SCARBOROUGH, KAREN C. (LOUDY) Of Altavista, Virginia, formerly of Waterford. April 27, 1953-August 10, 1999. Karen had a passion for life unmatched by anyone. She made daring choices, regarding her health, business and political ideas. She loved music and sang with gusto. She had a tender heart for all animals and fearlessly protected them. Karen was the first to take part in an experimental surgery which involved transplanting pancreatic islet cells and keeping her insulin free for 14 days. She often said those were the best days of her life. She successfully owned and operated Scarborough Fair Graphics in Altavista until her untimely death. She married Scott Scarborough in Hawaii on May 8, 1986. He was her best friend and devoted soulmate. Loving mother of Sandra Lynn Raymond of Vancouver, Washington. Sadly missed by her parents Patrick and Sylvia Chieca of Davisburg and Don ond Gloria Loudy of Northville. Loving daughter-in-law of Ed and Doris Scarborough of Palm Coast, Florida. Beloved sister of Charlotte (Jim) Natschke of Holly, D Ann (Kirby) Walmsley of Hohenwald, TN, Patricia (Jeff) Werthman of West Bloomfield and Kenneth Loudy of White Lake. Dear sister-in-law of Chris (Doreen) Scarborough of Redford. Darling grand-daughter and special friend of Alice Reiman Wright of Davisburg. Dear grand-daughter of Charles and Isabelle Chieca of Davisburg and Ed Scarborough Sr. of Daytona Beach, Florida. Fun loving Aunt of Lisa, Jimmy, Christa, Jason, Mandy, Cassie, Nick, Annie Laurie and Patrick. Dearest friend of Melissa Loudy. SWAGLER, ARVID E. "ARV" Lansing, formerly of Detroit area. Age 76, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather was called home by the Lord on August 16, 1999 to be with his son, Steven. Born September 5, 1922 in Lansing, MI. Mr. Swagler in his youth was active in 4-H and won several ribbons and a state championship for his Guernsey Cattle. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1941-45. He retired in 1978 as District Manager-Facilities in the Detroit area for Michigan Bell. He was a member and usher at Trinity Lutheran Church; member of Elks B.P.O.E #196. He was preceded in death in 1983 by his son, Steven. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Ruth A.; daughter, Jean (Lawrence) Thelen; two sons, Spencer (Linda) Swagler, and Joel (Linda) Swagler; daughter in-law, Pam: seven grandchildren, Koleen, Kim, Kelli, Celene, Casey Jo, Katie, & Sarah; one great grandson, Kolin; brother John (Dolly) Swagler; many nieces & nephews. McFAUL, NELSON A., August 16, 2000 of St. Clair Shores. Beloved husband of Virginia (Rose). Dear father of Mark (Kathy), Paula (Mark) Gardner and the late Larry. Mr. McFaul was a member of VFW Post 6691, Fraser, MI and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a retired engineer from the Warren Tank Plant. During WWII he was a parachutist/infantryman for the 101 Airborne Division. He participated in the D-Day invasion at Normandy and later became a P.O.W. He earned a purple heart with 2 bronze Oakleaf clusters while in Europe. Visiting hours Thursday 3-9 PM, Friday 2-9 PM, Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores.
