JENSEN -- Darwin L. Jensen, aged 70, of Yankee Springs Twp., went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 12, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sharon; his children, Gary Lee Jensen of NE., Randy (Lisa) Jensen of Greenville, Raymond (Brenda) Blair of Greenville, Sherry (Carl) Johnson of Grand Rapids, Pamela (John) Pepper of Howard City, Richard (Theresa) Beltz of Green Lake & Ellen (Richard) Anderson of Grand Rapids; brother, Marvin (Allene) Jensen Jr. of McBride; sister-in-law, Peggy L. Jensen of S. Boardman; also numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Raymond & Thelma & son, Charles & also his brother, Marlindean. Donations may be given to Hospice of Grand Rapids or The American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. Cremation has taken place & a Celebration of Dar's life was held at the Gun Lake Community Church with Rev. Wayne Kiel officiating. Arrangements were by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.
BAUGHMAN -- Charles C. Baughman aged 91, of Yankee Springs Twp., passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2002. Charles was born March 16, 1911 in Leighton Twp., Mi, the son of Charles W. and Ethel (Campbell) Baughman. He married
Celesta Kotrba on February 12, 1938. Charles was a custom farmer, and excavation contractor, and owner/operator of Baughman Marina at Gun Lake. His primary interests were his family, hunting, fishing and boating. He is survived by his children, Charles A. (Ann) Baughman, William R. Baughman, Barbara Kay (Jeffrey) Vortman, Richard ( Linda) Baughman, Judy (William) Bachi, Ted (Julianne) Baughman; sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Celesta in 1986; son Robert in 1951. Funeral services were held on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. William Doubblestein officiating. Interment Robbins cemetery. Memorials may be made to Thornapple Manor or Pennock Hospital. Arrangements made by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.
CADMAN, Gwendolyn of Hopkins, MI, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mrs. Cadman was born July 7, 1934 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Orton and Ruth (Freas) Heintzelman. Mrs. Cadman was a graduate of the Godwin Heights High School, Class of 1952. She was a member of the Hopkins Community Reformed Church, where she sang in the choir for 25 years and served as a Sunday School teacher for 30 years. She had been employed at the Hopkins Public Schools for 20 years as a kindergarten teacher's aide. On June 7, 1952 in Grand Rapids, she was united in marriage to Donald E. Sr., who survives. Also surviving are 5 children and their spouses, Donald and Patty Cadman of Sparta, Debra and Robert Moore of Allegan, Doreen Reurink of Hopkins, David and Margaret Cadman of Hamilton and Denise and Larry Button of Gobles; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and their husbands, Ruth Ann and Nelson Bredeweg of Jamestown and Joyce and Sam VenHuizen of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory, and son-in-law, Hank Reurink. Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com. Pastors Stan Vugteveen and Jack Klunder officiated. Interment Maplewood cemetery, Hopkins Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins Community Reformed Church Building Fund.
WIERSMA: Robert S. Wiersma, Jr., aged 39, of Tennessee and formerly of Wayland, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2002 following accidental injuries. He is survived by his mother, Lois Johnson; father, Robert ( Karen) Wiersma Sr.; brothers, Ryan and Doug; sisters, Rhonda, Rusty and Valerie; also six nephews and one niece. Funeral services were held on Thursday at the Wayland Chapel with Pastor George Grevenstuk of the Open Dorr Reformed Church officiating. Interment Elmwood cemetery. BROWER -- Harold Brower, aged 81, of Wayland, passed away at home Thursday October 31, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Verna M.; children, Karen (Larry) Secord of Middleville, Calvin (Rose) Brower of Plymouth, MI, Cheryl (Bill) Green of Tubac, AZ, Mary Brower of Tucson, AZ;grandchildren, Jason Secord, Julie Secord, Carmen Green, Will Green; great grandchildren, Brianna Secord, Brien Secord; brothers, Gordon (Dorothy) Brower, Cal Brower, Donald (Marilyn) Brower, Roger (Elaine) Brower; sister, Alma Jean (Jim) Keppel; brother-in-law, Chester Overbeek; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Dozeman and Lorraine (Julius) Nykamp; also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Brower was a pilot in the Army Air Corp during WW II and was a local businessman before his retirement. BURNS -- Thomas C. Burns, aged 73, of Wayland Twp., passed away at home surrounded by his family on November 3, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Chapin) whom he married
on October 10, 1969. Also surviving are his children, Elaine (Ed) Martin, Noreen (Greg) Herman, Lisa (Rich) Yelland, Debrah (Jim) Shoemaker, Kevin Burns & Jeffrey (Karen) Burns; grandchildren, Steve, Mike, Jessica, Sydney, Elizabeth & Samantha; also 5 great grandchildren; niece, Sue Amberg; nephews, Don (Jackie) Shields & Tom Shields & also several great nephews. Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his mother & father, brother, James & sister, Virginia. He loved hunting, fishing & time with his grandchildren. SCHMIDT -- Cleo Fisher Schmidt, aged 77, of Dorr, now resting peacefully, Thursday, October 31, 2002, after her struggle with lung cancer. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten by her husband of 54 years, Stan; loving daughters, Elaine and Laurie; two special grandchildren, Todd and Tracey; and her lovable great grandchildren Kelsey and Cody all of Dorr; brother, Laurel (Louise) Fisher; sister-in-law, Irene Fisher; also several nieces, nephews, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law. Cleo was preceded in death by her son, Gary David, whom she tragically lost in 1968; parents, Glen and Olive Fisher: siblings, Goldie Shafer, Lena Moeller, Vera Wallace, Ivan Fisher, Tyler Fisher, Lyle Fisher. If Cleo couldn't make it, mend it, medicate it or move it, the job just couldn't be done. A real "Handy Mam and Mom"!! Parish Rosary was held Sunday at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at the funeral home with Fr. Richard Altine as Celebrant. Interment Elmwood cemetery. BELLGRAPH -- Nicole Lee Bellgraph of Salem Twp., MI, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 in Grand Rapids. Nicole was born July 6, 1978 in Zeeland, the daughter of Christopher and Kathy (Fleser) Bellgraph. She was employed as a waitress at Tony Roma's Restaurant in Grand Rapids. Surviving are her father, Christopher, of Hopkins; mother and stepfather, Kathy and Tom Brenner of Hopkins; 3 brothers, Christopher Bellgraph, Lee Dryer and Nathan Dryer, all of Hopkins; 2 sisters, Melissa Bellgraph and April Brenner, both of Hopkins; Grandparents, June Bellgraph of Allegan and Art and Mary Lou Fleser of Dorr; Great Grandmother, Irene Selby, of Burnips; 2 nephews, Ben and Markus; several aunts and uncles. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 28, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. Pastor Kenneth Reeves officiated. Interment Salem Twp. cemetery, Burnips, MI. HILDENBRAND -- Luther J. Hildenbrand, aged 75 of Burnips passed away at Metron-Allegan on Thursday, October 24, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Alward) whom he married
on August 15, 1949 in Grand Rapids, MI. Also surviving are a son Kevin (Sue) and a daughter-in-law, Roberta both of Dorr, three grandchildren, Chad, Travis and Rory: four great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Winona Weber, Perle and Yvonne Goodman, Jim and Linda Weber, Marie Alward and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kerry Hidenbrand. Luther was a volunteer fireman for Salem Twp. Fire Dept. for 40 years and for many years as chief. He was an avid hunter and outdoors man. He worked 29 years for Con Power Gas Division and was self-employed for Lukie's Back Hoe Service. Funeral services were held on Monday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Dorr with Pastor Stephen Otto officiating. Interment at Salem Twp. cemetery. MADISON -- Forest D. Madison, age 64 of Casper, Wyoming formerly of Bradley. passed away on October 29, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerri and father, Morris. He is survived by one son, Steven Madison of Casper, Wyoming and two daughters, Christlieb (Dave) and Brenda Henninger (Brandy), both of Fort Wayne, Indiana, 7 grandchildren, his mother, Goldie Madison and his brother, Warren Madison, both of Casper, Wyoming. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. There were no visitation or services.
MCBRIDE-Norma McBride, aged 67, of Hopkins Twp., passed away, Thursday, February 13, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Marvin; daughter, Joan (Wayne) Halloran; grandchildren, Tony (Nickie) Halloran, Nicki (friend Bill Brefke) Halloran, Mandi (Alex) Ludema; great grandchildren, Ezrian & Cassidy; brother, Dick (Sandy) Kugelard; niece, Gina; nephews, Troy and Greg (Cara). Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Nancy Zerban officiating. Memorials may be made to Barry County Hospice or Wayland Area Ambulance. BAUMAN, Sam T. Bauman, aged 83, of Washington, formally of Wayland, passed away, January 24, 2003. Survivors include, his wife, Adeline (Kaminski) Bauman; their children, Sam L. Bauman of Oregon, Sunny Cerveny of Washington, Mike Delvin of Oregon, Gary Delvin of Nevada, Jim Delvin of Washington, Linda Long of Oregon; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. TUINSTRA -- David Henry Tuinstra, aged 45, of Moline, went to be with his Lord Monday, February 3, 2003. He was welcomed home by his mom and dad, Ann and Henry Tuinstra; his grandparents, George Tuinstra, Ed and Anna Sipkema; and his in-laws, August and Angie Brinks. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Lori(nee Brinks); his children, Barb and Steve; his sisters, Bonnie (Mike) DeFreese, Cindy (Larry) Rottman, Lori (Kerwin-David's "best bud") Post; his grandma, Jennie Tuinstra; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many other relatives and friends. The Funeral Service was held Friday, February 7, at Dorr Christian Reformed Church, Pastor Duane Nieuwsma officiated. Interment at Hooker cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the development of the Bysterveld County Park of Allegan County.
BELL, Robert G. Bell, aged 83, of Lakeland, Florida and formerly of Wayland, left this world on January 23, 2003, after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris, his parents, a brother and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Carole; his children, Gloria (Harris) Button, Barb (Ron) Henry, Sandy (Roger) Tiller, Deb (Don) Clack, Bob Bell and Jim (Marlene Joyce) Bell; surviving are twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Opal Lee (Lowell) Baer and Ruth Albert; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Housel. Mr. Bell proudly served in the United States Army as a 2nd. Lt. in Germany during World War II. He and his wife Doris, opened a Dog & Suds Restaurant in Wayland and later bought out the franchise, changing the name to Bell's Family Restaurant. Funeral Services were held at the Wayland United Methodist Church in Wayland with Pastor Julie Dix officiating. Interment at Elmwood cemetery. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.
BREWER, Reo R., Hopkins, died Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids. Mr. Brewer was born February 5, 1915 in Hopkins the son of Fredrick Ray & Mariam Duryea Brewer. Mr. Brewer was employed at the Hopkins Creamery for many years and retired as a field inspector in 1976. After retirement Reo & Violet enjoyed many winters in Florida and summers on Nugent Lake near Baldwin, where he loved to fish & hunt. He will be dearly missed by his friends & family. BERGSMA -- Alice Bergsma, aged 90, of Wayland, received her birthday present to join her Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2003. She is survived by her sisters, Susie Dewey & Hilda Reurink; brothers, John Buist & Jim Buist; brother-in-law, Robert Vandenberg; sisters-in-law, Louise Buist & Martha Buist; also nieces & nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Klaas; brothers & sisters, Wilma Vandenberg, Lyda Veenstra, Gerrit Buist, Clarence Buist. Alice had performed missionary assistance with World Home Bible League.
