Judith A. Verley
LORETTO - Judith A. Verley, 63, of Hamilton Lakes, died at her home of pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, comforted by her loving family.
She was born on Dec. 1, 1943, in Ishpeming, the daughter of the late Ambrose "Pork" and Aune "Ann" (Lahti) Airaudi.
She graduated from Neguanee High School in 1961, and from the Beauty Academy in Marquette in 1962.
Judy married James P. Verley on Aug. 22, 1964, in Negaunee. They lived in Quinnesec for 30 years prior to moving to Hamilton Lakes 10 years ago. Judy enjoyed cross stitching, bowling, traveling, camping, reading, water sports, boating, cribbage, her birthday club, and playing board games with her family.
She and her husband Jim enjoyed traveling the United States in their motor home, visiting many Civil War sites and national parks. They also enjoyed several cruises over the years.
Judy is survived by her husband, James; two daughters, Shelly (Robert) Welker of Marquette and Diane (Steve) Vantassel of Appleton, Wis.; five brothers, A. Michael Airaudi (Ernestine Holland) of Negaunee, Peter (Josephine) Airaudi of Republic, David (Carol) Airaudi of West Bend, Wis., James (Judie) Airaudi of Grafton, Wis., and Jess (Beth) Airaudi of Waco, Texas; five grandchildren, Colin and Aurora Welker, Nicholas and Nathan Lemin, and Madeline Vantassel; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Quinnesec United Methodist Church. Rev. David Snyder will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Roger B. Pohlson
KINGSFORD - Roger B. Pohlson, 67, of 633 E. Breen Ave., Kingsford, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center.
Roger was born March 5, 1939, in Peoria, Ill., son of the late Russell and Irene (Gerrard) Pohlson. He has been a resident of this area since 1967.
Roger served with the U.S. Air Force for five years and the U.S. Marine Corp. for five years.
He married the former Linda L. Scherbarth on Aug. 29, 1992, in Iron Mountain.
Roger was a member of the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 of Iron Mountain. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Dunbar Sportsmans Club. He loved hunting, fishing and watching football and baseball. He enjoyed reading, watching movies and doing crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Roger Jr. (Vida) Pohlson of Kenosha, Wis.; his daughter, Donna (Jim) Supa of Folson, La.; a stepson, Nathan DeLano of Portage, Wis.; a sister, Rena (Dean) Jaegle of Bartonville, Ill.; seven grandchildren, JoAnna, Maggie, Oskana, Lance (Beth) Jenkins, Brad (Beth) Jenkins, Brent (Jessica) Bleckiner, Bailey DeLano and Joe, April and Jake Supa; great-grandchildren, Levi and Sophia, Brianna, Molly and Dennis III and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle; a brother, Roy Pohlson; a sister-in- law, Jean Pohlson; and his mother-in-law, Ruby Scherbarth.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 9:30 a.m., at the Quinnesec cemetery.
The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct the graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Lloyd J. LaForest
Lloyd J. LaForest, 73, of Ralph, MI, formerly of Linden, MI died Sat. April 7, 2007 at home. He was born on March 28, 1934 in Flat Rock, MI, the son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Miller) LaForest.
Lloyd graduated from Flint Central High School and completed his electrical apprenticeship through General Motors Institute. He was an electrician for General Motors Chevrolet Division for 31 years, retiring on May 1, 1984. Lloyd also served in the US Army in Korea.
Lloyd built three homes, including his dream home in Ralph. He enjoyed hunting and had shot an eight point buck with an 18 inch spread this past Nov. He also liked gardening and fishing.
Lloyd married Loretta F. Young on July 2, 1955.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Loretta, four daughters Rebecca (James) Kosal, Cynthia (Ronald) Harris, Lisa Eby, and Karen (Carl) Smith, one sister Theresa (Gerald) Bailey and eight grandchildren Michael and Jennifer Kosal, Joshua and Kyle Harris, Ryan Eby, Tyler Wells, and Samantha and William Smith.
He was preceded in death by a son Stephen LaForest in 1977, one brother Lawrence LaForest, and his in-laws John and Nellie Young.
Visitation will be Tues. from 10am-12noon CDT at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan. Funeral services will be Tues. at 12 noon CDT at the Church. Rev. Bill Jacobson will officiate. Visitation will also be Thurs. from 4-8pm and Fri from 1-8pm at Swartz Funeral Home on Hill Rd. in Flint. Funeral services will be Sat. at 11am at the Swartz Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Jacobson will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery in Linden, MI.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge in Marshfield, WI

Glada A. Cotton
KINGSFORD - Glada A. Cotton, 75, of 1405 Riverview Drive, Kingsford, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at the Beverly Living Center in Florence.
She was born Aug. 21, 1931, in Canton, Ohio, daughter of the late Oscar and Fern (Tompkins) Anderson.
Glada married Elgar L. Cotton on Aug. 12, 1950. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1987.
She was a member of the Maranatha Assembly of God Church and a co-founder of the Missionette program. Glada also taught Sunday school for many years. She worked a number of various jobs during her lifetime and retired from Northpointe. She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, knitting, and crocheting.
She is survived by four children, Bill (Julie Chartier) Cotton, Emelia (Ronald) Curran, George (Lynne) Cotton, all of Kingsford, and Keith (Aleah) Cotton of Port Mansfield, Texas; two brothers, Carl (Sandy) Anderson of Burbank, Ohio and Claude (Dolores) Anderson of the Woodlands, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Joel (Debbie) Cotton, Melissa (Rodney) Anderson, Samantha (Anthony) Micheau, Mark Curran, Kathleen Curran, Amity (Joe Provencher) Curran, Dawn Gignac, Shane Cotton, Nichole Cotton, and Ryan Cotton; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Logan Curran, and three brothers, Paul, Ervin, and Roger Anderson.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Kingsford.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Rev. David Wilton will officiate.
Burial will be in Quinnesec cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William, George, Keith, Joel, and Shane Cotton, and Mark Curran.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.

James "Jess" Reiten
IRON MOUNTAIN - James 'Jess' Reiten, 79, of Harding Park Drive, Breitung Township, died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 26, 1927, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Arthur and Ethel (Anderson) Reiten. Jess was a life long resident of the Iron Mountain-Kingsford area and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1945. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
Jess married Marquita 'Sis' Minella on Dec. 31, 1978, in Iron Mountain. Jess was one of the founders of MJ Electric back in 1959. He later owned and operated Paul Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1992.
Jess was a member of the Iron Mountain Elks Lodge, and a former member of Pine Grove and the Chippewa Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing in his carpentry shop.
Jess is survived by his wife, 'Sis'; two sons, Steve (Penny) Reiten of Iron Mountain and Michael Hartzheim of Marinette, Wis.; three daughters, Dawn Hartzheim of Milwaukee, Robin (Tom) Mathea of Hazelhurst, Wis. and Teresa Paul of Grafton, Wis.; two sisters, Melvina Curtis of West Branch, and Hazel (Woody) Wood of Poway, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Leigh and Maureen Reiten, Billy and Katie Mommaerts, Lauren and Daniel Mathea, and Lisa and Sara Hartzheim; and one great-grandson; Jack
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica Mommaerts, a grandson, Thomas Reiten and two brothers, Robert and Lyle Reiten.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.

Valentine L. "Tinkala" Richtig
IRON MOUNTAIN - Valentine L. 'Tinkala' Richtig, 95, of 429 Blaine St. in Iron Mountain, died Friday, March 30, 2007, at Freeman Convalescent Home.
He was born Dec. 27, 1911, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Paul and Mary (Mortl) Richtig.
He was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain, and he attended Iron Mountain Schools.
He married Celia Clements of Bradley Wis. on Feb. 18 1941.
He served his country as a corporal in the Army Air Force During World War II.
He worked in the local mines as a youth and was employed by Ford Motor Co. and Bacco Construction Co.
He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He also took great pride in his vegetable garden and lawn. He was blessed with a beautiful tenor voice and had a passion for singing his entire life. More recently at Freeman's, he enjoyed bowling, bingo and Trivial Pursuit. He enjoyed his large family and had a great love for little children. We will never forget his memorable stories, positive attitude and great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife; Celia; four sons, Gary (Jeannine) Richtig of Spread Eagle, Wis., John (Joanie) Richtig of Iron Mountain, Dave (Chris) Richtig of Aurora, Wis. and Jim (Lisa) Richtig of Kingsford; three daughters, Rena Richtig of Mt. Pleasant, Maria (Donald) Gerred of Janesville, Wis. and Pamela (Rev. Bill) Hohman of Merrill, Wis.; one brother, William Richitig of ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford; 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children, Dennis Richtig in 1948 and Brenda Yuhasey in 2004; brothers, Paul, John, Mike and Christ; and sisters, Frances, Elizabeth, Mary and Victoria.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Pallbearers will be Gary, John, Dave and Jim Richtig, Daniel Yuhasey, and Christopher Richtig.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home with arrangements.

Lois M. Dulan
IRON MOUNTAIN - Lois M. Dulan, 84, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2007, at Hyland Nursing Home.
Lois was born on Jan. 1, 1923, in Ishpeming, and was the daughter of the late Albert and Josephine (Charles) Denn. She was a graduate of Kingsford High School and attended Marquette University in Milwaukee.
Lois worked as a secretary and receptionist for Dr. Franks, the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center and Schultz Equipment.
She was very active volunteering for St. Vincent de Paul, the VA Hospital and Knights of Columbus Bingo. Lois was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church and a longtime member of the church choir. She was a former member of the Memorial Hospital League, the Daughters of Isabella, Lady Lions and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
Lois is survived by her children, Marijo (Mark) Dulan-Ellingson of Breitung Township, Denise (Randy) Munn of Iron Mountain, Jean (Mark) Bosley of Breitung Township and Mark (Sharon Quick) Dulan of Breitung Township; her grandchildren, Brian (Laura) Munn of Kingsford, Darcy (Jay) Brown of Homestead, Wis., Brandon Bosley of North Carolina, Adam Bosley of Iron Mountain, Cari and Catherine Dulan of Kingsford and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of the Christian Burial
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to St. Mary and St. Joseph Church.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.
