Ronald Gundlach
IRON MOUNTAIN - Ronald L. Gundlach, 68, of 1200 Grand Boulevard Circle, Iron Mountain, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 16, 1935, in Menomonie, Wis., son of the late Earl and Leona (Hegeman) Gundlach.
Mr. Gundlach moved to Iron Mountain from Menomonie in 1963. He was Linotype operator for the Dunn County News and the Iron Mountain Daily News. He was a janitor and maintenance man for his own cleaning service and at the Medical Park Office Building for many years.
Ron was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the past president of the Printers Union.
He married
Frances Formolo on Oct. 31, 1959, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Ron is survived by his wife, Frances; four sons, Jeoffrey (Rosemarie) of New Baltimore, lower Michigan, David of California, Gregory (Kim) of Mohawk, lower Michigan and Robert of Clinton Township, lower Michigan; one sister, Darlene (John) Marzak of Glenwood City, Wis.; three brothers, Norman of Menomonie, Louis (Barb) of Billings, Mont. and Douglas (Carole) of Menomonie; an uncle, LaVern Hegeman of Menomonie; five grandchildren, Joseph Vannoy and Julian, Elizabeth, William, and Joshua Gundlach; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death be one brother, Robert and an infant sister.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home and at 9 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Pallbearers will be Julian and Joshua Gundlach, John Marzak, Jim Wilcheck, Marvin Mogk, and Joseph Vannoy.

Norman Flemington
KINGSFORD - Norman Flemington, 81, of Kingsford, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born on Sept. 9, 1923, in Birmingham, Mich., son of the late Herbert and Alice (Clausen) Flemington.
Norman graduated from Baldwin High in Birmingham. He served with the United States Air Force in England from 1943 to 1946. He married
Nora M. Kolstad in 1946. She preceded him in death in 1986.
Norman graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor of science degree in 1950.
In 1952, he was recalled by the U.S. Air Force and then discharged in 1954 as a 1st Lieutenant.
Norman started Hunt Roofing Co. in Iron Mountain in 1960. He was a former member of the Rotary Club, Chippewa Club, Camp Neverlost, and a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church.
Norman owned Nora K Antiques. He was the executive vice president of Miller Products and Supply from 1973 to 1988.
He married
Connie Balzola on Oct. 8, 2003.
Norm felt very blessed by the many good things given to him in life. He loved to hike and marvel at God's creations. Gardening was one of his passions and sharing his produce with others greatly pleased him.
He praised God in song in his church choir and in the community chorus and musical productions.
His hobby as an auctioneer, associations at work, social activities and coffee time with the guys filled his life with many enduring friendships.
He felt most blessed by his family, and his love for his children and grandchildren were a constant joy for him.
Norman is survived by his wife, Connie Balzola of Kingsford, his children; Laurie Flemington (El Mostafa Gharra) of West Bloomfield, Kevin (Cheryl) Flemington of Long Beach, Ind., Patty (Mic) Holmes of Whitefish, Mont., and Erik (Cathy) Flemington of New Orleans, La.; children on Connie's side, Peter Balzola of Iron Mountain, Paul (Kelley) Balzola of Marinette, Wis., and Patty (Walter) Moore of Phoenix, Ariz. ; sisters Barbara Palmquist of Troy, Phyllis Hicks of Rochester, and Janice (Knut) Erichsen of Birmingham; grandchildren on Norman's side, Norman and Sally Wroblewski, Jamie and Kristen Flemington, Kelsey and Shannon Holmes, Samuel and Allison Flemington; grandchildren on Connie's side, Jim, Tony, and Justin Balzola, Nick, Michael, Sami, and John Paul Balzola.
He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Norman will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora, and brothers Clinton and Herbert Flemington.
Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov. 14 from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the church. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
Memorials can be made to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit or First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford.

Antoinette Brault
NIAGARA, Wis. - Antoinette Marie Brault, 70, of 1092 Forest St., Niagara died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at her home.
She was born on Feb. 14, 1934, the daughter of the late Ronald and Pauline (Alleva) Ackerman.
Toni worked at the A & P Store, the Niagara High School Cafeteria, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center canteen. She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church.
She married
Roger Brault on June 3, 1961, at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Roger preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 2002.
Toni is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Scott) Hansen of Norway and Dawn (Bradd) Erickson of Kingsford; four brothers, Donald (Virginia) Ackerman of Wyoming, Ronald (Laverne) Ackerman of Minnesota, Albert (Rita) Ackerman of Texas and Steve Ackerman of Kingsford; two sisters, Betty Massa of Kingsford and Pauline Bolan of Las Vegas; four grandchildren, Jenna and Anthony Hansen and Abbey and John Erickson of Kingsford; special niece, Melanie Groeneveld and many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Yvonne Sauld and one brother, Nick Ackerman.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be recited at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara. Father Joseph Gouin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Niagara cemetery.

Mary Louise Smith
KINGSFORD - Mary Louise Smith, 92, of Kingsford, died Wednesday, Nov.10, 2004, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
She was born on Feb.15, 1912, in Norway, daughter of the late Emil and Emma (Hannebach) DeNeve.
Mary married
Urban C. Smith on Oct. 20, 1934. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1986.
Mary lived in Mountain Iron, Minn. from 1959 until 1994. While she was there, she did a lot of volunteering with the senior citizen clubs.
She moved back to the area in 1994. Mary was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and playing cards.
She is survived by a son, Jack (Karen) Smith of Kingsford; two daughters, Darlene (Donald) Chartier of Sturgeon Bay, Wis. and Cynthia (Steve) Carey of Gilbert, Minn.; two brothers, Kenny DeNeve of Kingsford and Edward (Lorraine) DeNeve of Denver; seven grandchildren, Donnie (Terri) Chartier, Denny (Deb) Chartier, Dee (Glen) Leanna, Joanne (Walt) Howard, Mike (Maria) Smith, Jennifer (Mark) Kieren, and Jeff (Becki) Carey; 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Louis, Able, Julius, and Phill DeNeve and two sisters, Elsie Scantland and Alice Heidtke.
Visitation will be on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be at Norway Township cemetery.

Evelyn LaFave
IRON MOUNTAIN - Evelyn G. LaFave, 87, of 801 W. Hughitt St., Iron Mountain, went to be with the Lord and His Blessed Mother Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara, Wis.
She was born June 24, 1917, in Niagara, Wis., daughter of the late Thomas and Jennie (Weber) Bryson and has been a lifelong resident of this area.
Evelyn married
Norman A. LaFave on June 30, 1937, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1985.
Evelyn and Norman enjoyed more than 20 years wintering in Florida. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
She is survived by her son, Francis LaFave (Arlene DePas) of Iron Mountain; three daughters, Rosemary Pesavento (Dennis Brand) of West Allis, Wis., Susan (George) Hardy of Kingsford and Pamela (Richard) Burbey of Goodman, Wis.; a sister, Eunice (Jack) Miller of Palm Harbor, Fla.; grandchildren, Tom (Kelly) LaFave, Cheryl LaFave, Scott LaFave, Michelle Scarcello, Norman (Denise) LaFave, Lisa (Bob) Immonen, Alan Pesavento, Todd (Paige) Gustafson, Jennifer and Jason Gustafson, Jeffrey (LeAnna) Lindquist and Francis (Anne) Lindquist; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Wayne Pesavento; a daughter-in-law, Jean LaFave and a special friend, Earl Satterlund.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Prayers will be recited Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of the Christian burial.
Burial will be at cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Evelyn's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the Carmelite Sisters or Maryhill Manor.

Bruce Fletcher
KINGSFORD - Bruce E. Fletcher, 52, of N1912 Skidmore Drive, Kingsford, died at his home in the arms of his family on Monday, Nov. 8, 2004.
Bruce was born on Jan. 22, 1952, in Sault Ste. Marie and was the son of the late Roland 'Mickey' and Marion 'Mernie' (Bohenna) Fletcher of Rapid River.
In 1971, he graduated from Rapid River High School and then worked for five years in construction for Laborer's Union Local 1329.
On March 23, 1974, he married
the former Michelle Pearson at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River. He spent three years working as an automotive technician in Green Bay, Wis. then moved to Iron Mountain where he was employed at Edwards Chevrolet.
From May 1987, until January of 2004, he owned and operated East Kingsford Automotive in Kingsford.
Bruce loved all forms of racing and for eight years, he drag raced his 1982 Buick Regal at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, Wis. He also enjoyed shooting pool and played in the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Men's, Spread Eagle Mixed and the Niagara Men's pool leagues.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Michelle; one son, Herb Fletcher of DePere, Wis.; two daughters, Tracy (David) Irwin of Iron Mountain and Sara Fletcher of Kingsford; one brother, Roland (Sharon) Fletcher of Green Bay; one sister, Susan (Bob) St. Ours of Escanaba; seven grandchildren, Sydney, Emily, Andrew, Joshua, Sierra, Clara, and Maryl; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Hervey James Fletcher preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home in Kingsford.
Funeral services will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael March officiating.
Burial will be in the Rapid River cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
