ST. CLOUD, FL

Hennrietta S. Dawicki – age 78 of Packard Ave., and formerly of Kenneth St., Augusta, ME, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at her home after a long illness. She was born in Chelsea, MA on February 19, 1923 the daughter of Marion and Anna (Latka) Zaremeski.

Mrs. Dawicki was a home maker most of her life, raising 5 children.

In their retirement, she and her husband Frank moved to West Sumner, ME where they lived from 1975 to 1986.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Frank Dawicki in 1996.

Mrs. Dawicki is survived by two sons, Theodore Dawicki of Sumner, ME and Richard Dawicki of Freemont, NH; three daughters, Susan Goodwin of Tewksbury, MA, Kathleen Dawicki of St. Cloud and Francine Dawicki of Saugus, MA; a sister, Laura Sliwinski of Chelsea, MA; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit from 10 AM to Noon on Friday, July 6th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME. Committal services will be held Friday at 1 PM in the Fr. Leonard Leclair Memorial Chapel in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta where burial will take place following the committal.

AUGUSTA

Andra Michelle (Markoff) Greenleaf – age 21 of Albert Ave., passed away Monday, July 9, 2001 at the home of her parents, Pauline and Garry Markoff following her struggle with cancer. Andra was born in Dover, NH on January 30, 1980 the daughter of Garry and Pauline (LeHoullier) Markoff.

Mrs. Greenleaf attended St. Dominic’s High School in Lewiston, ME and Cony High School in Augusta. Upon leaving high school Andra attended Champlain College in Burlington, VT then transferred to the University of Maine in Farmington. After graduation, Andra was to become an elementary school teacher.

Andra will be re-united in heaven with her brother, Brendan, who passed away in October of 1994. Also pre-deceasing her were her maternal grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Raymond LeHoullier of Somersworth, NH and her paternal grandfather, Harry Markoff of Dover, NH.

She shall be survived by her loving husband of 2 years, Jeramie L. Greenleaf of Augusta; an adorable son, Tanner B. Greenleaf of Augusta; her parents, Garry and Pauline (LeHoullier) Markoff of Augusta; paternal grandmother, Shirley L. Markoff of Dover, NH; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and great friends.

Relatives and friends may visit today, Wednesday, July 11th from 5-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will immediately follow in the Greenleaf’s family lot at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manchester, ME.

Andra was very grateful to all those who visited, phoned, wrote and prayed for her during her eighteen month struggle with cancer.

Augusta

Florence Dostie – 73 of 69 Boothby Street and a lifelong resident of Augusta died Tuesday morning at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Augusta October 28, 1927 the daughter of Philippe and Alice Maheux Gilbert.

Mrs. Dostie was a communicant of St Augustine Catholic Church, she had been employed by the State of Maine for several years and was previously employed at Hallowell Shoe Company and E.E. Taylor Shoe Company for many years.

Florence’s greatest joy in life was time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

It gave her great pleasure in putting together scrapbooks of family and friends accomplishments.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard Dostie on June 28, 2000.

Survivors include two daughters: Sharon Pearl of Augusta; Rosemarie Smith and her husband Jeremiah of Monmouth and son-in-law John Pearl of Augusta; a stepdaughter: Tanya Hanson and her husband Ben of South China; two brothers: Joseph Gilbert and his wife Cyrilla and Laurent Gilbert both of Augusta; four grandchildren Richard Pearl Shawn Pearl Joshua Smith and Angelica Pearl also great-grandchildren Kyle, Richard, Alesha and Marie Pearl; also Travis, Chad and Shannon Hanson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may visit Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at Plummer Funeral Home 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 12 noon from St Augustine Catholic Church. Graveside committal will follow at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.

Those who desire, may make donations in her memory to the Maine Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330 or to American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc. 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, Me. – 04011-2194.

AUGUSTA

Leo B. Dube – age 73 of Trueworthy Ave., died Saturday, October 13, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Medical and Regional Office Center at Togus after a long illness. He was born in Drummond, Canada on March 24, 1928 the son of Emile and Bertha (Albert) Dube.

Mr. Dube was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a Prisoner of War during the Korean War while serving in the U.S. Army.

He had been employed by Hudson Pulp and Paper where her worked for 25 years. He also owned and operated Dube’s Garage for 14 years.

Mr. Dube was a member of Abnaki Council # 334 Knights of Columbus, Le Club Calumet since 1949, Cushnoc Senior Citizens, Catholic Order of Foresters and was a life member of D.A.V. Edgar Post #1.

He was pre-deceased by a brother, Romeo Dube and a great-grandchild, Calib L. Dube.

Mr. Dube is survived by his wife of 49 years, Adela “Della” (Page) Dube of Augusta; three sons, Robert R. Dube and his wife Ann of Vassalboro, Paul E. Dube of Wilton Manners, FL and Bertrand L. Dube and his wife Paula of Vassalboro; two daughters, Barbara A. Forbes and her husband Keith of Glenburn and Carol M. Cloutier and her husband Greg of Old Orchard Beach; a brother, Laurent “Larry” Dube of Augusta; a sister, Laurette Zita Bolduc of Lewiston; an uncle, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where officers and members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 7 PM, members of the Disabled American Veterans are asked to meet at 7:15 PM and officers and members of Abnaki Council # 334 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at 7:30 PM to recite prayers for their departed member. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta.

Burial will follow in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, 5 Kendall St., Augusta, ME 04330 or DAV Association, C/O Gary Burns, DAV Office, P.O. Box 3151, Togus, ME 04330.

AUGUSTA

Jeanette H. Walker Fitton – age 69 of Middle Rd., died unexpectedly Thursday, August 16, 2001. She was born on January 16, 1932 in Troy the daughter of Leon A. and Mildred M. (Bragdon) Higgins.

Mrs. Fitton was a graduate of Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield and was a member of the Sidney Baptist Church.

She had been employed by the James Bean Elementary School in Sidney for several years and had preciously worked at Central Maine Power for 25 years.

Mrs. Fitton was a member of the Literacy Volunteers of America.

She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Allie A. Walker and two brothers, Roland and Alton Higgins.

Mrs. Fitton is survived by her husband, Kenneth A. Fitton of Sidney and Coward, SC; a son, Frank E. Walker and his wife Jennifer of Belgrade; a daughter, Mary H. Wierzbicki and her husband John of Lisbon; a brother, Robert Higgins and his wife Frances of Merrimack, NH; two sisters, Marie Graves and her husband Donald and Maxine Ayers all of Sidney; a step-daughter, Linda Woods and her husband Harry Vayo of Oakland; four grandchildren, Nathan Walker, Rebecca and Jeffrey Wierzbicki and Andy Vayo; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 PM on Sunday, August 19th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A graveside service will be held on Monday morning at 11 at Reynolds Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Literacy Volunteers of America, 263 Water St., Augusta, ME 04330.

SIDNEY

Marc R. Fontaine – age 47 of Robinson Rd., died Monday, October 29, 2001 at his home following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 1, 1954 the son of Alberic J. and Julia D. (Patenaude) Fontaine.

Marc was a graduate of Cony High School, attended Northern Maine Technical College and was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

He was the owner of Fontaine’s Plumbing and Heating, Inc. for the past 12 years and had previously worked at Bath Iron Works for 10 years.

Marc was a devoted husband and father. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping and was a supporter of Messalonskee Sports and the University of Maine Black Bear Ice Hockey team.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years Susan M. (Arbour) Fontaine of Sidney; his parents Alberic J. and Julia D. (Patenaude) Fontaine of Augusta; a son, Matthew M. Fontaine of Sidney; a daughter, Nicole M. Fontaine of Sidney; three brothers, Louis Fontaine and his wife Cheryl of Sidney, Charles Fontaine and his wife Sandra of Augusta and Wilfred Fontaine and his wife Elizabeth of Bolton, MA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.

BELGRADE LAKES

Daniel J. Gagne – age 46 of Hulin Rd., died unexpectedly Thursday, October 4, 2001 at MaineGeneral Medical Center – Thayer Unit in Waterville. He was born in Augusta on August 1, 1955 the son of Rosaire and Florence (Labbe) Gagne.

Mr. Gagne attended Augusta schools, was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a U.S Marine veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

He had been employed at Bath Iron Works for 24 years.

Mr. Gagne married his soul mate, Diana Burnett on March 17, 1990.

He was a devoted father and husband. He dreamed of sailing off in a sailboat and loved the time he spent with his children.

Dan enjoyed fly fishing, his hot tub and being kind to his fellow man. He was a firm believer in God the Almighty, was a proud American and found peace in the community of the Belgrade Lakes Region.

Dan was also very proud of the ships he helped to build at Bath Iron Works.

Mr. Gagne was pre-deceased by his parents, Rosaire and Florence (Labbe) Gagne.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years Diana (Burnett) Gagne of Belgrade Lakes; a son, Isaac Daniel Gagne of Belgrade Lakes; two daughters, Katie Faye and Nikki Fantasia Gagne both of Belgrade Lakes; three brothers, Henry R. Gagne and his wife Donna of Warren, Dominique J. Gagne of Hallowell and Donald J. Gagne and his wife Laurie of South China; a sister, Constance E. Gagne of Duncan, SC; and aunt and uncle, Oscar and Jeannine Gagne of Château roux, France; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit on Monday, October 8th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12 noon at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery Old Yard on Civic Center Dr., Augusta.

RANDOLPH, ME

Victor A. Gagne - age 53 of South Maple St. and formerly of Maple Ave. in Andover, MA died unexpectedly September 1, 2001. He was born in Methuen, MA on November 12, 1947 the son of Elphege A. and Donalda D. (Derouin) Gagne.

Mr. Gagne was employed as a truck driver and Transportation Manager at Auto Parts Express in Maine and Massachusetts for over 30 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Sally (Herron) Gagne of Randolph, ME; three sons, David H. Gagne, Scott A. Gagne and Robert Pellegrino, Jr.; two daughters, Michelle Lea Gagne and Jessica Brooks; three grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, September 6th at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, MA.

AUGUSTA

Gerard R. Gagnon – age 79 of Monroe St. died Monday, July 23, 2001 at the Maine Veterans Home peacefully with his family at his side after a long illness. He was born April 28, 1922 in Augusta and is the son of Ludger and Mary (Lagueux) Gagnon.

He attended school in Augusta and was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church.

He was a World War II Veteran of the 79th infantry and was one of many who recently received a Diploma from France on recognition of his involvement in the liberation of France. He also worked at the Civilian Conservation Corps Camps, Bates Mfg. Co. and Statler Tissue Company.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Arlene (Labbe) Gagnon of Augusta; a son, Mark Gagnon and his wife Carla of Augusta; 2 daughters, Jane Gagnon and Jill Edwards and her fiancé Tim Cogswell of Augusta; one granddaughter, Crystal Edwards; four grandsons, Oscar and Zach Gagnon, Jason Edwards and Cody Cogswell; a special friend, Sandra Niles; a sister, Cyrilla Gilbert and her husband Joe of Augusta; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At his request there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 27th in the Chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
