Mr. Perley R. Ellingwood

WEST PARIS - Perley R. Ellingwood, 94, of West Paris, formerly of Dixfield, died Sunday evening, October 24, at the Ledgeview Nursing Home, where he had been aresident for just over a year.
Mr. Ellingwood was born in Paris, the son of the late Joseph and Isie Belle (Robbins) Ellingwood, but attended Buckfield and Hebron schools.
He married the former Letty Proctor, December 24, 1932; she predeceased him on October 16, 1993.
A millwright by vocation Mr. Ellingwood had been associated with J. H. Ellingwood, of North Paris, Penley's of West Paris, and was a part-time, self employed electrician, but for the greater portion of his career he was employed by Stowell-McGregor, of Dixfield, where he had maintained his home since 1942, until residing at Ledgeview.
He is survived by a son, Alan Ellingwood, of Winthrop; five sisters, Doris Maxim, of South Paris, Evelyn Chamberlain, Susan Abbott, Beryl Oja, all of North Paris, and Ina Grover, of Mason Township; two brothers, Irwin Ellingwood, of North Paris, and Howard Ellingwood of West Paris, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter LeeAnne Ellingwood.
Memorial services were held at the North Paris Federated Church, Saturday, October 30.
Interment was in the Wayside Cemetery, West Paris.

John J. Ellsworth

John J. Ellsworth, Jr., age 68, died Thursday, October 29, 1998 at Maine Medical Center in Portland from complications after heart surgery.
He was born in Boston, Mass., on May 14, 1930, the son of John J. and Anna I. (MacEachern) Ellsworth. He graduated from Newton, Massachusetts High School in 1949 and attended Hebron Academy, graduating from the University of Maine at Orono with a bachelors degree in economics. At the University he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Mr. Ellsworth joined the United States Army in 1954 and was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia and at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri.
On August 25, 1956 he married Alice Perry and worked in middle management for Norton Company in Worcester, Massachusetts for fifteen years, retiring in 1977. He moved to Wiscasset after his retirement and was active in politics at many levels.
Mr. Ellsworth enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid reader, especially of history, and enjoyed traveling, politics and collecting old clocks.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Alice of Wiscasset; one son, John J. Ellsworth III and his wife Stella G. of Westport Island; one brother, Donald U. Ellsworth of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Anne B. Lumbert of Windsor, Conn., Joan C. Ellsworth of Sarasota, Fla., and Jane E. Frye of Boston, Mass.; three grandchildren, Tracy L. Ellsworth, Ashley L. Ellsworth and John J. Ellsworth IV, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, November 7, at the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset, with Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. Arrangements are by Mayo and Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal Street, Wiscasset.
Mr. Leon L. Emery

LEWISTON -Leon L. Emery, 72, of Poland died Monday, July 12, at d'Youville Pavillion.
He was born in Mechanic Falls, October 3, 1926, the son of Carl and Olive Swallow Emery.
He attended school in Mechanic Falls and worked at Lewiston welding for 22 years and then at Harry E. Nason for 18 years.
Mr. Emery was a life member of Floyd A. Harlow VFW Post 9787 in South Paris,American Legion Post 150 and Sampson World War II Navy veterans.
He enjoyed fishing,
hunting, gardening and spending time with his family.
He faithfully served his country in the Navy during World War II.
On May 11,1946 he married Wilma Keene.
Survivors include his wife of Poland; three daughters, Jacqueline and her husband Michael Cooke III of Terryville,CT, Carol Fleury of Readfield and Joan McCallum of Kingwood,TX; six grandchildren, Michael IV, Brett and Heather Cooke of Terryville,CT, David and Shawn Fleury of Readfield and Jennifer McCallum of Kingwood, TX, one great grandson, Kevin Cooke of Terryville; three brothers Elwin Emery of South Burlington, VT, Erland Penley of Skowhegan and Donal Emery of Mechanic Falls; two sisters, Ada Sawyer of Mechanic Falls and Flora Popham of Ackworth,GA.
Mr.Emery was predeceased by three sisters, Mildred Merrill, Evelyn Eaton and Pauline Foss; three brothers John, Norman and Kenneth Emery.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July15 at the Poland Community Church. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, West Poland.

Sylvia R. Eugley

Sylvia R. Eugley, 84, of Bristol, died at her home Friday morning, April 10 in the presence of her family.
She was born in Bristol, one of 12 children of Parker and Maude Robinson Rice, and attended local schools.
On October 17, 1931, she married Tilson Eugley.
From the time of her marriage until her death, Mrs. Eugley remained at her family home, caring for her husband and three daughters. For several years she cleaned homes in the area.
Mrs. Eugley was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, and enjoyed sewing, spending time outdoors and a good practical joke, her family said.
Surviving are her husband of Bristol; three daughters, Evelyn Winslow of Kittery, Jane Longe of Walpole and Jean Chase of Bristol; three sisters, Edith Gamage of Damariscotta, Louise Burnham of East Boothbay and Amy Poole of Edgecomb; six brothers, Carol and William, both of Damariscotta, Mervin of Walpole, Walter of Bristol, Merrill of Pemaquid and Wilder Rice of Nobleboro; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grand-children.
Visiting hours were Monday, April 13 at Strong Funeral Home, Route 1, Damariscotta, where a service to celebrate Mrs. Eugley's life followed at 10 a.m. Rick Newell officiated. Burial was in Bristol Mills Cemetery.
Catherine B. Everett

NORWAY - Catherine B. Everett, 77, died Saturday, March 21, at her residence following a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in South Paris on August 2, 1920, the daughter of Leo R. and Emmaline L. Marston.
She attended Paris schools. For many years she was a resident of Auburn where she worked at the Wood & Smith Shoe Shop.
She moved to Norway 37 years ago. Until several months ago, Mrs. Everett worked full time for C.B. Cummings in the pin room where she was employed for ozver 21 years. Her job was important to her, as were the many friends she made over the years. In earlier years, "Katie" attended the Methodist Church of Norway. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Auburn and the Rebecca Lodge of Norway. The things she enjoyed most besides her family and the many family gatherings were the love of flowers, music and being near the ocean.
She is survived by two sisters, Mildred Herrick of Norway and Dorothea Tyler of New York; two brothers, Edgar Marston of Peru and Lewis Batchelder of Strong; two daughters, Roberta F. Everett McColl of New York and Judy A. Edwards St. Germain of Auburn; four sons, Terry N. Edwards of Harrison, Jerry P. Edwards of Virginia, Stanley K. Edwards of Washington, and Richard C. Edwards of Auburn; 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by former husbands, Kenneth C. Edwards of Auburn and Robert E. Everett of Norway; two sisters, Olive St. Onge of California and Jenny Mae Chamberlain; two brothers, Earl Marston of New Gloucester and Moses Bachelder, Jr., of Kingfield.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 26 at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 230 Main St., Norway. Interment will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn. Donations in Mrs. Everett's memory may be sent to either the American Cancer Society, Box 456, Brunswick, ME 04011 or to Androscoggin Home Health Lewiston, ME.
Mrs. Doris Jenner Everett

BRIDGTON - Doris Jenner Everett, 83, of Hillside Terrace, South Paris, died at Northern Cumberland Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 2, 2000.
She was born in Dedham, MA on September 26, 1916, the daughter of Arthur E. and H.M.H. Jenner.
She was educated in Dedham schools and Chandler Secretarial School.
In January, 1937, she married Dana W. Everett of Norwood, MA. They resided in Dedham, New Sharon, Farmington and Casco. After his death, she resided in South Paris and Oxford.
Mrs. Everett worked many years at Forster Manufacturing Company, as a secretary. She was a lifelong 4-H leader, member of Philathea and volunteer at Ledgeview Living Center.
She is survived by one son, Richard, of Nine Mills Falls, WA; three daughters, Mrs. Dwight (Barbara) Starbird, Mrs. Donald (Marjorie) Forbes and Mrs. Lee (Lyn) Wilson of Milford, NH; one sister, Mrs. Walter (Meg) Vanderwal, 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one step great granddaughter and one step great-great granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Zelmon (Dorothy) Fuller; three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Frances) Gray, Madeline Jenner and Mrs. Alexander (Winifred) Veitch and three brothers, Arthur E. Jenner, James and John Jenner.
She loved the outdoors, growing vegetables and flowers, writing and painting. Serving and helping others gave her much pleasure.
A private service will be held at a later date. Arrangments are by Hall Funeral Home, Casco.
Leslie D. Edwards
Leslie D. Edwards, 59, of Boothbay, died November 24 at her home after a courageous nine and one half year battle with cancer.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Quincy, Massachusetts and grew up in Natick, graduating in Natick High School's Class of 1959. She continued her education at Dean Junior College in Franklin, Massachusetts graduating in 1961. She had been employed at Beachers Hallmark in the Natick Shopping Center.
She was a long-time summer resident of Squirrel Island and worked as a sales person at Mung Bean in Boothbay Harbor. In 1987 she moved from Natick to Boothbay.
Mrs. Edwards was very active in the Boothbay Civic Association. She loved her cats, dogs, puzzles, plants, gardening and antiqing.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Ross Edwards of Boothbay; her parents Franklin and Natalie Davis of Boothbay Harbor; three sons, Arthur R. Edwards of Foxboro, Mass., Scott D. Edwards of Ayer, Mass., Steven R. Edwards, Boothbay; one granddaughter, Melissa Edwards of Brownfield, Maine; and her mother-in-law, Connie Edwards of Boothbay Harbor.
In memory of Mrs. Edwards' life, there will be a gathering held on December 2 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Edwards' family home at 520 River Road, Boothbay. Interment will be in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Theresa L. Emerald
Theresa L. (Bourget) Emerald, 98, of Middleboro, Mass., died Friday, October 20 at the Sippican Health Care Center in Marion, Mass.
She was born in Boothbay Harbor, the daughter of John and Lillian (Swett) Bourget and attended local schools.
Mrs. Emerald lived in Brockton, Mass. for 25 years before moving to Middleboro in 1973. She and her husband, John, used to winter in Florida for many years before his death.
She worked for the Alden Shoe Company in Brockton for many years.
She was a past member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Brockton and was a member of the Mullein Hill Baptist Church in Lakeville, Mass.
Mrs. Emerald enjoyed reading, puzzles, crafts, crocheting, cooking and baking.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Barbara) Blette of Middleboro, Mass.; one sister, Mildred Pinkham of Dresden; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, John F. Emerald and Lawrence M. Emerald.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, October 24 at the Mullein Hill Baptist Church, Lakeville, Mass. Interment followed at Coweeset cemetery in Brockton.
Arrangements are by the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, Lakeville, Mass.
