Walter Anderson
HOMESTEAD, Wis. - Walter 'Everett' Anderson, 92, formerly of Homestead, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 28, 1912, in Homestead, son of the late Charles and Ellen (Pearson) Anderson. Everett was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1930.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Everett had worked for the VA Medical Center as building management supervisor for many years before retiring.
He was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Golden K and the Dickinson County Pilot's Association.
He is survived by two sisters, Doris VanHaute of Aurora, Wis. and Olive Richard of Eau Claire; nieces and nephews, Donna Holton of Aurora, Marlene Ethier of Rock Springs, Wyo., Allen VanHaute of Green Bay, Wis., Keith Richard Jr. of Eau Claire and Thomas Richard of Appleton, Wis.; several great nieces and great nephews; and a special friend, Genevieve Dario of Iron Mountain.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. Rev. Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church.

Robert Branstrom
FELCH - Robert B. Branstrom, 85, of Felch, joined his siblings in the arms of our Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 26. 2005.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1920, in Felch, and has been a resident of this area for most of his life. Bob was the son of the late Charles and Ida (Anderson) Branstrom.
Bob served during World War II in the United States Army. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
Bob is survived by a sister, Leona Burgie of Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Edwin, Kelly, Wallace, and Lawrence Branstrom and two sisters, Signe and Dagney Branstrom.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Bill Jacobson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Felch cemetery.
A memorial will be established in his memory at the Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan.

Evelyn Strong
IRON MOUNTAIN - Evelyn A. Strong, 86, of 1009 West B St., Iron Mountain, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at the Hyland Nursing Home.
She was born June 5, 1918, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Thomas and Lucy (Rule) Raymond.
Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1936.
She had taught Sunday School years ago and was currently a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She married
Sam Strong on July 14, 1941, in Iron Mountain while Sam was on leave during World War II.
Evelyn enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and had made many trips to Las Vegas with her daughter, Sue. She was proud to be a stay-at-home mom and was very devoted to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Sam Strong; three daughters, Sandra Strong of Richmond, Va., Susan (Michael) Youngberg of Breitung Township, and Karen (Ossie) Weinert of Kingsford; one sister, Margaret LeFebvre of Hyland Nursing Home; two grandchildren, Chris Strong and Ossie (Tina) Weinert; two great-grandchildren, Shelby and Kaylee; special friends, Robin Johnson, Mary Fitzgibbon, Beatrice Walz, Jean Conte, and Joanne LaPointe; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel John Weinert; her brother, Thomas Raymond, and her sister, Lucille Raymond.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Meredith Rupe will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Minnie Nelson
KINGSFORD - Minnie M. Nelson, 100, of Kingsford, died, Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born May 9, 1904, in Mount Carmel, Ill. She was the daughter of the late Shulor and Maud (Smith) Coleman. Minnie lived in the Chicago area from 1926-1969.
In 1969, she moved to Spread Eagle, Wis. and has lived in this area since. Minnie was proud of the fact that she had lived in six different states.
She loved to crochet and make crafts out of plastic. Minnie was a member of the Dickinson County Hospital League and made 75 aprons one year for the hospital league. She also had more than 500 volunteer hours at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. She was a faithful member of the First Covenant Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold F. Wrede, in April 1950 and by her second husband, Gust O. Nelson, in October 1993.
Minnie is survived by her son, Harold (Karyn) Wrede of Manchester, Tenn.; her daughter, Marge (John) Paun of Ponce Inlet, Fla.; a sister, Virginia (Albert) Miehle of Des Plaines, Ill.; four grandchildren, Tammy, Alison, Eileen and Donald Wrede and several great- grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Edward Wrede; and four brothers, Robert, Maurice, Jerauld, and John Coleman.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 1 p.m. from the Short-Cunningham Funeral Home in Mount Carmel.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill cemetery in Mount Carmel .

Robert Beairl
IRON MOUNTAIN - Robert Beairl, 80, of 110 West F. St., Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at Pinecrest Medical Facility in Powers.
He was born Oct. 13, 1924, and had been a resident of this area for most of his life.
Bob worked in the woods as a logger for many years and ran a small flea market business years ago. He had also done maintenance for some bars in the local area.
He was a resident of Morton Manor Adult Foster Care and enjoyed activities at the Family Ties. Robert attended the First Baptist Church in Iron Mountain.
He is survived by friend and caregiver, Roselind and Charles Morton and friends at Morton Manor Care including Butch Nelson, Tim Anderson, and David Scott along with friends at Family Ties.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Keith Wall will officiate.

Frances M. Serbinski
IRON MOUNTAIN - Frances M. Serbinski, 81, of 700 West Brown St. Iron Mountain, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home in Niagara, Wis.
Frances was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Gaastra, the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Piasta) Busakowski. She graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1941.
Frances married
Theodore Serbinski in June of 1951 in Iron River. He preceded her in death in November of 1971. Frances worked for a publishing company as a bookkeeper for several years. She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. She enjoyed reading and collecting agates.
Frances is survived by a daughter, Mary (Edward) Sergy of Breitung Township; a son, Theodore (Mary) Serbinski of Stafford, Va.; two sisters, Helen Busakowski of Iron River and Rose (Ralph) Van Wagner of L'Anse; six grandchildren, Sara Sergy, Julie (Joe) Broullire, and Ted Jr., Matthew, Lynette and James Serbinski; and one great-granddaughter, Mickayla.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Michael, Stanley, Isodore and Paul Busakowski; and four sisters, Agnes Grace, Katherine Sheehan, Margaret Zini and Mary Busakowski.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be at Stambaugh cemetery.

Bertha Hill
IRON MOUNTAIN - Bertha I. Hill, 91, formerly of Kingsford and Quinnesec, died, Wednesday, Jan.19, 2005, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain.
She was born March 12, 1913, in Champion, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Valimaki) Virta. She was a graduate of Champion High School. Bertha has been a resident of this area since 1944.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Angelo P. Bonetti. Bertha married
Robert S. Hill on Oct. 21, 1944, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1979.
Bertha was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, the Elizabeth Circle of the church and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Auxiliary. She loved to work wordfind puzzles and play cards. She enjoyed her sewing and birthday club. Bertha's life consisted of caregiving. She loved children and was caregiver to many children and several adults throughout the years.
Bertha is survived by her son, Louis Bonetti of Iron River; a daughter, Margaret (Edward) Simbob of Quinnesec; a stepson, Robert (Dolores) Hill of Kingsford; 14 grandchildren, Robert (Maria) Bonetti, Richard (Pam) Bonetti, David (Geri) Bonetti, Margaret Bonetti, Mary Ann Bonetti, Patrick Bonetti, Michael Bonetti, Brian (Margie) Simbob, Lori (Paul) Dzik, Amy (Christopher) Lewis, Lynn (Jeff) Iverson, Carrie (Mark) Rollenhagen, Sally (Tony) Santi and Kristen (Jeff) Pearson; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Agnes Virta of Riverview, lower Michigan; one niece; and one nephew.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Pauline Ann Bonetti, three brothers, Rudolph, Andrew, and Arne Virta; and three sisters, Martha Paski, Pauline Irwin and Mildred Durica.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Vernon Martin
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Vernon B. Martin, 86, of Schaumburg, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Lexington Health Care in Schaumburg.
He was born April 27, 1918, in Iron Mountain, son of the late William and Edith Martin. He served in the Navy from 1941 through October 1945 on the USS Colorado in the Pacific Ocean as an electrician's mate first class.
He was employed at the Veteran's Hospital in Iron Mountain until 1952. He transferred to Des Plaines with General Controls until they closed, and then with Rocheleau Foods until he retired.
He was an enthusiastic old car buff, loved working in the garage and being with his children and grandchildren.
He was the beloved husband for 52 years of Rosemary Nault, whom he married
Sept. 12, 1952.
He was the loving father of Deborah M. (John) Thompson of Wasco, Ill., Jeffery Martin of West Chicago, Ill., Gregory (Peggy) Martin of Elgin, Ill. and Mary Jo (Duane) Chenier of Geneva, Ill; cherished grandfather of Sarah, Brian, and Ben Thompson, Jeffery Martin Jr., Taylor and Kristyn Martin, Brock and Kyla Jo Chenier and Jennifer Malpartida; proud great-grandfather of Brandon, Nico, Alex, and Gabrielle; dear brother of Wilbert Martin of Parma, Ohio, Tom (June) Martin of New Berlin, Wis., and Mavis (Robert) Paquette of Kingsford; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence and William; and sisters, Dorothy Stoos and Evelyn Eckloff.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be at cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
