Richard N. Poulin

Richard N. Poulin, 48, of Wayne and Boothbay Harbor, died Thursday, July 16 at his summer residence in Boothbay Harbor.
Born September 5, 1949, he was the son of Apollinaire and Annie Mathieu Poulin.
Mr. Poulin graduated from Cony High School in 1968. He owned and operated Tri City Roofing Co. until his battle with multiple sclerosis. Mr. Poulin spent his summers in Boothbay Harbor where he enjoyed boating and fishing and just being on the water.
He was predeceased by his father Apollinaire Poulin.
Survivors include his mother, Annie Poulin of Augusta; two sisters, Joan Newman and Carmen McIver, both of Augusta; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, July 22 at the Simmons & Harrington Funeral Home. Al Roberts officiated.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service, 11 Howard Street, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.

Elmer L. Prescott

Elmer L. Prescott, 77, Whitefield, died March 16 at his home.
Born in Whitefield on March 29, 1921, he was the son of Pearl and Maud Pullen Prescott, and attended Whitefield High School for one year, graduating in 1939 from Cony High School in Augusta.
He served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945, attaining the rank of corporal.
Mr. Prescott worked for the State of Maine at the Civilian Conservation Corps Camps in Jefferson. He retired in 1980, after 35 years with the State of Maine, from the Bureau of Public Improvement.
He was married to Ezelda Patricia Mason in West Gardiner on Dec. 10, 1953.
He enjoyed
hunting, fishing, and boating, and he and his family enjoyed spending summers at Clary Lake in Jefferson at their cottage.
Mr. Prescott was known for his storytelling and was fondly known as "Grampa" by many children in the area. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years; two daughters, Carol Young and Deedee Crocker, both of Whitefield; three sons, Ronald Rollins of Whitefield, Dennis Prescott of Woolwich, and Troy Prescott of South China; four brothers, Edmund Prescott of Farmingdale, Charles Prescott of Rockport, Norman Prescott of Yarmouth, and Pearl Prescott Jr. of Winslow; five sisters, Hazel Dowle of Whitefield, Lizabelle Heath of Pittston, Mable Farrin of Augusta, Arlene Gray of Connecticut, and Jennie Brann of Coopers Mills; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His sister, Mavis Lewis, and two brothers, Eugene Prescott and Percy Prescott, all died previously.
Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thurs., March 18, at Gray & Pratt Funeral Home, Windsor Neck Rd., Windsor. Graveside funeral and committal prayers will be held at a later date at Highland Cemetery, Jefferson, with the Rev. Warner Howard officiating.

Clara M. Pushard

Clara M. Pushard, age 87, of North Edgecomb, died Friday, April 3 in Danbury, Connecticut.
Born in New Rochelle, New York on July 17, 1910, she was the daughter of George and Lillian (Moebus) Eberle.
In 1928 she graduated from New Rochelle High School and was employed as a secretary in New York for many years. In 1947 she moved to North Edgecomb, and married Walter B. "Duke" Pushard on June 15, 1963. For 15 years she worked at the Wiscasset Depositors Trust Company and then worked as a legal secretary for David B. Soule Attorney At Law retiring in 1983.
Mrs. Pushard was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Wiscasset, the Garrison Hill Chapter of the Eastern Star, the Wiscasset Women's Charitable Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Mrs. Pushard was predeceased by her husband on September 27, 1993.
Survivors include her stepdaughter Suzanne McKay of Brewer; one sister, Doris Millar of Brewster, New York; one stepsister, Marjorie Hazzard of Brewster, New York; one niece, Mrs. Paul (Christine) Babon of Brewster, New York.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.., on Sunday, April 19 at Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal Street, Wiscasset with Rev. Dr. Richard H. Hall of St. Philip's Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Wiscasset. Mrs. Judith Lorraine Power

PORTLAND - Judith Lorraine Power, 59, of Oxford, went to be with the Lord on October 27, 1999.
She was a woman of great faith, a woman who loved all God's children.
She was born in South Paris on May 23, 1940 the daughter of Eugene L. and Doris Johnson Rich.
She attended Norway schools. Judy had been a homemaker, she loved cooking, gardening and crafts, but most of all she loved her family and friends.
She was a member of the Food Ministry and the Hosanna Christian Church in Oxford.
She married Greg Power on December 20, 1985.
She is survived by her husband of Oxford, whom she loved so dear to her heart; a daughter, Rhonda Farris of Oxford and a granddaughter, Lorraine Farris of Oxford who was her heart and inspiration; two brothers, Joseph and Eugene Rich, both of Norway.
Funeral Services were held on Sunday, October 31, 1999 at the Hosanna Christian Church in Oxford. Interment was in the Norway Pine Grove cemetery in South Paris.
Arrangements were under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Norway.
Norman W. Payson Sr.

Norman Warren Payson Sr., 71, of Chelsea, died after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.
Born at St. Andrews Hospital on September 6, 1928, he was a son of Warren and Mary Cameron Payson, and graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School, Class of 1948.
Mr. Payson was employed by French's Upholsterers of Augusta for nearly 50 years. For several years, he taught adult ed. upholstery classes at Cony High School in Augusta.
He was predeceased by a son, Brian Payson.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Jeanne Hamilton Payson of Chelsea; five sons, Dale Payson of Honolulu, Hawaii, Robert Payson and wife, Kathy W., of Randolph, Alan Payson of Boynton Beach, Florida, Norman Jr. and daughter, Whitney, and son, Jason of Florida, Andrew Payson and fiancee, Melissa Cloutier, of Augusta; two daughters, Mary Linneken and son, Marek, of Coral Springs, Florida, and Beth Janson and her husband, Norman, and their children, Brian and Lauren of South Portland; two brothers, Neil Payson of West Southport, and Franklin Payson and his wife, Charlene, of York; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at on Friday, January 21 at Randolph United Methodist Church in Randolph.
Arrangements were under the care of Staples Funeral Home in Gardiner.
Peter H. Palen

Peter H. Palen Sr., 79, of Wiscasset, died Sunday, August 13 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
Born in New York City on November 7, 1920, he was the son of Lewis S. and Laura H. (Cooke) Palen. He moved to France as a young boy where he attended schools and graduated there.
During World War II he moved to the United States and attended Stevens Technical College in Hoboken, N.J. In the 1940s and '50s he was employed as a rocket engineer at Reaction Motors. On November 27, 1948, he married Janet G. Tilton. He founded Captive Seal Corporation in Caldwell, N.J.
In 1994 they moved to Wiscasset where he and his wife owned and operated Stitchers' Corner in Wiscasset.
Mr. Palen attended the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset and enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Janet G. Palen of Wiscasset; one son, Peter H. Palen Jr. of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Laura G. Palen of Irvine, Conn., and Pamela Anna Bulmahn of Burlington, Iowa; one sister, Anna Howell Schulz of Geneva, Switzerland; four grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 17 at the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset with the Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wiscasset Ambulance, Municipal Building, Wiscasset, ME 04578, or to Miles Memorial Hospital, RR #2, Box 4500, Damariscotta, ME 04543. Althea C. Pendleton

Althea C. (Cowan) Pendleton, 71, of Wiscasset died Tuesday, May 16 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. She was born October 11, 1927 in Damariscotta, the daughter of George and Agnes (Sproul) Cowan. She graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1945. Mrs. Pendleton worked as a secretary for Alan Pease for 11 years. She loved to cook, paint, do arts and crafts and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Theodore Cowan, Hubert "Tiny" Cowan and George Cowan Jr.; and one sister, Carrie Martin. Survivors include her husband, Frederick Pendleton of Wiscasset; two sons, Stephen Pendleton of Seattle, Wash. and Barry Pendleton of Southport; one daughter, Nicole Walsh of Wiscasset and the Florida Keys; a brother, Walter Cowan of North Hampton, Mass.; two sisters, Leah Morrow of Westfield, Mass. and Lydia Van Varick of Florida; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Those who wish may make donations in Althea's memory to a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine in Belfast.
Clinton W. Pierpont

Clinton Willard Pierpont, 59, of Washington, Maine, died Saturday, September 16 at Maine Medical Center from complications associated with heart disease.
Born in Jefferson, he was a son of Arthur Justus and Elizabeth French Pierpont. He attended high school in Waldoboro, receiving his diploma in California.
Returning to Maine, Mr. Pierpont worked in the woods as a logger and lumberman.
He married Betty Patricia Glidden. For 38 years, they ran the Pierpont Trucking Co.
A fan of stock car racing, he attended races in Canada and was a sponsor at Wiscasset Speedway, where his two nephews, Edwin and Steve Pierpont, were drivers.
Mr. Pierpont attended the South Somerville Baptist Church. He liked to hunt.
He was predeceased by his wife December 20, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Clinton and Willard, both of Washington; two stepsons, Samuel and Kenny Bartlett, both of Whitefield; two daughters, Mrs. Kenny (Terry) Crosby of Jefferson and Mrs. John (Tammy) Rideout of Washington; three sisters, Edith Bragg and Gertrude Hewett, both of Augusta, and Mrs. Loren (Carolyn) St. Peter of Fitchburg, Mass.; a brother, Robert of Pittston; a cousin, Edward Pierpont of Redwood City, Calif., who was raised by Mr. Pierpont's parents from childhood; and several grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, September 20 at Gray and Pratt Funeral Home in Windsor, with the Rev. Warner Howard officiating assisted by Donald Hewett.
Harlan O. Pinkham

Harlan O. Pinkham, 88, of Boothbay, formerly of Five Islands, died Thursday, April 20 at St. Andrews Hospital. born in Five Islands on April 18, 1912, he was the son of Maurice and Millie (Stevens) Pinkham. Mr. Pinkham attended Georgetown schools. He was employed at Bath Iron Works during World War II. For many years he was self-employed as a fisherman, retiring in 1973. He enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Gordon Pinkham of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Gary Pinkham of Boothbay; one sister, Audry Chandler of Bowdoinham; four grandchildren, Bonnie Pinkham, Gary Pinkham II, Kimberly Pinkham and Maggie Pinkham; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Pinkham was predeceased by two brothers, Merton Pinkham on November 5, 1999 and Philip Pinkham; and one sister, Aleada Pinkham in October 1999. A graveside service was held on Monday, April 24 at Mountainside cemetery in Georgetown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fishermen's Memorial, P.O. Box 304, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538. Arrangements were by Mayo, Curtis & Hill Funeral Home in Bath.
Irene "Phyllis" Poole

Irene "Phyllis" Poole
Irene "Phyllis" Poole, 76, of Boothbay, died Sunday, November 26 at St. Andrews Hospital.
Mrs. Poole grew up in Boothbay and attended local schools. She was a homemaker and worked in a box factory in Lynn, Massachusetts, and during the war worked at Sample's Shipyard. She also worked at the Boothbay Freezer in the Harbor, was a waitress at Colby's Restaurant in Wiscasset and picked crabmeat.
Mrs. Poole was a very supportive mother and tended to many people. She loved dancing and movies. Her children and grandchildren were foremost in her life.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Paul D. Poole of Boothbay; two daughters, Kathy S. Frizzell of Alna and Cindy Lewis of Boothbay; four sisters, Priscilla Bryer, Julia Holmes, Jean Cunningham and Judith Owen, all of Boothbay; one brother, George Giles of Boothbay; nine grandchildren, Randy Durgan of East Boothbay, Candy Barter of Wiscasset, and Jeffrey Gray, Jody Durgan, Andrea Hallinan, Corey Frizzell, Justin Frizzell, Amanda Lewis and Brandy Lewis, all of Boothbay; and seven great-grandchildren.
Her daughter, Donna Mae Durgan, predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her brother, Lenwood Giles; her sisters, Pauline Wylie and Leta Bryer; and by a great-granddaughter, Kayla Mae Miller.
Visiting hours were held on Wednesday, November 29, and a funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 30 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home.
