Debbie Fabry
KINGSFORD - Debbie Fabry, 49, of 904 Bluff St., Kingsford, passed away on Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at Marquette General Hospital.
Debbie was born on April 10, 1956, in Libertyville, Ill., daughter of Elvera (Hansen) Silke and the late Wayne A. Silke.
Debbie married Dale Fabry on May 20, 1989, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1999.
She worked in housekeeping for Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. She loved her dogs and camping. Together with her husband, they owned and operated Fabry's Tree Lot, a tradition she kept on with her son, Michael after Dale's passing.
Debbie is survived by her son, Michael at home in Kingsford; her mother, Elvera Pellettiere of Vandalia, Ohio; a brother, Allen Silke of Tampa Fla.; two sisters, Nancy Latta of Vandalia, Donna Dunn of North Fort Meyers, Fla. and Lynn Vernooy of Vandalia; her mother-in-law, Millie Fabry of Kingsford; a brother-in-law, Don Fabry of Iron Mountain; two sisters-in-law, Janice Hosking of Pound, Wis. and Cheryl Carollo (Rod Bloom) of Kingsford; several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special friend, Gary Bednarz of Kingsford.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Kingsford Funeral Home in Kingsford.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Kingsford Funeral Home of Kingsford with the funeral arrangements.

Betty Erickson
LAKELAND, Fla. - Betty J. Erickson, 83, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Iron Mountain and Spread Eagle, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, in Lakeland, Fla.
She was born Nov. 7, 1921, in Menominee, daughter of the late Willard and Gertrude (Michaelis) Harper. She graduated from the Peshtigo High School in 1939.
Betty married Everett B. Erickson on Oct. 28, 1939, in Peshtigo, Wis. He preceded her in death in 1986. She and her late husband, Everett owned and operated the Erickson and Sons Funeral Home in Iron Mountain, which later became known as the Erickson-Rochon Funeral Home. Betty has resided in Lakeland for the past 14 years.
She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the First Lutheran Church, Lady Elks, and Lady Lions. Betty was a former member of Pine Grove Country Club and the Chippewa Club.
She is survived by three sons; Michael of Lakeland, Stephen of Gladwin, lower Michigan and Jeffrey of Deltona, Fla.; four grandsons, Ian Erickson of Ft. Collins, Colo., Thor Erickson of Alpharetta, Ga., Rolf Erickson of Roswell, Ga. and Kirk Erickson of Jacksonville, Fla.; six great-grandchildren; one sister; Jerry (Jack) Surk of Peshtigo, and one niece and one nephew.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church.

Edward Carlsen
IRON MOUNTAIN - Edward Charles Carlsen, 89, of Iron Mountain, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Edward was born on July 31, 1916, in Escanaba, son of the late Charles and Rose (Maurus) Carlsen. Early in his life his family moved to Iron Mountain. He was a 1936 graduate of Iron Mountain High School and resided on Hughitt Street for most of his life.
On Feb.14, 1941, Edward was joined in marriage to Beryl White at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Norway. They celebrated 62 very special and loving years together. He was an example to his family and friends as he tenderly cared for his 'sweetheart' through many years of her illness, until her death in January of 2003. What a reunion now taking place as they meet again, young and filled with health and joy!
Edward served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 in the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign, and also in the Pacific Theatre where he earned the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, among others.
Edward and Beryl were members of Trinity United Methodist Church since its inception. He was very active in several facets of Christian service within his congregation serving as Sunday school teacher, Bible camp counselor, usher and trustee. He was to be found wherever there was service to be rendered, including serving tables and washing dishes for the church's soup kitchen right up to the time of his final short illness.
Edward worked for Kingsford Motors from the 1930s until 1956. Until his retirement in 1981, he was a valued employee of W. B. Thompson Company. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with friends at the Niagara Senior Center, serving his church and reading extensively. He enjoyed camping with his son, Bob, and his family, spending time with his daughter Linda's family and their pets and traveling back and forth to Colorado to visit his son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Joanne. Especially, he will be remembered for his loving patience with his beloved great-grandchildren who brought him much joy after the passing of Beryl.
Edward is survived by his son, Robert (Judy) Carlsen of Norway, his son, Mark (JoAnne) Carlsen of Westminster, Colo., and his daughter, Linda (Rick) Stanchina of Iron Mountain. He also leaves his grandchildren Andrea (Nick) Blomberg, David (Connie) Carlsen, Scott (Nicole) Stanchina, Brian Stanchina, and Melissa (Scott) Ross, and his eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Edna Carlsen Baker of Green Bay; two special nieces, Kathleen Baker and Kay Carlson; a sister-in-law, Gladys White of Quinnesec; two brothers-in-law, Clarence White of Marquette, and Robert (Grayce) White of Iron Mountain, and their children.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow Carlsen, and by his daughter-in-law, Suzanne Ferris Carlsen.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Meredith Rupe will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
Edward's family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff and doctors at Dickinson County Healthcare System for their tender, respectful care during his final illness. Thank you, also, to all who visited or said a prayer to encourage and comfort.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.

Donald Wright
KINGSFORD - Donald Wright, 52, of 1601 W. Sagola, Kingsford, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
Don was born Feb.1, 1953, in Iron Mountain. He was the son of the late Thomas Sr. and Joan (Martin) Wright. Don was a 1971 graduate of Kingsford High School and has been a lifelong resident of this area.
He owned and operated the Wright Place Bar and Lounge in Quinnesec for many years. Don was a member of Bombers Golf Club.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, spending time with friends and sitting around the campfire. He was an avid St. Louis Rams fan.
He is survived by his daughters, Mandy (Brad) Barglind of Kingsford and Patti (Dave) Jones of North Dakota; a sister, Darlene (John) Lovato of Iron Mountain; his grandchildren, Braden and Briar Barglind, Brittany Kallenbach and Cassy Jones; an uncle, Gerald (Beverly) Wright of Iron Mountain; an aunt, Pat (John) Butler of Niagara, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Rosie Wright of Norway; and several nieces and nephews. Don also leaves his beloved dog, Bit-Bit.
In addition to his mother and father, Don was preceded in death by his very special friend, Brenda Yuhasey; his brother, Thomas Wright Jr. and sister, Betty Wright.
Vistitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.

Corinne Rice
IRON MOUNTAIN - Corinne H. Rice, 79, of Iron Mountain, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on Sept. 23, 1925, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Ewald and Viola (Zambon) Johnson. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School.
Corrine and her husband, Amos owned and operated the Ritz Bar in Spread Eagle, Wis. She was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Amos C. Rice of Iron Mountain; two daughters, Jeannine Finley of Kingsford and Gina (Tim) Dettman of Iron Mountain; two brothers, Ward (Bev) Johnson of Pudenville, lower Michigan, and Gary (Olive) Johnson of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Darrell (Angela) Finley, Dean (Heather) Finley, Danyel (Brian) Pipp, Jeffery Johnson, Braden Dettman, and Kyle Dettman; one great-grandchild, Nolan Pipp; and one daughter in-law, Kathy Rice.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Rice in 1994, and a son-in-law, Darrell E. Finley in 1998.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.
The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Leonard Cornelius O.F.M. will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Irma Burns
SAGOLA - Irma Elaine Burns, 77, of 8797 Leeman Road, Sagola, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.
She was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Sagola, daughter of the late Herman and Clara (Verbunker) Iverson.
Irma was a 1945 graduate of Channing High School and lived in the area her entire life. She married L.J. John Burns on Feb. 16, 1946, in Sagola. He preceded her in death in 1989.
Irma was a member of the quilters organization and was a volunteer at the Sagola grade school for many years. She enjoyed berry picking, fishing, painting, leather tooling and all types of needle work. Irma made quilts for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to can and cook. Irma was always very hospitable and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by five children, Dennis (Carolyn) Burns of Traverse City, lower Michigan, Sandie (Pat) Cuculi of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., Michael (Stephanie) Burns and Ann Marie Burns, both of Traverse City and Kenneth (Corliss) Burns of Crystal Falls; one brother, Gordon Iverson of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Wilma (Jim) Helgren of Channing; numerous nieces, nephews and other family; her very special friends, Sherry and Ron Process; 11 grandchildren, John (Marianna) Burns, Matthew (Nichelle) Burns, Ryan Burns (Jennifer Okragleski), Mike (Nancy) Cuculi, Michelle (Mike) Pfannenstiel, Hannah and Heather Burns, Shannon Burns, and JoJo, David and L.J. Burns; and four great-grandchildren, Morgan and Natalie Burns and Alan and Michael Schmidt.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Iverson and one sister, Audrey Korkiamaki.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Channing cemetery.

Margaret Gustafson
BELLEVUE, Wash. - Margaret O. Gustafson, 82, formerly of Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at the Overlake Hospital in Bellevue.
She was born on March 9, 1923, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Arvid and Garda (Andersen) Gustafson. Margaret was a life long resident and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1941.
She also graduated from Dundon's Business College. Margaret worked for Lake Inc. for nearly 40 years as an executive secretary and retired in 1984. She was also a member of the First Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sisters, LaVerne Roberts of Bellevue, formerly of Iron Mountain and Judy Miller of Bellevue; three nieces, Tina Frances of Iron Mountain, Lynne Miller of Redmond, Wash., and Kim St. Ours of Caldwell, Idaho and one nephew, Robert Gustafson of Milwaukee.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.

Earl Deiter
HARDWOOD - Earl J. Deiter, 53, of W 555 E. Fordville Road Hardwood, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Aurora Baycare Medical Center in Green Bay, Wis.
Earl was born Jan. 11, 1952, in Escanaba, son of the late Albert and Martha (Burnham) Deiter and has been a life long resident of this area.
Earl was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the United States Army.
On April 30, 1977, he married the former Cynthia Daigneault in Delta County.
Earl received his bachelor's degree in nursing and had worked as a nurse at the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center.
He was member of the Vietnam Veterans Association, the National Rifle Association, and U.P. Whitetails. Earl was an avid outdoor enthusiast and sports fan. He enjoyed hunting and watching his children participate in sports.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; four children, Brian (Heidi) Deiter of Bark River, Nicole (Patrick) Gillis of Gladstone, Shawn (Katie) Deiter of Bolingbrook, Ill., and Jessica (Nick Webster) Deiter of Green Bay; six grandchildren, Brandon Deiter, Justin Deiter, Brian Deiter Jr., Christin Deiter, Aaron Armatti Jr. and Alyssa Gillis; six brothers, Albert 'Sonny' (Mildred) Deiter of Milwaukee, LeRoy (Rita) Johnson of Escanaba, George Johnson of Sagola, Roy (Jeanette) Johnson of Escanaba, Patrick (Carol) Deiter of Marinette, Wis., and Robert Deiter of England; two sisters, Ann (Daniel) Haniel of Arizona and Loretta (Norbert) Beauchamp of Escanaba; His mother and father-in-law, James and Eileen Daigneault of Bark River, and many nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Bingo and Jake.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clark and Jerome Johnson, and a sister, Muriel Deiter.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
