Elizabeth W. Sullivan
Elizabeth W. Sullivan, 81, of Concord, N.H., died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Concord Hospital.
She was born June 27, 1921, in Winthrop, Mass., the daughter of William and Augusta Walsh.
She was a graduate of Arlington High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. She was an avid reader and an artist.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lawrence Sullivan of Concord; a son Lawrence Sullivan, Jr. of Warner; four daughters, Elizabeth Mancuso of York Beach, Eileen Sullivan of York, Kathleen Miller of Lochmere, N.H., and Patricia Turner of Concord, N.H.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be private at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery.

Steven C. Hudgins
Steven was a lifelong resident of Andover, Mass., more recently he resided in York. He died suddenly at his winter home in Palmetto, Fla., Jan. 20, 2003.
Mr. Hudgins was educated in Andover schools and worked for many years in McDonald’s and more recently at the Stage Neck Inn in York.
Steven was an active participant in the Social Club at Fidelity House in Lawrence, Mass. He was an avid bowler and loved the beach and Nubble Lighthouse.
Members of his family include Richard and Sally (McCullom) Hudgins, formerly of Andover, now of York; a brother, Jeffrey Hudgins and his wife, Karen of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Leslie and her husband Michael McCarty of West Chester, Pa., and Deborah and her husband, Craig Rahn of Hampton, N.H.; nephews Ryan Hudgins, Cody Rahn and Jake Rahn; one niece, Kara Hudgins, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A memorial service was held at South Church in Andover.

Thelma G. Lewis
Thelma G. Lewis, 80, of Eagle Drive, Rochester, N.H., formerly of South Berwick, died April 24, 2003, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.
Thelma was born in Rollinsford, N.H., July 3, 1922, the daughter of Everett F. and Edna M. (Blaisdell) Tozier. She was the widow of Matthew J. Lewis, who died in 1955.
Thelma was a lady who lived a Christian life by volunteering her time and love, especially in her "cookie ministry" providing baked goods, and soups to shut-ins.
A graduate of Dover High School, Class of 1940, she attended the Domestic School of Science in Boston, majoring in Dietary Science. She had worked in Pearl Harbor during World War II as a motor vehicle operator.
Members of the family include her sons, Matthew J. Skip Lewis Jr. of North Berwick and Keith Lewis of Kennebunkport; a daughter, Brenda Lewis of Rochester; her siblings, Burton C. Tozier of Rollinsford and his twin, Beulah N. Miller of Fremont, N.H.; five grandchildren; and, 17 great-grandchildren. Thelma was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Tozier.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 28 at the Bethal Christian Church, North Berwick, with the Rev. Peter McCarn, assistant pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the family lot in New Town Cemetry, Rollinsford. Arrangements are under the direction of the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 Main St., South Berwick.

Robert King Moran
Robert (Cannonball) King Moran, of York, found relief and rest on April 26, 2003. He was born in Winchester, Mass., on Aug. 28, 1922, to Rita King Moran and Fabian Moran.
In his very early years he summered in Cape Neddick with his grandparents, Charles Henry and Mary King, he then came to Maine to spend the rest of his life on and with the sea and land. He was an avid reader, self-taught, and loved the birds who fly above the waves and the creatures who live beneath and the people who shared the same.
He single-handedly delivered 700 pounds of lobsters to the dock many days. He fished in the wooden lobster boats that he built with his own hands, sailed on fishing trawlers from York Harbor to Frenchmen’s and Penobscot Bay. He was a doctor of boats and there was no job too large or too small that he couldn’t handle, fix and repair. In his later years he carved sea birds and built models of the fishing trawlers and the boats that gave him life.
He will be missed by his cousins in Cape Neddick, and is survived by a sister, Jean Tompkins, of New York.
His wishes were to be returned to the sea. There will be a Masonic service for him at the First Parish cemetery at the Adams, Ruppert and Hutchins plot in York at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 1. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to the Saint Aspinquid Masonic Lodge 198, P.O. 408, York, ME 03909-0408, to help distressed seniors. John S. "Moe" Moser
John S. "Moe" Moser, 63, of Western Point in York died Sunday, April 27, 2003, surrounded by his family.
John was a proud Marine, loving husband and father, and caring grandfather. His life was fulfilled through joy and humor and he brought that same joy to all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ester Sue Moser of York; his mother-in-law, Isabel A. Raynes of York; his parents, Paul and Marion, and two brothers, Paul and Wally of Philadelphia.
He is survived by his children: Sue and Greg Cass of Alfred, John and Karen Moser of Coal City, Ill., Joseph Moser of York,, Randy and Julie Moser of Barrington, N.H., and 10 grandchildren, Jason, Mitchell, Spencer, and Corbin Cass; Andrew, Christopher, Matthew, and Madison Moser, and Zachary and Miriah Moser.

Frederic Russell Nourse III
Frederic Russell Nourse III, 67, of Sugar Grove, N.C., died Monday morning, April 21, 2003, at home.
He was born Feb. 9, 1936, in New York City, to the late Frederic Russell Nourse Jr. and Margaret Dunn Nourse Ross.
Mr. Nourse was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He formerly worked in real estate in Maine, New Hampshire, Florida and North Carolina, after which he owned and operated his own real estate appraisal firm. He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Valle Crucis, N.C.
Survivors include his former wife, Renee Rand, of Sugar Grove; one son, Frederic Russell Nourse IV and his wife, Terry; two sisters, Martha Nourse Reynolds and Nancy Ross Carroll, all of Ocala, Fla.; one stepson, Richard Rand III and his wife, Debbie, of Atlanta, Ga.; three stepdaughters, Whitney Rand Franz; Courtney Rand James and her husband, Dr. Luke James, and Christina Rand, all of Durham, N.C.; three step-grandchildren, Richard Rand IV of Atlanta, Manfred and Sebastian Franz, both of Durham; a cousin, Denise Powers and her daughter, Jessica Donavan, both of York.
He was preceded in death by a brother, George Dunn Nourse.

Susan (Fleming) Ferreira
Susan (Fleming) Ferreira, 44, of Taunton, Mass., died April 27, 2003, at her residence, after an illness.
Mrs. Ferreira was born in Providence, R.I., to Edward Fleming and Barbara (Beecher) Brown. She attended C-C high School and was a graduate of LPN School of Nursing Southeastern Technical, South Easton, Mass. She worked as a nurse at Pediatric Services of America in Brockton, Mass., and previously at Paul A. Denver State School for 23 years, retiring February 2002.
She attended the Annunciation of the Lord (Sacred Heart).
Survivors include her husband, Robert Rivers of York Beach; her mother, Barbara Brown of Swansea, Mass.; one daughter, Jessica Ferreira of Taunton, Mass.; two sons, Steven Ferreira and his wife, Nicole, and Jason Ferreira and his wife, Diana, all of Taunton; her former husband, John Ferreira of York Beach; three sisters, Deborah Gilbert of Seekonk, Mass., Karen Fleming and Linda St. Pierre, both of Taunton; two brothers, Kevin Fleming of Chelmsford, Mass., and Eric Fleming of Raynham, Mass., and the late Brian Fleming; two grandchildren, Raegan and Jason Ferreira of Taunton, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Thursday in Annunciation of the Lord Church (Sacred Heart) with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
John S. Groves
John S. Groves, 81, of Spring Hill, Fla., died Monday, April 28, 2003, at Kindred Hospital Central, Tampa, Fla.
He was born in Nashua, N.H., and moved to Florida 23 years ago from York Beach.
He was Protestant by faith and attended St. Anselm and Boston University.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked for the State of New Hampshire Education Department.
He was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club in Hudson, N.H., a member of Odd Fellows Lodge in Nashua, the American Legion Club in York, and the N.H. Club of Spring Hill. He enjoyed working around the house.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Phyllis Groves of Spring Hill; three sons, John Groves of Dunedin, Fla. and York Beach, Richard S. Groves of Rye, N.H., and Steven P. Groves of York Beach; a daughter, JoAnn Daniels of Kittery; a brother, Stuart Groves of Spring Hill; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be conducted at a later date. Contributions can be made to the Hudson Kiwanis Club.

Ethel I. Pelletier
Ethel I. Pelletier, 64, of 14 Creation Lane, York, died Monday, May 5, 2003, at York Hospital.
She was born June 29, 1938, in South Berwick, the daughter of Eldred and Mildred (Snow) Vreeland and resided in South Berwick and York all of her life.
She attended Central School from 1943 to 1952 and went on to graduate from Berwick Academy in 1956. She attended New Hampshire Vocational Technical College.
Mrs. Pelletier had worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years.
Her favorite pastime was quilting, where she made many friends. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, working in her garden and especially enjoyed her family.
She was a member of the York Street Baptist Church.
Members of her family include her husband of 46 years, Lloyd C. Pelletier of York; two daughters, Belinda Pelletier of Kingston, N.H., and Brenda Boyle and her husband, Mike, of Gonic, N.H.; two sons, Bruce Pelletier of Rochester, N.H. and Brian Pelletier and his wife, Jill, of Berwick; six grandchildren, Ryan Hilton, Brandon Pelletier, Darrell Hilton, Adam Marston, Renee Pelletier, and Katie Pelletier, and two cousins, Peggy Roberts of Massachusetts and Scott Vreeland of Sanford.
A graveside service was held Thursday at Pleasant Hill cemetery in South Berwick, with Rev. Valmore Vigue, pastor of York Street Baptist Church, officiating.

Gertrude Isabelle Perkins Quint
Gertrude Isabelle Perkins Quint, 93, died Sunday, April 26, 2003, in Belton, Texas.
She was born in Feb. 24, 1910, in Ogunquit, the daughter of E. Dana and Annie (Johnson) Perkins. She graduated from Wells High School, Wells, and attended the New England Conservatory for two years.
She was accomplished both in voice and piano, which she later taught.
Before moving to Texas in 1955, she lived many years both in Coway, N.H., and Pembroke, N.H., where she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Order of Eastern Star for 74 years, and Pembroke Congregational Church.
Isabelle was married to L. Wilder Quint for 52 years before his death and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Paul Kerr of Belton, Texas; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, Leon, Cecil, and Ernest Perkins, and one sister, Helen Perkins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 30 at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main St., Concord. Burial will follow in Conway Village Cemetery, Conway, N.H.
