BURCHELL AUGUSTUS RONCO
GUILFORD - Burchell Augustus Ronco, 88, died April 16, 2001 at a Dover-Foxcroft health care facility. He was born in Guilford, Feb. 6, 1913, the son of Augustus and Lula (Hatch) Ronco. He graduated from Guilford High School in 1932. In 1925 he became a charter member of the Guilford Boy Scouts, and received his Eagle award in 1931. He was associated with the Boy Scouts for over 20 years and for most of that time he served as assistant Scout Master. He worked for Guilford Industries in the dressing dept. for 39 years before retiring. He was a member of Good Cheer Lodge No.37 for over 50 years, and was a Past Noble Grand. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by two sons, Bradley of Manchester and Bernard and his wife Linda of Ripley; four grandchildren, Brian and Theresa Ronco, Debra Davis and Rebecca Clark; five great grandchildren, Christopher, Leah, Derek, Megan and Ian; a sister, Fern Robinson; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Veronica in 1992 and a son, Wayne in 1938.

There will be no public visiting hours or funeral services at this time. A graveside committal service will be held later in the spring at the Lawn cemetery in Guilford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Health and Counseling Services, P.O. Box 290, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

CHARLES I. PERIGO
PARKMAN - Charles I. Perigo, 86, died April 16, 2001 at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born March 20, 1915 in Oakfield, son of Ora and Sadie (Cameron) Perigo. He worked for Guilford Industries for 22 years and also worked several years in the woods. Later Charlie served as a Deputy Sheriff for Piscataquis County Sheriff's Department from 1973 until his retirement in 1990. He belonged to Parkman Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn (Downs) Perigo of Parkman; four sons, Dale Perigo and Goldie of Parkman, Larry and his wife Janet Perigo of Parkman, Michael and his wife Phyllis Perigo of Parkman and Stephen and his wife Judy Perigo of Silvers Mills; a daughter, Deborah Perigo of Parkman; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday May 19th at 11AM at the Pingree Center cemetery in Parkman. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal funeral Home, Guilford.

MARION MASON
PLYMOUTH - Marion Mason, 68, died April 16, 2001 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born April 26, 1932 at Gray the daughter of Edgar and Gladys (Morrill) Foster. She graduated from Pennell Institute in Gray. Marion enjoyed gardening and caring for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Carroll Mason of Plymouth; 4 sons, Timothy and wife Cindy Mason of St. Albans, Cary and wife Tina Mason of Tecumseh, OK, Clyde and wife Mary Mason of Plymouth, Kenneth Mason of Wells; 4 daughters, Linda and husband Nelson Fanjoy of Burnham, Gwendolyn and husband Raymond Walker, Susan and husband Alan Cray, Patricia and husband David Rowe, all of Plymouth; 20 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Alta Foster of Gray. She was predeceased by a brother Edgar, Jr., 3 sons, Vayne, Bruce and Brian, and a grand-daughter, Abigail Marion Mason-Rowe.

A family funeral service will be held 11 A. M. Thursday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, with the Rev. Millard Dickinson officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the family lot, Gray Village Cemetery.

MARJORIE S. WARREN
DOVER-FOXCROFT - Marjorie S. Warren, 69, wife of Philip E. Warren, died April 19, 2001, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 8, 1932, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Orman J. and Aizzi (Crockett) Severance. She attended Foxcroft Academy. Mrs. Warren had worked for 10 years at Morton Ave. School in the hot lunch program, and then as a dental assistant for Dr. William Forbes for 23 years. She was a 56 year member of the Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church, former member and past president of the Mocutoc Club. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid golfer.

She is survived by her husband, Phil of Dover-Foxcroft; a son, John and his wife, Lindy Warren of Dover-Foxcroft; a daughter, Lynette and her husband William Rayfield of Goffstown, N.H.; two brothers, Edward Severance, Herbert Severance and his wife, Yolande, all of Dover-Foxcroft; a sister, Pauline Lyford of Dover-Foxcroft; three grandchildren, William and his wife, Audra Rayfield, Leigh-Ayer Rayfield, and Becky Warren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Harriett Macomber; and a brother, Omar Severance.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2001, at the Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roxy Moses officiating. Friends and family are invited to share in a time of remembrance and fellowship after the service in Harter Hall. Following cremation, burial will be in the family lot in Dover Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 62, Dover-Foxcroft 04426. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.

BRUCE R. GOULD
PLYMOUTH - Bruce R. Gould, 68, died April 19, 2001 at his Condon Road residence. He was born March 5, 1933 at Dixmont the son of Raymond and Nellie (Benson) Gould. He graduated from Lee Academy, Class of 1951 and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He had been employed for many years at H. P. Hood Company in Newport And currently was a self-employed fur buyer and trapper. Bruce was an avid sportsman. In addition to trapping he loved to hunt and fish and was able to realize a long held wish To go to Alaska. He was a member of the National Trapper's Association, the Maine Trapper's Association, the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine, the National Rifle Association, and the American Legion. He had been named Maine Trapper of the Year and held a number of awards and certificates for his proficiency and willingness to instruct others in his skills.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Pamela and husband Thomas Meehan of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Patsy and husband Howard Manson of Corinna, and Megan Gould of Corinna; a step-daughter, Wendy Mitchell of Pittsfield; 5 brothers, Richard of Albion, Roger of Winterport, Bryce of Dixmont, Kenneth of Etna, and Keith of Hampden; 6 sisters, Marion Elwell of Vassalboro, Adria Hughes of Hampden, Gladys Staples of East Holden, Selda Maxsimic and Carla LaRoache, both of Orrington and Charleen Hand of Bangor; 7 grandchildren, Travis, Timothy and Melanie Meehan, Allison and Hillary Manson, Lindsey and Joshua Mitchell. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lorita (Stilwell) Gould, and a step-son Larry Mitchell. He will also be remembered by Regina Jordan, and many other special friends.

Family and friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Sunday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 10 A. M. Monday, April 23rd, with the Rev. David Ray officiating. Burial will be in the Sawyer Cemetery, Plymouth, later in the spring. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine, 87 Elm Street; Suite 206, Camden, ME 04843.

GRACE N. TEDFORD
NEWPORT & CORINNA - Grace N. Tedford, 92, passed away April 20, 2001 at a Dexter health care facility. She was born March 8, 1909 at Plantation 21 (Washington County) Maine, the daughter of Chester and Maud (Polk) Jamison. On March 1, 1930, she married the Rev. Willis E. Tedford, who predeceased her November 17, 1985. Grace never worked outside of the home other than assisting her husband, who pastored churches in Maine and New York State. She was a member of the Exeter Full Gospel Church.

Grace is survived by 2 daughters, Betty and husband Lewis Matteson of Corinna, Gloria and husband, the Rev. Jerry Scott of Plaistow, NH; 2 grand-daughters, Wanda Dearborn of Exeter, and Michele Ross of Whitesboro, NY; 1 grandson, Mark Scott of Hillsdale, NJ; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Winifred Dorr of Woodland; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6-9 P.M. Monday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Tuesday, April 24th, at Exeter Full Gospel Church with the Rev. Chris Faloon officiating. Burial will be in Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna, later in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Exeter Full Gospel Church, P.O. Box 24, Exeter, ME 04435.

DOROTHY BECKFORD STONE
NEWPORT Dorothy Beckford Stone, 95, died April 21, 2001 at a Skowhegan health care facility. She was born March 8, 1906 at Malden, Mass. the daughter of George H. and Grace R. (Tucker) Ayer. She graduated from Woburn High School, attended Massachusetts College of Art and later graduated from Choate School of Nursing in Woburn, Mass. She and her late husband Malcolm M. Stone, Sr. resided in Lynnfield, Mass. for many years where she was active in many local civic and charitable organizations including the American Red Cross, the Visi-ting Nurses Association, Women of Lynn Rotary, The League of Women Voters, and the Daughters of The American Revolution. She was a member of the South Lynnfield Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Dorothy enjoyed traveling And accompanied her brother, the Boston artist, Ralph D. Ayer on many of his extensive painting trips throughout his career. After retiring, Dorothy and Malcolm enjoyed many winters in Homestead, Florida where they especially enjoyed attending The weekly Maine Day Picnics with other Newport friends. In 1984 they moved to Palermo, Maine and later, she moved to Newport to be close to her family. Dorothy was a member of the High Street Congregational Church in Newport, and was active in theNewport Women's Club and the Friends of the Newport Public Library. Dorothy enjoyed doing many arts and crafts, including painting, design work on trays, plates And chairs, and making rugs. She spent the last eight winters in Fort Myers with her Son Dick and daughter-in-law, Lorraine. She remained active there and was a familiar sight zipping around the park on her "electric buggy." Dorothy always enjoyed music, Taking piano lessons when she was over ninety, and continuing until last year.

She is Survived by 2 sons, Malcolm M. Stone, Jr. of Cocoa, Florida, and Richard B. Stone of Newport; grandsons, Malcolm M. Stone III of Duxbury, MA, Keith Stone of Somerville, MA, Kenneth Stone, his wife Debbie, and their daughters, Abigail and Katie, all of Newport; grand-daughter, Dorothy-Anne Simoneau and children Danielle and Nathan, All of Rochester, NH; and a favorite cousin and lifelong friend, Cora Munsey of Canaan, NH. She was predeceased by her husband Malcolm M. Stone, Sr. in 1989, and by her Brother Ralph D. Ayer in 1986.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday, April 25th, at High Street Congregational Church, Newport, with the Rev. Dr. Henry Wyman officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1 P.M. until the time of services. Interment will be in the family lot, Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem, MA. Memorial donations may be made to High Street Church, 18 High Street, Newport, ME 04953. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Newport.

ROGER T. CRAIG
ASHLAND - T. Roger Craig, 84, beloved husband of the late Mildred (Munson) Craig, died April 23, 2001, at a Presque Isle hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Masardis, Jan. 6, 1917, the son of Harvey and Fannie (Rockwell) Craig. He was employed by the Prue Oil Company of Ashland and for Sears Service Dept. for several years. He then established his own business, Craig's Burner Service which he operated until his retirement in 1995. He served as fire chief for the Ashland Fire Department and was instrumental in establishing the Ashland Ambulance Service. He enjoyed many hours at his camp on the Machias River with his family and hunting with his special grandson, Jody.

Roger is survived by one son, Merle E. Craig Sr., and his wife, Karan of Ashland; one daughter, Catherine Calixto and her husband, Al of Richland, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Tammy Simpson of Hartford, Conn.; Merle E. "Jody" Craig Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Masardis, Tim Craig of South Berwick, Wendy Dufour of Caribou, Maria Sargent and husband, Zane, and Traci Calixto, all of Washington; Christopher Calixto of North Carolina; five great-grandchildren: Roger W., Amanda, Sean, K.C., and Derrick; one sister, Dorothy Robinson and husband, Vernon of Masardis; two brothers, Gerald Craig and his wife, Pauline, Vernon Craig and his wife, Ernestine, all of Masardis; one sister-in-law, Lillian Craig of East Corinth; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Munson and wife, Sally of Penn.; Philip Munson of Lewiston; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife in 1999.

There will be no services at this time. Family and friends who wish are invited to call at the family residence, 57 School St., Ashland, at their convenience from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, April 27. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Masardis/Oxbow Snowmobile Club would be appreciated. A graveside committal service will be announced and held at the Ashland Municipal cemetery later this spring. Arrangements are a service of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland.

SYBIL W. LEONARD
LEWISTON & DEXTER - Sybil W. Leonard, 76, of 1015 Sabattus Street, Lewiston, formerly of Dexter, died Friday, April 27, 2001 at her home following a long illness. She was born July 8, 1924 at Dexter. Educated in Dexter schools and the Northern Conservatory of Music in Bangor, music was Sybil’s life. She served as director of music at the Hermon Schools from 1965 until 1975. After retiring, she was involved with several community Bands, private teaching, and active in church groups in both Dexter and Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Sybil Hatch of Dexter, 2 husbands, the Rev. Andrew C. K. Richards and Lawrence A. Leonard, and a son, Andrew David Richards. She is survived by 3 daughters, Sybil Gutman and her partner Cliff Gwenter of Butler, NJ, Andrea Sargent and husband Guy of Dexter, Lynn Wakefield and her husband Chris of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Lori Mulvaney of Butler, NJ, Aaron Sargent and his fiancé Kristi Kellison, stationed at the North Pole, Alaska, and Andrew Sargent of Dexter; 2 step-children, Carolyn Edgecomb and husband Steven, William Leonard and wife Cindy; five step-grandchildren, Steven Edgecomb, Jr., and wife Julie, Paula Cote and husband Lance, Paul Leonard and wife Demi, Michael Leonard and David Leonard; 2 step great-grandchildren, Jacob Cote and Alexis Leonard; a step-nephew, James Leonard and wife Lorraine of Hampden; and a dear longtime friend, Glenna Rush.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, April 30th, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter, where friends may call from 1 PM until the time of services. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hermon. Memorial donations may be made to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Foundation, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04243; or the American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

IRL L. MCKUSICK
CORINNA - Irl L. McKusick, 90, died May 3, 2001 at a Dexter health care facility. He was born in Dexter, March 31, 1911, son of Albert and Ethel (Lawrence) McKusick. Irl worked many years as a weaver at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna and Amos Abbott Woolen Mill in Dexter. He also worked as a farmer raising sheep and worked in the woods. He was a good neighbor and enjoyed helping the neighborhood. He attended the First Baptist Church in Dexter for many years.

He was survived by three sons, Ronald McKusick of Corinna, Millard and his wife Karen McKusick of Mass., and Steven McKusick of Corinna; four daughters, Beatrice Violette of Dover-Foxcroft, Kay and her husband Ronald Gray and Kathy and her husband Gary Robinson all of Corinna, Kerry and her husband Dennis Cote of Mass., 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence (Schillinger) McKusick, a son Stanley and a daughter Janice.

Friends may call 6-8 PM Sunday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday May 7th at the First Baptist Church on the corner of Free St. and Main St. in Dexter, with Rev. Jay Brennan officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Dexter. Those who may make donations in his memory to, the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 573, Dexter, ME 04930.

GRACE F. MERRILL
STETSON - Grace F. Merrill, 66, died May 3, 2001 after a short illness. She was born July 17, 1934 at Stetson the daughter of Everett and Elva (Daniels) Dempsey. She was a graduate of Corinna Union Academy. Grace was employed at Dexter Shoe Company in Dexter and Newport for 21 years. She was predeceased by her husband, William P. Merrill, Sr. in 1973.

She is survived by her son, William P. Merrill, Jr. of Stetson; 3 daughters, Barbara Fricks and Esther Christianson, both of California, and Marilyn Page of Stetson; 2 sisters, Evelyn Gray of Dixmont and Laura Holton of Limestone; 6 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3 P.M. Wednesday, May 9th, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, with the Rev. Gertrude Stone officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 3 P.M at the funeral home. Burial will be in the family lot, Clark's Hill Cemetery, Stetson. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME 04011. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

MYRTLE C. WENTWORTH
DEXTER - Myrtle C. Wentworth, 80, died May 4, 2001 at an Orono health care facility. She was born Feb. 13, 1921 at Dover-Foxcroft the daughter of James and Mildred (Gray) Finley. She was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy. Myrtle was a member of the Rebekahs, the Eastern Star, the Daughters of The American Revolution, and the Mayflower Society, and enjoyed researching the family genealogy. She was a devoted and compassionate helpmate to her husband of 59 years, Galen I. Wentworth, who predeceased her February 9, 1999.

She is survived by a son Grayson of Hermon; a daughter Sandra of Dexter; one brother Roland of Dover-Foxcroft; 2 sisters, Nathalie of Farmington and Dolly of North Carolina; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Shannon, Christopher, Sean and Joshua; 3 great grandchildren, Patrick, Dustin, and Mark.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, May 6th, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter, with Pastor A. Maurice Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.

ARLIN L. THACKERY
WILLIMANTIC, Arlin L. Thackery, 68, died unexpectedly May 6, 2001 at his home in Willimantic. He was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Jackson Township, Ohio, son of Hobert and Anna (Davis) Thackery. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and then worked all his life as a mechanic. He was a member of the Willimantic Community Chapel. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pearl (Watkins) Thackery of Willimantic; five daughters, Robin Rattigan of Bangor, Sarah and her husband, James Sill of Parkman, Joyce Burton of Willimantic, Patricia and her husband Alex Preble and Kathy and her husband Jared Panciera of Abbot; a son and his wife, James and Mary Thackery of Sangerville; a sister and her husband, Eileen and James Marchal; and two brothers, Richard Thackery and Ivan Thackery and his wife Linda all of St. Paris, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wed., May 9, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Lloyd Rozelle officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside cemetery in Willimantic.

ESTHER P. DENNY
ST. ALBANS - Esther P. Denny, 39, died unexpectedly May 6, 2001 at her residence. She was born October 3, 1961 at Providence, RI the daughter of James and Gertrude (Meakin) Tucker. She had been employed at Dunkin Donuts in Newport.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Richard E. Denny, Jr., also of St. Albans; 2 daughters, Jacqueline Pelland of Corinna, and Nicole Denny of St. Albans; a brother Charles Flood of Hartland; 2 sisters, Priscilla Denham and Lillian Hussey, both of Pittsfield; as well as several other brothers and sisters residing out of state. The family would like to thank her friends at N.O.E for their assistance.
