Joseph Galeazzi
QUINNESEC - Joseph A. Galeazzi, 62, of Quinnesec, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain after fighting a long, courageous battle with leukemia.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1942, the son of the late John and Vivian (VanPae) Galeazzi.
Joe was a lifelong resident of the area. He worked for 37 years at Grede Foundry.
He played for several softball teams, including Tom and Jo's, which he later coached. Joe enjoyed fishing and was an avid Flivver, Packer, and Michigan State fan. He was also a diehard Tiger fan. He really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He married
Linda Lefleur on Jan. 17, 1959, in Iron Mountain.
Joe leaves his wife of 46 years, Linda; three children, Dianne (Bruce) Mashak of Kingsford, Vicki (Kevin) Kleisner of Kingsford and Joseph of Chicago; five sisters, Jackie Galeazzi of Appleton, Wis., Jean (Fred) Seaburger of Indiana, Margaret Akstulewicz of Leapolis, Wis., Joanne Alexander of Iron Mountain and Kaye Gardiepy of Iron Mountain; three brothers, John of Menasha, Wis., Albert (Carol) of Iron Mountain and Gerald of Kingsford; one brother-in-law, Donald (Mimi) Christensen of Kingsford; eight grandchildren, Danielle, Trever and Travis Mashak, Stephanie, Whitney, and Tarah Hicks, and Ryan and Erik Kleisner and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joan Lynn; one sister, Vicky Chiamulera; and two brothers, James and David.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
The Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert Despins
IRON MOUNTAIN - Robert H. Despins, 80, of 104 N. Merritt Ave. Iron Mountain, died on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born Nov. 22, 1924, in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Leo and Cecelia (Micheau) Despins.
Bob was a lifelong resident and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1943. He also graduated from Dundon's Business College with a degree in accounting. Bob was an army veteran of World War II.
He married
Eleanor Clements of April 23, 1949, at the First Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. Bob had worked at the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain for 32 years, retiring in 1981.
He was an avid golfer and a member of Pine Grove Country Club for 50 years. He was also a member of the Iron Mountain Elks Lodge, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and Friends of the Forest. Bob was active in the Special Olympics and participated in the Special Kids Camp at Lost Lake in Tipler, Wis.
He is survived by three sons, David (Lori) Despins of Marinette, Wis., John (Valerie) Despins of Westerville, Ohio, and Brian Despins of Iron Mountain; a daughter, Mary Despins of Iron Mountain; two brothers and two sisters, Marion (Floyd) Olson of Kingsford, Leo 'Joe' (Luella) Despins of Iron Mountain, Thomas (Lona) Despins of Superior, Wis., and Carol Ryan of Beaver Dam, Wis.; five grandchildren; Denise, Keith, Emily, Cory and Benjamin Despins and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was also preceded in death by an infant son, Robert George Despins, and by two brothers, James and Alan Despins.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Memorial services will be at noon Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Robert Mueller will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Gertrude Antonini
IRON MOUNTAIN - Gertrude M. Antonini, 84, of 505 Dickinson Blvd., Kingsford, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Quinnesec, daughter of the late Emery and Frances (Krosco) Christnagel.
Gert worked at various places in the area.
She was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford and was a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
She enjoyed riding her Harley-Davidson and was a member of the Mountaineer Motorcycle Club.
Gert enjoyed being with her grandchildren and taking care of everybody. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and music.
She married
Louis Antonini in Quinnesec in the winter of 1938.
Gert is survived by three children, Theresa Kayser of Iron Mountain, Joe (Vicky) of Spread Eagle, Wis., and Dan (Pat Herman) of Kingsford; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will celebrate the Mass.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Queen of Peace Church.

John L. James
IRON MOUNTAIN - John L. 'Jack' James, 86, of 1108 Cedar Ave. Iron Mountain, died, Wednesday, Jan.12, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born March 10, 1918, in Rhinelander, Wis., son of the late Garnet and Alice (Melis) James. Jack was a 1937 graduate of Iron Mountain High School.
He served with the United States Army during World War II. Jack worked for 20 years at the Nuway Body Shop and retired as the shop manager in 1983.
He loved to golf and was a longtime member of Oak Crest Golf Club in Norway. Jack also enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.
He is survived by his son, John (Carolyn) James of Waukesha, Wis.; daughters, Shirley (Antoine) Carnal of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Jane (Larry) Cynowa of West Allis, Wis.; sisters, Betty Thomas of Iron Mountain, Alice Derwinski of Kingsford and Marge (Kenneth) Nelson of Florida; three grandchildren, Rodney (Debbie) Opat, Dawn (Michael) Scaffidi and Laurie Hoffman; eight great-grandchildren, Ryan, Tayler, Jared, Marcus, Nicolette, Kristina, Michael and Matthew.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, John Baginski and Robert 'Bobby' James; a brother, Robert James and a sister, Ethel Barham.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m Saturday, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Richard Massicotte
IRON MOUNTAIN - Richard H. 'Dick' Massicotte, 93, of 1514 W. Hughitt St., Iron Mountain, died, Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.
Dick was born Aug. 28, 1911, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Amos and Aldea (Trottier) Massicotte.
He married
Lillian M. Peterson in March of 1943, in Niagara, Wis. She preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1991.
Dick worked as a meat cutter and salesman for Vollwerth Meats for many years until retiring in 1973.
He was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain and the United Commercial Travelers. Dick was a knowledgeable historian of the local area and an avid cribbage player.
He is survived by a son, Robert J. (Lorraine) Massicotte of Kingsford; four daughters, Eyvonne (Mike) Kennedy of Black Creek, Wis., Aldea Loar of Kingsford, Juanita (Gary) Radey of Green Bay, Wis. and Penny (Tom) Dailey of Iron Mountain; two brothers, Archie Massicotte of Chicago and Robert Massicotte of Aurora, Wis.; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Dick was also preceded in death by a brother, Leo Massicotte; a sister, Yvonne Thompson; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Willa Massicotte.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Parish prayers will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in cemetery Park.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Pallbearers will be Jason Dailey, Paul Loar, Bob Massicotte, Bill Massicotte, Brian Massicotte and Eric Radey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Patricia Fox
SPREAD EAGLE, Wis. - Patricia A. 'Teter' Fox, 74, of Spread Eagle, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born July 12, 1930, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Abbott and Dorothy (Brown) Fox. She was a 1948 graduate of Iron Mountain High School, received her bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado and master's degree from the University of Michigan.
Following her college graduation, Teter taught school in California and worked as a social worker for the Iron Mountain School System.
She worked many years as a social worker for the Milwaukee Public Schools and following her retirement, returned to Spread Eagle.
Teter was co-owner and very involved in the management of the Dorothy Fox Forest in Spread Eagle. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She served as a deacon of the church and was active in Bible study.
Teter loved animals and was very fond of dogs. She was a big supporter of the local humane societies. She was an avid gardener and loved spending time with her family.
Teter is survived by her sister, Susan (Bud) Neitzel of Spread Eagle; a nephew and three nieces, Wade (Karen Carney) Neitzel of Madison, Wis., Dorothy (Jason) Snebold of Onalaska, Wis., Amy (Jeff) Klemp of Franklin, Wis. and Janis (Mike) Parkinson of Verona, Wis.; seven great-nieces and great-nephews, Shanna, Abby, Matt, Sarah, Anthony, Corey and Nicole; and many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford.
Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her memory to the First Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund or the SpringLake Humane Society.
