CLARA K. MOORE
DOVER-FOXCROFT - Clara Kinsman Moore, 76, wife of Wayne L. Moore, died Sept. 10, 2003, at a Bangor hospital after a long illness complicated by a severe falling accident in the room in which she was born. She was born at the family homestead on a beautiful fall day, Oct. 10, 1926, to Hazel Warren Kinsman and Gordon Kinsman of Nova Scotia. She attended Dover schools, graduated from Foxcroft Academy, and completed two years at Farmington State Teachers College. She married Wayne Moore on Aug. 30, 1947, and had five children, Vicki (Moore) Moschella of Citrus Heights, Calif., Susan (Moore) Potter of Tracy, Calif., Roger Moore of Carmichal, Calif., Brian Moore of Madison, and Alan Moore of Citrus Heights, Calif. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Scott Martinez of Chico, Calif., Craig Martinez of Littleton, Colo., Colby Moore of Citrus Heights, Calif., Sharon and Brian Moore of Madison, and newborn Tyler Moore of Citrus Heights, Calif. Clara taught school for several years in Hartland and Newport. She had other part time jobs through the years: substitute teaching, proofreading, and working at her son Roger's houseware rental company while living in Citrus Heights, Calif., every winter. She attended the Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church and sang in the choirs in Corinna and Eliot and in East Hartford and Enfield, Conn. She also belonged to several clubs; most recently, the Miosac Federated Woman's Club in Dover-Foxcroft, the Retired Teacher's Group, and was a former member of the Amicus Club in Corinna, Women's Forum in Eliot, United Methodist Women, and the 3M Club of Dover-Foxcroft. Clara enjoyed traveling all her life and she especially loved going to California to visit her children. She was always curious and interested in learning about people and places, and seeing new things. She made many trips with her friend, Ruth Rubin of Springfield, Mass., during the 70's and 80's to Washington D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, Erie, Pa., and Rehobeth Beach, Md. In 1993, for her 50th wedding anniversary, Clara and Wayne traveled to Hawaii, as a gift from their children. One of her greatest joys was singing with her cherished lifelong friends, Faith Holland and Hope Lacourciere. "Faith, Hope, and Clarity" sang in nursing and boarding homes, entertaining people with their beautiful harmonies and singing hymns and songs of the 30's, 40's, and 50's. Recently Kay joined the group, and they changed their name to "The Aging Polka Dots." She played piano in her own style of the 40's, jazz, pop, and current hits. Since retirement, Clara lived in the same house that she and her mother were born in. She recorded the family and historical events and more importantly, wrote in her diary every day since she was nine, when she received her first diary for Christmas from her mother. When anyone wanted information about world or family events, Clara would get her diary and look it up. Clara will be remembered for her great love of life, fun, family and friends.
