Ina A. Lindberg
ESCANABA - Ina Agnes Lindberg passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at Bishop Noa Home. She was 88.
Mrs. Lindberg was born Ina Agnes Ballard on June 25, 1918, daughter of Floyd S. and Grace Isobel (Gladden) Ballard. Originally from Fremont Township in lower Michigan, she spent the greater part of her life in the Twin Falls area of Breitung Township.
She married
Hugo W. Lindberg at Trinity Methodist Church on Nov. 26, 1937. He preceded her in death May 7, 1981.
A homemaker and devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Lindberg realized a personal goal when she received her GED in 1965, having attended public schools in Birmingham, lower Michigan., through grade 10. Following completion of her GED, she taught English as a second language for two years through a local literacy program.
Mrs. Lindberg was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, serving at various times as financial secretary, a Sunday school teacher and church school superintendent. She was also a past worthy matron and grand officer with the Order of Eastern Star, was a founding member and active participant in a card club for more than 50 years and volunteered for many years with the Caring House spouse abuse shelter in Iron Mountain and a short time with the Humane Society in Iron Mountain.
She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, sewing and playing cards, and loved to travel, read and work crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Ronald C. (Nancy) Lindberg of Escanaba; two daughters, Rev. Donna J. Lindberg of Manistique and Denise G. Bruder of Cheboygan, lower Michigan; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard, as well as four brothers.
A visitation for friends and family will be held Saturday from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Central time) at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services and a luncheon will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Johanna H. Peterson
KINGSFORD - Johanna Helen Peterson, 74, of 413 Case St., passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
Johanna was born on April 18, 1932, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Lenpha and Clara (Gaehleur) Munday.
Johanna was a graduate of Kingsford High School and has been a resident of Kingsford her entire life. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and enjoyed 4-H, horses, bingo and babysitting.
Johanna is survived by her children, Donald Peterson Jr. of Kingsford, Robert (Nancy) Campbell of Cadillac, lower Michigan, Kim Hubert of Kalamazoo, lower Michigan, Sherry Peterson of Kingsford, Becky (Roger Jr.) Losiniecki of Kingsford and Emmy (Dan) Perkins of Kingsford; a brother, Herman (Arlice) Munday of Kingsford; two sisters, Sylvetta Wilkins of Belleville, lower Michigan and Nada Larson of Norway; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Munday and her half-sister, Edith Rowell.
A memorial gathering will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
Memorial services will follow at noon at the funeral home. Curt and Cheryle Spicer will officiate.

William J. Person
KINGSFORD - William J. Person, 82, of 208 Lane Ave. Kingsford, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
William was born Jan. 20, 1925 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Oscar and Leona (Manley) Person. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1943 and was a lifelong resident of the area.
William was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII serving with the 791st squadron of the 467th bomber group and obtaining the rank of sergeant.
He was wounded over Lille, France, on Aug. 3, 1944, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Caterpillar Club because of an emergency parachute jump he made over England from the crippled B-24. William married
Dorothy Eckelaert on June 7, 1947, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iron Mountain. William worked at the Niagara Paper Mill for 39 years, retiring in 1987.
William and Dorothy lived on Lake Elwood in Florence, Wis., for many years until moving to Kingsford three years ago. They enjoyed traveling and spent 15 winters at Feather Rock mobile home park in Valrico, Fla.
William was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, a 50-year member of the Florence Masonic Lodge, and a life member of the Florence VFW and the Disabled American Veterans in Iron Mountain. He enjoyed spending time with his family and summers at Lake Elwood.
William is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy; three daughters, Catherine (Thomas) Bornfleth of Green Bay, Wis., Rhonda (Wesley) Peters of Knoxville, Tenn., and Jaye (Dr. Jeffrey) Carroll of Berlin, Wis.; two sons, Kurt (Ramona) Person of Spread Eagle and Ross (Katie) Person of Hobe Sound, Fla.; brother-in-law, Jack (Sandy) Eckelaert of Sun City, Fla.; sister-in-law, Dru (Norman) Meidl of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, Chad (Brenda) Bornfleth, Jon (Ellisha) Bornfleth, Amanda (Steve) Sheedy, Joshua (Rebecca) Thomas, Kelly and Nathan Thomas, Dana (Victor) Laws, Katie and Ryan Carroll, Brad, Kyle and Zachary Person, and Cody Person; three great grandsons, Micah and Caleb Bornfleth and Austin Laws; four step-grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Leona Person; a brother, Halvar; a sister-in-law, Grace Person and a son-in-law, Frank 'Bo' Thomas.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home. The Florence Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Fr. Charles Piper will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara cemetery.
The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military graveside honors. Pallbearers will be William's grandsons.
A memorial has been established at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

John C. Sackerson
NORWAY - John C. Sackerson, 52, of Norway, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. He was born on Nov. 17, 1954, in Lake Forest, ILthe son of Gilbert and Gladys (Underhill) Sackerson.
John spent his childhood in Lake Forest, IL. He graduated from Lake Forest High School and the Chicago Fire Academy. He was a fireman for the Lake Bluff, IL fire department for over twenty years.
After moving to Norway, John worked as a security guard at the Niagara Paper Mill.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting fire department memorabilia.
John was a very kindhearted man. He was a good friend to many and was respected by all who knew him.
He married
Karrie Kotwica on March 7, 1981 in Lake Forest, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Karrie, his father Gilbert 'Gibb', his foster son Eugene, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Gladys.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 1p.m. to -2 p.m. at Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 21, . at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Mary J. Ciochetto
IRON MOUNTAIN - Mary J. Ciochetto, 86, of Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Bert and Theresa (Aimone) Ciochetto, and was a lifelong resident of the area. Mary worked as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for 22 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed traveling, fishing, walking, knitting, crafts, puzzles and caring for her patients at the hospital.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews in the Ciochetto, Hebein, Massie and Verley families.
Mary was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Frank, Charles and John Ciochetto and three sisters, Theresa Massie, Jennie Hebein and Rose Verley.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet.

Arlene K. McMahon
KINGSFORD - Arlene K. McMahon, 84, of Kingsford, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Chad Ott will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Margaret J. Allen
KINGSFORD - Margaret J. Allen, 88, of Kingsford, released her last breath and walked into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1918, in St. Cloud, Minn., the daughter of the late Francis King and Otto Steindorf.
She married
Boyce 'Bunny' Allen in St. Maries, Benowa County, Idaho, where Bunny worked in the logging industry.
Margaret worked at General Controls, was the head chef at the Four Seasons Club, and retired as the head seamstress from the Veteran's Administration Medical Center.
Margaret was also a volunteer at the V.A. Medical Center and the area nursing homes, where she did line dancing for many years. She also taught a sewing class through community schools.
Margaret was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, golfing, and bowling. Margaret loved going to her son, Doug's camp for cook-outs with the family. She also loved to play any type of card game and enjoyed playing with her friends at the senior center. Margaret was very proud of getting a perfect score of 29 in cribbage while playing with a friend.
Margaret is survived by two sons, Robert (Karen) Allen of Appleton, Wis. and Douglas (Joyce) Allen of Kingsford; two sisters, Irene (Francis) LeQuia of Kingsford and Doris Slayton of Port Richey, Fla.; her grandchildren, David (Charlene) Allen, Dianne (Jon) Kurtz, Tina (John) Elmer, Mark (fiance, Kristi) Allen, and Jon Allen, and her great-grandchildren, Lindsey Kurtz, Kristina Kurtz, Melissa Elmer, Emily Elmer, and Dalton Allen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bunny; her brother Clarence, and her stepfather, Oliver King.
She will be greatly missed by her family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Fr. Paul Nomellini will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Pembine cemetery.

Ralph L. Tramontin
IRON MOUNTAIN - Ralph L. Tramontin, 77, of 539 Detroit Ave. in Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born on May 10, 1929, in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Fred Ralph and Barbara (Hruska) Tramontin.
Ralph served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 8, 1951 to Jan. 12, 1953. After being discharged from the service, he went to work in Vail and Aspen, Colo., giving skiing lessons and working for the Ski Patrol. He also worked at the Pine Mountain Ski Hill. He worked as a conductor for the Milwaukee Road (Soo Line) Railroad, retiring in 1987.
Ralph was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, the Pine Grove Country Club, and We Will Help. He enjoyed skiing, dancing, and fishing at his favorite spot at River's Bend. He was an avid golfer and at one time had a zero handicap. He was a member of the American Legion Uren-Cooper-Johnson Post 50. Ralph was very fond of his German shepherd, "Jake."
He married
Deanie Cannard of Kingsford in 1964. She preceded him in death in 1985.
He is survived by a brother, Donald (Deanie) Tramontin of Kalamazoo, lower Michigan; a sister Betty (Ken) Palmer of Rockford, Ill.; his best friend, Agnes Lindstrom of Kingsford; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Paul Nomellini will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Adam Reischer
KINGSFORD - Adam Reischer, 95, of 1301 Woodward Ave. in Kingsford, and more recently of Victorian Pines in Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at the V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain. He was a member of the Anshe Knesseth Congregation.
Dr. Reischer was a V.A. urologist and surgeon from 1946 to 1965 in Dwight, Ill., and from 1965 to 1979 in Iron Mountain
He was born on Aug. 24, 1911, the son of Regina Stauber Reischer and Bernard Reischer, near what was then Lemberg, Poland. In 1914, the Reischer family moved to Vienna, Austria and lived on the Hahngasse.
Adam was an excellent student, and graduated from the University of Vienna and its medical school with diplomas in medicine and dentistry. He was then in practice with an uncle in Vienna. When he took a class in Italian language and culture, a mutual friend introduced him to another student, Rosi Schwarzmantel.
When the Nazis invaded Austria in 1938 and the open persecution of Jews began, Adam's friends convinced him to obtain an immigration quota number from the American embassy. Later that year, Rosi helped him flee to England, and they were married
in London on Feb. 28, 1939.
Adam arrived alone in the U.S. in 1940. When the U.S. went to war in 1941, he could not be drafted because he was a physician, and could not attend officer training because he was not a citizen, so he enlisted in the Army as a private. He was discharged with pneumonia, obtained U.S. citizenship, and re-enlisted and was promoted to captain, serving the V.A. hospital in Dwight, Ill. In 1944, Rosi joined him in the U.S.
After the war, Adam continued his career with the V.A. Dr. Reischer was a member of the American Urological Association and the American Medical Association. In the course of his work at the VAMC, he mentored a young physician's assistant, A.J. Kent. Eventually, A.J. and his family became close friends with the Reischers.
Adam's favorite hobby was fishing, which he enjoyed on evenings and weekends in the U.P. as well as on family trips to fishing holes across the U.S. He was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth, the Kingsford Lions Club, and the Great Books Group of Iron Mountain/Kingsford.
He is survived and mourned by his daughter and son-in-law, Jenny R. and Robert J. Redfern of Morgan Hill, Calif.; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeremy D. Redfern and Karen J. Coates, granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Joanna L. Redfern-Rinck and Thomas J. Rinck of Albuquerque, N.M. and the extended Redfern family.
Adam Reischer was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Schwarzmantel Reischer and his sister, Micheline Reischer Polay.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Dr. Michael Zevitz will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the U.P. Library for the Blind in Marquette or the Dickinson County Cancer Care Unit.
