Lenore H. Barrows

Lenore Hutchins Barrows, age 79 of Ocean Park, formerly of Langsford Road, Cape Porpoise and Lynn, Mass., died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at a Portland hospital.
She was born in Newburyport, Mass. on December 18, 1925, a daughter of Trafton and Medeline F. Thompson Hutchins.
She graduated from Lynn English High School in 1943 and was a homemaker most of her life.
Lenore did some modeling in New York City for a time, and also worked as a store detective at a major department store in the Boston area. In addition, she received her CNA, and did private home care for three years, and also worked as a teacher aid at the Kennebunk Christian Academy.
She was a former member of the Sea Road Advent Christian Church, and was a current member of the Hope Christian Fellowship for the last six years.
Lenore was a 40 year choir member and enjoyed reading and traveling.
Her husband, Leonard Barrows predeceased her.
She is survived by a sister, Shirley Hutchins of Lynn, Mass; a niece, Linda Steir of Hooksett, N.H.; and six “adopted” great nephews, two “adopted” nephews and one “adopted” niece.
Visitation will be from 12noon to 1pm Wednesday at the Kennebunk Baptist Church, Main Street, Kennebunk, with a funeral service to follow at 1pm with Rev. James King officiating.
Burial will be at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody, Mass. in the spring.

Lessie G. Nadeau

Lessie G. (Jenny) Nadeau, age 83 of Kennebunk, died Sunday, January 9, 2005 at the Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
She was born in Kennebunk on October 1, 1921 to Earl and Vivian Littlefield Hanscom.
Lessie loved to work in flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed rides to the White Mountains, going to the beach and spent quite a few winters in Florida with her husband of 62 years, Raymond P. Nadeau.
Lessie’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and she was a member of the Kennebunk Baptist Church.
Lessie is predeceased by a great granddaughter, Taylor-Ray Congdon, and a brother, Milon Hanscom of Biddeford.
She was a loving stay at home mother to two children, Mrs. Jerry (Cindy) Congdon of Kennebunk, and Peter Nadeau of Arundel. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Shane Congdon of Kennebunk, Sean Nadeau of Mass., Karen Nadeau of New Hampshire and Jenny Nadeau of Biddeford; and a great grandchild, Caleb Raymond Congdon of Kennebunk; a brother, Vernon Hanscom of Kennebunk; four sisters, Marge Gould of Kennebunk, Mrs. Thomas (Nelly) Caron of Derry, New Hampshire, Mrs. Richard (Kathleen) Stevens of Kennebunk, and Mrs. Richard (Janet) Roy of Kennebunk.
Visiting hours will be from 6-8p.m. Tuesday at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.
A private graveside committal service will be held at Evergreen cemetery in Kennebunk.

Lillian D. Ingraham

Kennebunk, Maine - Lillian DeWolfe Ingraham of Kennebunk, Maine, died January 15 at home surrounded by family. The daughter of the late Reverend Thomas DeWolfe and Elaine Ruggles DeWolfe, Lillian was born in Shelburne, Nova Scotia on June 24, 1930.
She spent her childhood in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick before moving to Maine. She graduated from Glace Bay High School in Nova Scotia, and later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Maine and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Connecticut.
Lillian taught at all levels in public schools in Rochester, New York; Hartford, Connecticut; and Canaan and Kennebunk, Maine. She served as principal at schools in both York, Maine and Rye, New Hampshire and was Superintendent of Schools in Madison, Maine.
In her retirement she taught classes and supervised education students at the University of New England. She enjoyed researching family history, walking beaches, photography, and spending time with her family.
Lillian is survived by her children, Thomas Ingraham and his wife Betty of Orono; Bud Ingraham and his wife Lisa of Canaan; Richard Ingraham and his wife Marsha of Naples, Florida; Lynn Cole and her husband Aaron of Waterville; and Gail Mellon and her husband Anthony of Kennebunk. She is also survived by her brother James DeWolfe and his wife Sally of Auburn, fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews.
Lillian's family would like to thank Jackie McKim, Tom Sferes, Dr. Daniel Hayes, and Dr. Ann Hunter, as well as Hospice of Southern Maine including Janet Gauvin, Pam Lyons, Meg Noble, and Jenny Comeau for their compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2005, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. Lucille N. Rautio, 81, formerly of Somersworth died Monday, January 24, 2005 at Riverside Rest Home in Dover, N.H.
Lucille was born in Claremont, N.H. on February 27, 1923, a daughter of Austin and Laura (Perras) Newell. She graduated from Springfield, V.T. High School in 1942.
Lucille was a homemaker all of her life.
Mrs. Rautio lived in Somersworth, N.H. coming from St. Johnsbury, V.T. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene W. Rautio, who died in 1996.
She is survived by a son, Wayne W. Rautio of Nottingham, N.H., a daughter Susan Sonnenberg and husband Donald of Port St. Lucie, FL, 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 6:00 to 7:30, Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick, ME. A funeral Service will follow at 7:30 at the chapel.

Malvina P. Strickland

Malvina P. Strickland, age 78 of North Berwick, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at York Hospital.
She was born in Biddeford on February 19, 1926, the daughter of Alfred W. and Arline Carter Pelletier.
Malvina worked at Kesslen Shoe in Kennebunk for 16 years and later she worked as a nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital in Hanford, California.
Surviving are two sons, Jim Strickland of North Berwick and Robert Strickland of Fresno, California; two grandsons, one great granddaughter and three great grandsons.
Private family services will be held in the spring.

Mary Christine Harnois

Mary Christine (O’Rourke) Curtin Harnois passed away in DeBary, FL on Thursday, January 20th after a brief illness while vacationing with her husband, John.
Mrs. Harnois was born the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Moriarty) O’Rourke on December 9, 1924 and raised in the ‘Churchill’ section of Holyoke. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School, was a World War II veteran and was honorably discharged from the Women’s Army Corp in 1945. ‘Chris’ was a waitress for over 50 years working for establishments such as The Mountain View, The Valley Arena, Kelly’s Lobster House, Gleason’s Townhouse, Gramp’s (all in the Holyoke/Chicopee, MA, area) and finished her working life at Mike’s Clam Shack in her much loved Wells, ME. She was also employed by the Holyoke Police Department for several years as a police matron.
Chris leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 40 years, John Harnois, sons Ted Curtin and his wife Darlene of Chicopee, MA, Michael Harnois and his wife Diane of Chicopee, MA, and John Harnois and his wife Barbara of Wells, Maine. She also leaves her daughters Ann (Curtin) Guilbeau and her husband Tony, and Elizabeth (Harnois) Cournoyer, both of Chicopee, MA. Chris also leaves behind 8 beautiful grandchildren and 6 delightful great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 30th at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road in Wells, ME. A memorial service will follow at the Chapel at 1:00 PM.

Mary Constance Eckel

Mary Constance Eckel, age 87 of 13 Larboard Lane in Kennebunk, Maine, died at Bradford on the Common in Kennebunk on Sunday, February 27, 2005, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Connie was born June 29, 1917, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Mark Eugene and Constance Butler Winchester and attended Franklin Elementary School where her mother taught kindergarten. She later graduated from Waite High School in Toledo in 1935 and went on to Denison University in Granville, Ohio where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1939. For several years following her graduation she worked as a legal secretary in the family law firm with her father and brother, the late Eugene Winchester also of Toledo. At the outbreak of World War II she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a training officer at the naval air base in Minneapolis, Minnesota and later in Seattle, Washington. By the end of the war she achieved the rank of Lieutenant (jg).
It was during the last two years of WW II that she met and married her husband of 55 years, a Navy chaplain, the late Very Rev. Malcolm William Eckel. Together they served in Episcopal parishes in Saratoga Springs, New York; Pittsfield, Massachusetts; and Springfield, Massachusetts where Malcolm was the Dean of Christ Church Cathedral. During their time in Springfield, she completed a Master’s Degree in Education from Bridgewater State Teachers’ College and worked with devotion as a tutor for the Springfield Public Schools helping teenage mothers continue their education through the PAGE Program. After retirement, Connie and Malcolm served interim ministries in Syracuse, New York; Columbus, Ohio; and Naples, Florida; as well as Portland, Biddeford and Falmouth, Maine.
Connie was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Kennebunk, Maine and had for several years volunteered at the Budget Box as well as the Wells Public Library. She was also a member of the Rebecca Emery Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. Connie frequently volunteered at the Maine Chapter’s several museums including the Tate House in Westbrook.
Connie is survived by her five children: Malcolm David Eckel of Brookline, Massachusetts; Mary Eckel LaRochelle of Rockland, Maine; Douglas Winchester Eckel of Blacksburg, Virginia; Mark Eugene Eckel of San Diego, California; and Matthew Edward Eckel of Boyds, Maryland, and by her six grand children: Leslie Elizabeth Eckel, New Haven Connecticut; Hilary Constance LaRochelle, Gardiner, Maine; Kathryn Augustine LaRochelle, Wilder, Vermont; Adrian Stewart LaRochelle, Baltimore, Maryland; Malcolm Christopher Eckel and Allison Meredith Eckel, both of Blacksburg, Virginia. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Naomi Mae Winchester, Toledo, Ohio; her nephews, Bruce and Mark Winchester, and Eugene Winchester III and his children, Eugene IV and Amanda Winchester.
A family funeral will be held at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Kennebunk, Maine on Friday, March 4, 2005. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at St. David’s in the spring (date to be announced).
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staffs of Huntington Common, Bradford Court, and Bradford on the Common for their expert care and sympathetic guidance to both Connie and her family during the course of her illness.

Olea Ruth MacDonald

Olea Ruth MacDonald, age 90, a long time resident of Maine and of Wakefield Road, died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Plantation 21, Maine on June 7, 1914, a daughter of Harley Cleveland and Almira Decker Andrews.
Olea grew up in Princeton and graduated from Princeton High School.
She was a homemaker all of her life and was married for 65 wonderful years to Louis MacDonald who predeceased her on December 1, 2004.
She was a devoted and beloved wife and mother. Her life revolved around her family and neighborhood children. She loved everyone with a gentle and godly spirit, always wanting nothing for herself, finding joy in giving to others.
Olea enjoyed knitting, not only for family and friends, but for Caring Unlimited families who needed mittens and hats.
She was also very close to her dog, Buddy.
Besides her husband, Olea is predeceased by two brothers, Oliver Andrews and Alan Andrews.
Surviving are her son, Donald MacDonald of Tyler, Texas; two daughters, Joanne M. Stuart of Kennebunk and Andrea MacDonald of Citrus Heights, California; a sister, H. Virginia Graham of Florida; two brothers, Leo (Charley) Andrews of Canada, and Merle Andrews of Princeton; 12 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.
Burial will follow at the Stuart Family Cemetery, Kennebunk.
