Barbara Hautamaki
KINGSFORD - Barbara L. Hautamaki, 61, of 808 Ford St., Kingsford, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Marquette General Hospital.
Barbara was born March 28, 1942, in Marquette, daughter of the late Julius and Esther (Johnson) Peterson. She graduated from Eben High School in 1960.
She married Dennis Hautamaki on July 13, 1963, in Eben, Alger County.
Barbara was a lifelong resident of the Upper Peninsula and had lived in the Iron Mountain-Kingsford area for the past 27 years.
She was a member of First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain and a former youth group leader at the church. She was very active in the formation of the hockey program in Dickinson County.
Barb enjoyed playing fastpitch softball, volleyball and in the adult soccer league.
She also loved gardening, flowers and refinishing antique furniture.
Barb was always involved in her family's lives and loved them very much.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; four sons, Jeffrey (Becky) Hautamaki of Iron Mountain, Derrick (Tania) Hautamaki and Daniel Hautamaki, both of Kingsford, and Jeremy (Jessica) Hautamaki of Waupun, Wis.; her mother-in-law, Berneice Hautamaki of the Mather Nursing Home in Ishpeming; two brothers, Ralph (Donna) Peterson of Marquette and Robert (Nancy) Peterson of Eben; two sisters, Betty Violetta of Gwinn and Karen (Wayne) Bostwick of Oconto, Wis., and six grandchildren, Heather, Caitlyn, Elyssa, Lynea, Caleb and Eryn Hautamaki.
Barb was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Clayton Peterson.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the church. Pastor J. Peter Erickson and Associate Pastor Dan Wheeler will co-officiate.
Burial will be in the Chatham cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her four sons, Jeffrey, Derrick, Daniel and Jeremy Hautamaki, and her brother-in-laws, Alan Hautamaki and Patrick Donahue.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Terry LaCount
IRON MOUNTAIN - Terry LaCount, 68, of Gladstone, formerly of Iron Mountain, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at his home.
He was born June 30, 1935, in Iron Mountain, son of Dora (Nasberg) LaCount and the late Earl LaCount.
Terry grew up in the Alpha area and graduated from Alpha High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from October of 1954 until October of 1956.
Terry married Kay Huotari on Dec. 28, 1974, in Iron Mountain. The couple has resided in Gladstone since 1987.
Terry had worked for AT&T; and Michigan Bell for 42 years, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed metal detecting, golf, the family cottage, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; his mother, Dora LaCount of Chicago, seven children; Guy (Kathy) LaCount, Kimberly LaCount and Rachelle Charles, all of Gobles, Julie (Paul) Cowling of Iron Mountain, Calvin (Cheryl) Formolo of San Diego, Calif., Jodi (Tim) Pineau of Sobieski, Wis., and Cory LaCount of Minneapolis, Minn.; two brothers; Peter (Mansoon) LaCount of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Bruce (Cheryl) LaCount of Kenosha, Wis.; one sister, Suzanne (John) Chiappetta of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Brian and Kyle Lewis, Chelsea Charles, Courtney, Katie and Ryan Cowling, Jordan and Jason Fish, Jacob Formolo and Ted and Jon Pineau.
He was preceded in death by two infant grandchildren, Gregory Charles and Jessica Cowling.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Pastor Brad Moore will officiate.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

William Forster
KINGSFORD - William 'Bill' Forster, 55, of Kingsford, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at the V.A. Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born Feb. 2, 1948 in Milwaukee, Wis., son of the late Wilbert and Eunice (Trudell) Forster.
Bill was a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. He has resided in the area for the past seven years, coming from Minneapolis, Minn. Bill enjoyed fishing, canoeing, building furniture and landscaping.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Forster; two daughters, Denise Stebnitz of Spread Eagle, Wis., and Cassi Forster of Scott Air Force Base in Illinois; a sister, Joanne Golla of Iron Mountain and a granddaughter, Jasmine Stebnitz of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
There will be a gathering on Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Marjorie Duford
KINGSFORD - Marjorie M. Duford, 89, of 116 Quincy St., Kingsford, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
Marjorie was born July 7, 1914, in Norway, daughter of the late Louis and Agnes (Barney) Geline. She had been a resident of this area her entire life.
Marjorie married her husband, Woodrow on Feb. 22, 1941, in Norway.
Marjorie was always a very hard worker and kept a clean and beautiful home.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Woody; her daughter, Nancy (Thomas) Rocheleau of Bryans Road, Md.; a sister, Vera Bartolameolli of Iron Mountain; two grandchildren, Kevin (Amanda) Rocheleau of Newport News, Va. and Gregory (Laura) Rocheleau of Bryans Road, Md.; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mary, and Emma Rocheleau.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be recited at 7:15 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. at the American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Kingsford with funeral arrangements.

Luther Roberts
IRON MOUNTAIN - Luther R. Roberts, 86, of 813 W. Fleshiem St., Iron Mountain, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born April 9, 1917, in Iron Mountain, son of the late James Sr. and Lillian (St. Louis) Roberts.
He was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1935.
He married Viola Skoog on June 10, 1944, at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.
Luther and Viola owned and operated Robert's Market on Kent Street in the 25 Location for 20 years. At the time of his retirement, he was a watchman at Kingsford Broach and Tool.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, where he was a former council member.
Luther was an excellent cook and an avid Packer fan.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.
Luther is survived by his wife of more than 59 years, Viola; three children, Dick (Sandie) Roberts of Kingsford, Gail (Jack) Christoff of Schaumberg, Ill., and John (Candy) Roberts of Iron Mountain; a sister, Joyce (Orville) Best of Iron Mountain; 10 grandchildren, Anna Roberts, Richard (Donna) Roberts, Doug (Tracy) Roberts, Jennifer Christoff, Jeffrey Christoff, Brad and Bryan Christoff, Michael Roberts, Rebecca Roberts and Jacob Roberts, and seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Eric, Tyler, Trevor, Renee, Eve and Levi.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. Rev. Peter Jonas will officiate.
Burial will be held in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers and the great-grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.
The family has asked that flowers be omitted.

Charles E. Peterson
KINGSFORD - Charles E. Peterson, 80, of 201 Wilson Ave., Apt. 2b, Kingsford, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara, Wis.
He was born March 17, 1923, in Chicago, son of the late Carl and Ruth (Strandin) Peterson.
Charles married his first wife, Carol Lundwall in 1944 and she preceded him in death in 1967. He married Shirlee Thornberg in 1979.
He attended Crystal Falls schools and graduated in 1941. He was a member of three Class C U.P. basketball championship teams. He played semi-pro baseball in NWM League with Crystal Falls, Iron River and South Range teams from 1941-1951.
Charles served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1944 and received a medical discharge in 1944. He went on to college at Michigan Technological University from 1945-1948 and graduated with bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
He then worked for Hanna Mining from 1948-1966 as an engineer/foreman. He also worked at Hiawatha Mine as an engineer, a mining superintendent at Groveland Mine and worked at Champion Inc. from 1966-1990 as an engineer and field superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Jo (H.T.) Clark of Houston, Texas, Sandra Wright of Iron River and Jane Scroggins of Madison, Wis.; two sons, Stephen Peterson of Iron River and Charles Peterson Jr. of Aurora, Wis.; a stepdaughter, Kris (Jon) Flewelling of Detroit; a stepson, Harry (Linda) Wercinski of Caspian; one brother, Richard of Green Bay, Wis.; a sister, June (Jack) Hill of Vicksburg, lower Michigan; three grandsons, Kayle Scroggins of Texas and Bruce and Cris Wright of Madison; one granddaughter, Lisa Clark; three step-granddaughters, Tina (Glen) Waring of Chesapeake, Va., Kelly Wercinski of Juneau, Wis., and Sara Jo (friend, Blake) Arcand of Traverse City, lower Michigan; two step-grandsons, Justin (Kenna) Arcand of Kansas City, Mo. and Eric (friend Erin) Wercinski of Norway; three great-grandsons, Zachary, Dylan and Seth; and five great-granddaughters, Mickayla, Zoe, Sherrie, Thania and Jayda Lee.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Matthew.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
After Glow: I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Billy Lehto
KINGSFORD - Billy Jo Lehto, 23, of 332 Hooper St., Kingsford, died, Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at the home of his mother due to natural causes.
Billy was born Oct. 8, 1980, in Norway. He was the son of Cathy and Walter Yax of Kingsford and Duane Lehto of Pembine, Wis. He was a lifelong resident of the area.
He graduated from Kingsford High School. Billy enjoyed playing hockey, four-wheeling, and ran his own car audio business, which he enjoyed very much.
He is survived by his mother, Cathy (Walter) Yax of Kingsford; his father, Duane Lehto of Pembine, Wis.; his grandparents, Ralph and Maxine Stauffer, and Ariel Lehto; his fiance', Jessica Spooner of Iron Mountain; a daughter, Kayla Lehto of Iron Mountain; a brother, Wade Lehto, stationed in Iraq; two sisters, Kelly Lehto of Kingsford and Wendy (Robin) Gregg of Aurora, Wis.; a niece, Heather Carlson; and a nephew, Logan Senger.
There will be a gathering on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate.
Graveside services will be held in the spring.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
