Sylvander, Alvina V., Webster Township, MI
Age 83, died after a long illness on February 9, 2000. Alvina was born on March 27, 1916 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Jack and Hilda (Butchart) Feeney. Alvina was married to Hilding Sylvander on September 4, 1937 and preceded her in death on March 25, 1998. She was a homemaker mostof her life and the loving mother of Diane (Richard) Knightly of St. Joseph Donald (Barbara) of Chicago, Donna (James) Feazel of Whitmore Lake, Darlene (John) Bomar of St. Louis, MO and Deborah (Larry) Garris of West Virginia; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Also preceded in death by sister, Dorothea Day and grandson, Derrick Feazel. Alvina was an active member of Generation Together in Dexter. Visitation 10-2 p.m. Saturday with service following at 2 p.m. at Bell-Borek Funeral Home, 7425 M-36, Hamburg (810) 231-0200, the Fr. William Lanphear officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn cemetery, Dexter. Donations are suggested to Hospice of Washtenaw.

passed away on February 10, 2000. He was born on June 27, 1940 in Detroit, MI to Audrey (Mathis) and Harold Herrmann, who survive. Don grew up in Livonia, MI and graduated from Western Michigan University. He is also survived by his sister, Norlene H. Hamilton (H. Barton) of Ann Arbor; daughter, Wendy (David) Marohnic of Mission Viejo, CA; son, D. Scott Herrmann (Sia) of Mesa, AZ; grandson, Shane Marohnic; nephews,Steven F. Martin (Mary) of Ypsilanti, MI and Dan J. Martin (Melissa) of Ann Arbor. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery, Livonia MI, in the spring with a memorial service at that time.

Mr. Johnson, age 56, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2000 at his residence in the loving care of his family. He was born March 20, 1943 in Ann Arbor, MI, son of the late Richard Johnson and Marian (Laidlaw) Horton Mr. Johnson was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local #687 and he also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He is survived by his loving companion, Rebecca Roth; daughter, Michelle Shelli (John) McKiernan of Jacksonville, NC; two sons, Thom Johnson of Grass Lake, MI, and Jason Johnson of Belleville; one step-son, Franklin Johnson of Belleville; his mother, Marian Horton; and step-father, Alan Horton, both of Willis, MI. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Carrett Atkins, DeMarco and Anna Young. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Johnson; and his sister, Judy Johnson. In State DAVID C. Kelly, Helen C., Ann Arbor, MI
Age 83, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2000. Helen graduated from U of M with a Bachelors degree in 1931 and received her Masters in Education in 1966. While at the UofM, she was an editor of Michigan Daily and a member of the Student Senate. She also served with the American Red Cross during World War II. Helen had been a first grade teacher in Plymouth-Canton school system for thirty one years. Surviving are her daughters, Kathy Kelly, Barbara Rolen and Nancy (Ralph) Stephani; her son, Mike Kelly; grandchildren, Anthony DeVan, Kristen, Matt, Allison and Scott Rolen, Tiffani Stephani and Shane Frisinger. Funeral service will be held 12 Noon on Monday, February 14 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at the church 11 a.m. until time of service. Reception will follow. Age 76, passed away Friday, February 11, 2000. He was born December 4, 1923 in Gideon, MO, son of Lawrence H. and Mary (Mannon) Musgrave. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was employed by General Motors, Willow Run for 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of American Legion Post #282, the V.F.W. Post 2408,the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2250 and the Loyal Order of Moose #782. Survivors include his wife,Dorothy; five sons, Larry, Garry (Kay) and Jerry (Karen) Musgrave, and Danny (Betty) and Kenneth (Edna) Hunt; three daughters, Kathy (Michael) Stefina, Debra (Billy) Keeton, and Karon (Jimmy) Mite; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ray (Nina) Musgrave. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores and Millie; and one brother, Jim. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2000 at Stark Funeral Service, Moore Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to the World War II Veterans Memorial Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from Noon Sunday until the time of service.

Age 88, died February 10, 2000 at King Nursing Centre, Houghton Lake, MI. She was born in Midland, MI, the daughter of John and Anna (Smith) Gray on August 8, 1911. She married John Bowden who preceded her in death. Mary had worked in housekeeping at the University of Michigan for many years. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose in Ann Arbor. Survivors include a daughter, Valerie (Robert) Kepler of Prudenville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard.A private family service will be held. Burial will be in the Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor. Age 88, died Thursday, February 10, 2000 at Desert Life Rehabilitation Center in Tucson. She was born on September 3, 1912 in Knox County,IN, the daughter of Hugh and Flora (Mincey) Cook. Survivors include her son, Otto (Carolyn) Tillman Edmonds III of Tucson; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. Otto Tillman Edmonds II and her second husband, Mr. Harold Herman Pepper; and daughters, Lorraine Edmonds and Beatrice Dickey. A memorial service was held in Tucson, AZ on Saturday, February 12 at the home of her grandson. Pastor Forrest Weast of First Baptist Church of Catalina, Arizona officiated. Frey, Kenneth C., Tecumseh, MI
Age 78, died February 11, 2000 in Herrich Manor, Tecumseh. He was born November 16, 1921 in Mt. Clemens, MI the son of Herman and Emma (Karn) Frey. On May 11, 1963, he married Barbara Gonyer in Manchester, MI. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He was retired in 1985 from Johnson Controls. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh and the Saline American Legion. Ken enjoyed playing and coaching baseball, bowling and race cars. Kenneth is survived by his wife Barbara; five children, Charles (Carla) Frey of Ann Arbor, Gary (Lorana) Frey of Drummond Island, Douglas (Pam) Frey of Saline, Kim (Chris) Casteel of Gibraltar and Sandra Frey of Litchfield; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty Frey; one sister, Harriet Schroeder; and three brothers; Robert, Harvey and Harold Frey. Ken was the last surviving member of his family. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Saline, with Military Honors by the Saline American Legion. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. A Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to either Herrick Manor, Herrick Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Age 52, died Friday, February 10, 2000 at Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born February 22, 1947 in Barre, Vermont, the son of Franklin and Isabelle (Buska) Spires. Survivors include four children, Belinda (Larry) Lamphear, Maurice LaPan Jr., Sonya (Timothy) Wilson and Jeffery LaPan; eight brothers and sisters; Jacqueline (Shane) Simpkins, Frederick LaPan, Monica (Gerald) Johnson, Peter (Terri) Spires, Paul (Janet) Spires, Connie (Thomas) Guzinski, Kathy Spires, Rebecca May and nine grandchildren. Mr. LaPan was preceded in death by his father who died January 24, 2000. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2000 at 10 a.m. at JANOWIAK FUNERAL HOME, GEER LOGAN CHAPEL, with Pastor Lee Jordan of Faith Assembly Church of Ypsilanti officiating. Burial will follow at Udell cemetery. Contributions in his memory can be made to Arbor Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
