She was born November 22, 1932, in Albany, the loving daughter of Clarence and Arline Lafoy, nee Littlehale. Most of her early life was spent in the Paris area, with the majority of her elementary schooling taking place at the little red schoolhouse in Hungry Hollow, an experience that provided her with many happy memories throughout her life. She then attended Union Springs Academy in Union Springs, NY, where she graduated in 1950. She married David L. Dunham on September 27, 1953, and they were married 41 years until his passing in June of 1994. After getting married, she successfully completed her nursing boards and became an LPN. She worked for over 30 years as a nurse - touching the lives of thousands of patients - primarily at Stephens Memorial Hospital and Ledgeview Nursing Home. She was a long-time member of the Woodstock Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she served as a church elder, church clerk, various other appointed positions, and was the church organist for approximately 30 years.
Mrs. Dunham will be remembered as a woman of many talents and interests, which she used to bless the lives of all who knew her. She was a wonderful cook, and for years had a fudge route in the Oxford Hills area. She loved to send cards of encouragement to people when she knew they were hurting. She was an artist and a lover of art. She was not only an organist and pianist, but also thoroughly enjoyed going to concerts in Portland - particularly organ concerts! She had a special place in her heart for all animals, but her favorites were cats, which were definitely treated as part of the family. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and rejoiced with the rest of the Red Sox nation in the events of October 2004. The one thing that she loved the most, however, besides her family and God, was the ocean. She would indulge this passion at every opportunity, and was at her happiest on a boat when the seas were rough and it was raining!
She is preceded in death by her husband, David L. Dunham and her sister, Verda Lafoy. Mrs. Dunham is survived by her three loving children, Stephen and Karen of South Paris, and Thomas (Patricia) of Hinsdale, IL.
