Evelyne Reed
IRON MOUNTAIN - Evelyne E. Reed, 83, of Iron Mountain, formerly of 801 Marquette Blvd., Kingsford, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain.
She was born on July 31, 1922 in Mass City, daughter of the late John and Marion (Heckler) Maki. Her family moved to Chicago with the Ford Motor Co., and that is where she grew up. While in Chicago, Evelyne worked for Ryerson Steel.
She met and married
Gordon Reed Sr. on Nov. 15, 1952. Together they spent 53 years in Kingsford, where they raised their family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Evelyne enjoyed cooking, baking, and traveling. She was also known to have spent countless hours on the telephone talking to her only sister in Chicago. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church .
She is survived by her husband, Gordon of Victorian Pines Estates in Iron Mountain; three sons, Gordy (Alice) Reed, Randy (Joni) Reed, and Terry (Lynne) Reed, all of Breitung Township; a sister, Pat Eisner of Evergreen Park, Ill.; grandchildren, Kirstin Nalette, Angela Reed, Jamie Reed, Allison Reed, and Johnathon Reed; great-grandchildren, Richard, Megan, and Liam Nalette and Elijah Reed; a special niece, Yvonne Librizzi of Chicago and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Reed, and a grandson, Jason Reed.
Private family services will be held.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.

Kim Peterson
DEARBORN - Kim R. Peterson, 49, of Dearborn, lower Michigan, formerly of Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at his home in Dearborn.
Kim was born on Jan. 11, 1955, in Iron Mountain. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1973, and from the University of Michigan with a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
He has worked as a lighting engineer in the Detroit Metro Area for the past 25 years. Kim was featured in one of the chapters of the automobile industry book titled 'The Car.' He loved sports and collectibles and was an avid Green Bay Packer and University of Michigan Wolverine fan. He also enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Peterson of Iron Mountain; a brother, Brian (Kristi) Peterson of Oak Creek, Wis., and a sister, Cheryl (Kenneth) Swan of Iron Mountain; nieces and nephews, Shannon (Jesse) Hansen, Brandon Swan, Aron Swan, Jacelyn Swan and Jacob, Bryce and Zachary Peterson; great-nieces and great-nephew, Grace Hansen, Olivia Hansen and Seth Hansen.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Iron Mountain.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Michael March will officiate. Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Frances Fontana
IRON MOUNTAIN - Frances 'Francie' V. Fontana, 86, of 810 W. A St., Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Hyland Nursing Home.
She was born March 12, 1918, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Frank and Alfreda (Osterberg) Larson. Francie graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1938, and was a resident of the area her entire life.
She married
Joseph Fontana Sr. in 1940 at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Francie was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. She enjoyed oil painting, photography, reading and Italian cooking. Her favorite memories were spent with her family at camp.
Francie is survived by three sons, Thomas Fontana of Faithorn, James Fontana of Iron Mountain and Peter (Annette) Fontana of Faithorn; one daughter, Kay (James) Steinbrecher of Norway; a sister, Verna Paquette of Iron Mountain; seven grandchildren, Joseph, David and Matthew Fontana, Nicole (Tom) Verrette, James Steinbrecher Jr., and Maria and Peter Fontana; three great-grandchildren, Ashly Fontana, Haley Steinbrecher, and Marcus Verrette; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Joseph and Mark Fontana; three brothers, Clayton, Wilbert and Everett Larson; and a sister, Violet Freberg.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Pastor Lee Liverance will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

Jennie Neveau
NIAGARA, Wis. - Jennie Neveau, 83, of Niagara, Wis., died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, 28 years to the day and time of her husband Arnold's death, at the Hyland Nursing Home.
She was born on Jan. 4, 1921, in Negaunee, daughter of the late Zefferino and Rosa (Bertolda) Bertot.
Jennie worked at the C&R; Bar, the Kimlark, Doug's Hilltop and Jennies. She owned and operated Neveau's Root Beer Stand with her husband.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the St. Anthony Council of Christian Women. Jennie was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 2001 and was named the First Lady of Niagara in 2000. She enjoyed attending all sporting events and was an avid bowler, golfer and card player. Most of all, Jennie enjoyed being with her family and friends.
She married
Arnold Neveau on May 19, 1940, in Iron Mountain.
She is survived by her son, Raymond (Sharon) of Oshkosh, Wis. and their children, Brian (Meghan) and his three children and Greg (Deb) and his two children; her daughter, Rosemary (Roger) DeForge of Niagara and their children, Stacey (Steve) Holzman and her three children, Kelly (Jangus) Teger and her three children, and Anna; her son, Phillip (Jackie) of Niagara and their children Dean and his son, Aimee Jones and her three children, and Trisha; a son, Fred (Lenore) of Niagara and his children, Jennifer (Don) Lofholm and her two children, and Nicole; and her daughter, Debbie (Carl) Lindgren of Niagara and their children, Travis (Lindsay), Matt (Kristin) and Tara (Benji). She is also survived by three sisters, Pauline Krezman of Sacramento, Calif., Mary Yaggie of Oshkosh, and Lena Piche of Niagara.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Bertot and a daughter-in-law, Tina Neveau.
Visitation will be held Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara. The funeral Mass will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the church. Fr. Michael Betley will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Niagara cemetery.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Clarence Walstrom
QUINNESEC - Clarence E. Walstrom, 85, 1014 Lake Ave. of Quinnesec, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at his home.
He was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Charles and Anna (Swanson) Walstrom.
Mr. Walstrom served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was a welder at Lake Shore Inc.
Clarence picked pinecones to collect seeds for nurseries for more than 40 years. He also enjoyed using his metal detector and camping.
He married
Laverne Corsi on July 13, 1946, in Florence, Wis.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Laverne; three sons, Terry (Virginia) of Green Bay, Wis., David of Iron Mountain and Robert (Phyllis) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four daughters, Patricia (Kevin) Whaley of Iron Mountain, Susan (Gerald) West of Niagara, Wis., Mindi (Carl) Hockberger of Iron River, and Elizabeth (Daniel) Franklin of Quinnesec; one sister, Helen Filliger of Las Vegas; 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home.
The Memorial talk will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. It will be given by Elder Brian Kleist.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Herbert Krause
AURORA, Wis. - Herbert C. Krause, 69, of Aurora, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004.
He was born Oct. 13, 1935, in Peshtigo, Wis., son of the late Gustav and Emma (Gove) Krause. Herb lived most of his life in the Marinette-Menominee area. In 1999, he moved to Aurora and has been a resident there ever since.
He loved hunting and fishing, and enjoyed early American heritage and history. The past few years, Herb enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by two sons, Chad (Kerri) Krause of Seattle, Wash. and Edward Krause of Kenosha, Wis.; one daughter, Lori (Wayne) DeShambo of Marquette; his fiance', Patricia Schaut of Aurora; one brother, Dale (Linda) Krause of Pembine, Wis.; one sister, Marion Kinney of Florida; three grandchildren, Cole and Kaylee Krause of Seattle and Stephanie DeShambo of Lansing.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Homestead Fire Department.

Maryellen Nelson
QUINNESEC - Maryellen Nelson, 81, of Ann Arbor, formerly of Quinnesec, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, in Ann Arbor.
Maryellen was born on Nov. 15, 1924, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Earl and Agnes (Falconer) Benoit. She was a graduate of Kingsford High School and attended beauty school in Duluth, Minn.
Maryellen married
Robert Nelson on Jan. 26, 1952, in Norway and he preceded her in death in 1971. She worked as a beautician in Iron Mountain and Quinnesec for many years. She also worked in housekeeping at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for several years retiring in 1990. Maryellen enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and craftwork. She also enjoyed walking in the cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Richard Nelson of South Lyon, lower Michigan; her mother, Agnes Benoit of Kingsford; a brother, Gerald (Kitty) Benoit of Hemet, Calif.; sisters, Joyce (Robert) Erickson of Kingsford and Janice (William) Lang of Argonne, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Janet Michaud of Quinnesec; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Lee Liverance will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Lena Brockington
IRON MOUNTAIN - Lena O. Brockington, 94, of Iron Mountain died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
She was born on Dec. 26, 1911, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Frank and Natalina (Targhetta) Querio.
She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.
Lena married
Gordon C. Brockington on Dec. 1, 1958, in Quinnesec. He preceded her in death in 1971.
She is survived by a special niece, Faith Nicholas of Clinton Township, lower Michigan, and many other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Lena was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
