Age 65, passed on October 1, 1999 after a brief illness. Born October 23, 1933 to Raymond H. and Beatrice (Clark) Forn, Harriett was a lifelong resident of Ann Arbor. She was a 1951 graduate of Ann Arbor High School and a graduate of Hamilton Business College. On May 10, 1957 she married John Herbert Kagay. From that marriage two daughters were born, Anne Marie and Lori Lynn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her in-laws, John J. and Elizabeth H. Kagay. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Eugene Lidster of Ypsilanti and Lori and Tracy Wintermeyer of Ann Arbor; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Susan and Thomas Lavender of Grass Lake; nephew Mark Lavender of Manchester; nieces, Wendy (Neil) Enns of Phoenix, AZ and Paula Lavender of Durham, NC. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. The family will receive visitors Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL. Interment at Bethlehem cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Arbor Hospice.

De Saeger, Andrew, Stockbridge, MI

Age 57, passed away October 2, 1999, at his home. He was born on October 18, 1941, in Denderwindeke, Belgium, the son of Adelson and Madeleine (Steenhoudt) De Saeger. He had atotal of 33 years in education, 25 as Administrator and the past ten years as Superintendent in various districts including Stockbridge. On November 8 1968, he married Helen Pelier in Detroit and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia (David) Ringe of Saline and Kathryn G. De Saeger of Stockbridge, one brother. Gratien (Cindy) De Saeger of Greenwood, Indiana, and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edmonde. Funeral arrangements are pending. Diegel, Clement Francis, Sr., Ypsilanti, MI

Age 88, passed away Saturday morning, October 2, 1999. Mr. Diegel was born on September 24, 1911 in Detroit, MI, the son of Henry and Mary (Schroder) Diegel. The family moved to Ann Arbor, when Clem was 10 years old. His father was manager of the A & P store on North Main Street in Ann Arbor. He received his early education at St. Thomas Catholic School and graduated from Assumption High School in Windsor, Ontario. He attended Eastern Michigan and Cleary College. Clem was an A & P store manager for over 45 years, opening the new stores in Ypsilanti, Pontiac and Birmingham. He was very active in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ypsilanti and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ann Arbor. He had been a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council #3230 of Ypsilanti, where he served as corresponding Secretary for over 45 years. On June 16, 1936 he was married Viola Vivian, who survives. Also surviving are his children; Clement F. Skip (Barbara) Diegel Jr. of Grand Rapids and Elizabeth Ann (Michael Ebel) Lengel-Ebel of Ypsilanti; six grandchildren, David D. (Debbie) Lengel, Bonnie Marie (Walter) Hodge, Michael J. Lengel, Scott M. Lengel, Todd Diegel and Laura Diegel; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Michael, Cory Hodge; a sister, Lillian Markey. Funeral Mass, will be recited 11 a.m. Monday, October 4, 1999 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2270 Stadium Blvd. Rev. Fr. James McDougell, celebrant. A rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the NIE FUNERAL HOME, 2400 Carpenter Rd., where the family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Memorial tributes may be made in Mr. Diegel's honor to the St. Francis Educational Fund.Envelopes are available at the Nie Funeral Home.

Szymchack, Edward J., Kalkaska, Mi.

Age 55. Died Friday evening at his home. He was born in Ann Arbor on March 5, 1944. Friends may call at the WOLFE FUNERAL HOME in Kalkaska from 5 to 9 p.m. today, Sunday.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Miller, Katherine I., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 91, passed away August 17, 1999 in Wenatchee, Washington after a brief illness. She was born January 22, 1908 to George and Caroline (Kotts) Miller. She was a lifelong resident of the Ann Arbor area. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, and Executive Secretary at the U of M Administrative Dept for 44 years, retiring in 1965. She attended the University of Michigan. She also served in the Waves in World War II. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Sallness and Gertrude White. Survivors include a nephew, James White of Tacoma, Washington; niece, Barbara Wilson of Wenatchee, Washington; several great nieces and nephews; two great-great nephews. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on October 30, 1999 at First United Methodist Church, 120 S. State St. in Ann Arbor. She asked to be buried at the Garden of First United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

Clark, Donald F., Howell, MI

Age 84, died Saturday, October 2, 1999. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Tuesday from St. Joseph Catholic Church, Howell. Visitation will be held Monday 1-4 and 6-8 with Scripture service 7 p.m. at MacDonald's Funeral Home, Howell. 517-546-2800

Age 93, died October 2, 1999 at Saline Evangelical Home. A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan with the funeral service 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial in London cemetery.

Picklesimer, Ishmael Sr., Chelsea, MI

Age 76, died Saturday, October 2, 1999 in Ann Arbor. He was born January 28, 1923 in Stella, KY, the son of Ted Picklesimer and Katie (Dunn) Picklesimer Lovely. Ishmael retired from Rockwell after 34 years of service. He was a life member of the Olive Lodge #156 F&AM, a member of the Chelsea Fire Dept, and the Chelsea Rod & Gun Club. He married Mae Bailey on March 6, 1948 and she survives. Other survivors include his children, Ted Picklesimer, Castle Jerry (Mary E.) Picklesimer, Linda (Gail) Shears, Rita (Karl) Gadnai, Ismael (Debra) Picklesimer Jr., Samual (Theresa) Picklesimer, James Picklesimer;11 grandchildren, Jason Castle Picklesimer, Steven Picklesimer, Clinton Shears, Lisa Shears, Ryan Shears, Erin Picklesimer, Cory Picklesimer, Kristopher Gadnai, Jennifer Gadnai, Jeffrey Picklesimer, Dustin Picklesimer; three step-grandchildren, Michael Toth, Jennifer Gallas, Ashley Beeman; three great-grandchildren, Steven Picklesimer, Natasha Picklesimer, Alyssa Picklesimer; one sister, Reva (Albert) Montgomery; six half-sisters, Iva Jean (Albert) Wisccup, Jewel Goff, Nola Patrick, Phyllis (Wayne) Stutzman, Joy Lee (Ray) Fulks, Wanda Gay (Hershell) Cole; and two sisters-in-law, Wilma Picklesimer and Rosamond Lovely. He waspreceded in death by his brother, Mitchell Picklesimer Sr; and a half-brother, Elwood Lovely. The funeral service will held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at COLE FUNERAL CHAPEL, Chelsea, with Rev. James Massey officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove cemetery, Chelsea. The family will receive friends Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with a Masonic Service Tuesday 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Olive Lodge #156.

Schoem, Gerald Noah, Ann Arbor, MI

Age 77, died Saturday night, October 2, 1999. He was born in New Jersey on March 22, 1922 to Herman and Mae Schoem. He was a devoted husband, loving father, caring grandfather and successful administrator and fundraiser. He is survived by Sara, his wife of 57 years; his sons and their wives, Mark and Esther of San Pedro, CA and David and Karyn of Ann Arbor; grandchildren, Davida, Jesse, Adina and Shana; and his brother, Robert (Georgiana) of New Jersey. He began his career as Executive Director of Beth Hamidrosh Hagadol in Denver, CO and then served for 20 years as Executive Director of Har Zion Temple of Philadelphia, PA. In recognition of his numerous achievements, he was made President of the National Association of Synagogue Administrators. He was a fundraiser for Hahneman Hospital in Philadelphia. He also successfully raised monies for Israel Bonds for many years, leading many fundraising trips to Israel with Fortune 500 corporate and business leaders from around the country.He moved to Ann Arbor in 1988. As a volunteer in retirement, he has been a fundraiser for Turner Geriatric Clinic and has led a lively discussion group at Hillside Terrace Retirement Home. He is an active member of Beth Israel Congregation of Ann Arbor. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, October 4 at Beth Israel Congregation. Janowski, Dorothy M. (Molly) , Pinckney, MI

Age 81, passed away October 2, 1999 at her residence. She was born on June 15, 1918 in Chelsea, MI to Goettlieb Koengeter and Amanda (Niehaus). She married Melvin Janowski in 1935 in Ann Arbor, MI, he preceded her in death in May of 1978. Dorothy was employed as a secretary for the Pinckney Community Schools. Survivors include one son, James (Stephanie) Janowski of Dexter; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Dougan of Florida; special friend, Emerson Burns; and niece, Patricia Murphy. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Marie Fletcher in February of 1983. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday, October 4. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 5 at SHELTERS FUNERAL HOME, Pinckney, with the Rev. Carl Welser officiating. Burial will be at Vermont cemetery, Chelsea. Memorials may be made to the Karmonos Cancer Institute American Cancer Society, or Livingston Community Hospice. Arrangements by Shelters Funeral Home, Pinckney.

Weber, John A., Chelsea, MI

Age 94, died Monday, October 4, 1999 in his home. He was born on May 14, 1905 in Busbach, Germany. Mr. Weber came to the United States in 1923 and settled in Chelsea in 1941. He married Flora M. Shipp in Mt. Clemens, MI on December 28, 1933, and she preceded him in death June 10, 1986. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Joanne Weber of Chelsea; three grandchildren, James (Carla) Weber of Georgia; Norman Weber of New York City, NY, Martha Weber of Jackson; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 6 at the COLE FUNERAL HOME in Chelsea, with burial following at the Oak Grove cemetery, Chelsea. The family willreceive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washtenaw.

Hardnock, Callum James, Brighton, MI

Infant son of Richard and Angela (Frost) Hardnock. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 4, 1999 at Bell-Borek Funeral Home, Hamburg.

Evans, David Stanley Jr., Okemos, MI

Long time Methodist minister who served churches throughout Michigan, died October 1, 1999 at age 82. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine Cherry Evans (formerly of Shelbyville, Indiana) ; and two daughters, Susan (Roy) Muir and Elizabeth (Jerry) Getzel; and daughter-in-law, Jacalyn Evans. He is also survived by a brother, George Morey (Helen) Evans of Lancaster, PA; and by six grandchildren, Christopher Lemon, Renee Lemon, Zachary Evans, Alexis Evans, Bryant Getzel and Alyssa Getzel. He was preceded in death by his son, David Stanley Evans III in 1998. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. A graduate of Boston University School of Theology in 1944, Reverend Evans began his ministry in Michigan as associate pastor at First United Methodist Church in Jackson. He served as senior minister at Okemos Community Church (1950-1959) , at First United Methodist Church in Battle Creek (1959-1966) , First United Methodist Church in Hillsdale (1971-1979) , and First United Methodist Church in Albion until his retirement in 1985. He was Director of West Michigan Conference Board of Christian Social Concern in Grand Rapids from 1966 until 1971. Since his retirement he has served as Pastor Emeritus at Okemas Community Church. Reverend Evans served in the United States Navy in World War II as a Chaplain and retired from the Navy Reserves as a Lt. Commander in 1969. He was a graduate of Indiana University (1941) and received his doctorate from Michigan State University in 1966. He worked tirelessly for social justice, and served on many religious, civic and community organizations and boards toward that end. He was a prolific writer and editor for church, social, and political publication. He was a long time active member and officer at the time of his death of the North Central Jurisdictional Commission on Archives and History for the Methodist Church. He was also a lifelong member of Kiwanis and a Knights Templar Mason. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 8, at Okemos Community Church. The family will greet friends at a luncheon following the service. Contributions may be made in Reverend Evans memory to the Okemos Community Church, P.O. Box 680, Okemos, MI 48805 for the Church Memorial Fund, the Youth Choirs, or for the Blind Children's Fund.

Faitel-Buko, Betty, Dearborn, MI

Age 61, passed away September 29, 1999 at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor. Loving mother of Alan (Lori), Brian (Maha Chourosa), Craig, Duane (Sandra). Also survived by brothers, Ed, Jack, Joe and Norman; sisters, Cecelia, Marie, Veronica. Funeral Mass was at Sacred Heart Church, Saturday, October 2, 1999. Burial was at St. Joseph cemetery, Dexter on October 4, 1999. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
