HARVEY C. LIXEY
Chelsea
Harvey C. Lixey, 90, of Chelsea died Aug. 20, 2005, at his home. He was born Dec. 19, 1914, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, the son of David and Anna (Klawun) Lixey. He had lived in Chelsea since 1925.
Mr. Lixey retired from Federal Screw Works and was past president of UAW Local 437. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Lixey was an avid sports fan and followed his grandchildren in their respective sports at Chelsea High School. He also enjoyed University of Michigan sportsl.
He had served on the Chelsea Village Council for three terms in the late 1950s and early '60s, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
Most of all, Mr. Lixey will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his story telling and his ability to always make people he met feel special.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine E. (Conlan), of 65 years, whom he married
June 15, 1940, at St. Mary Church in Chelsea.
Also surviving are his four children David Lixey of Grosse Ile, Barbara Lixey of Tecumseh, John (Kathleen) Lixey of Chelsea and Tom (Alicia) Lixey of Chelsea; and four grandchildren Ryan, Eric, Devon and Katherine Lixey.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Fahrner and Dorothy Lixey.
A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. William Turner officiated. A Rosary was held Monday at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea, where friends called on the family.
Burial was at Mount Olivet cemetery in Chelsea.

ELLEN A. BALLIET
Jackson
Formerly of Saline and Ann Arbor
Ellen A. Balliet, 80, of Jackson, formerly of Saline and Ann Arbor, died Oct. 21, 2005, at her daughter's home in Jackson. She was born Jan. 8, 1925, in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Harry and Ellen (Laidlaw) Hubbard.
Mrs. Balliet spent most of her life in the Ann Arbor area. She worked at Ford Motor Co. in Ypsilanti for many years, and later retired from the University of Michigan in housekeeping.
She was a member of Salem Grove United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star's Hale chapter. She also was an avid doll collector.
On Dec. 11, 1947, she married
Kenneth R. Balliet in Ypsilanti, and he preceded her in death May 6, 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen K. (Arnold) Mitchske of Giddings, Texas, and Emily A. Niethammer of Jackson; three brothers, Walter (Ida) Hubbard, Mack Hubbard and Kenneth (Barbara) Hubbard, all of Ypsilanti; six sisters, Vernajean (Gerald) Millage, Barbara (Roger) Young, Claudia Belcher, Faunchon Hanson and Rosemarie Adiska, all of Ypsilanti, and Sharon (Ed) Vanderpool of Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Mark Parker, Kenneth Parker, Elizabeth (James) Lowry, Dawn and Shawn Parker, Richard Niethammer, Victoria (Rob) McDowell, Sarah Goll and Russell Goll; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vicky Balliet; three brothers, Bob Hubbard, Howard Hubbard and Edorse Hubbard; and one sister, Thelma Smith.
A funeral was held Monday at Salem Grove United Methodist Church. The Rev. Carolyn Harris officiated. Burial was at Salem Grove cemetery.
The family received friends at Cole Funeral Chapel.

EUGENE A. KAUPP
Manchester
Eugene A. Kaupp, 89, of Manchester died Oct. 18, 2005. He was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Manchester the son of Lewis and Lillian (VanHouten) Kaupp. He married
Rose Yekisa Aug. 31, 1945, in Angola, Ind., and she survives.
Mr. Kaupp is survived by his wife; daughters, Joyce (John, Jr.) Steele of Manchester and Janice (Donald) Weiss-Stoll of Chelsea; five grandchildren, Terry (Lynda) Steele, Tammy (Kevin) Wright, Julie (Jeremy) Zilkie, Tara (Kelly) Jedele and Jodi (Kurt) Hendricks; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kaupp of Chelsea; several nieces and nephews; three step-granddaughters; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kaupp was preceded in death by his brother, Ira Kaupp; son-in-law, Ronald Weiss; and step-sisters, Dorothy Exelby and Donna Daniels.
Mr. Kaupp worked for Ford Motor Co. and retired from Manchester Stamping.
A celebration of his life was held Saturday at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home's Jenter Chapel in Manchester. The Rev. Gary Kwiatek officiated.

THEODORE E. FAIST JR.
Chelsea
Theodore "Ted" E. Faist Jr., 79, of Chelsea died Oct. 23, 2005, at the Chelsea Retirement Community. He was born May 1, 1926, in Jackson to the late Theodore E. Faist Sr. and Agnes (Miller) Faist.
The family moved from Jackson to Grass Lake when Mr. Faist was 11 years old. He graduated from Grass Lake High School in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force, serving in World War II.
Working on cars was always his favorite pastime and later became his life's work. Upon moving to Chelsea, he worked for Spaulding Chevrolet/Harper Pontiac, and Daniels Buick and Olds. Warren "Sporty" Daniels was his mentor.
Mr. Faist and Graham Sprague built the current Chevrolet Buick dealership in 1968. Upon Mr. Sprague's death, Bill Morrow became his partner in 1982.
Mr. Faist's son-in-law, David Diesing, became his partner in 2000 and is the current owner of the Faist-Diesing Chevrolet Buick Dealership.
Mr. Faist served as president of St. Paul's United Church of Christ during the building of the church at its current site and was also a member of Elks Lodge 325 of Ann Arbor.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Dunlap) Faist of 60 years; two daughters, Jane (David) Diesing of Chelsea and Lynn E. Faist of Chelsea; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Diesing of Chelsea, James (Mitzi Janukaitis) Diesing of Chelsea and Jennifer Diesing of Chelsea; and one brother-in-law, Duane Sawdy of Grass Lake.
In addition, he was expecting two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Genevieve Sawdy.
A funeral was held yesterday at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea. The Rev. Karen Schulte officiated.

TONY PAZZI
Owosso
Tony Pazzi, 95, of Owosso died peacefully at home Nov. 30, 2005, surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was born May 11, 1910.
At the turn of the century, Mr. Pazzi's parents came from Italy and settled in Dawson, N.M., to work for Phelps Dodge. In 1913, at age 3, he lost his father and oldest brother in the largest coal-mining explosion in U.S. history. Several years later, Mr. Pazzi, with the help of his brother Frank, moved to Detroit to work for Midland Steel Corp.
During World War II, Mr. Pazzi was a part of the work force at home that built tanks for the military. He worked 18- to 20-hour shifts each day for the war effort.
Mr. Pazzi and his family lived in Centerline from 1936 to 1958. He was an active member of St. Clement Catholic Church.
In 1958, he was transferred to Midland-Ross Corp. in Owosso. Mr. Pazzi was well regarded for his honesty, integrity and his extensive knowledge in all aspects of his field of manufacturing. After 47 years of employment, he retired as general foreman in 1975.
Upon retirement, and for the following 30 years, Mr. Pazzi dedicated his life in helping his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with "Labors of Love. This gave him his greatest joy.
Mr. Pazzi is survived by his wife, Berlinda, of 67 years; two daughters, Paula Pazzi of Owosso and Judy (Joseph) Merkel of Chelsea; one son, Dennis Anthony (Dorothy) Pazzi of Birmingham; and six grandchildren, Joseph (Kelly) Merkel of Chelsea, Michael (Michelle) Merkel of Canton, Angela (Eric) Spencer of Bloomfield Hills, Luisa (Michael) Branstrom of Birmingham, Antonio Pazzi (special friend Jennifer Giesler) of Chicago and Christina (Jason) Scripter of Grass Lake.
He is also survived by great-grandchildren Madeleine and Francesca Branstrom, Lauren and Elise Merkel, Blair and Clay Spencer, Branden Merkel, and Nicholas Scripter. In addition, he was expecting another great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicola and Timberina Pascetti; two sisters, Mary and Anne; and six brothers, Silver, Frank, Albert, Thomas, Nicholas and Leonard.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Dec. 3 at St. Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert Kolenski officiated. Burial was at St. Paul cemetery in Owosso.

CHARLES S. RITTER JR.
Chelsea
Charles S. Ritter Jr., 85, of Chelsea died peacefully Jan. 1, 2006, in his home. He was born March 3, 1920, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the son of Charles S. and May (Squires) Ritter Sr.
Mr. Ritter retired from the U.S. Army, where he served during World War II.
He worked for Cogsdil-Twist Drill in Detroit, owned Louie's Restaurant in Chelsea and worked many years in sales.
Mr. Ritter was an inventor and investor. He was active in the Chelsea Village Council, and served as village president. He also served on numerous village committees, and was a founding member of the Chelsea VFW.
Mr. Ritter was very supportive of his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Catherine Birch, who he married
Nov. 17, 1945. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, an infant son and a brother, James Ritter.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret "Megs" (Tom) Beller of Novi and Cecilia "CeCe" (Kevin) Corazza of Livonia; two sisters-in-law, Bernidene Visel and Harriet Birch; six grandchildren, Julie, Jennifer, Thomas, Mary, Maggie and Charlie; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea. The Rev. William Turner will officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet cemetery in Chelsea.
The family received friends Tuesday and Wednesday at Cole Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea or the American Heart Association.
JUDITH A. BOYER
Chelsea
Judith A. Boyer, 67, of Chelsea died Jan. 1, 2006, at her home. She was born June 1, 1938, in Royal Oak the daughter of Arthur and Marjorie (Jordan) Karvel.
Mrs. Boyer worked for 18 years at the Chelsea High School cafeteria and retired in 1996. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 48 years. Knitting, flowers, watching birds and her grandchildren meant the world to her.
On March 30, 1957, she married
Winston E. Boyer in Chelsea and he survives.
Also surviving are five children, James (Kathy) Boyer of Chelsea, Bonnie Burchett of Chelsea, Jeffery (Lisa) Boyer of Stockbridge, Joel (Betsy) Boyer of Sparta and Heidi (Daniel) Ray of Chelsea; one brother, Arthur "Bud" (Janet) Karvel Jr. of Dexter; two sisters, Marilyn Benson of Jonesville and Jean (Robert) Fenton of Mancelona; 16 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Boyer; and one brother-in-law, George Benson.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Joy Barrett will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove East cemetery in Chelsea.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Summer Youth Camp Scholarship Fund, the American Cancer Society or St. Joseph Mercy Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea.
ALBERT L. WEBER
Grass Lake
Albert L. Weber, 82, of Grass Lake died Jan. 1, 2006, at Cedar Knoll Care Center. He was born April 11, 1923, in Chelsea the son of George and Adelma May (Fisk) Weber.
Mr. Weber had lived in the Chelsea-Grass Lake area most of his life.He married
Helen L. Grattan Sept. 16, 1944, in Maybrook, N.Y., and she preceded him in death May 13, 1994.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy (James) Heydlauff, Linda Sue Weber and Cathy May Weber, all of Grass Lake; one son, Michael L. (Judi) Weber of Manchester; three grandsons, Jim, Ron Heydlauff and Tyler Weber; two brothers, Duane, and Ernest; and three great-granddaughters, Brianna, Megan and Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Davis, and three brothers, Norbert, Don and William.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea. The Rev. Carolyn Harris will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery in Chelsea.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
