Age 55, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born November 27, 1943 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Van Riper) Styers. On May 28, 1994, she was married to Charles West in Ypsilanti and he survives. Jeanette's great passion was her family. In addition to her husband, survivors include her five sons, Gary (Rhonda) Holder of Fenton, Kenneth (Linda) Holder, Ronald Holder, Dereck (Crissy) West and Daniel (Tiffeny) West, all of Ypsilanti; one daughter, Jeanea Holder of Ypsilanti; her nine grandchildren; her parents, Robert and Ruth Styers of Holland, MI; three sisters, Carol (Louis) Murillo of Jackson, Bobbie (Bob) Gilbert of Holland and Kathy Glass of Ypsilanti; several nieces and nephews. Jeanette was preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 25, 1999 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Milford Byrd of Community Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Hopp, Clayton Alexander, Jr. Skip, A Vietnam Veteran, died Wednesday,
October 20, 1999, in Cincinnati, OH, the husband of Susan (Parent) Hopp and the father of Megan Elizabeth. He was born in Detroit, MI on August 8, 1945, the son of Clayton and Monica (Williams) Hopp. He graduated from Ann Arbor High School and, after a tour of duty in the United States Army he graduated from Cleary College with a degree in business. He is survived by his parents; his grandmother, Louise Williams; his brother, Daniel Hopp; and sisters, Elizabeth Heller and Emily Salvette. He also leaves nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins. Memorial services at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 703 Compton Rd., Cincinnati, Sunday, October 24, 1999, 6 p.m. Family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to the Finneytown Music Parents, in which he was active, 8916 Fountainebleau Terr., Cincinnati, OH 45231, and if possible donations of blood/platelets to University of Michigan Med Center.

Age 86, passed away Thursday, October 21, 1999. She was born October 2, 1913 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of John and Adeline Knight. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Frank (Bill) Shuda. She is survived by three nephews, John (Jane) , James (Winona) and Robert (Sherry) Devine; many great-nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Dexter, where services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 1999, at 11 a.m., Reverend David Horning officiating. Age 26, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 1999 at home. He was born December 6, 1972 in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of Frank and Caroline (Miller) Wahla. Jonathan attended Highpoint and had received services through Washtenaw Assoc. for Community Advocacy. He was thrilled by swimming, nature, and all the gentle things in life. His smile will be greatly missed by his parents, sisters, and staff at the Clark Home. Survivors include his parents, Frank and Caroline Wahla of Ypsilanti; two sisters, Michelle (Aron) Travis of Florida and Nicolle Wahla of Ypsilanti; and one niece, Josephine Travis of Florida. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 1999 at Transfiguration Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Edmond Ertzbischoff of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church celebrant. Age 84, died on Thursday, October 21, 1999 at the Cedar Knoll Care Center after a long illness. She was born on July 23, 1915 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Isedor and Anna (Gidlund) Sjostrom, who had immigrated from Gidea, Sweden in 1912. Her family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1920, and then to Ann Arbor, MI a few years later when her father was hired as a contractor for the Michigan League. On January 20, 1936 Amy married Raymond Maxwell Ramsey. Amy worked at King Seely, Armen Cleaners, and the University of Michigan Centrex. She attended West Side Methodist Church, and was also involved with the Women's Benefit Association. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Harold Holger (Ethel) Sjostrom; two sisters, Ebba Linnea Sjostrom and Florence Josephine (Elbert) Briggs, all of Ann Arbor, MI; and one half-brother, Oskar Folke Thoren, of Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. She is survived by two daughters, JoAnne (William) Darwin of Waterloo, MI and Patricia (Alan) Deardorff of Ann Arbor, MI; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many cousins; nieces; and nephews in Sweden. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 25, 1999 at COLE FUNERAL CHAPEL, Chelsea, with Rev. Kathy Kursch officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday the 24th, and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday. Burial will take place at Arborcrest cemetery, Ann Arbor. The family requests that memorial contributes be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, or to a charity of choice.

Age 99, died October 21, 1999 in Bortz Health Care, Ypsilanti. She was born June 6, 1900 in Dundee, the daughter of John and Ruba Moore. She was a lifelong resident of Tecumseh and was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Tecumseh, since 1918 and a member of St. Peter's Guild. She was employed by Marvin Watkins of the Smith Store and Goldie Watkins of the Watkins Shop. She retired from the City of Tecumseh, where she was employed as a clerical bookkeeper for 12 years. Cecile enjoyed and was a service to many organizations, a member of D.A.R. Abi Evans Chapter, a member and past president of the Lenawee County Federation of Women's Club, a member and past president of the Tecumseh Monday Club, a member and past Most Excellent Chief of the Tecumseh Pythian Sisters, past president of Tecumseh B.P.W. and was active in the Herrick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Cecile will not only be remembered as a gracious loving grandmother and friend, but also as an accomplished seamstress, a skilled writer of poetry and short stories and an avid reader and book reviewer. Our deepest appreciation for everyone who cared for C.C. at Bortz Health Care, Ypsilanti. Cecile is survived by two grandchildren, Gary (Diane) Elliott of Phoenix, AZ. and Gail (Conley) Thacker of Ypsilanti; four great grandchildren, Jamey (Richard) Ware and Jacquelyn Nass both of Ypsilanti, Michael and Lauren Elliott both of Phoenix, AZ; two great, great, grandsons, Justin and Jordan Ware both of Ypsilanti and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald F. Smith, a daughter Donna Elliott in 1968, a sister Molly Harmon and a brother Roger Moore. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Tecumseh, with the Rev. John Lohmann Officiating. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery, Tecumseh. Age 64, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 1999 St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born October 11, 1935 in Roopville, GA, the son of Jerome and Viola (Person) Brown. On December 25, 1955, he married Joan Dozier in Ypsilanti, MI and she survives. Mr. Brown was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Usher Board. He worked for Ford Motor Company, Rawsonville Plant, retiring after 38 years of service. In addition to his wife of 43 years, survivors include; six children, Debra (Anthony) Herding, Wanda (Kenneth) Hall, William Brown, Gary (Gloria) Brown, Jeffrey Brown and Corey Brown, all of Ypsilanti; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers and sisters, Glenn (Grace) Brown, Jesse (Fannie) Brown, Yvone (Joe), Eloise Strickland, Jerome (Diane) Brown, Steve Brown and Margret Trummell; and a host of other relatives and friends. The Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Monday, October 25, 1999 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Garther Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 P.M. Sunday, October 24, 1999 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel where the family hour will be from 7-8 P.M. Sunday.
Wartinbee, Marjorie S. Jo, (Formerly of Ann Arbor)
Age 71, of Torch Lake, Central Lake Township, formerly of Ann Arbor, and El Cajon, CA, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.Mrs. Wartinbee was the daughter of the late Dr. Dana and Mildred Coors Snell of East Lansing. She was also predeceased by her brother, Keith. On October 9, 1954, in Lansing, she was married by her uncle, the Bishop Stanley D. Coors to Samuel C. Wartinbee, her beloved husband of forty-five years, who survives.Also surviving are four loving children, Linda W. (Bruce) Harvey of Chesapeake, VA, Samuel C. Jr. (Linda) of Fruitland Park, FL, Robert D. (Christina) of North Hollywood, CA, Betsy M. (Jeff) Waldrop of Ann Arbor; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Sherri) Porter, Jessica, Benjamin, Travis, Shelby, Jacob, Steven and Denisa, and a cousin, Robert S. (Betty) Coors of LaMesa, CA and Torch Lake.Jo enjoyed a lifetime love of Torch Lake in northern Michigan. She raised her family in Ann Arbor prior to a retirement move to Torch Lake in 1983. They then wintered in El Cajon, CA where she pursued her love of golf with family and friends year-round. She attended Stephens College in St. Charles, MO, and Michigan State University. She was a deaconess at the First Congregational Church in Ann Arbor, scouting den mother, member of the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers Auxiliary, and enjoyed water and winter sports while raising four children. When the nest was empty, she became active in the Antrim Dells Women's Golf League and the Central Lake Women's Club. She enjoyed traveling and reading, while always having her doors open to family and friends both in Michigan and California.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 26, 1999 at Eleven a.m. at the Ann Arbor First Congregational Church, 608 E. Williams St. (The Maynard Street parking structure is under reconstruction and not available so please allow extra parking time.) The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Ann Arbor.The family will receive their northern Michigan friends Wednesday, October 27, from two p.m. until Funeral Services at three p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes (231-544-3600) . Age 45, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He medically retired as a steel worker form the Great Lakes Steel Company. Paul achieved his associates degree from Washtenaw Community College, and was working towards a bachelors degree in social work. Paul was also active with the Center for Independent Living in Ann Arbor. He is survived by his wife Margaret; son, Vernon Paul Huffaker II; step-son Robert Doubleday Russel; Mother Betty Jane Rea; Father Willard Grant Huffaker; two sisters and three brothers. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 26, 1999 at 1 pm at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Ann Arbor, 4001 Ann Arbor-Saline Rd. Ann Arbor, MI. 48103.
