John Elliott
KINGSFORD - John R. Elliott, 50, of 652 Dickinson Blvd., Kingsford, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.
He was born on April 23, 1954, in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Clifford and Jean (Luke) Elliott. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1972, and was a lifelong resident of the area.
John married
Vicki Poquette on June 2, 1973, and was a devoted husband for 30 years. He was a loving role model of a father to Angela (Troy) Elliott-Johnson.
John was a sales representative for Weather Shield. He was an extremely talented carpenter, artist, wood crafter and photographer. He loved nature, canoeing, camp, and was a cross country skier. John was very fond of his two cats, Ally and Niles.
John is survived by his wife, Vicki; one daughter, Angela (Troy) Elliott Johnson of Kingsford; three brothers, Willard (Fran) Elliott of Milwaukee, Gerald (Joanne) Elliott of Kingsford, and Paul (Sharon) Elliott of Niagara, Wis.; three sisters, Delores (William) Behrens of Aurora, Dorothy (Don) Fornetti of Kingsford, and Gina Elliott of Iron Mountain; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Sharon Poquette of Kingsford; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Elliott of Iron Mountain and Julie Poquette of Kingsford; two brothers-in-law, Larry and Joe Poquette, both of Kingsford.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Clifford Elliott.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Dickinson County Cancer Unit.

Keith Wickman
QUINNESEC - Keith A. Wickman, 37, of Quinnesec, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at his home.
He was born April 29, 1967, in Iron Mountain. Keith has been a lifelong resident of this area and was a 1985 graduate of Kingsford High School.
He was employed as a welder and fabricator for LoDal Inc. in Kingsford. Keith was a member of Quinnesec United Methodist Church.
He loved being with his children. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a talented mechanic, fabricator and welder. Keith was always willing to give of his time and talent.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea; a son, Mark Wickman of Vulcan; a daughter, Arika Wickman of Kingsford; his mother, Judith Walsh of Sault Ste. Marie; his father, Rodney (Joan) Wickman of Vulcan; two sisters, Mary (Rob) Skog of Norway and Jennifer (John) Cescolini of Norway; his paternal grandmother, Helen Wickman of Kingsford; a special friend, Lisa Edberg; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, and cousins.
Keith was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Phil and Norma Gurkowski; his paternal grandfather, Rueben Wickman and a stepbrother, William Jones.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Pauline Rupe and Rev. Tom Blomberg will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a trust fund will be established for Mark and Arika Wickman.

Judy Thom
IRON MOUNTAIN - Judy J. Thom, 65, of Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Florence Villa Nursing Home following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1939, in Ironwood, the daughter of the late Wilson and Esther (Johnson) Coxey. She graduated from Ironwood High School.
Judy worked as a home health worker for the state of Michigan. She enjoyed reading, knitting, gardening, camping, and her cats. She loved her children and grandchildren very much.
She is survived by four sons, Peter Thom of Orlando, Fla., Gary (Lauri) Thom of Aurora, Wis., David Thom (Karen Nichols) of Aurora, Wis., and Wayne (Ellen) Thom of Aurora, Wis.; a daughter, Jodie Anderson of Niagara, Wis.; one brother, Griffen Coxey of Reedsburg, Wis.; two sisters, Patty Kauppi of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Amy Thom of Clearwater, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Kelsy Rae Thom, Aimee Thom, Adam Thom, Mathew Thom, Andy Thom, Jill Anderson, Erin Salamone, and Becky Anderson.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Homestead-Aurora cemetery. Pastor Brad Moore will officiate.
Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.

Leo E. Paoli
IRON MOUNTAIN - Leo E. Paoli, 81, of 1408 West A. St., Iron Mountain, died Monday, May 17, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Leo was born on Nov. 17, 1922, in Iron Mountain, son of the late John and Emma Richtig.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1941. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Leo married
Jean Flaminio on Aug. 21, 1943, in Iron Mountain and they celebrated their 60th anniversary last year.
He worked as a salesman at Selin's Furniture for many years and at Delta-Do-It Center for several more years until retiring. He was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church and the United Commercial Travelers.
Leo was an avid baseball and basketball fan. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and going to camp.
Leo is survived by his wife, Jean; two sons, Michael (Jodie) Paoli of Westminster, Calif. and David (Susan) Paoli of Kingsford; a daughter, Lisa McGuire of Kingsford; a sister, Armeda Kentgen; eight grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Paoli, Melissa Copley, Amy Paoli, Brian and Danny Paoli and Brad, Macy and Marcus McGuire; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick; a brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be Leo's grandchildren, Brian, Danny, Brad, Mark, Melissa, Amy, Macy, Marcus and Danielle.

Dean E. Gislason
PRENTICE, Wis. - Dean E. Gislason, 53, of Prentice, formerly of Iron Mountain, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk, Wis.
He was born on Nov. 2, 1950, in Oak Park, Ill., the son of Jean (Holroyd) Gislason and the late Neal Gislason. Dean resided in Iron Mountain from 1985 until 1991.
He had owned and operated Service Master here and in Dillon, Colo. from 1978 until 1999. He had also been employed at Slumberland Furniture in Wausau, Wis. At the time of his death, he was employed at the Chalet in Tomahawk.
Dean recently completed his nurse's aide certificate. He was known to be a friendly and personable guy and was a strong Christian man.
He is survived by four children; Erica Gislason of Burlington, Vt., Heide Gislason of Denver, Kyle Gislason of Prentice and Ben Gislason of Iron Mountain; his mother, Jean Gislason of Marion, Iowa; one grandson, Lief Gislason; two brothers, Gary (Jane) Gislason of Bemidji, Minn. and David Gislason of Ithaca, N.Y.; two sisters, Amy (Craig) Welt of Iowa City, Iowa and Jill Rogers of Ft. Collins, Colo.; six nieces; one nephew; two aunts and uncles; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Neal Gislason on March 16, 2003.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Mark Cummins will officiate.

Marvin Larson
NIAGARA, Wis. - Marvin C. Larson, 88, formerly of 2208 Sherman St., Niagara, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at ManorCare Health Care Facility in Kingsford.
He was born on July 28, 1915, in Stambaugh, the son of the late Victor and Mamie (Soderquist) Larson.
Marvin married
Eleanor M. Fedde on Sept. 8, 1951.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Marvin landed at Normandy a few days after the initial invasion and made his way through to Germany.
Marvin worked for the Kimberly-Clark Corporation for many years. He was a member of the First Covenant Church and enjoyed partridge hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; two brothers, Robert (June) Larson of Iron Mountain and Paul (Ruth) Larson of Iron Mountain; three sisters-in-law, Dolores Larson of Kentwood, lower Michigan, Florence Verhoven of Neenah, Wis., and Rose (Marshall) Johnson of Iron Mountain. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Larson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the First Covenant Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the church. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Niagara cemetery.

Teresa Black
KINGSFORD - Teresa A. Black, 49, of Kingsford, formerly of Ontonagon, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
A memorial service was held Monday, May 17 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon.

Genevieve Hord
FELCH - Genevieve Hord, 77, of Felch, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at her son's home in Felch.
She was born March 7, 1927, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late James and Philomene (Potier) McEwing. She has been a resident of this area her entire life.
Genevieve married
Willard Hord on Oct. 19, 1946, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2003.
She worked at Hayward's Gifts in Iron Mountain for several years and also at the Commercial National Bank, where she began as an elevator attendant and retired as the head of the bookkeeping department. Genevieve was a member of Mission Covenant Church in Foster City and attended a bible study group there. She loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Genevieve is survived by her son, Ronald (Marsha) Hord of Felch; a brother, Harold 'Buck' (Mary) McEwing of Iron Mountain; her sisters, Eunice Hollingsworth of Beecher, Wis., Joyce (Adolph) Gustafson of Iron Mountain, Phyllis Maher of Redford Township, lower Michigan and Mary Hord of Iron Mountain; four grandchildren, Brian (Cynthia) Hord of Iron Mountain, Christopher Hord of Appleton, Wis., Chad (Amy) Hord of Felch and Sara Hord of Green Bay, Wis.; and three great-grandchildren, Amber Genevieve, Morgan and Ashton.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lester McEwing; a sister, Clara Mattson; and twin granddaughters, Erica and Jessica.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will he held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. John Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian, Chad, Chris, Dan, Jim and Joe Hord.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory to the Samaritan Purse, the Felch Mountain Bible Chapel and Mission Covenant Church.
