REYNOLDS, CLIFFORD M. age 81, of Hopkins Twp. , died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mr. Reynolds was born Oct. 19, 1920 in the Hopkins Twp. , the son of Fred and Ellen (Sterns) Reynolds. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Hopkins Community Reformed Church and the Hopkins V.F.W. #7571. He retired in the late 70's from the Hopkins Public Schools having worked both as a custodian and bus driver. He had also farmed in the Hopkins area for many years. Surviving are two children and their spouses, Linda and Donald Krause and Dennis and Pam Reynolds, all of Allegan; three grandchildren, Nikki (Jim) DeGroff, Stacy Krause and Kim Reynolds; one great grandchild, Kylee Krause; one brother and his wife, Lloyd and Doris Reynolds of Hopkins, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, in 1996, two brothers, Elwin and Orlo Reynolds and three sisters, Ruth Stephens, Hilda Waltz and Elda Reynolds. Friends may meet with family from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. Pastor Jack Klunder officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Otsego V.F.W. Post #3030 at Maplewood cemetery, Hopkins Twp. FIFELSKI -- Philip Fifelski, aged 49, of Wayland, passed away Friday, August 9, 2002. He is survived by his three sisters, Lucy (Craig)Sell, Julianna (Vito) Vitelli & Margaret Fifelski; seven brothers, Jerome Fifelski, Lawrence Fifelski, Stanley Fifelski, Matthew Fifelski, James (Alane) Fifelski, Chris (Joan) Fifelski & Peter (Victoria) Fifelski; also many nieces & nephews. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley & Anna Fifelski & sister Alice. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, August 12, 2002 at The St. Therese Church in Wayland with Fr. SMALLEGAN -- MRS. RUSSELL (FLORENCE) Smallegan, aged 79 of Hudsonville died Saturday, August 10, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell in 1987 and a granddaughter. She was a member of Forest Grove Reformed Church and treasurer of the Hudsonville Fair. She is survived by her son, Ken and Judy Smallegan of Hudsonville, five grandchildren, Kevin and Leigh Anne Smallegan of Nashville, TN, Karen Smallegan of Hudsonville, Fred Smallegan of Grandville, seven great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, John and Jerene Wustman of Byron Center, June and Gord VanOverloop of Hudsonville, Vivian and Roger Berends of Holland, Ted and Arlene Wustman of Cutlerville; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Alvin (Angie) Naber of Holland, Mrs. Russel (Pauline) Strick of Hudsonville, Mrs. William (Winifred) Smallegan of Cutlerville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at Forest Grove Reformed Church with the Rev. James Ikered and George Grevenstuk officiating Burial at Forest Grove cemetery. BAUMAN -- Myrtle Susanne Bauman aged 80, of Dorr, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Frank and son, Frederick. Myrtle is survived by her children, John (Connie) Bauman, Tim (Jane) Bauman, Dan (Kathy) Bauman, Betty (Joe) Kelly, Mary (Greg) Damveld, Susie Walters, Annie Damveld, Penny (Bret) Cobb, Jack Bauman, Bill (Susan) Bauman; sisters, Lillian Holmes, Luella VanDine; sister-in-law, Jennie Corkin; 28 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held Saturday at the Funeral Home with Pastor Clayton Smith of Gun Lake Community Church officiating. Interment Elmwood cemetery. BELKA -- Joseph F Belka, aged 79, of Wyoming, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice; children, Sharon (Linda), Karon (Larry) Connor, Rex (Deb) Belka, Pat (Stew) Ausema, Barb (Gary) Seher; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; brothers, Edwin (Delores) Belka, Billy Belka; sisters, Marion Hendrixson, Stella Dorman; sisters-in-law, Arlene and Ruth Belka. Joe was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday at the Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Weidmayer officiating. JABLONSKI -- Helen V Jablonski, aged 101 of Hilliards, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2002. She is survived by her children and their families, Arnold (Dorothy) Adamczyk, Dorothy (Robert) Mull, Richard (Eileen) Adamczyk, Patricia (Robert) Akers, Marge McBride, Justine Northrup, stepson, Richard Jablonski, 32 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and 29 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Adamczyk and Walter Jablonski. Helen was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and Altar Rosary Society. She loved to play cards and her favorite sport was baseball. Mass of Christian Burial and committal was held on Wednesday, December 11th at St. Stanislaus Church with Fr. James Vinh Le as celebrant. KOZLOWICZ -- Mr. Walter P. Kozlowicz, aged 83, of Dorr, MI , passed away peacefully December 13, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel, in 1999 and brother, Steve Gigowski. He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Virginia Hastings of Marion, IN and Concha Woodville of Grand Rapids. Other survivors include his sister, Stella (Alex) Zaremba, Andrew Kozlowski and Art (Marilyn) Gigowski. He leaves to mourn his children, Paul & Joann Kozlowicz, Bob & Linda Kozlowicz, Greg & Liz Kolakowski, Kelvin & Emily Kozlowicz. Grandchildren, Angie Petersen (Kolakowski), Ed (JoBea) Kolakowski, Neil (Briana) Kozlowicz, Ben Kozlowicz, Tony (Jamie) Kozlowicz, Ann Kozlowicz, Mark Kozlowicz, Joel Kozlowicz, Leah & Josh Kozlowicz. He also leaves his great grandchildren Matthew, Billy, Alexis, Amelia, Devon & Monique. Lest we forget his special friend, Rose Covert who was a great comfort to our Dad after Mom passed away. Walter retired from the United States Postal Service and honorably served his country during WWII in the Navy Submarine Division. A memorial service was held at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday. LENARD -- Tammy Lee Lenard, age 31, of Dorr, passed away unexpectedly and went to be with her Lord on December 10, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Mark; children, Maggie age 6, Kristi age 3, and Alexis age 1; her parents, Ron and Sandy Anderson, and Roger and Mary Lenard; brother, Bryan Anderson; sister, Lisa Anderson; grandparents, Rollie Anderson, George and Hazel Waldron and Genevieve Fein; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deb and Rick Lameyer, Mike and Jennifer Lenard, Tim Lenard and Sandy DeBoer, and Joan and Ron Knipping; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and special friends. A funeral mass was held at St. Mary's Visitation Catholic Church with Father Richard Altine officiating and interment was held at North Dorr. Arrangements were by Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to The Tammy Lenard Children's Educational Fund at any Byron Center State Bank location.
HALL -- Margaret "Maggie" Hall, aged 74, of Wayland, passed away, December 10, 2002. She is survived by her children, Frank (Diana) Hall and Roger (Merri) Hall; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Loren (Lois) Edwards; special nephew, Jeff (Joyce) Pintarelli. Funeral services were held Thursday at the United Church of Wayland with Pastor Nancy Zerban officiating. Interment was held at Elmwood cemetery. BALL -- Josephine (Biggs) Ball of Zephryhills, Fla., passed away November 21, 2002. She is survived by her sons, Robert Briggs of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Charles Biggs of Yankee Springs, Karl Briggs of Davie, Fla.;daughters, JoAnn Baker of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Fran Oliver of Zephyrhills, Fla. & Dorothy Drake of Shelbyville; stepchildren, Richard and Gary Ball, Donna Miller & Lorelei Welch; 16 grandchildren & 44 great grandchildren. Her husband, Robert Briggs, daughter Ruth Williamson, grandson Scott Lake & grandson Ronald Baker preceded her in death. Mrs. Ball moved to Florida in 1957 with her husband Robert Briggs. She became a resident of Zephyrhills in 1986, marrying George Ball. Mr. Ball passed away in September 2002. A family memorial service for Mrs. Ball will be held in Michigan at a later date. The family requests memorial donations are sent to Pasco/Hernado Hospice. This beloved mother, grandmother & great grandmother will be greatly missed, but we rejoice that she is in glory with her God.
DUMOND -- Lena "Lee" DuMond, aged 83 of Dorr Twp., passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2002. She is survived by her children, Terry (Linda) DuMond, Richard DuMond, Darla Dietz; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin in 1970; grandson Tim Dietz. Lena retired from Diesel following 30 years of service. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 30 at The Dorr Funeral Home with Pastor William Doubblestein officiating. Interment Jones cemetery. ENGLAND -- Polly England of Hastings, MI formerly of Gun Lake and White Cloud passed away on November 24, 2002 at Plainwell Pines. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert England in 1984, daughter Joan VanderWeg in 1997 and son-in-law Gerald Burchett in 1998. Through her years of dedication to her family and endless loving support, "can't" was never a word in Polly England's vocabulary. She was born on May 31, 1915 in Shelbyville, MI, to Ralph & Bertha (VanScyoc) Knowlton. After attending the Blossom School, Polly helped around the family's farm. She met Robert England at a dance and they were married
on October 1, 1937. Together they ran several businesses, including Hill Top House (a restaurant in their home on Gun Lake), England's Trailer Park & Resort and several cottage rentals. Polly most enjoyed her time spent with her family, especially when she could gather the whole family together. Her family includes her daughters Connie & Daryl Foreman of Hickory Corners, Judy Burchett of Shelbyville and son-in-law Robert VanderWeg of Tekonsha; sister Betty Thomas of Shelbyville; grandchildren Terri & Dale Eaton of Slippery Rock, PA; Linda & Glen Tapling of Evert, MI; Daryl & Ann Foreman of Plainwell; Todd & Shanon Foreman of Delton; Heather & Scott Colthurst of Gun Lake; John & Lisa Burchett of Plainwell; Jeffrey Burchett & James Burchett both of Gun Lake; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Wednesday at Rupert Durham Marshall & Gren Funeral Home, Plainwell Chapel. STIVERS -- Janet R. Walma Stivers, aged 60, of Dorr passed away suddenly Wednesday, December 4, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Herbert; son, Terry (Linda) Grooters; stepchildren, Becky Stivers, Ron Stivers, John Stivers; grandchildren, Lacey, Kimberly, Matthew, Melissa, Marci, Mindie; five great grandchildren; brother, Jim (Gail) Walma; special brother-in-law, Tom Skowronski and his son, Broderick; also several brothers & sisters-in-law, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Ruth Walma; sister, Emily Skowronski. She was a member of Antioch Fellowship Center in Hamilton. Jan was always there to help and make food for anyone who needed it. She was a hairdresser since 1959 and also did home care for the elderly. She did foster care in her home for teenage boys. Memorial Services will be Saturday, December 7, at 11:00 AM at Antioch Fellowship Center, 3925 37th Street, Hamilton with Pastor Ronald Lancaster officiating. Interment at Georgetown cemetery. MEDENDORP -- Scott "Tish" Medendorp, aged 28, of Hastings formerly of Bradley passed away early Tuesday morning, November 19, 2002, after a two week hospital stay trying to control a staph infection. Scott was a graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Scott was employed at General Dynamics Land Systems in Sterling Heights, designing many components for Army tanks. He is survived by his parents, Hilby & Reggie Medendorp of Hastings; his brother, Brian (Sharon) Medendorp of Middleville; grandfather, Richard (Marge) Hines; also many aunts, uncles and cousins. His special friend, Tazzie Mae, his Rottweiler. Funeral Services were Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Hastings with Pastor Nelson Lumm officiating. Interment at Hastings Twp. cemetery. SMITH -- Marilyn Smith, age 58 of Florida formally of Wayland, passed away on November 8, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and Hospice. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Stephen;a son;four daughters;five grandchildren and one great grandchild; her sisters Margaret (Larry) Harden and Susan; sisters-in-law, Alice (Joe) Belka, Peg (Jerry) Merren, Annette (Wayne) Snyder, Jean (Jim) Sonners and Pat and Ed DeHaan; many nieces and nephews and many friends in both the Wayland and Florida areas.
