AUGUSTA

Lillian Irene Tobin Cobb – age 75 of Cony Rd., and formerly of Sewall St., died Saturday, December 7, 2002 at Maine Veterans Home after a long illness. She was born in Wilton on May 31, 1927 the daughter of Carrol and Myrtle (Norris) Tobin.

Mrs. Cobb was a home maker for most of her life, but most recently had worked for the State of Maine, first in the Secretary of State Department and then for the Maine State Museum.

She was a graduate of Wilton Academy and had attended college in Boston, MA.

Mrs. Cobb was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 117 in Wilton for 65 years.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, William H. Cobb and her daughter, Penny Palmer.

Mrs. Cobb is survived by her son, Dennis Cobb and his fiancée, Bonnie Billings of Chelsea; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 13th at 1 PM in the Fr. Leonard LeClair Memorial Chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.

SIDNEY

Dr. Philip Dachslager – age 91, of Thistle Lane, died November 27, 2002 at Maine Veterans Home following a long illness. He was born in New York, NY on June 29, 1911 the son of William Dachslager and Fanny (Gamser) Dachslager.

Dr. Dachslager graduated from City College in three years. He graduated from the University of Zurich in 1936 and from New York University in 1938. He served his residency at Beekman Hospital in New York City and practiced medicine in New York and Plainfield, NJ.

He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a Captain during World War II. He later served as the Medical Admitting Officer at the Veterans Hospital at Togus, Maine for two years. He was in private practice in Augusta for 45 years, retiring in 1993.

Dr. Dachslager was a member of the American Medical Association and the Maine Medical Association. He enjoyed photography, fishing, golf, tennis and bowling. He took a 48 day sailing trip around the world. He traveled extensively in his healthy years.

His parents preceded him in death as well as a sister, Sylvia Booth, PhD who was a psychologist in New York City.

Surviving is his wife of 30 years, Lucille (Veilleux) Dachslager of Sidney; a sister-in-law, Jackie LaPorte and her husband Everett of Winslow and Florida; a niece, Michelle Atwood and grandnephews Matthew Atwood and Stephen Atwood of Jefferson; and Dr. Dachslager’s little Bichon Frise, BJ.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visiting hours. A committal service will be held 9 AM Wednesday, Dec. 4th at Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery Chapel, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. Memorial contributions may be made to Maine Veterans Home, Augusta Rehabilitation Center, Alzheimer’s, MaineGeneral Medical Center or the charity of your choice.

AUGUSTA

Florianne R. Desjardins – age 79, of Glenridge Drive and formerly of Second Street, Hallowell, died December 10, 2002 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care at Glenridge Drive after a brief illness. She was born in Augusta, ME on June 18, 1923 the daughter of Aime Blais and Clemence (Jacques) Blais.

Mrs. Desjardins was a 1941 graduate of Cony High School and attended Gates Business College.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the State of Maine for 27 years.

Mrs. Desjardins was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of Augusta, the Maine State Employees Association and the National Council of Senior Citizens.

Her husband, Alcide Desjardins, died in 1982.

Surviving are four sons, Paul Desjardins of Augusta, James Desjardins of Sidney, David Desjardins of Gardiner and Felix Desjardins of Manchester, NH; one daughter, Paula Kendall and her husband Timmy of Vassalboro; two sisters-in-law: Mrs. Lawrence (Arlene) Laliberte of Augusta, and Mrs. Gordon (Loretta) Eaton of Bucksport; six grandchildren: Angela Brann and her husband Michael of West Gardiner, Todd Desjardins of Rockland, Jarrod Desjardins of Farmingdale, Christopher Desjardins of Farmingdale, Kristin Kendall and Erick Kendall, both of Vassalboro; two great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial Mass will be offered 10 AM Saturday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery at a later date.

WINTHROP

Rita N. Dostie – age 71, of the Metcalf Road and formerly a longtime resident of the Hicks Road, Augusta, died Dec. 3, 2002 at the home of her daughter after a long illness. She was born in Veazie, Maine on Nov. 5, 1931 the daughter of Arthur Kennett and Frances (Stanchfield) Kennett.

Rita was educated in Bangor area schools.

Besides being a wife and mother, she was employed by Bernard’s Foodland in Augusta for 25 years. She previously worked at W.T. Grants and Christie’s Restaurant in Augusta.

Rita was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church of Augusta.

Her husband, Robert E. Dostie, Sr., died on March 29, 1980.

Surviving is a son, Robert E. Dostie, Jr., his companion Deborah Chabot and his children: Nicholas, Joseph, Just and Benjamin, all of Hallowell; two daughters, Cynthia L. Lavallee. her husband Steven and her children: Carrie, Krystal and Amber, all of Winthrop; and Kimberly A. Ross and her children Chad, Chelsey and Alexandra, all of Fayette; two great-grandchildren: Lucas and Malcolm; two sisters, Anna K. Robb of Augusta and Marion Williams and her husband Leonard “Bill” Williams of Epping, NH; several nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as her beloved dog, Milo.

Visiting hours are 7-9 PM Friday, Dec. 6th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta, where a funeral service will be held 9 AM Saturday Dec. 7th with Rev. Michael Seavey, pastor of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, One Main St. Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1240 or to the American Lung Association of Maine, 122 State Street, Augusta, Maine 04330.

AUGUSTA

Valmont Doyon – age 68, of Cummings Avenue, died unexpectedly November 14, 2002 at Mid-Coast Hospital, Brunswick. He was born in Augusta, Maine on Dec. 19, 1933 the son of Wilfred Doyon and Cecile (Pepin) Doyon.

Mr. Doyon was a 1952 graduate of Cony High School where he excelled in football and baseball. He later served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Doyon was employed by Bossie Electric for several years. He was previously employed as an industrial oil burner specialist by Thayer Corp. of Auburn.

Valmont was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of the Calumet Club. He also had played for the Augusta Millionaires for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Nelson Doyon and a sister, Connie Rioux.

Valmont was a devoted husband who loved his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lorraine (Pomerleau) Doyon of Augusta; two sons, Maurice Doyon and his wife Jennifer of Augusta, and Michael Doyon and his wife Ann Marie of Biddeford; a daughter, Ann Marie Goodrich and her husband William of Sidney; two granddaughters who Valmont referred to as his little angels, Emily Doyon and Victoria Goodrich; two sisters, Carmen Laliberte and Henriette Bagley and her husband Carlton, all of Augusta; a sister-in-law, Francina Doyon of Augusta; an aunt, Gertrude Lachance and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 PM Sunday, Nov. 17th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta where members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 7:00 PM for a prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, One Kendall Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

WINTHROP

Jacqueline P. Gilbert – age 87, of Horseshoe Rd., and formerly of Parkwood Drive, Augusta, died Thursday, January 9, 2003 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Glenridge Drive after a long illness. She was born in Augusta, Maine on January 18, 1915 a daughter of Wilfred J. and Ludivine M. (Morrissette) Pelletier.

Mrs. Gilbert was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1933.

She had been an accountant for several organizations, one of which was the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program, for many years.

Mrs. Gilbert was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society, St. Agnes Circle Daughters of Isabella, member and former Secretary of Cushnoc Senior Citizens.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, former Augusta mayor Sylvio J. “Turk” Gilbert; three brothers, Forest, Benedict and Leo Pelletier and a sister, Anita Levesque.

Mrs. Gilbert is survived by two daughters; Anne M. Bernau of Boca Raton, FL and Jeanne G. MacFarland and her husband Walter G. of Winthrop; three grandchildren, Christof J. Bernau of Santa Cruz, CA, Michael P. MacFarland of Winthrop and Kelly L. MacFarland of Boston, MA; two great-grandchildren; Morgan & Taite; a brother-in-law, Lucien Levesque of Florida; three sisters-in-law; Lucienne Pelletier, Leona Fortin and Juliette Gilbert, all of Augusta and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday, January 13th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where members of the Ladies of St. Anne Society are asked to meet at 3 PM and where members of the Daughters of Isabella are asked to meet at
7 PM to offer prayer services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Spring burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, 5 Kendall St., Augusta, ME 04330. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

HALLOWELL

Lorraine S. Gingrow – age 75 of Outer Central St. and also of Belleview, FL, died Sunday, November 24, 2002 at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Belleview, FL following a brief illness. She was born in Augusta on March 25, 1927 the daughter of Francis and Anastaise (Michaud) Madore.

Mrs. Gingrow was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1946 and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and of St. Theresa’s Church in Belleview, FL.

She was a homemaker for most of her life, but also worked for the State of Maine – Department of Agriculture for over 20 years and previously worked as a volunteer at Lithgow Library in Augusta and Hubbard Free Library in Hallowell.

Mrs. Gingrow was also a member of the Friends of the Belleview Library in Florida.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Theodore T. Gingrow of Hallowell and Belleview, FL; six daughters, Ann M. Corbett and her husband Jim of West Gardiner, Mary. M. Gingrow-Shaw and her husband Ernie of Augusta, Frances G. Newman and her husband Jeff of Windsor, Susan G. Myers and her husband Dennis of Gainesville, FL, Elizabeth Heath and her husband Michael of Gardiner and Jean A. Cote and her husband Joseph Cote, Jr. of Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hallowell. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., at a later date.

MT. VERNON

Elizabeth J. “Beth” Jorgensen – age 32 of North Rd., died Sunday, December 15, 2002 at her home following a long illness. She was born in Poland, OH on January 6, 1970 a daughter of Stefan and Susan (Black) Mytczynsky.

Mrs. Jorgensen was a graduate of Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA, class of 1988 and of Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO in 1998 where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geological Engineering.

She was a homemaker and mother of twins. She had worked for a time at S.R.K. Consulting in Lakewood, CO.

Mrs. Jorgensen was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.

She was pre-deceased by her maternal grandparents, Edw. J. and Jane Williams.

Mrs. Jorgensen is survived by her husband of 8 years Todd M. Jorgensen of Mt. Vernon; her twin sons, Nicholas and Samuel Jorgensen of Mt. Vernon; her parents, Stefan and Susan (Black) Mytczynsky of Frisco, CO; paternal grandparents, John W. and Nadia Mytczynsky of Bryan, OH; two sisters, Amy Mytczynsky of Frisco, CO and Megan Mytczynsky of Denver, CO; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, December 19th from 6-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Ave., Augusta.

AUGUSTA

Roland H. Lausier – age 79, of Forest Avenue, died November 25, 2002 at Maine Veterans Home after a brief illness. He was born in Augusta, Maine on December 4, 1922 the son of Dominique Lausier and Antonia (Beaulieu) Lausier.

Mr. Lausier attended Augusta schools and served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Prior to his retirement, was employed by the Veterans Administration at Togus for 15 years. He was previously employed by R.P. Hazzard Shoe Company for 40 years.

Mr. Lausier was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the Calumet Club, American Association of Retired Persons, a former member of American Legion Post #2 of Augusta and a former member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks of Augusta.

Mr. Lausier was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also liked vegetable and flower gardening.

His wife, Bernadette (Turmelle) Lausier, preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1999.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Lausier and his wife Ellen of Winthrop and Paul Lausier and his wife Joan of Scarborough; four grandchildren: Kevin, Craig, Dennis and Jared Lausier, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 AM Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery at a later date.
