Joyce Carlson
IRON MOUNTAIN - Joyce C. Carlson, 75, of 506 West H St., Iron Mountain, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, as a result of a car accident.
She was born March 8, 1929, in Spokane, Wash., daughter of the late Walfrid and Ellen (Erickson) Skoog. She was lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1947.
Joyce married
Russell Carlson on June 21, 1947, in Menominee.
She was a member of the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. Her family was the center of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Russell; one son, Greg (Caran) Carlson of Sheboygan, Wis.; one daughter, Karyn (Bruce) Bartolac of Niagara, Wis.; three grandchildren, Krissa (Brett) Secrist of Kingsford, Steven (Christina) Bartolac of West Allis, Wis. and David (Cassie) Bartolac of Green Bay, Wis.; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Secrist and Jack Bartolac.
Joyce was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Skoog and an infant brother, Eugene; and a sister, Ruby Heim.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First Covenant Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate. Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Pallbearers will be Steve and David Bartolac, Brett Secrist, Rusty and Robin Heim and Jeff DuBois.

Steven Theisen
IRON MOUNTAIN - Steven "T.I." Theisen, 48, of 728 E. Smith St., Iron Mountain, died unexpectedly of bacterial meningitis on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1956, in Iron Mountain, the son of Wayne Theisen and the late Nancy (Stohl) Theisen.
Steve graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1974. He was a life long resident of this area and worked for Tousignant Drywall.
Steve was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church and the Carpenter's Local 1510. He was the current president of the West Randville Sportsman's Association, on the board of directors of the United Sportsman's Club, and a member of Buckmasters.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed camp and the outdoors. Steve especially enjoyed spending time at camp WANATOSTKADA with his family, friends, and dog, Ozzy.
In past years, Steve was a drummer and played in several blues bands, and he enjoyed rock and roll music.
Steve loved family and was considered "real cool" by his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his son, Jesse Theisen of Kingsford; a special friend, Tammy Newingham of Kingsford; his father, Wayne of Randville; two brothers and one sister, Torvin (Pam) Theisen of Ontonagon, Kathy (Kevin) McCrary of Green Bay, Wis. and Daniel (Darlene) Theisen of Appleton, Wis.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 12 noon on Saturday at the church. Rev. Peter Jonas will officiate. Pallbearers will be members of the West Randville Sportsman Club, Bob Bouche, Kenny Bednarz, Dave and Mike Celello, and Rick and Roy Nelson.

Michael J. Hanson
KINGSFORD - Michael J. Hanson, 58, of 437 Fulton St., Kingsford, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, after a courageous battle with a rare brain disease known as Multiple System Atrophy.
Mike was born on Oct. 17, 1946, in Iron Mountain and has been a resident of this area his entire life. He was a 1965 graduate of Kingsford High School.
Mike served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era 1967 to 1970. He was employed for 34 years at Stora Enso Paper Mill in Niagara, Wis. and had retired in 2003. He was a member of the United Paperworkers Union.
He married
the former Kathleen Olson of Crystal Falls on July 11, 1994.
He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time in the wilderness, hunting and four wheeling with his wife and brother.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kathy; stepson, Dean Sleik Jr. of Saginaw; his father, Gerald Hanson of Kingsford; his brother, Don Hanson of Kingsford; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a special caregiver, Trish Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Hanson.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Rev. Darryl Small will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

LeAnn Marie Black
QUINNESEC - LeAnn Marie Black, 6, affectionately known as 'little bug, ' of 669 Bluff St., Quinnesec, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
LeAnn was in kindergarten at Woodland Elementary School. She attended church and Sunday school at Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec.
LeAnn loved cheerleading. She had just finished her second cheerleading clinic and had recently performed at the Kingsford varsity basketball game this past Friday night.
She loved and collected horses. LeAnn also loved her dog, Scruffy. Riding and steering 'scoop' the backhoe and going to the little house to hunt were some of her favorite things to do.
LeAnn is survived by her mother, Traci Oliver of Quinnesec; her father, Douglas (Liz Young) Black of Kingsford; her sister, Olivia Marie Oliver of Quinnesec; maternal grandparents, Doug and Joan Oliver of Quinnesec; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Rae Black of Sagola; maternal great-grandparents, Paul and Phyllis Forstrom of Quinnesec and Barbara Oliver of East Kingsford; Godparents, 'Unc' Paul Oliver of Quinnesec and special cousin, Kati Jo Anderson of Niagara; uncles, Gene Black of Sagola and Mark (Sherrie) Black of Iron Mountain; aunt, Amy Galbraith of Quinnesec; great-aunts and uncles, Kathy Jo (Joe) Anderson of Niagara, Wis., Leila (Jim) Canavera of Quinnesec, Gary (Laurie) Oliver of Aurora, Wis. and Bob Oliver of Green Bay, Wis.; a cousin, Logan Galbraith and her special friends, Sydney and Sabrina Wickman and Sydney Corsi.
LeAnn was preceded in death by her great grandpa, Dale Oliver, great great-grandma, Emily Nelson and uncle, David 'Uncle Buck' Oliver.
Visitation will held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m Friday at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec.
Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church. Licensed Lay Minister, Cynthia E. Cowen will officiate. Pallbearers will be, Douglas Oliver, Paul Oliver, Paul Forstrom, Gene Black and Eugene Black
Burial will be at the Quinnesec cemetery.
A memorial will be established in her memory.

Karen Proffitt
KINGSFORD - Karen L. Proffitt, 58, of Kingsford, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born Sept. 16, 1946, in Ypsilanti, lower Michigan. Karen has been a resident of Kingsford for the past 11 years. She had worked for AGAPE and New Star for several years.
Karen was a member of the Saintly Stitchers and enjoyed quilting and sewing. She enjoyed scrapbooking and was involved in the Relay for Life.
She is survived by her son, Scott Proffitt of Kingsford; her stepfather, Leslie Frosch; one sister, Sandy (Tom) Pierson of Pinckney, lower Michigan; one stepbrother, Doug (Lucy) Frosch of Hillsdale, lower Michigan; and two brothers, Scott (Gladys) Wilson of Ann Arbor, lower Michigan and Charles Wilson of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Frosch in 1996.
Private family services will be held.

Linda Rusch
RANDVILLE - Linda M. Rusch, 93, of Randville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1911, in Mountain Lake, Minn., daughter of the late Isaac and Susie (Bargen) Ott.
Linda accepted the Lord as a teenager and trusted in Him all of her life.
She moved to the Randville area with her parents in 1933, and has been a resident since that time. There she met and married
Clayton Rusch on Dec. 26, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1966.
Linda was a founding member of the Randville Bible Church and has been a faithful member for many years. She enjoyed reading and crafts, loved to travel, and had a wonderful doll collection.
She is survived by four children, Larry (Janice) Rusch, Edith Mitchem and Thomas Rusch, all of Randville and Jerry (Jeanne) Rusch of Salisburg, Md.; one sister, Mabel Clark of Norway; eight grandchildren, Pamela and Paula, Darryl, Shari, Todd, and Darrin, Julia and Jill; six great-grandchildren, Ethan and Eric, James and Michael, Malachi and Abigail.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Mitchem and two brothers, John and George Ott and one sister, Florence Sparks.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Blaine Donaldson and Rev. James Danielson will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the Randville Community Hall.
Burial will be in the Channing cemetery.

Ena Krueger
IRON MOUNTAIN - Ena R. Krueger, 83, of 124 W. Grant St., Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at ManorCare Health Care Services in Kingsford.
Ena was born June 27, 1921, in Loretto, the daughter of the late Nels and Lilia (Gori) Maraccini. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1940 and has been a lifelong resident of this area.
Ena married
Kenneth R. Krueger on Sept. 7, 1946, at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilt making, painting, and gardening.
Ena is survived by her husband, Kenneth; two sons, Steve (Debra) Krueger of Hamilton Lakes and Randy (Betty Ann) Krueger of Breitung Township; two brothers, Louis Maraccini of Breitung Township and Geno (Doris) Maraccini of Iron Mountain; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Karen Hoes
NORWAY TOWNSHIP - Karen K. Hoes, 68, of W3963 Lake Mary Drive North, Hamilton Lakes, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at her home.
Karen was born Nov. 11, 1936, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Ernest and Alice (Patrick) Lidbeck. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1956 and was a resident of the area most of her life.
Karen married
Melvin Hoes on Dec. 9, 1973, at First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain.
She worked as a cook and waitress at various supper clubs for many years. Karen was an active member of First Covenant Church and a member of the Covenant Women. She loved to cook, bake and travel. Karen also enjoyed ceramics, country western concerts, going to religious retreats and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She was known as 'Nana' to her grandchildren and was a very special person.
Karen is survived by her husband, Melvin; two sons, Michael (Alison) Moyer of Iron Mountain and Daniel Sr. (Tina) Moyer of Quinnesec; a daughter, Michele (Steve) Romitti of Florence, Wis.; three stepchildren, Ed, Sue and Alan Hoes, all of Manitowoc, Wis.; two brothers, Ernest 'Larry' (Darlene) Lidbeck of Kingsford and Donald Lidbeck of Crystal Falls; a sister, Bonnie (Earl) Sexton of Kingsford; five grandchildren, Erin (Brad) Brennan, Ryan Garrett (Krysta Rittenhouse), Dan Moyer Jr. (Katie Simkins), Tracy Garrett (Arden Smith) and Cheyenne Moyer; two great-grandchildren, Kevin Brennan and Kalei Rittenhouse; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate. Burial will be in Norway Township cemetery.
