Terry Oleksy
DEERTON - Terry E. Oleksy, 52, of Deerton, Alger County, went to be with his Lord and maker on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.
Terry was born October 28, 1952, in Marquette. He served for seven years with the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a sergeant, E-5.
Terry loved and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing his instruments and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Betty Lou Oleksy of Colorado; his mother, Lois Oleksy of Norway; a brother, Michael Oleksy of Florida; sisters, Joyce Oleksy of Norway and Janice (Mike) Comeaux of Biloxi, Miss.; maternal sisters, Debbie Hanford of Marquette and Mrs. Mahmoud Sayad of Chicago.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Chester Oleksy in June 2004.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Kingsford Funeral Home in Kingsford.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate
Burial will be in the Norway Township cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.

Shirley Rochon
POWERS - Shirley M. Rochon, 79, of Pinecrest Medical Facility in Powers, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born June 2, 1925, in Sheboygan, Wis., daughter of the late Albert and Phyllis (DeGenaus) Balthazore.
Shirley married
Henry J. Rochon in 1943. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1973. She lived in the area her entire life and enjoyed playing bingo, doing crafts and going to the casino.
Shirley is survived by two daughters, Sharon (David) Conrad of Pittsboro, Ind. and Rhonda (Dan Holmberg) Rochon of Iron Mountain; three brothers, Michael Duncun, Patrick Koeller and Ted Balthazore; five sisters, Sandra Jacques, Carol Jean Micheau, Audrey Dubord, Patricia Ketchum and Sharon LaVigne; six grandchildren, Lori (Gary) Szuslik, Scott and Gary Chapman, Dana Rochon, and Tara and April; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; two sons, Keith and Duane Rochon; two daughters, Sharon and Mary Rochon; and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be today from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow today at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
Burial will be in Meyer Township cemetery in Hermansville.

James Wixtrom
REPUBLIC - James Derald Wixtrom, 75, of Republic died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at his home after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Witch Lake, son of the late Seth and Mae (Doan) Wixtrom. He married
Helen Janofski on Aug. 3, 1957, and was a lifelong resident of Witch Lake.
James began his employment early in his life working on the family farm, sawmill, and logging operation. He helped his father establish Wixtrom Lumber Company. He started his own logging business, which later became James Wixtrom and Sons Forest Products.
James enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping, and was a jack of all trades.
During his illness he studied the Swedish language. He was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola where he served as an elder and deacon. He was a former charter member of the First Baptist Church of Witch Lake.
He served on the Republic Township Board of Review, zoning board, and housing commission. He was a member of the Timber Producers Association, and helped establish the Witch Lake Corporation.
James is survived by his wife, Helen; three sons, Kelvin (Chris) of Bath, lower Michigan, Gregory of Republic and Michael (Belinda) of Republic; six grandchildren, Seth, Rachel, Matthew, Kelcey, Tyler and Brent; two brothers, Bruce (Arleen) Wixtrom of Republic and William (Luana) Wixtrom; three sisters, Marcy Houlmont of Marquette, Donna (Arvid) Erickson and Nancy (Fred) Spanton of Foley, Ala., an uncle, aunts, and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother.
Visitation will be on Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola.
Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the church. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Richard Johnson, Budd Buffenbarger, John Janofski, Tim Loeks, Herb Smith, Vance Jones and Larry Holsworth.
Burial will be in Republic cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola or to WHWL Radio Station in Marquette.

Lorette Post
KINGSFORD - Lorette M. Post, 90, of 425 Grant St, Kingsford, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on June 7, 1914, in Lena, Wis., the daughter of the late Roger and Anna (Riha) Burbey.
She was a 1932 graduate of Kingsford High School.
Mrs. Post worked as a telephone operator at Michigan/Wisconsin Bell for 43 years, retiring in 1976.
Lorette was instrumental in organizing the union and served as president of C.W.A. and as a union steward. She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church, the Lady Elks and United Commercial Travelers (UCT).
She enjoyed dancing, cooking, and entertaining her neighbors with homemade soups and desserts.
She married
Forrest Post on June 16, 1934, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He preceded her in death exactly 30 years earlier on Jan. 4, 1975.
Mrs. Post is survived by one daughter, Polly (Phillip) Peterson of Kingsford; one son, Donald (Sandra) of Cameron, Wis.; one sister, Rosemary (Erdmann) Perry and her husband, Alex, of Tucson, Ariz; seven grandchildren, Scott Peterson, Lori (Herman) Hinz, Roger (Patty) Post, Gary (Patsy) Harkness, Victoria (Jeremy) Zeller, Leona (Darren) Glattfelder, and Paula (Joel) Johnson; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one niece, Lynn Bonner of Tucson; and one nephew, Kenneth Burbey of Fredonia, Wis.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ambrose and Gregory Burbey.
Visitation will be held Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeview cemetery in Escanaba.

Viola Roberts
IRON MOUNTAIN - Viola A. Roberts, 85, of 813 Fleshiem St., Iron Mountain, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Viola was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Niagara, Wis., and was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Younghquist) Skoog. Viola has been a lifelong resident of this area.
She married
Luther R. Roberts on June 10, 1944, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2003.
Viola worked as a nurse's aide at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital and ManorCare Health Services for several years. She also owned and operated Roberts Market in 25 Location for 20 years.
Viola was an active member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed cooking, baking and babysitting her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Richard (Sandra) Roberts of Kingsford and John (Candace) Roberts of Iron Mountain; a daughter, Gail (Jack) Christoff of Schaumberg, Ill.; a sister, Lillian Bouffiou of Iron Mountain; 10 grandchildren, Anna Roberts, Richard Jr. (Donna) Roberts, Doug (Tracy) Roberts, Rebecca Roberts, Michael (Carley Morris) Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Jennifer Christoff, Jeffrey Christoff, Brad Christoff and Bryan Christoff; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Viola was preceded in death by her brothers, Ragnar, Ivar, and Gunnar Lundquist and sisters, Hilma Cecco, Agnes Hilborn and Linnea Schei.
Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. Rev. Peter Jonas will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park. Viola's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Leno St. Juliana
KINGSFORD - Leno J. St. Juliana, 85, of Kingsford, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, peacefully at his home.
He was born on March 9, 1919, in Hermansville, son of the late John and Catherine (Busellato) St. Juliana. He graduated from Hermansville High School in 1937.
Leno married
Elizabeth Nault on Sept. 6, 1941, in Spalding. He served with the United States Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945 during World War II and served as a gunnery instructor. He was a resident of Kingsford since 1946.
Leno worked for the V.A. Hospital as the warehousing supervisor until his retirement in June of 1979. He also owned and operated the Michi-Aho Motel in the Crystal Falls area for 11 years.
He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Leno enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Leno is survived by his wife, Elizabeth 'Betty' St. Juliana; two sons, Leno (Patricia) St. Juliana of Crystal Falls and Dr. Ronald (Linda) St. Juliana of Wheaton, Ill.; one brother, John (Dorothy) St. Juliana of Hermansville; six grandchildren, Leno Jason St. Juliana and Dennis Michael St. Juliana, Justin Ronald St. Juliana, Alexis Elizabeth St. Juliana, Elizabeth Marie Walsh, and Jeffery Brian Wasilewski. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Angelo and Eval and four sisters, Angelina Massignan, Mary Sartori, Mildred Dani and Irma Dani.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Hermansville cemetery.

Kenneth Baumel
IRON MOUNTAIN - Kenneth N. Baumel, 67, of 129 Lehman Ave. Iron Mountain died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born on June 14, 1937, in Kingsford the son of the late Harold and Lorraine (Dalberto) Baumel.
Mr. Baumel served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from San Francisco State University and worked as a communication specialist for the government. He also worked as a realtor.
He married
Neva Mechow on March 11, 1967, in California.
Ken is survived by his wife, Neva; two daughters Lauralee (Scott) Balash of Iron Mountain and Maryjane Baumel of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Andrew of Clackamas, Ore., and Kenneth of Portland, Ore.; two grandchildren, Ian Baumel-Menendez and Ashley Mechow; and many special relatives in the Iron Mountain-Kingsford area.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy.
Burial will be in the Willamette National cemetery in Portland, Ore.
