Carroll Hancie Moulton
EAST LEBANON -- Carroll Hancie Moulton, 83, of 42 West Lebanon Road died Tuesday, January 1, 2002 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born March 6, 1918 in North Berwick, Maine, the son of the late Hancie and Edith (Ramsdell) Moulton. He was a graduate of North Berwick High School. He served in the US Navy during WWII.
Mr. Moulton worked as a Compounder for American Cyanomid in Sanford, Maine, until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Rochester, NH. He also served as a selectman for the Town of Lebanon for 13 years.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Florence (St. Saviour) Moulton; four daughters, Lorraine Patch and her husband, Ronal of Lebanon, ME, Carol Hartford and her husband, Ernest of Prescott, AZ, Beverly Johnston and her husband, John of Hancock, ME and Laurel York and her husband, Roger of Waterville, ME; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Viola) Allen of Wells, ME, and Margaret Davis of East Rochester, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
Vassilios Handanos, M.D.
POINTE CLAIRE, QUEBEC -- Vassilios Handanos, M.D., passed away suddenly on the evening of March 7 at the age of 80.
An intimate service with his immediate family and a few close friends was held on the afternoon of March 10, also in Pointe Claire.
Dr. Handanos is survived by his wife, Lisely Aline Handanos; four children, Dimitrios, Daphne, Christine and Nicholas; and six grandchildren.
His indomitable spirit remains among all those whose lives he came in contact with.
Vera L. Lane
PERU -- Vera L. Lane, age 83, of the Ridge Road, Peru, and a life-long resident of this community, died early Tuesday morning, March 27, 2001, following a long illness, with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Rumford, the daughter of Frank and Angelinia (Delassio) Fergoda. She received her education in Mexico schools and prior to her marriage was employed at Diamond Match.
On Oct. 9, 1948, she married Roger W. Lane at St. Athanasius-St. John Church in Rumford. Mrs. Lane was a communicant of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Mexico and was a former member of the St. Joseph's Guild.
A devoted wife and mother, she dearly loved her family and when she was well, enjoyed traveling with her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roger, of Peru; two daughters, Carol Stinchfield and her husband, Tim Stinchfield of Mexico, and Marie Morse and her husband, Peter Morse of Livermore; one brother, Tony Fergola and his wife, Isabelle of Mexico; three sisters, Josephine Henry of Dixfield, Caroline Gaudet and her husband, Robert Gaudet of Syracuse, NY, and Mary Hinman and her husband, Bill Hinman of Portland; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Gloria McFadden, and three brothers, Frank Fergola, Albert Fergola and Victor Fergola.
Catherine Marie Gallant
RUMFORD -- Catherine Marie Gallant, 97, died Wednesday June 6 at the Rumford Community Home, where she had been a resident for 8 years.
She was born October 23, 1903 in Rogersville N.B., Canada
the daughter of Pierre and Margaret Maillet Gaudet. She was a communicant of St. Athanasius St. John Church and a member of St. Ladies of St. Anne. Mrs. Gallant has been a residence of the area since 1930.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Ivan and his wife, Irene Gallant of Rumford, Leo and his wife, Merlene of Roxbury Pond, and Louis and his wife, Saundra of Wilton; three daughters, Doris Jensen of Scarborough, Esther and her husband, Joseph McPhee of Rumford, and Ann and her husband, William of MA; several grandchildren, many great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Benjamin Gaudet; a sister, Jane Casey; and a grandson, Russell McPhee.
Doris M. Lebel
CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA -- Doris M. Lebel, 76, of Chula Vista, CA, passed away suddenly on September 5, 2001.
She was born in Mexico, Maine on December 29, 1924, the daughter of Napoleon and Catherine (Arsenault) Gallant.
Mrs. Lebel was a retired electronics technician who worked for Hughes Aircraft for 18 years and Cubic Corp for 15 years. She attended St. Pius X Catholic Church and was a member of the Chula Vista Quilters. She was an avid antique collector.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (1991), and is survived by two daughters, Louise Murphy (Kevin) of Blaine, WA, Judy Beck (Russell) of Dunsmuir, CA; three sons, Francis Lebel of McGregor, MN, Peter Lebel of Huntington Beach, CA, and Robert Lebel of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in the Bath and Rumford, Maine area.
Mrs. Lebel was buried on September 11, 2001 after services at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Chula Vista, CA.
Earl R. Zinck
RUMFORD -- Earl R. Zinck, 76, widower of Gloria Parady Zinck of 29 Wyman Hill Road, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at the Rumford Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born March 11, 1926 in Rumford, the son of Alvin and Sarah Boyle Zinck. A resident of this community all of his life, he was a communicant of St. Athanasius St. John Church and a graduate of Stephens High School in the Class of 1944. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Corporal.
Earl was employed by Boise-Cascade for over 40 years, where he worked in the electrical department as an electrical foreman.
An avid sportsman, he truly enjoyed golfing,
hunting
and fishing. For several years, Earl was the flagman for most northeastern ski jumping events, as well as a volunteering in the 1980 Olympics at Lake Placid.
"Bampy" as his grandchildren affectionately knew him, was proud of all his children for their accomplishments and had a special place in his heart for his 15 grandchildren, with whom he loved to go hiking and doing other out door activities.
He was a member of the Chisholm Ski Club, Oakdale Country Club, Napoleon Ouellette Post 24 American Legion, Robert Shand Post 1641 VFW, was a recent recipient of the Boone and Crockett Club, and was a member of both the 25 and 40 Year Clubs of retired Boise Employees.
Earl played semi-pro football and basketball after high school for the VFW Teams.
Survivors include his five sons and theirs wives, Paul and Carol of Amesbury, MA, Peter and Tracey of Saco, Bob and Sheila of Groton, MA, John and Marie of Scarborough, and Stephen and Nancy of Wells; two daughters and theirs husband, Ellen and Jeff Worthing of Scarborough and Susan, and Brad Adley of Rumford; 15 grandchildren, David, Elizabeth and Jonathan Adley, Connor Worthing, Nicholas, Matthew, Thomas, Justin, Andrew, Scott, Corey, Ryan, Nathan, Aaron and Aidan Zinck; a brother, Henry and his wife, Mary-Lou of Rumford; and a sister and her husband, Faye and Hope Swygert of McDonough, GA.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Ralph, John and Arthur; and a sister, Marie.
Claude Blanchard
RUMFORD -- Claude L. Blanchard, Sr., 87 died Sunday March 25, 2001 at his residence on Forest Ave. in Rumford, and had lived in the area for many years.
Born in Eagle Lake, Maine on August 19, 1913, he was the son of Amable and Ann (Landry) Blanchette. He attended schools in Eagle Lake, Maine and was a high school graduate.
He worked for Andover Wood Products in Andover, Maine from 1953 until his retirement in the mid 80's. He was a communicant of St. Athanasius - St. John Church in Rumford.
Mr. Blanchard was married in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York to the late Cecilia M. Duane, who died in Rumford, Maine on May 21, 2000.
Survivors include four sons, Claude Blanchard, Jr. of Manchester, N. H.; Dexter Blanchard and his wife, Linda of Springhill, FL, Mark Blanchard of Rochester, N.H., Patrick Blanchard of Rumford, ME; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Carolee) Meehan of Springhill, FL, Mrs. Frank (Barbara) Losalo of Springhill, FL, Mrs. Daniel (Odelia) Losalo of Shirley, Long Island, New York; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Arlene Dorey
RUMFORD -- Arlene G. Dorey, 68, of Canton Point Road, Canton, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at the Rumford Hospital where she had been a patient for three days.
She was born August 16, 1932, the daughter of the late Roy and Geraldine (Valentine) Dorey, of the Bog Road, Gilead, ME. She worked over 20 years for Foster Mfg. of Wilton, retiring due to ill health in 1987.
Miss Dorey is survived by three brothers, Roy L., of Battle Creek, MI, Maurice, of Rumford Point, and Robert, of Andover; a sister, Ernestine Okon, of Mayville, WI; two half-sisters, Nellie Bethel, of Farmerville, TX, and Diane Jackson, of Auburn, ME; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Arnold.
David Lee Noyes
CANTON -- David Lee Noyes, 42, of Canton, died unexpectedly in a
hunting
accident on Thursday, December 6, 2001, in Canton.
He was born March 5, 1959, in Rumford, a son of Kenneth G. and Glenda M. (Russell) Noyes. He attended school in Dixfield, graduating in 1977.
Dave worked in construction for a number of years as a rodbuster and iron worker and was known as one of the best. He currently co-owned a small gravel trucking business with his brother, Al.
He was a great NASCAR fan, cheering for his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. If Dave didn't attend the race, you could be sure he was watching it with his friends.
David loved kids and was fondly known by many as "Uncle Dave." His love for his three boys: David Lee, Russell and Josh, could be seen in his face and heard in his voice when talking about them. His granddaughter, Chelsea was a special gift in his life and he loved her greatly.
His greatest pleasure came from
hunting
and he was a master at it, having taken some of the biggest bucks around. The days spent
hunting
with his boys, his brother, Buzzy-Big Dave, Brandon and Spence, Bruce, Nate, Scrib and all of the many friends who enjoyed being with him, were his finest hours. Dave died while doing what he loved best and he will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many people.
He is survived by his brother, Allen Noyes and his wife, Lisa of Hartford; his father, Kenneth Noyes and his wife, Ann of Madison; his mother, Glenda Goding and her husband, Bob of Canton; grandparents: Ralph and Florence Goding of Canton; grandmother, Charlotte Russell of Canton; his three sons: David Lee Noyes, Russell Noyes and Joshua Noyes, all of Canton; the mother of his children: Deb Noyes of Canton; his granddaughter, Chelsea Marie of Canton; his only nephew, Shawn Noyes of Canton; and his companion, Francine Child and her son Jerry Collins, Jr. of Canton; as well as a large extended family and many friends.
He was predeceased by a sister, Julie Goding.
Llewellyn F. Lloyd
HONOLULU, HAWAII -- Llewellyn F. Lloyd, 93, died on December 7, 2001 (the 60th anniversary of Pearl Harbor).
He was born in Rumford on April 26, 1909. Mr. Lloyd was retired from the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.
Although he spent the last 35 years of his life in Hawaii, he never forgot his love for the people of Rumford.
Mr. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Annette, of Honolulu, HI; three sons, Richard of Honolulu, HI, Robert of Angier, NC, and David of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; three daughters, Gail Sullivan of Williamsburg, VA, Jeannie Light of Miami Beach, FL, and Deborah Miraflor of Handerson, NV; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services are on April 4, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at The National cemetery of the Pacific Honolulu, HI.
