SUSAN ELEANOR BILAKOS
Dexter
Susan Eleanor Bilakos, 65, of Dexter died Oct. 1, 2006 from cardiac amyloidosis. She was born July 19, 1941, the daughter of Walter and Josephine Zaiko.
She is survived by her husband, Peter; son, Christopher; daughter-in-law, Kari; granddaughter, Alexandra; sisters, Wanda (Bernard) Metzger and Mary (Frank) Harris; brothers, Walter (Barbara) and Eugene (Kay); nephews; nieces; and devoted in-laws.
Mrs. Bilakos grew up near Romeo, and graduated from the University of Michigan. Friendships made during her college years lasted.
Before moving from Ann Arbor, Mrs. Bilakos was active in the AAUW and the Herb Society at Matthai Botanical Gardens. She paid careful attention to the important things in her life, including family, friends, relatives, sunsets, clouds, books and gardens.
Risible, honest, loyal, alert and steadfast, she seldom praised and never condemned. She led lightly and many followed. For those touched by her, one of life's sweetest songs ends, her family said.
"In our hearts, the music plays on, " they said.
Visitation was held Wednesday at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 South Fourth Ave., in Ann Arbor.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 3109 Scio Church Rd., in Ann Arbor.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice, where nurses' kind attention and care to Mrs. Bilakos was appreciated, her family said.
BARBARA LEE PERRY
Anaheim, Calif.
Formerly of Chelsea
Barbara Lee Perry, 71, formerly of Chelsea, died Aug. 19 in Anaheim, Calif., with her daughter, Robin Winters, by her side. She is the daughter of the late Harry and Cynthia Lorenzen.
Ms. Perry worked at Jiffy Mixes before moving to California, where she worked as an office manager in Orange County for more than 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter Robin (Ryan) Winters of Anaheim, Calif.; brothers, Ronald (Jeannene) Lorenzen of Grass Lake and Tony (Judy) Lorenzen of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and a sister, Joanne (Joe) Santoro of Old Hickory, Tenn.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Aiden and Hailey Winter, Joey Ann Perry, and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Perry was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cynthia Perry; a son, Joseph Perry; and her former husband, Bill Perry of Munith.
A funeral was held Aug. 24 at Shannon Brian Mortuary in Orange County, Calif.
Ms. Perry will be missed by all who knew her.
KENNETH G. BORITZKI
Whitmore Lake
Kenneth G. Boritzki, 48, of Whitmore Lake died unexpectedly Oct. 2, 2006, at his home. He was born March 23, 1958, in Trenton the son of Gerald and Mary (Dunlap) Boritzki. He had lived in the Whitmore Lake area for the past 11 years, moving from Pinckney.
Mr. Boritzki graduated from Chelsea High School in 1976. He was a member of the Unadilla Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and motorcycles. He also was an avid University of Michigan Wolverine fan.
Mr. Boritzki is survived by his two children, Kalynn and Kenneth "Luke" Boritzki of Pinckney; his mother, Mary "Darlene" Boritzki of Gregory; two sisters, Kaye (Bob) Frensley of Nashville, Tenn., and Diane (Cooper) Wood of Franklin, Tenn.; a brother, Jim (Debbie) Boritzki of Chelsea; two nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Boritzki was preceded in death by his father in 1999.
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea. The Rev. John Qiu will officiate. Burial will follow at the Unadilla cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Unadilla Presbyterian Church or the Kalynn and Kenneth "Luke" Scholarship Fund.
SANDRA KAY CRAWFORD
Orlando, Fla.
Formerly of Dexter
Sandra Kay "Sandi" Crawford, 57, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Dexter died March 31, 2003, in Florida. She was born June 10, 1945, in Ann Arbor the daughter of Kenneth and Doreen (Vinsant) Reade.
Mrs. Crawford was a 1963 graduate of Ann Arbor High School. She worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell, the University of Michigan, the Disney Store in Ann Arbor and Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
Mrs. Crawford was a former member of the Dexter United Methodist Church. She enjoyed dancing, golfing and watching football. She loved Disney but, most of all, being with her friends and family.
Surviving are two sons, Michael and John Crawford; one daughter, Beth Crawford; her parents, Kenneth and Doreen Reade; two sisters, Karen (James) Lamb and Norma Reade; six grandchildren; seven nieces; two nephews; two great-nieces; three great-nephews; and her former spouse, Douglas Crawford.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Reade, and a sister, Bonnie Reade.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held noon Friday at Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Dexter, where the family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

KATHLEEN M. DUNNE
Chelsea
Formerly of Dearborn
Kathleen M. Dunne, 84, of Chelsea, formerly of Dearborn, died April 1, 2003.
She was the beloved wife of the late Paul J. Dunne; dear mother of Maureen (Raul) Perdoma of Chelsea and Mary Anne McKinney of Southgate; loving grandma of Meghan, Sara, Raul, Edward and Teresa; and dear sister of the late Virginia Krause.
Services were held Friday at Divine Child Church with interment at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Chelsea Retirement Community.
Arrangements were made by Hackett-Metcalf Funeral Home in Dearborn.
NICHOLAS JOSEPH FILECCIA
Dexter
Nicholas Joseph Fileccia, 81, of Dexter died peacefully March 21, 2003, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Flint the son of Frank and Vita (Caruso) Fileccia. He married
Antoinette Millefoglie Jan. 25, 1947, and she survives.
Mr. Fileccia was a longtime Ann Arbor resident and founding partner with his brother, Angelo, in Fileccia Brothers Shoes in Ann Arbor. They sold the business and retired in 1983. Both moved to Lake Isabella, Calif., shortly thereafter. Mr. Fileccia later moved to Charlotte N.C., but moved back to Michigan in 2000, settling in Dexter.
Mr. Fileccia was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 5th Army in the European Theatre and North Africa.
He had a great sense of humor and was a stubborn fighter right up to the very end. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a true friend who enriched the lives of everyone who knew him.
"Nick, we know you are with the loved ones who passed before you (we hope there is a nice horse race track in Heaven), but you are missed by those left behind on Earth, " his family said.
In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Antoinette, and his brother, Angelo (Josephine) Fileccia of Whitmore Lake, Mr. Fileccia is survived by his daughters, Vita (Harley) Rider of Dexter and Nora Fileccia of North Carolina; his sons, Frank Fileccia of Dexter and Larry (Kim) Fileccia of Las Vegas; his granddaughters, Jodie Koons of Charlotte, N.C., Kim Flory of Charlotte, N.C., and Nichole (Shon) Williams of Edwards, Calif.; his grandson, Ted Rider of Dexter; his step-granddaughter, Tara Reid of Las Vegas; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
Mr. Fileccia was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Sam Misuraca, Jimmy Fileccia and Joseph Fileccia; and his sisters, Angeline Jackson, Virginia Boner, and Rosalie DeLorenzo.
The family received visitors Sunday and Monday at Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Dexter. Mass of the Christian Burial was held Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Brendan Walsh officiated. Entombment followed at Washtenong Memorial Park.
CLARE B. SHERMAN
Munith
Clare B. Sherman, 84, of Munith died March 6, 2003, at Chelsea Community Hospital. He was born June 7, 1918, in Flint the son of Moses and Lois (Beagle) Sherman.
Mr. Sherman worked for the General Motors Corp. for 31 years. He also worked as a midnight dispatcher with the Chelsea Police Department for several years, and as a park attendant for the Huron Metroparks.
Mr. Sherman enjoyed all kinds of music and played the violin.
On June 17, 1938, he married
Irene Force in Millington.
Survivors include one daughter, Alisa (and fiancé Doug) Truette; two brothers, Frederick (Marie) Sherman of Owosso and Dale (Theresa) Sherman of Pahrump, Nev.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, and one brother, Erwin Sherman.
A funeral was held Monday at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea. The Rev. Mearl Bradley officiated. Burial followed at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor.

IRENE KOPINSKI
Dexter
Irene Bray Kopinski, 85, of Dexter died Feb. 12, 2003, after a long illness. She was born Nov. 20, 1917, in Moundville, Mo. She married
Ferdinand Kopinski Aug. 31, 1940, and he survives.
Survivors include son Daniel (Janice) and his children, Brett and Keith; son Gary (Jean) and his children, Tina, Sindy, and Barbara.
Also surviving are her siblings, Vernie (Russell) West, Loreen (Duane) Westphal, Murel (AmyLou) Bray, Vernon Bray, Arthur (Katherine) Bray and Nina (Bob) Simpson.
She was also preceded in death by six siblings.
A scripture service was held Sunday at Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Dexter. Mass of the Christian Burial was held Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter. The Rev. Fr. Brendan Walsh officiated. Burial followed at St. Joseph cemetery in Dexter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Building Fund in her name.
HASKELL SALYER
Stockbridge
Haskell Salyer, 71, of Stockbridge died Feb. 1, 2003, at Chelsea, Community Hospital. He was born May 29, 1931, in Maogiffin County, Ky., the son of William and Elizabeth Salyer.
Mr. Salyer had lived in the area since 1951 and was a charter member of Stockbridge Church of Christ, helping to build the church. He worked for Chelsea Milling Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1990.
He was an honorary Kentucky colonel, an avid college basketball fan and played against the Harlem Globe Trotters.
A member of the Chelsea Rod and Gun Club, he enjoyed hunting. He also loved to listen to music, keep his lawn and garden spotless, and attend family barbecues. But, most of all, he enjoyed his grandchildren.
On April 11, 1953, he married
Nora B. in Angola, Ind., and she survives. Also surviving are three sons, Mark (Dorothy) Salyer, Todd Salyer (loving companion Kathy Scherdt) and John (Tammy) Salyer, all of Stockbridge; one sister, Betty LeMaster of Washington Court House, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Haskall, Hope A. Haskall, Johnny Haskell, Shelly (Mark) Hursh, Lori (Jason) Burgess, Rachel Lewis and Jamie (Durbin) Wright.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Justice, Forrester and Clifford Salyer, and three sisters, Ernestine LeMaster, Christine Joseph and Grace Henry.
A funeral was held Wednesday at the Stockbridge Church of Christ. The Rev. Larrel Whitaker officiated. Burial followed at Oak Lawn cemetery in Stockbridge.
Arrangements were handled by Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home in Stockbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stockbridge Church of Christ.
RACHEL MAY (WEST) WELCH
Chelsea
Rachel May (West) Welch, 88, of Chelsea died Jan. 17, 2003, at the Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born Jan. 13, 1915, on the property at the corner of Old US-12 and Forner Road in Sylvan Center.
Mrs. Welch has lived all her life on the property. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and her family.
Mrs. Welch was one of eight children of Lyman and May (Salisbury) West. She married
Lavern E. Welch Jan. 3, 1933, in Ann Arbor and he preceded her in death May 16, 1990.
Surviving are her three daughters, Audrey Lautermilch of Camden, Janice Welch and Linda Alder, both of Grass Lake; three granddaughters; three grandsons; one great-granddaughter; five great-grandsons; one sister, Helen Armstrong of Grand Rapids; and one brother, Howard West of Munith.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lyle; her son-in-law, Ivan Alder; and five brothers, Alfred, Harry, Harvey, Richard and Wilbur West.
A funeral was held Tuesday at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, 901 N. Main St., in Chelsea. The Revs. Daniel W. Harris and Carolyn G. Harris of Salem Grove United Methodist Church co-officiated. Burial was at Maple Grove cemetery in Sylvan Center.
