Mary Moody
SHAPLEIGH -- Mary A. Moody, 80, of Shapleigh Road, died Sunday (listed Tuesday, May 9, 2000) at The Greenwood Center, Sanford, Maine.
She was born May 9, 1919 in Shapleigh, a daughter of James G. and Katherine M. Grant Rankin. Mrs. Moody lived in Shapleigh all of her life, and was a 1937 graduate and valedictorian of the former Lindsay High School.
Mrs. Moody was the tax collector in Shapleigh for 14 years. She was the treasurer for the Highland Grove Cemetery
in Shapleigh for several years, leaving that position last year.
She and her husband Richard A. Moody, Sr., who died in 1980, raised, trained and raced horses. Mrs. Moody loved birds, having many bird feeders at her home for them.
A sister, Helen Shedd, died previously.
She is survived by a son, Richard A. Jr.; three brothers, Lewis Rankin and James K. Rankin, both of Sanford, and Robert Rankin, Shapleigh; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Moody and a grandson, Michael Patrick Moody, both of Shapleigh.
Dorothy Provencher
BIDDEFORD -- Dorothy Provencher, 81, formerly of Granite Street, died Monday (listed Tuesday, May 9, 2000) at Southern Maine Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 30, 1918 in Black Lake, P.Q., Canada
, a daughter of Wilfred and Laura Ferland Pomerleau. She moved to the area as a child and attended Biddeford schools.
On July 4, 1942, she married Roland Provencher at St. Andre's Church. He died Nov. 21, 1998.
Mrs. Provencher resided in Connecticut from 1954 through 1981. There she worked as a CNA for 20 years with New Britain General Hospital, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Two daughters, Madeleine and Ann Marie Provencher, died as infants.
Surviving are one son, Paul, of Albuquerque, N.M.; three daughters, Diane (Mrs. Thomas) Keller of Garden City, N.Y., Janice (Mrs. Donald) MacMaster of Saco, and Laurie (Mrs. John) Michaud of Old Orchard Beach; one sister, Grace Mondor, of Lynn, Mass.; two brothers, Roland and Raymond Pomerleau, both of San Francisco, Calif.; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
PROVENCHER
DOROTHY, formerly of Biddeford, died May 8, 2000 in Biddeford. Visiting hours 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andre's Church, Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andre's Church Renaissance, 41 Sullivan St., Biddeford, Maine 04005.

MARY A., of Shapleigh, died May 7, 2000 in Sanford. Visiting hours Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Heald Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Springvale, where a funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

EDWINA A., of Cape Porpoise, died May 4, 2000 in Biddeford. An Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, followed by a graveside service in Arundel Cemetery, North Street, Kennebunkport, the Rev. Jo Bennett officiating. Marguerite Haley
LIMERICK - Marguerite Wedgewood Haley, 84, of Limerick Mobile Home Park, died at home Tuesday (listed Wednesday, January 21, 1998).
She was born Aug. 4, 1913, in Limerick a daughter of Herbert C. and Gladys Furlong Wedgewood, attended local schools and lived in Limerick all her life.
For more than 20 years Mrs. Haley was employed as a twister at the Limerick Textile Mill, then worked 25 years at the Wright's and Westbrook spinning mills in Westbrook. From 1966 until retiring in 1976, she was employed by Sprague Electric in Sanford.
Throughout her life, and together with her husband, she enjoyed fishing and camping, especially in the Rangeley Lakes area. She also enjoyed flowers and always had a great sense of humor.
She was predeceased by a son, Frank L. Haley, in 1980.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Frank M. Haley of Limerick; two daughters, Marlene H. Hansen of Kezar Falls and Barbara A. Waters of Palmetto, Fla.; a sister, Florence Coggill of Cohasset, Mass.; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Ada Preston
NORTH BERWICK - Ada M. Preston, 86, of Main Street, died Monday (listed Wednesday, January 21, 1998) at Varney Crossing Nursing Care Center.
Mrs. Preston was born in Wells, a daughter of Moses and Ella Mills White.
She was predeceased by her husband, Verne Preston, in 1970.
She is survived by a sister, Jesse Newhall of North Berwick.
Raymond Warner
BIDDEFORD - Raymond J. Warner, 75, of Proctor Road, died Monday (listed Wednesday, January 21, 1998) at Southern Maine Medical Center.
He was born April 4, 1922, in Biddeford, a son of Denis and Yvonne Duguay Warner, and was educated at St. Joseph's School.
He served in the Army.
For 11 years Mr. Warner was employed as a police officer by the Biddeford Police Department and also worked for several contractors as a mason tender.
He was a member of the Rochambeau Snow Shoe Club and the Biddeford Senior Citizens.
He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, cutting wood and traveling with his wife, Janet.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Blanche LaRose, in 1962.
On June 30, 1973, he married Janet A. Pelletier Mathieu at St. Andre's Church.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years of Biddeford; two sons, Paul of Clearwater, Fla., and Mark of Biddeford; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Priscilla) Volinsky of Rollinsford, N.H.; two stepsons, Eddie Mathieu of Biddeford and Paul Mathieu of Las Vegas, Nev.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ernest (Lucille) Moreau of Arundel and Anita Mathieu of Las Vegas; two brothers, Leo of Biddeford and Robert of Scarborough; a sister, Irene Thibodeau of Biddeford; four grandchildren, 11 stepgrandchildren, eight stepgreat-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn White
WELLS - Evelyn C. White, 89, of Wells, and formerly of Brockton, Mass. died Monday (listed Wednesday, November 25, 1998) at the Country Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Norton, Mass.
She was born Oct. 16, 1909 in Middleboro, Mass. a daughter of George and Annie McLeod Gammon, and attended Brockton schools.
Mrs. White was employed at New England Telephone Co., in Quincy, Mass. for 32 years, retiring in 1974.
She had lived in Wells for the past 17 years.
Mrs. White was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church, Kennebunk, and a former member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brockton.
She was a past district grand matron of Madonna Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Kennebunk. She was a worthy grand matron of the Rebekah Lodge of Brockton, a member of the Rugged Cross Chapter, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Auburn, and held several national positions in its organization. As well, she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Her first husband was Hugh W. Duff.
She was predeceased by her second husband, Ernest White.
Matthew T. Flaherty of Taunton, Mass. was a special friend.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel B. of Libby, Mont. and Robert L. of Merritt Island, Fla.; a daughter, Carol A. Bruce of Taunton; a brother, Lester Gammon of Scituate, Mass.; a sister, Leona Webb of Scituate; seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Sara Johnson
NORTH BERWICK - Sara E. Johnson, 80, of Portland Street, died Tuesday (listed Wednesday, November 25, 1998) at the Newton Center, Sanford.
She was born Feb. 21, 1918 in Sanford, a daughter of Omer “Sam” and Odile (LeBlanc) Frechette, and attended St. Ignatius School.
A homemaker most of her life, she had most recently lived on Jackson Street in Sanford.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur L. Johnson, in 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Kotch of Merrick, N.Y.; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
