DORA, of Saco, died May 1 (1999) in Scarborough. Visiting hours 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Alfreda Guay
SACO - Alfreda Guay, 85, of Hill Street, died Sunday at Newton Center for Nursing Care in Sanford.
She was born Feb. 7, 1914 in Biddeford, a daughter of Ulric and Amanda Boisvert Forest, and attended St. Andre's School.
Mrs. Guay was employed at the Pepperell Manufacturing Company in Biddeford for 10 years and was a fancy stitcher at Kesslen Shoe in Kennebunk for several years.
She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her husband, George Guay, died Jan. 24, 1990.
Survivors include a son, Normand G. of East Waterboro; a daughter, Pauline Dalton of Alfred; a brother, Rudolph Forest of Kemp, Texas; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Madeline Labbe
BIDDEFORD - Former resident Madeline R. Labbe, 84, of Brunswick, died Saturday at Hawthorne House in Freeport.
She was born May 14, 1915 in Biddeford, a daughter of Joseph A. and Emily F. Girard Paquin, and was a 1933 graduate of Biddeford High School.
On June 1, 1935 she married Ralph W. Labbe at St. Joseph's Church.
She was a member of the Biddeford and Saco Thursday Club, the Lochmere, N.H. Women's Club and the Maine State Music Theatre Angels.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church.
A son, Bernard, died in 1982.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years of Brunswick; two daughters, Prisca (Mrs. Homer B.) Kenison and Mary (Mrs. Earl) Cuthbertson, both of Brunswick; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.
James McCarn
SANFORD - James C. McCarn, 69, of Grammer Street, died Saturday at Goodall Hospital.
He was born Jan. 1, 1930 in Sanford, a son of Printess and Beatrice (Hall) McCarn, and was a graduate of Sanford High School.
Mr. McCarn was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was the recipient of the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat.
He was employed at Wasco in Sanford, retiring in 1995.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Sanford Country Club and served as a ranger there. He also enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Gabrielle (Charpentier) McCarn of Sanford; two sons, Mark C. of Sanford and Steven J. of Berwick; and two grandsons, Aaronjames and Cruz, both of Sanford.
Mariette Montembeau
BIDDEFORD - Mariette Montembeau, 76, of Hillside Avenue, died Sunday at Kennebunk Nursing Center in Kennebunk.
She was born Oct. 4, 1922 in Daveluyville, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of Elphege and Anna LeBlanc Marcotte, and was educated in Canadian schools.
Mrs. Montembeau was employed for six years in textile manufacturing in Drummondville, Quebec.
On Sept. 4, 1948 she married Eddie Roger Montembeau in Drummondville and the couple moved to Biddedord area the same year.
Mrs. Montembeau was employed for 22 years with the Pepperell Manufacturing Company and as a chef at the Sweetser Home in Saco for 15 years. She also worked at St. Andre's Church Rectory for three years and St. Andre's Convent for two years.
She enjoyed home crafts and sewing and was known for her custom-made draperies.
Her husband died Sept. 11, 1969.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne of Biddeford; two sisters, Irene Bergeron of Drummondville and Leda St. Onge of St. Bruno, Quebec; and several nieces and nephews.
David Parquette
SACO - David M. Parquette, 46, of Seaside Avenue, died Saturday in Bangor.
He was born Dec 1. 1952 in Augusta, a son of Alonzo and Mary Fisher Parquette, and was a graduate of Cony High School, where he earned recognition as an All-American basketball player. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Maine, Farmington where he continued to excel at basketball and baseball, survivors say.
Mr. Parquette was employed by Central Maine Power Co. for nine years. He then worked as a special education teacher at Sweetser Children's Services, where he had been coordinator of the Experiental Learning Pre-Vocational Program.
His dedication to children and coaching was further demonstrated during the years he coached Saco Little League, where he brought his all-star team to the District Four championship in 1994. He coached freshman and varsity basketball at Thornton Academy and had recently been appointed varsity coach. He was looking forward to coaching both his son and his nephew.
Mr. Parquette served in the Maine National Guard for 26 years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served as commander of the 3620th Unit during the Persian Gulf War, and during his tour of duty corresponded with children at Fairfield School, where his son was then in second grade, and at C.K. Burns School and Thornton Academy.
After his return from the Gulf War he visited children in each classroom and shared his experiences in Saudi Arabia.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Eslie Pendleton Parquette of Saco; a daughter, Alison and a son, Drew, both of Saco; three brothers, Franklin of Gardiner, Robert of Augusta and Michael of Jefferson; two sisters, Patricia St. Pierre of Topsham and Mary Dorothea of Biddeford; an aunt and uncle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

MADELINE R., of Brunswick and formerly of Biddeford, died Oct. 2 (1999) in Freeport. There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

DAVID M., of Saco, died Oct. 2 (1999) in Bangor. Marie Thompson
SACO — Former resident Marie Thompson, 91, of Portland died Saturday at Maine Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 21, 1908 in Biddeford, a daughter of Manuel and Maria DeSilva DeSilva, and attended Biddeford schools.
Mrs. Thompson was employed by Pepperell Mfg. for most of her working life.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Thompson was a former communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Thompson, in February, 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Eleanor (Mrs. Robert) Hill of Portland, with whom she resided; a son, Leroy of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Louis DeSilva of Hollis, Antonio DeSilva of Biddeford and Joseph DeSilva of Waterboro; a sister, Philomene Laroche of Biddeford; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Foster Quint
NORTH BERWICK — Foster C. Quint, 92, formerly of Bauneg Beg Hill, died Saturday at Goodall Hospital.
He was born Aug. 15, 1907 in North Berwick, a son of Bernard V. and Ellen (Chadbourne) Quint, and had been a lifelong resident until moving to his son's home in Cape Porpoise for years ago.
Mr. Quint was educated in a one room schoolhouse in North Berwick through the ninth grade.
He was employed at the former Goodall Sanford textile mills in the shipping department and as an expediter in the production department from 1928 to 1955, when the mills closed. He worked from 1955 to 1957 at the former North Star Woolen Mill and at the former Alloy Products from 1957 to 1960. He worked as a press operator at Hussey Manufacturing in North Berwick from 1960 until his 1974 retirement.
Mr. Quint was a former member and chancellor of Riverside Lodge, Knights of Pythias. He was a former member of the Sanford-Springvale Fish and Game Protective Association, was an avid
hunter, and was a member of the Big Buck Club of Maine.
He was a 70-plus year member and past master of Bauneg Beg Grange, North Berwick, and a member of York Pomona, state and national granges. He was a member of Yorkshire Lodge, AF & AM in North Berwick for more than 40 years, and was a member of the White Rose Chapter, Royal Arch Masons of Sanford.
Mr. Quint was predeceased by his wife, Jessie George Quint in 1991.
Survivors include a son, John B. of Cape Porpoise; a foster daughter, Mary Babcock of North Berwick; a grandson, Peter Quint of Cape Porpoise ; a granddaughter, Karen Ruel of North Berwick; and five great-grandchildren.
Cecile Levasseur
BIDDEFORD— Former resident Cecile M. Levasseur, 76, died Sunday at Ste. Marguerite d'Youville Pavilion, Lewiston, where she had lived for the past two months.
She was born in Biddeford May 10, 1923, a daughter of Pierre and Beatrice Lavigne Leclerc, was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, and St. Mary's School of Nursing, Lewiston.
On June 12, 1948 she married Roland A. Levasseur June 12, 1948. He died May 18, 1996.
Mrs. Levasseur was employed by the City of Lewiston as Health Nurse Officer for 27 years, prior to her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Lewiston, where she was a volunteer, and also volunteered at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
Family members say Mrs. Levasseur loved to entertain at her Taylor Pond summer residence and to knit for her friends and relatives.
Survivors include three sisters, Marguerite Boucher of Auburn, Therese (Mrs. Isreal) Martin of Fayville, Mass., and Francoise (Mrs. Frank) Ford of Mechanic Falls; many nieces and nephews.
