Gail L. Smith
April 19, 2010
Saco, Maine
Gail Smith died in the early hours of the morning on April 19th, 2010. She is survived by Leslie, her husband of 44 years; her daughters, April and Amy, of Saco; her son, Duane, of Punta Gorda, FL; parents, Lurlene and Charles Morris, of Sanford; and her sister, Constance Webber and husband, Russ, of Wells. She is also survived by her four beloved grandchildren, Gunner, MacKenzie, Kael and Cody of whom she was very, very proud, as well as, many nieces and nephews.
Though born in Maine and graduating from Wells High School, the travels and adventures of being in a military family often took her away, sometimes as far as Turkey, and back again. Her husband, Leslie, was in the Air Force. She loved and tried many things, including cooking, ceramics and even the sport of curling. Her cheesecake recipe still lives on in a restaurant in Louisiana.
Over the years, her big heart and infinite patience let her be caregiver for dozens of children, both on military bases and locally. She would color and bake cookies and was affectionately called "Grammie" by all. She loved spending time with her family and will be sorely missed by anyone who's life she touched. We love and miss her dearly.
Services will be held at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. The wake is from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, April 22 and the funeral, on Friday, the 23rd, at 2pm.
