Eva Marie Bodelin
IRON MOUNTAIN - Eva Marie Bodelin, 98, formerly of 619 Wells St., Iron Mountain, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at the Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain.
She was born on Oct. 13, 1905, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Beauchamp) Broullire.
She married
John E. Bodelin on Oct. 21, 1924, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. She had been a lifelong resident of the area.
Eva was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church and an honorary life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling and crocheting. Eva volunteered at the Breen Center in Kingsford until she was 90 years-old.
She is survived by a son, Donald (Mary) Bodelin of Norway Lake; a daughter, Irene Marcelini of Vulcan; grandchildren, Robert Marcelini, Melissa Marcelini, Vicki (Mike) Dunlap, Janise (Barry) Webb, Dr. Terry (Fred) Bucan, Dennis Bodelin, and James Bodelin; and great-grandchildren, Kelly Webb, Tristan Dunalp, Amber Dunlap, Nickolas Bodelin, Mitchel Bucan and Casey Bucan.
She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and one sister and a son-in-law, Wallace Marcelini.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. at the American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

John Gussert
KINGSFORD - John A. 'Chuck' Gussert, 75, of Kingsford, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
John was born on Feb. 21, 1929, in Kingsford, the son of the late Raymond and Eva (Jossart) Gussert. He grew up in Kingsford and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1947.
John married
Noreen Flaminio on July 11, 1959, at American Martyr's Church.
He had been employed at the Niagara Mill for 39 years, retiring in 1987. Chuck enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Camp Grizzly. He also enjoyed attending Flivver athletic events and the Green Bay Packer games.
He was an avid reader and a history buff.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 44 years, Noreen; a daughter, Allison (Steve) Graham and their children, Kevin and Kelly, all of Kingsford; a son, John of Aurora, Wis. and a daughter, Kristine (Nathan) Czerwan, and their children, Jacob and Lauren, all of Iron Mountain; four sisters, Olive (Hal) Schlag of Crivitz, Wis., Rose Jensen of Port Washington, Wis., Betty (Matt) Childs of Florida and JoAnn (John) Schriener of Iron Mountain; two brothers, Jim Gussert of Aurora, Wis. and Dick (Ginger) Gussert of Clintonville, Wis.; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob and Raymond Gussert.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the American Martyr's Church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery. Chuck's nephews will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Martyr's Church or the Dickinson County Cancer Unit.

Arthur Fortier Jr.
QUINNESEC - Arthur R. Fortier Jr., 72, of 553 Quinnesec St., Quinnesec, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born June 4, 1931, in Escanaba, the son of the late Arthur Sr. and Marian (Vickery) Fortier. He had been a resident of this area for most of his life.
Arthur was a 1950 graduate of Iron Mountain High School. He served during the Korean War with the United States Navy. He worked for Bacco Construction for more than 40 years, retiring in 1993.
He married
the former Bonnie Reese on May 24, 1973, in Iron Mountain.
Arthur was a member of the Iron Mountain Elks Lodge and the Teamsters Union. He had more than 2, 000 hours of volunteer work at the Pima Air Museum in Tucson, Ariz. He enjoyed building model airplanes and had recently returned to this area after spending ten years in Tucson.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Bonnie; a son, Arthur III (Leslie) Fortier of Iron Mountain; a stepson, Rick (Doreen) Trevino of Tucson; two daughters, Kimberly (Glenn) Strehlow of Menomonee Falls, Wis. and Kelly Fortier of Hernando, Fla.; a brother, Jack (Sally) Fortier of Spread Eagle, Wis.; a sister, Marylee (Frank) Oatley of Marquette; seven grandchildren, Arthur IV and Caitlyn Fortier, Carrie and Ryan Strehlow, Destiny Wilkinson, Scott Trevino, and Tawnie (Eric) Knight; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Celina Knight; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 4 from 11 a.m. until noon at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain.
Memorial services will be at noon at the church. Rev. Dr. Meredith Rupe will officiate.

Yola Giannunzio
IRON MOUNTAIN - Yola M. Giannunzio, our beloved mother, born Nov. 22, 1915, left us on Tuesday, April 20, 2004, to be with the Lord and her one true love, Louis, who she shared life with for 69 years.
She was a blessing to all of us, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She will be missed. Her sweet smile warmed our hearts and all of those who knew her.
Yola was a wonderful cook. She had a love for good books, hiking outdoors and sharing time with family. She worked for five years at Perfix and a few years in dietary at Pine Manor.
She leaves her daughters, Beverly (Ben) Garcia of Shawano, Wis., Yola Chapman of Akron, Ohio and Arlene (Roger) Mielke of Iron Mountain; her son Louis (Diane) of Marshall, lower Michigan; her 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
The greatest gift she left are beautiful memories, generous in her love and acceptance of us all. We rejoice to know she is in now in Heaven, happy and healthy and enjoying a joyous reunion with all her loved ones.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
The family would like to thank the staff at Freeman's Convalescent Home for their wonderful and compassionate care they provided to Yola during her short stay.

Jeffrey Klenke
NIAGARA, Wis. - Jeffrey J. Klenke, 68, of Niagara, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at his home.
He was born Nov. 13, 1935, in Neenah, Wis., the son of the late George and Marion (Miller) Klenke.
Jeff graduated from Menasha High School in 1953. He then graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis. In 1960, he went on to receive his master's degree from Vandercook Institute of Music in Chicago in 1968.
Jeff married
Karen Koehler on Aug. 17, 1964, in Brandon, Wis. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years.
Jeff was the band director for many years at Niagara High School, a full time substance abuse counselor and he and his wife owned and operated the Niagara Journal for 17 years. Jeff was a member of the Niagara Board of Education, a church board member for many years at Riverside United Methodist Church and served on a variety of many other local community organizations. He had a love for music and planting trees.
Jeff brought whoever he touched to be their best. His determination and encouragement helped everyone to challenge themselves and to be all they could be.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Jill (Rick) Smith of Appleton, Wis. and Jennifer (Bryan) Rietveld of Kingsford; a brother, Karl (Patsy) Klenke of New London, Wis.; four grandchildren, Crystal and Ryan Smith, Monica and Joseph Rietveld; and nieces, Kris (Rob) Bresnahan, Karl (Gina) Klenke, and Kari Klenke.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.
Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Fr. John Hephner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Pastor Pat Nolet from Riverside United Methodist Church will share in the eulogy.
Burial will be in the Niagara cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Community Substance Abuse Program, WNMU Public Radio, or the Wisconsin Regional Public Library for the Blind.

Dorothy Smith
KINGSFORD - Dorothy Smith, 82, of 1865 Riverview Drive, Kingsford, died, Thursday, April 15, 2004, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1921, in Spruce, Wis., the daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Marik) Hyland. Dorothy graduated from Kingsford High School in 1939. She received her nursing degree in 1968.
She married
Philip Smith on June 19, 1946, in Spruce, Wis.
They resided in Milwaukee for 43 years where Dorothy had worked at the Woods Veterans Administration Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1989. They moved back to Kingsford in 1989. Dorothy was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church and a member of the guild. Her family was the center of her life and she enjoyed flowers.
She is survived by her husband, Philip; three children, Lyn Preiss of Landisville, Pa., Philip 'Duke' Smith and Joseph 'Joe' Smith, both of Milwaukee; three brothers, Robert (Grace) Hyland and Joseph 'Rueben' (Arlene) Hyland, all of Oconto Falls, Wis., William 'Bill' Hyland (Mary Amundsen) of Kingsford; two sisters, Joan (Clark) Linn of Kingsford, Patricia (Robert) Lindholm of Iron Mountain; two sister-in-laws, Jeanie Hyland of Oconto Falls, and Patricia Hyland of Kingsford; two grandchildren, Ray (Laura) Preiss of Lancaster, Pa. and Rebecca (Christopher) Miller of Lititz, Pa.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and James Hyland and her son-in-law, Raymond Preiss.
Visitation will be held from10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home and at noon at the American Martyrs Church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Kadlec cemetery in Spruce.

Lawrence Van Marter
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP - Lawrence R. Van Marter, 77, of 621 Eskil Ave., Breitung Township, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at his home.
He was born on April 21, 1926, in Green Bay, Wis., son of the late Claude and Helmie (Roselund) Van Marter.
Lawrence has been a resident of the area his entire life.
He served for the U.S. Army during World War II from July 12, 1944, until Aug. 21, 1946.
He married
Ruth Revoir on April 26, 1947.
Lawrence was a mechanic and machine operator at Grede Foundries. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
Lawrence was the chief of the East Kingsford Fire Department and was a volunteer at the VA Medical Center.
He was a good neighbor and a friend to all. He loved hunting, fishing, and wood working of birds.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Ruth; three sons, Steven (Pat) Van Marter of Oregon, Dennis (Susie) Van Marter of Iron Mountain, and David (Sandy) Van Marter of Kingsford; a daughter, Linda (Russ) Henderson of Kansas; six grandchildren, Laurie, Suzanne, Melissa, Jennifer, Chad, and Travis; seven great-grandchildren, Lee, Crystal, Ashleigh, Eathen, Cole, Kealey, and Keagan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helmie Sarasin; his father, Claude Van Marter; and a grandson, Raymond Galbraith.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Lee Liverance will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Van Marter, David Van Marter, Chad Van Marter, Travis Van Marter, Michael Sweig, and Russ Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Van Marter, Barry Lehto, Michael Lee, and Lee Smith.
Burial will be at the Quinnesec cemetery.
