Adelard 'Gene' Dumont

Adelard "Gene" Dumont of Berwick, ME passed away on August 17, 2010 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Gene was at home with the care of Beacon Hospice, his wife Gert, and his family by his side.
He was born September 1, 1927 to George and Blanche (Caron) Dumont and lived in Berwick all his life.
He started his business, Dumont's Auto Body in 1957 and retired after 50 years.
He was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War from 1952-1954. He received the Korean service medal with 3 bronze stars; the United Nations service medal and the National Defense service medal. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4485 and Commander from 1977-1980.
His greatest pastime was planting his vegetable garden and chopping wood.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Gertrude (Morency) Dumont of Berwick, two daughters, Denise (Dumont) Pease of Nottingham, NH, and Jackie (Dumont) Koller of North Waterboro, ME; one son Jerry Dumont of Somersworth, NH; one sister Laurette Babb of Somersworth, NH; two brothers Roger Dumont of Rochester, NH and Victor Dumont of Berwick; one granddaughter and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010 from 5-8PM at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick, ME. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11AM at Our Lady of the Angels Parish, Our Lady of Peace Church in Berwick. Interment to follow at Evergreen cemetery in Berwick with full military honors.

Albert Wakefield Meserve

Albert Wakefield Meserve, 76, of School Street, died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Southern Maine Medical Center. He was born in Portland on May 9, 1934, the son of Robert Chisholm and Mary Elizabeth (Wakefield) Meserve. Albert spent his early years in the Kennebunkport area. His father’s employment took him to Alaska, where he graduated from Anchorage High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from Adelphi College in Garden City, NY. He earned his Masters in Education from the University of Southern Maine.
He began his teaching career at the Park Street School in Kennebunk, where he taught grades 6, 5 and 4. He then served as Principal at Cousens School in Kennebunk, retiring in 1989. In his retirement, he served as an advisor on the School Board. He also owned and operated a lawn care service for over 20 years.
Albert was a member of the Arundel Lodge #76, AF & AM, and was months away from earning his 50-year pin. He was also a member of the NEA and MEA.
He enjoyed snow skiing and was an avid motorcyclist. He and his riding buddies enjoyed their weekly rides to Reynolds Motorsports for coffee.
Survivors include his loving wife Beverly of Kennebunkport; two sons, Robert S. Meserve and his wife Debbie of Kennebunk, John Meserve of Kennebunk; two daughters, Patricia Good of Kennebunkport and Ellen Coniaris and her husband Dean of Kennebunkport; and his four grandchildren, Alison Good, Jason Good, Michael Meserve and Kimberlee Meserve.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service and Masonic Service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Arundel Cemetery, North Street, Kennebunkport. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to a scholarship fund for students aspiring to a career in teaching. Mail donations to: The Albert W. Alice L. Shuffleburg, 75 years, of West Paris, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at her home.
She was born February 18, 1935 in Kennebunkport to Reuben and Delmar (McKenney) Inniss and educated in Kennebunk schools. In 1959 she married Robert Shuffleburg of Kennebunkport. Alice worked as a house cleaner and she and Robert enjoyed working at local flea markets. They lived in Kennebunkport until moving to West Paris, where she resided for the last 22 years.
Alice was an avid craftswoman, enjoying knitting and
needlepoint
.
Alice is survived by her brother, Philip Inniss; her sisters, Marguerite Wilcox and Helene Cote; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call during visiting hours on Monday, August 2 from 6 to 8 pm at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 3 at 10 am at Arundel cemetery in Kennebunkport, with Reverend Jim King.

Allan P. Cooke, 98 years, a resident of Kennebunk passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010.
Mr. Cooke was born February 20, 1912 in Newton, MA a son of Allan and Ida (Patterson) Cooke.
Allan lived in Nova Scotia from ages 2-14, and then moved to Wells and graduated from Wells High School. In 1930, he married Doris E. Gowen and moved to Kennebunk where they raised their family.
Mr. Cooke was a store manager for the First National Store chain, and worked for many years at the store in Kennebunkport, retiring after 45 years.
He was an avid sports fan, playing many sports in high school and following the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He also greatly enjoyed
hunting, fishing and especially gardening. He loved spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Arundel Lodge for 60 years and a former member of the Kennebunk Advent Christian Church.
He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Doris, who passed away in 1999, as well as a daughter, Diane Paquin, many years ago.
He is survived by two daughters, Joan Hoxie and her husband Donald of Wells and Sylvia Cooke of Gales Ferry, CT; 6 grandchildren: Dale Allan Hoxie, Sharon Mueller and Eric Hoxie of CT, Linda St. Pierre, David Paquin and Paul Paquin of NH and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 10-11AM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, where a Masonic Service will take place at 11AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:15AM. Interment will be at 3PM in First Parish cemetery in York, ME.

Alyce A. Tucceri

Alyce A. Tucceri, 80, of Lyman, Maine, formerly of Kennebunkport, passed away on Feb. 9, 2010, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Alyce was born in Needham, Massachusetts, on May 28, 1929, the daughter of Alice Brittain and Thomas Mahoney Sr. She is survived by two siblings; Margaret Zapatka of Kennebunk, and Eileen Reading of Waterville. She is pre-deceased by her brother, Thomas Mahoney, Jr. and her sister, Jeanne Mahoney. Alyce grew up in Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts, graduated from Newton High School, and graduated as Valedictorian from Stratford Business School, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Alyce has touched many lives in the Kennebunk community. In the past, she worked for The Shawmut Inn, Bibber Memorial Chapel, and among others, Kennebunk High School – her favorite. She has unselfishly given her spirit, dedication, zest for life, and
whole heart to every person she has ever known. We will all take a piece of her with us, and will all miss her greatly.
Alyce is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Robert Tucceri of Lyman, her daughter Alyce Swan and her husband Thomas of Lyman, and her two sons; Robert Tucceri and his wife Denise of Red Deer, Alberta, and Laurence “Larry” Tucceri and his wife Amy, of West Kennebunk, Maine.
Her greatest passion in her life was her family – especially her grandchildren. Alyce had six grandchildren – Barry, Bonnie, and Robbie Tucceri, Thomas Swan, and Samantha and Matthew Tucceri. Her favorite memories are those of times spent with her grandchildren at The Colony Beach in Kennebunkport. Alyce lived for sports – and faithfully watched every sports game on TV – especially New England Sports. She enjoyed reading, Italian cooking, hockey, bird-watching, and spending every minute she could with her family. She loved all board games, especially cribbage and scrabble, but “no-liked” bingo.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 11 AM at Holy Spirit Parish - St. Martha’s Church, Kennebunk, followed by a gathering at Larry and Amy’s residence, 6 Littlefield Dr, West Kennebunk, to celebrate Alyce’s life. All family and friends are welcome. Anita L. Troegner - 67 years, a resident of Wells Branch, died on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
Anita was born in Somersworth, NH on April 24, 1943 a daughter of John C. and Mary Jane (Moore) Mayo and attended Berwick Schools.
Anita was married to Joseph W. Troegner in Berwick, Maine. They moved to New Jersey where they ran Joe’s Texaco Gas Station for several years before movinb to Maine where they started Joe Troegner’s Service Station on Route 111 Biddeford until the business grew and they build a brand new Joe Troegner Auto Service on Route One, Biddeford where she was secretary for many years. She also worked for the Ocean National Bank of Kennebunk and most recently as tax collector for the Town of Kennebunkport for several years and worked many part time jobs. She was a member of the Portside Rotary of Kennebunkport, member of the St Martha’s Church of Kennebunk where she was Eucharistic minister and Sunday school teacher and a volunteer with the United Way and JC’s.
She enjoyed shopping, crocheting, gardening and family get-togethers.
She was predeceased by her parents.
She is survived by two sons; Joseph L Troegner and his fiancée Tina of Waterboro and John W. Troegner and his wife Theresa of Biddeford and a daughter Anita M. Belanger and her husband Jimmie of Biddeford, a brother Joseph “Sonny” Mayo of Berwick, five sisters Rita Arnold of Dover, NH, Jeannette Dumais of Zephyrhills, FL, Lucille Brooks of Berwick, Rose Lajoie of Berwick and Theresa Sansoncie of Rochester, NH and five grandchildren Samantha, John-Ryan, Katelyn ,Lauren and Emily, her former husband Joseph W. Troegner and his wife Rachel of Lyman and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 9 PM Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Holy Spirit Parish at St Martha’s, Portland Road Kennebunk. Private Interment will be in St Joseph’s cemetery in Biddeford in later date.

Arnold Alden “Whitie” Whitehouse, Sr.

Arnold Alden “Whitie” Whitehouse, Sr., 88, of Langsford Road, died peacefully at home in his beloved Cape Porpoise on Friday, December 25, 2009. He was born in Syracuse, NY on April 23, 1921, the son of Arnold Arthur Whitehouse and Muriel Anna (Breads) Whitehouse. He was educated at the Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA, and attended Colgate University in Hamilton, NY prior to joining the US Army Air Force, where he became a pilot, and eventually a pilot trainer.
On October 27, 1945, he married Eleanor Shedd in North Ferrisburg, VT. Together they enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
After leaving active military duty, he worked at Berkshire Coated Paper in Great Barrington, MA, then as a salesman at Mathias Paper Corporation in Penn Lynn, Pennsylvania. He also held various positions at Ski Skoal Ski Shop, Harris Company in Portland, Pepperell Mills, and the Cape Porpoise Pier Corporation. Arnold was the owner of AAW Lobster Company, which operated out of Cape Porpoise harbor. He served the Town of Kennebunkport as both Shellfish Warden, and Municipal Parking Lot Attendant.
He enjoyed sailing, canoeing, and clamming.
Arnold was predeceased by two sisters, Juni (Muriel) Ludwig of Cape Porpoise, and Ann Miller of Cape Porpoise and Tenant’s Harbor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor, of Cape Porpoise; brother Hale Edward Whitehouse of Cape Porpoise; sister Sky Pennell of Orgeon; daughter Eleanor Zwick and her husband Jack of North Carolina; 2 sons, Arnold A. (Buddy) Whitehouse, Jr., and his wife Mimi of Kennebunk, Jonathan Whitehouse and his wife Miriam of Kennebunk Lower Village; 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, stretching from Maine to Florida.
The family wishes to express their thanks for the loving care given by Dr. Nathan Wilson, the nurses and aides from Beacon Hospice, and the Church on the Cape.
There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church on the Cape, 3 Langsford Road, Cape Porpoise. Interment will be in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport next spring/summer. Austin Randall Dykes, 15 years, of Studley Lane, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 as the result of a tragic motor vehicle accident.
Austin was born February 2, 1995 in Jackson, TN the son of Randall and Celena (Poole) Dykes. He attended the Wells Schools and was currently a sophomore at Wells High School.
Austin loved his family and all of his friends. He enjoyed music and was an avid BMX rider. He enjoyed working with his dad in his father’s business, Superior Window Tint.
Austin is survived by his loving parents, Randy and Celena Dykes; his sisters, Haley, Savanah, and Isabella Dykes; his paternal grandparents, James Dykes and Glennarose Dykes; and his maternal grandparents, Albert and Gail Hubbard.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, ME. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 4 p.m. at the Wells Junior High School, Ward Gym, on Route 1 in Wells. Interment will follow in Ocean View Cemetery.
