Her strong belief in international understanding led her to participate in the Experiment in International Living accepting European, Russian and African students into her home. Politically opinionated with liberal learning’s, she participated in the civil rights movement and during the Viet Nam conflict, anti-war protests. Since the invasion of Iraq, her bumper sticker read, “war is not the answer.” From a long line of Presbyterian ministers, she described herself, “at heart an un-churched Unitarian” but attended several local churches. At age 82 and determined to use a computer, she became proficient and enjoyed playing bridge with international partners and was in constant communication with family and friends.
