Margaret Blanco
IRON MOUNTAIN - Margaret M. Blanco, 83, of 1007 West B St., Iron Mountain, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at her home.
Margaret was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Frank and Francis (Jean) Reindle.
She was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and a graduate of Iron Mountain High School. She moved to Chicago during her working career as an assembly line worker at the Borg-Warner Co., returning to Iron Mountain to retire.
Margaret is survived by her son, Ron Blanco of Houghton and a sister, Darlene Baxter of Iron Mountain.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Rucinski and a brother, Zeke Reindle.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Philip Person
IRON MOUNTAIN - Philip H. Person, 83, of N3768 Moon Lake Drive, Iron Mountain, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Hyland Nursing Home.
Philip was born on June 27, 1921, in Iron Mountain, the eldest son of Henry C. and Vera M. (Sundin) Person, a pioneer family of Iron Mountain.
Philip graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1939. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operation against the Japanese in Okinawa.
On Nov. 6, 1941, he married Kathleen B. Paige of Quinnesec in Iron Mountain and they celebrated 54 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 1995.
Philip worked for Lake Shore Inc. from 1946 to 1972 as a factory manager for the Iron Mountain and Marquette plants. He then owned and operated Super Tool & Engineering in Kingsford.
He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, and a past member of the Chippewa Club, Pine Grove Country Club, and the Breitung Township School Board of Education.
He is survived by two daughters, Diane Schumacher of Akron, Ohio, and Pamela (Don) Edens Jr. of Kingsford; one brother, Conrad Person of Iron Mountain; two grandchildren, Steve (Tracey) Edens of Waukesha, Wis. and Mark Edens of Iron Mountain; one brother-in-law, Henry Romagnoli; three sisters-in-law, Maxine Person, Irene Person, and Shirley Person; two great-grandchildren, Kirsten and Madison Edens and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant twin daughter, Dawne Kay Person and a brother, Henry O. Person.
Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Steve Edens, Mark Edens, Bill Edens, Don Lee, Rick Klingelhutz, Robert Cory, Dwight Romagnoli, Henry Romagnoli and Don Edens Sr.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Frank Cavicchioni
IRON MOUNTAIN - Frank Cavicchioni, 83, of 730 E. Stanton St., Iron Mountain, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Mariano and Madeline (Badini) Cavicchioni. Frank was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and served his country during World War II.
He was the recipient of the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the European-African Theater of Operations ribbon with three Bronze Battle Stars, and the Combat Infantry Badge. Frank was cited for his heroic action on Oct. 18, 1944, while serving near Gharduzzi, Italy, for which he received the Bronze Star.
He married Julia Palluconi on May 4, 1946, at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain and they enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage.
Frank was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Order of the Purple Heart, The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and a former member of the Elks Club.
Frank loved gardening at his greenhouse, making wine, and was an avid Packer fan. He owned and operated Frank's Place on the northside of Iron Mountain for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Julia; two daughters, Judith (Robert) Sanicki of Niagara, Wis. and Kristine (Normand) Fontaine of Green Bay, Wis.; five grandchildren, Julia (Mike) Berglund, Paul Sanicki, Anne Sanicki, Andrea Fontaine, and Brianne Fontaine; six great-grandchildren, Abbigail, Joseph, Matthew, Ian, Layla, and Jesse; and one brother, Eugene (Helen) Cavicchioni of Iron Mountain.
Frank was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Cavicchioni and a sister, Evelyn Tousignant.
Private family visitation was held today at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Msgr. James Kaczmarek officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Berglund, Paul Sanicki, Peter and Paul Lundy, Mike Church and Jim Cavicchioni.
Burial was in cemetery Park.
The Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Rosemary Varnadore
IRON MOUNTAIN - Rosemary Varnadore, 41, of 1124 S. Kimberly Ave., Iron Mountain, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Rosemary was born Feb. 21, 1964, in Iron Mountain. She was a graduate of Kingsford High School.
Rosemary had lived in Arkansas for many years. She enjoyed crafts, arranging flowers and ceramics
She is survived by her children, Brian Varnadore and Jennifer Varnadore, both of Iron Mountain; her father and stepmother, James and Clara Fruik of Breitung Township; five brothers, James Fruik Jr. of Tampa, Fla., Paul (Sue) Fruik of Tampa, Chuck Fruik of Iron Mountain, Jerry Fruik of Appleton, Wis. and Dan (Debbie) Fruik of Maryland; two sisters, Sharon (Keith) Wirkus of Shawano, Wis. and Terri Fruik of Iron Mountain; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan on Dec. 5, 2001.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Lee Liverance will officiate.
Burial will be in the Sagola Township cemetery.

Verna Grailer
KINGSFORD - Verna M. Grailer, 88, of 200 Morrison St., Kingsford, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Dec.12, 1916, in Daggett, the daughter of the late Andrew and Ann (CaLour) Walton.
Mrs. Grailer was a lifelong resident of the area. She enjoyed fishing and going to camp.
She married Louis Grailer on Dec. 28, 1935, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1978.
Verna is survived by three sons, William (Shirley), Albert 'Pooch' (Ursula) and Jerry 'Dimps' (Susan) Grailer, all of Kingsford; one daughter, Teresa (Pete) Rossato of Kingsford; 12 grandchildren, Mike (Debbie) Grailer, Lisa Grailer, Steve Grailer, Brian (Rose) Grailer, Jim (Jeannine) Grailer, Jerry Grailer Jr., Randy (Gidget) Grailer, Cathy (Pat) Babb, Robert Grailer, MaryKay (Heath) Buechel, David (Athena) Grailer, and Michael Grailer; 27 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by a son, Edward, on Nov. 20, 1992; and by her brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
The Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Florence Bietila
KINGSFORD - Florence E. Bietila, 76, of Evergreen Apartments in Kingsford, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.
Florence was born April 10, 1928, in Ishpeming, the daughter of the late Carl and Florence (Hallgren) Swanson. She graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1946.
Florence married Walter Bietila on Nov. 20, 1946, in Ishpeming and they have lived in the Iron Mountain area since that time. Walter preceded Florence in death on March 21, 1996.
She was a member of First Covenant Church and the Covenant Women. Florence enjoyed studying the Bible, watching golf and baseball, cooking and traveling to Texas with Walter.
She is survived by a son, Walter (April) Bietila of Gainesville, Fla.; two daughters, Joanne (John) Taylor of Iron Mountain and Gretchen Williams of Alachua, Fla.; two brothers, Hartley (Joyce) Swanson of Kentwood, lower Michigan and Edwall (Judy) Swanson of Ishpeming; two sisters, Harriet (Robert) Maki of Ishpeming and Anita Henrickson of Minnesota; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Tuomela-Swanson of Ishpeming and Dolores Swanson of National Mine; two brothers-in-law, Ralph (Pat) Bietila of Ishpeming and Arnold Hoiem of Negaunee; five grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica) Taylor, Jordan Taylor (fiance Jamaica Steele), Leah Taylor, Zachary Bietila and Luke Bietila; a great-granddaughter, Adrienne Grace Taylor; special friend, Elaine Cheney and numerous nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Bob and Warren Swanson and a son-in-law, Art Williams.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. Peter Erickson and Pastor John Taylor will co-officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Ishpeming.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.

Charles Carl
KEYES LAKE, Wis. - Charles J. Carl, 72, of Keyes Lake, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Lake Havasu City Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
He was born April 16, 1932, in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Chester and Agnes (LeGrave) Carl. Chuck was a 1950 graduate of Kingsford High School.
He served with the U.S.Army in Company B, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Division during the Korean War from 1950-1953. His service decorations include the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the Purple Heart, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Chuck retired after working for Kingsford Broach and Tool for more than 20 years.
He married the former Carol Gustafson on Sept. 14, 1963, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2003.
Chuck was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Florence. He was also a member of the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Elks Club, the Florence Masonic Lodge and the Florence Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Chuck enjoyed spending the winters in Lake Havasu and summers at Keyes Lake. He also enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. Chuck was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following Green Bay Packer football. Following his retirement he took care of many lawns in the Keyes Lake area.
He is survived by his sons, James (Vanessa) Carl of Kingsford and Joseph (Terry) Carl of Albuquerque, N.M. ; a brother, Thomas (Sally) Carl of Royal Oak, lower Michigan; four sisters, Geraldine (Kenneth) Shampo of Niagara, Wis., Yvonne (Kleo) Hanson of Kingsford, Mary Lee (Ronald) Melelli of Loretto and Patricia (Thomas) Wickman of Iron Mountain; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Kay (Charlevoix) and an infant sister, Jean.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Masonic services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Douglas Johnson and Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate.
Burial will be in the Woodlawn cemetery in Florence.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
