Clinton, MI (formerly of Ypsilanti)
Age 93, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Bortz Health Care of Ypsilanti. She was born May 18, 1915 in Paynesville, MI, the daughter of Frank and Hilma (Pelkola) Hill. On April 7, 1935, she married Toivo Albert Lehtomaki of Marquette and he preceded her in death October 17, 1990. Hulda was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church for many years. In her later years, she lived in Clinton, MI and during that time, attended the Clinton United Methodist Church. Hulda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Survivors include- five daughters, Esther Seeburger of Clinton, Carol (Gary) Atkins of Arcadia, MI, Shirley (Fonso) Trout of Ypsilanti, Linda (Roger) Waltz of Clinton and Susan Misure of Ypsilanti; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Art Hill of Bruce Crossing, MI; one sister, Nanette (Roger) Brady of Paynesville, MI; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ernie, Yalmer and Leonard Hill; and three sisters, Hilda Jones, Selma Lehtomaki and Fran Godfrey. The funeral service will be 11-00 am Monday, October 6, 2008 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 201 N. River Street, Ypsilanti with Rev. David A. Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the church. Envelopes are available at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends 6-9 pm Saturday, 2-4 & 6-9 pm Sunday and at the church from 10-00 am until time of service Monday. The family wishes to thank Bortz Health Care and Arbor Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to our mother. It was truly appreciated.

McGough, Gary W.
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 59, passed away suddenly Sunday, October 19, 2008 at home. He was born September 16, 1949 in Sipsey, AL, the son of Winfred E. and Dema Mae (Currier) McGough. On August 22, 1970, he married Cheryl Timmons in Ypsilanti and she survives. Gary was a state trooper for the State of MI for 25 years, retiring in 1996. He loved hunting and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. In addition to Cheryl, survivors include- two daughters, Lisa (Todd) Hendricks of Ypsilanti and Chrissy (Dan) Salenbien of Maybee; one son, Jason McGough of Muskegon; four grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, Jackson and Lola; parents, Winfred and Dema McGough of Ypsilanti; three sisters, Donna (Mike) Smith, Penny McGough and Tina (Brian) Kilgore, all of Ypsilanti; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 3-00 pm Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. David A. Hendricks of Emmanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Contributions in Gary's memory may be made to Thin Blue Line of Michigan, P.O. Box 415, Howell, MI 48844-0415. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 11-00 am until time of service Thursday.

Nestor, Raymond L. Jr.
Pittsfield Township, MI
Age 84, passed away Friday, October 10, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born November 26, 1923 in Louisville, KY, the son of Raymond and Anna (Funk) Nestor Sr. He was a 1942 graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Detroit. Mr. Nestor served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII in North Africa and Italy. On July 21, 1951, he married Jane E. Kenning and she survives. He retired from Fisher Body, General Motors. Mr. Nestor was a life member of the Ann Arbor Masonic Lodge #262 F&A.M. and the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also a member of the Ypsilanti Senior Citizens and attended the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti. In addition to his loving wife of 57 years, survivors include- one daughter, Corinne Flynn of Belleville; son, Curt Nestor of Las Vegas NV; one granddaughter, Christine (Ian) Winfree; great granddaughter, Sydney Winfree; two sisters, Dolores Campoy of Hemet, CA and Deanna Gravelle of Westland, MI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jean Buckley, Mary Ann Haniak and Dorothy Colliers. Visitation will be 5-8-00 pm Wednesday, October 15 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel. Private funeral and entombment will be Thursday. Everyone is welcome to a Celebration of Life service starting at 10-00 am Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church, 209 Washtenaw, Ypsilanti. Memorial donations may be made to Save the Children, Org. 54 Wilton Rd., Westport, CT 06880. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.

Palmateer, JR
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 83, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at his home after a long illness. JR was born July 26, 1925 in Litchfield, MI, the son of Claude and Mable Palmateer. He graduated from Quincy High School in Quincy, MI. He married Phyllis Knirk in 1945 and moved to Ypsilanti in 1952, where he was a partner in Southeastern Hardware for nearly 30 years before his retirement. After retirement, he worked part-time at Congdon's ACE Hardware. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, where he served on the Official Board, was superintendent of the Sunday School and served on various committees. The service he enjoyed most was helping in the church kitchen doing dishes and working as a handyman making repairs around the church. He also enjoyed painting, carving and woodworking. In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, survivors include- one daughter, Dawn (Stan) Clark; brother- and sister-in-law, Dr. Harold and Vera Knirk; ten nephews; several cousins; and one aunt. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard. The funeral service will be 11-00 am Thursday, October 2, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, 209 Washtenaw, Ypsilanti with Pastor Melanie Carey officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Contributions in JR's memory may be made to either the church or Arbor Hospice. Envelopes are available at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 pm Wednesday. There will also be visitation at the church from 10-00 am until time of service Thursday.

Robinson, Thomas A. Sr. “T.A.”
Milan, MI
Age 75 passed away at his home on October 3, 2008 with his loving family by his side. He was born February 27, 1933 in Baldwin, Mississippi. On January 5, 1952 he married Geneva Sikes in Waynesboro, Georgia and she preceded him in death in 1983. They moved to Michigan in 1956 and made both Ypsilanti and Milan their homes. TA retired from Willow Run GM plant in 1988. In addition to his companion of 17 years, Sue Fromm of Milan survivors include a son Thomas Allen (Gail) Robinson, Jr. of Ypsilanti, four daughters; Debra R. (Frank) Flinn of Milan, Sara Elaine (Jerry) Morris and Vicki Lynn (Alvin) Grams both of Brooklet, GA. And Linda Gail (Tony) Player of Sumter, SC., eight grandchildren; David Allen Robinson of Milan, Donald Alan Holder of White Lake, MI., Timothy Earl (Christina) Grams of Brooklet, GA., Jeremy Lee Holder of Canton, MI., Steven Levi (Kelli) Morris of Brooklet, GA., James “Michael” Grams of Dana Pointe, CA., Stacie Renee (Russell) Smith of Evans, GA. And James (Jamie) Anthony Player of Sumter, SC., five great grandchildren; Michael Ray Robinson, Dustin Cody Robinson, Madison Ree Grams, Trenton Levi and Colton Gary Morris of Brooklet, GA., One sister Olgie “Pat” (Wilbur) Renfrow of Ypsilanti, two sisters-in-law, Phyliss Robinson of Ypsilanti, MI and Laverne Deland of Tucson, AZ, and many nieces and nephews. Thomas Robinson had many friends and a special nurse Dori Snow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tillman and Mildred Robinson, and three brothers; B. W. “Robbie” Robinson, J.D. Robinson and Melvin M. Robinson. Funeral services will be held 11-00am Monday at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan. Burial will follow in Marble Park cemetery, Milan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-8pm.

Sigworth, Richard E.
Milan, Michigan
Age 91, died October 8, 2008 at Saline Evangelical Home. He was born June 4, 1917 in Cygnet, Ohio to Benjamin and Maude (Miller) Sigworth. On October 21, 1937 he married Dorothy Mae Dunsmore and she survives. Richard retired from Fingerle Lumber in 1982. He was a member of Marble Memorial United Methodist Church in Milan, Masonic Lodge F & AM #323 of Milan, York Chapter, Knights Templer, Milan Ruth Chapter OES #106. He was a retired volunteer of the Milan Fire Dept. and had served on the City Council. He is survived by a daughter Beverly Smith of Milan, son Kim (Penny) Sigworth of Williamston, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey, two brothers Calvin and Herbert, two sisters Bertha Simon and Helen. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 3 - 8pm with a Masonic Service at 7pm at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan where services will be held Thursday, at 11-00am. www.ochalekstark.com.

Thacker, George M. Sr.
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 62, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at University Hospital. He was born November 22, 1945 in McAndrews, KY, the son of Mose and Vada (Hackney) Thacker. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. On February 18, 1970, he married Brenda Thacker and she survives. Mr. Thacker was a journeyman electrician at Motor Wheel and then at N.S.K., retiring in 2007. In addition to his loving wife of 38 years, survivors include- one daughter, Tammy (Jeremy) Endicott of Milan; one son, George (Brandy) Thacker Jr. of Belleville; three grandchildren, Breeanna Endicott, Keara Thacker and Savannah Endicott; six sisters, Pearl McKinney of Ypsilanti, Biridie (Jim) Johnson of South Pittsburg, TN, Shirley (Emerson) Varney and Kay Lewis, both of McAndrews, KY, Arlena Thacker of Georgetown, KY and Eiland Crumbley of Mugus, TX; three brothers, Cannie (Sonna) Thacker of Hillsdale, MI, John (Christine) Thacker of Columbus, GA and Gary Thacker of McAndrews, KY; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold Eugene and Paul Thacker and four sisters, Carrie, Yvonne, Eva and Lurla. Visitation will be 12-9 pm Friday, October 10 at Belleville Free Will Baptist Church, 750 E. Huron River Drive, Belleville with the prayer service at 7-00 pm. The funeral will take place Monday, October 13 in Belfrey, KY with burial following in Mountain Memory Gardens cemetery in Huddy, KY. Arrangements handled by Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel.

Theodore Allen “Ted” Adiska
Milan, MI
Age 84, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 in Chelsea, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne L. (Todd) Detrick and Bonnie A. (Masoud) Keyan; two sons and daughter-in-law, Ted R. Adiska and Gary R. (Rebecca) Adiska; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers Richard and Edwin Adiska; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ted was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsmen. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held 11 am Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan MI. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Age 88, a lifetime resident of Ypsilanti, passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 at Heartland Health Care Center. She was born March 26, 1920 at Beyer Hospital in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Adam and Ada (Lamkin) Loeffler. On September 16, 1939, she married Charles Oliver Trowbridge and he preceded her in death January 11, 1970. Doris worked as a floral designer for Durants and Keller-Stein Flowers and on many county elections. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Senior Citizens of Ypsilanti, RSVP Volunteer and member of the Ypsilanti Thrift Shop. Survivors include- two daughters, Nancy Deck of Plymouth, MI and Charlene Schilk of Trinity, FL; a grandson, Daniel Doerr of Fayetteville, NC and two granddaughters, Dana Perry of Holiday, FL and Deveny Sebastien of Reston, VA; and four great grandchildren, Eleni Doerr, Billy Perry, John Perry and Nina Sebastien. Family memorial at Highland cemetery in Ypsilanti. Memorial contributions may be sent to either Heartland Hospice or MI Heart Association. Arrangements handled through Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel.

Age 37, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 12, 2008. She was born November 1, 1970 in Ypsilanti, MI. Survivors include- her husband, Thomas Yarger; two children, Gerald Thomas Hearns III and Jessica R. Moore; father, James G. Moore; mother, Jeannie L. Castle; one brother, Darrin L. Adams, Windell C. “Shorty”
Canton, MI
Age 66, died Monday, December 15, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor with his loving family by his side. He was born December 7, 1942 in Cannel City, KY to Emel and Bertha (Dalton) Adams. He married Judith A. Warren on August 26, 1963 and she survives. “Shorty” was a competitor at Milan Dragway for over 30 plus years. Besides his wife of 45 years he is survived by one daughter Sherry (Brian) Butler, three sons Vincent (Jacquie) Kelly, Mickey (Stacy) Adams, Jim (Kim) Adams, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four brothers, and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan where services will be held on Thursday at 11am. Adiska, Richard D.
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 83, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born September 23, 1925 in Ypsilanti, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Gable) Adiska. On November 7, 2000, he married Roxann M. Cillen and she survives. He was a Marine Corps World War II veteran who was wounded at Iwo Jima and received the purple heart. In addition to his wife, survivors include- six children, Linda Turner of MT, Debbie McCoy of AL, Richard (David Marshall) Adiska of Romulus, Tara and Tina Adiska, both of Naples, FL and Robin Adiska of Houston, TX; and eleven grandchildren (he was especially fond of his grandson, Cole). He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Irva Johnson. The funeral service will be 1-30 pm Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. David A. Hendricks of Emmanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park. Contributions in his memory may be made to Arbor Hospice Residence. Allstead, Stella “Bee”

Age 76, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born October 9, 1932 in Kentucky, the daughter of John and Tina (Mullins) Johnson. On October 9, 1954, she married Emil Allstead in Dearborn, MI and he survives. Bee was a housewife all her life and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She attended Milan Free Methodist Church. In addition to her loving husband, Emil, of 54 years, survivors include- one daughter, Dawn (John) Alford of Ypsilanti; one son, Emil “Chip” (Vicky) Allstead of Ypsilanti; two grandchildren, John and Emily; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters. The funeral service will be 11-00 am Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Milan Free Methodist Church, 950 E. Arkona Road, Milan with Pastor Jeff Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Marble Park cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel 2-4 & 6-9 pm Tuesday and at the church from 10 am until time of service Wednesday.

Bell, Florene M.
Milan, MI
Age 80, died Tuesday, December 09, 2008 at home. She was born March 15, 1928 in Neoga, IL to Dudley and Elizabeth (Ballinger) Plummer. Florene retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1998 and delivered the Ann Arbor newspaper for over 30 years. She was a member of the Milan Church of Christ and packed service boxes for service men during the Vietnam War. Florene is survived by two sons William “Mike” (Ellen) and Terry Bell both of Milan, four grandchildren Jennifer, Jeremy (Kristina), Terry Lee (Ranae) and Brandon Bell, two great-grandchildren Katelyn and Roman, three sisters Winnie (Norm) Snell, Katherine Webber and Wanda Giraud all of Milan. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Danny. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8pm and Thursday from 3-8pm at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan where services will be held on Friday at 2-00pm with Minister, Dennis Swindle officiating. Beuschlein, Betty L. “Gikki”

Age 64, passed away suddenly Monday, December 1, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born June 11, 1944 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Clarence and Marie (Lytle) Miracle. Betty was married to Glen Beuschlein and he preceded her in death. She retired from General Motors, Hydramatic plant. Survivors include- three daughters, Karen (Phil) Gardner of Ypsilanti, Lesia Metiva of Greenville and Lori (Terry) Beuschlein of Ypsilanti; one son, Tim (Amelia) Beuschlein; Gikki's grandchildren, Tiffany, Cheyenne, Chelsea, Matthew, Sedy and Graycee; one great grandson, Brandon; two sisters, Yvonne Burnette of Ypsilanti and Donna (Tom) Tindall of Chelsea; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister and one brother. The funeral service will be 1-30 pm Friday, December 5, 2008 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Walker of South Side Baptist Tabernacle officiating. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Society. Diggs-Mack, Tina Phillise

Age 47, died suddenly Saturday, December 6, 2008. She was born July 9, 1961 in Detroit, MI. Survivors include- her mother, Lovie Diggs; husband, Minister James Mack; two children, Melanie and Jason Mack; brother, Jimmy Diggs; sister, Lynn Howard; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be 11-00 am Saturday, December 13 at Christian Life Center, 2146 Moeller, Ypsilanti. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-9 pm Friday at Stark Funeral Service with the family hour from 7-8 pm. There will also be visitation at the church from 10-00 am until time of service Saturday.
