelot.
Friends are invited to stop by the family home on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Jerry S. Cohodes
Iron Mountain - Jerry S. Cohodes of Jersey City, New Jersey died Thursday March 15, 2007 at his home in Jersey City. He was born October 28, 1933 in Iron Mountain, beloved son of the late Morris and Adeline Cohodes. He is survived by his sister Shelley (Bud) Gutman, sister-in-law; Kristine Cohodes, his aunt; Mildred Cohodes, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his two brothers, Don Cohodes and Robert Cohodes.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 26th, at 11:00am at cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

Sherman F. Johnson
KINGSFORD - Sherman Forest Johnson, 85, of 720 W. Breen Ave. in Kingsford, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born on Aug. 26, 1921, in Cunard, son of the late Ernest Edwin and Hulda (Springer) Johnson. Sherman was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served four years in the Pacific Theatre.
He worked for most of his life with the Local 1329 Labor Union and enjoyed many friendships through that tenure. Sherman was a member of the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 in Iron Mountain.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary G. (Archibald) Johnson. Sherman and Mary's lives together focused on their family of which he is further survived by two sons, Gary (Sue Ann) of Kingsford and Paul (Barbara) of West Bend, Wis.; and a daughter, Mary Beth (Lincoln) Edwards of Kingsford. Sherman is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his eight grandchildren, Kim Plourde, Kelly (Steve) Clement, Katie (Roger) Paulin, Jennie and Andy Johnson, and Michael, Amy and Nick Edwards. His life was further enriched by his three great- grandchildren, Amanda Plourde, Mariah Clement and Logan Edwards. He is further survived by his sister, Arletta Meysembourg; sisters-in-law, Ann, Ruth and Dorothy Johnson, and Gladys and Helen Archibald; and many nieces and nephews.
Sherman was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur Murray, Earl, Lloyd, and Edwin 'Carlyle' Johnson, brothers-in-law, Francis, John, Louis, Joseph and Alfred Archibald, sisters-in-law, Char and Vernice Archibald and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Alice (Scholtes) Archibald.
Private family services will be held.

LuAnne M. Norback
NIAGARA, Wis. - LuAnne M. Norback, 51, of Inverness, Fla., formerly of Niagara, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, in Florida.
She was born March 25, 1955, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Edward and Jacqueline (Kermeen) Vondell. She attended the Iron Mountain Public Schools. LuAnne liked working, and worked many jobs in her lifetime. Most recently she was the manager at Launderland in Florida.
LuAnne is survived by sisters, Lisa (Bill) Fier of Inverness and April Cook (Roy Klinkefus) of Loretto; brothers, Dale (Dorothy) Vondell of Niagara, Wis. and Mark (Jenny) Vondell of Madison, Wis.; nieces, Tina and Jackie Villeneuve, Tabatha Carlson, and Lynn Rose; nephews, Aurthur Doer and Lee Rose; great-nieces, Loren Glibbery and Destiny Ferrara; great-nephew, Keegan Jacobson and many aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.

Reuben J. Nantell
IRON MOUNTAIN - Rueben J. Nantell, 80, of 340 Pine View Terrace in Iron Mountain, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
Reuben was born on Oct. 13, 1926, in Brampton. He was raised in this area and was a 1944 graduate of Felch High School. He has lived in Milwaukee for the past 42 years, returning to Iron Mountain in 1986.
He married
the former Helen F. Snyder on July 2, 1979, in Iowa. Reuben retired after 32 years with Allis-Chalmers in Milwaukee as an electrician.
He loved music and played the guitar. When Rueben and his brother-in-law, Don, went to the dump, they never returned the same day. Family and friends still remember Rueben and Andy rolling a bowling ball down the street in Gladstone. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop and took pride in keeping up his yard and his car.
Reuben is survived by his wife, Helen; a stepdaughter, Gail Enslen of Minnesota; a sister, Barbara (Don) Ruthsatz of West Allis, Wis., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in Gardens of Rest cemetery in Escanaba
A memorial will be established in his memory to the Paralyzed Veterans Association.
