Doris B. Laliberte
1922-2002
WATERVILLE — Doris B. Laliberte, 79, of Winslow, died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Waterville.
She was born Aug. 20, 1922, in Skowhegan, daughter of Damase Bosse and Martha (Violette) Bosse.
She married Ralph Laliberte in November of 1942 at Skowhegan and they spent 38 years together. She was a kind and gentle lady who enjoyed spending time with her family.
Her husband, Ralph, predeceased her March 14, 1980.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Gray of New Jersey, Helen Huard and her husband, John, of South Portland, and Paula Trask and her husband, Carol, of Winslow; four sisters, Nora Gravel, Jeanette Decoteau, Theresa Hunter and Anita Durland; two brothers, Eugene Bosse (deceased) and James Bosse; nine grandchildren, Colleen, Peter, Kristen, Kimberly, John, Kristi, Carl, Shelly, Jeff; and 16 great-grandchildren.
There will be no visiting hours. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Sacred Heart Church, Pleasant Street, Waterville. Burial will follow in the family lot at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville. There will be a gathering of family and friends in the reception room at the Notre Dame Catholic Church, Silver Street, Waterville, following the service. Flowers may be sent to Veilleux's Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville.
Gayland A. Moore Jr.
1924-2002
ABBOT — Gayland A. "Dinty" Moore Jr., 77, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at a Bangor hospital.
He was born June 20, 1924, in Abbot, son of Gayland Sr. and Ione (Bennett) Moore. He attended Abbot High School and graduated in 1941 from Guilford High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 aboard the LCI (G) 565 in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he was a postgraduate student at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield and was for many years the millwright and electrician at Hardwood Products in Guilford.
Gayland married Joyce E. Steeves, Sept. 10, 1948.
Survivors include his wife of Abbot; three children, Roxanne (Moore) and Gaelen Saucier of Bangor, Maureen (Moore) and Scott Taylor of Parkman, and P. Michael and Kimberly (Johnson) Moore of Parkman; six grandchildren; two brothers, one sister, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, at the Village Cemetery
in Abbot with the Rev. David McLeish presiding. Those who wish may make gifts in Dinty's memory to the Abbot Historical Society, Abbot ME 04406. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home of Guilford.
Chestina W. 'Tina' Beedy
1922-2002
FARMINGTON — Chestina W."Tina" Beedy, 80, died Aug. 1, 2002, at Orchard Park in Farmington after a long illness, surrounded by her family.
She was born May 6, 1922, the daughter of Chester and Gladys Williamson Williams. She attended Embden schools and graduated from Solon High School in 1939. After attending Pelletier Beauty Culture School in Lewiston, she worked as a beautician for a short time.
She married Everett C. Durrell, Feb. 7, 1942, and raised seven children on a farm in Freeman. Later she worked at Franklin County Memorial Hospital, G. H. Bass and Co., Maine Dowel Corp. and Ames Department Store before becoming disabled with arthritis.
She married P. Drew Beedy, July 3, 1971, and resided in West Farmington. She was always supportive of Drew's sign painting business and she enjoyed gardens, birds, and cats before moving to Hazel Thompson Apartments in 1998.
Family and friends were always important in her life. She most enjoyed being at her camp on Embden Lake.
She is survived by her husband, Drew Beedy, of Parkview, Livermore Falls; four sons, Colon E. Durrell and his companion, Mary Frank, of Farmington, Wayne Durrell and his wife, Angela, of Strong, Basil Durrell and his wife, Eleanor, of Wilton, and Michael Durrell and his companion, Jane Stinchfield, of Temple; three daughters, Bonita Pond and her husband, Elmer, of Farmington, N.H., Vicki McDonald and her husband, Clovis, of Jay, and Rita Tripp and herhusband, Parker, of Vassalboro; two stepsons, Adelbert Beedy and his wife, Lois, of Manchester, and Richard Beedy and his wife, Connie, of Dixfield; two sisters, Helen Huggins of Bangor and Bertha Whitney of Solon; two brothers, Daniel K. Williams of Madison and Robert Berry of Embden; eighteen grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Ada Cheverie, and brothers Luis Williams and Lovell Berry Jr.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Adams Funeral Home, 108 Court St., Farmington.

James A. S. Whiting Jr.
2002
CRANSTON, R.I. — James A.S. Whiting, 81, of East Corktree Circle, Port Charlotte, Fla., a retired business representative, died Thursday at home in North Kingstown. He was the husband of Merriam L. (Conlen) Whiting.
Born in Providence, the son of James A.S. Whiting Sr., and Mattie D. (Hobbs) Whiting, he had lived in Cranston for 57 years before moving to Florida four years ago. They summered on Clearwater Lake, Industry, for many years.
Mr. Whiting served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Whiting was a new business representative for Providence Gas for 10 years until retiring in 1983.
Mr. Whiting was a former president of the Providence Gas Company Union. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry and was a member of the Rhode Island Home Builders Assoc. He enjoyed cooking pastry and was an avid card player.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, James A.S. Whiting III of Providence; four daughters, Karen E. Bergander of Scituate, Cynthia I. Fontaine of West Warwick, Carolyn M. Colaluca of Scituate, and Elizabeth A. Arrico of Greene; one sister, Rebecca Whytock of Warren, N.J.; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Western Mountains Cremation and Funeral Service, Farmington.
Glenda I. Blodgett
1940-2002
MOSCOW — Glenda Irene Blodgett, 62, passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She was born Aug. 11, 1940, in North Anson, daughter of Donald and Evelyn (Packard) Berry.
Glenda enjoyed knitting, snowmobiling, cooking and spending time with her dogs, Cub and Tara.
A sister, Carol Berry, died previously.
Survivors include her husband, Lester Blodgett of Moscow; son, Lester Blodgett III and wife, Karen, of Concord; two step-grandchildren, Tonya and Matthew Kennedy; two sisters, Lucille Kennedy and husband, Arthur, of Pleasant Ridge, and Christel Mullen and husband, Kenneth, of Embden.
Services will be private. Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home, 18 River St., Bingham.
George Gagnon
1915-2002
WATERVILLE — George Gagnon, 87, of Waterville, died early Friday morning, Nov. 29, 2002, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. He was born in Five Fingers, New Brunswick, Canada, March 15, 1915, son of Michel and Marie (Auclair) Gagnon.
He was formerly employed at Keyes Fibre Co. in Shawmut for 30 years and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 10th Mountain Ski Troop as an instructor. In later years, he enjoyed bowling, skiing and liked to sail. He was also a ski instructor at Sugarloaf Mountain and Colby Ski Trail and enjoyed flying kite sailing on skates.
He was a lifeguard at the Waterville Municipal Pool in the 1930s and was one of the creators of the "weasel" which was a forerunner to the modern snowmobile today.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gertrude (Berard) Gagnon of Waterville; one daughter, Pauline Armstrong and husband, Tom, of Jefferson, N.H.; three sons, Michael Gagnon and wife, Regina, of Shawmut, James Gagnon and friend, Millie Santiargo, of Mill Valley, Calif., and Arthur Gagnon and wife, Pamela, of China, Maine; one sister, Elsie Sullivan of Lisbon Falls; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Sacred Heart Church, 70 Pleasant St., Waterville. Burial will follow at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery
in Augusta.

Walter R. McGowan
1918-2002
SKOWHEGAN — Walter Raymond "Mac" McGowan, 84, of Skowhegan, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at the Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Skowhegan. He was born Jan. 8, 1918, in Wytopitlock, the second son of Frederick E. and Jennie B. (Anderson) McGowan.
On Feb. 20, 1938, he married his beloved, Eleanor Maxine Savage. They were married for 53 wonderful years before she died June 12, 1991.
Mac lived in Skowhegan most of his life and graduated from Skowhegan High School, class of 1935. He was a star player on the football, baseball and track teams. For many years, he was a coach and a manager of Little League sports. He was a multi-sports fan including fishing and
hunting with family.
His first full-time job was with Moze Automotive in Skowhegan. After a few years, he moved to manage their store in Dexter and the Dexter Grain Store.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific. Upon discharge in 1946, he came back to Skowhegan. He worked for Graffman's Auto Supply and Dick York's Motor Supply. For 35 years, he traveled many thousands of miles as a salesman. He made many friends on his route and never forgot a one of them. He shared stories with family and friends often.
Mac served Skowhegan as a volunteer fireman and a special for the police department for 25 years. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Three brothers, George, Cecil and Harland predeceased Mac.
Survivors include his dear wife of 10 years, Verna Fay; three sons, Brian L. and wife, Barbara, and Daniel F. and wife, Claudia, both of Skowhegan, and Robert W. and wife, Lorie, of Wilmington, N.C.; three brothers, Bernard E. (Barney) of Pittsfield, Ronald F. of Winthrop and James V. (Nimmy) of Skowhegan; four sisters, Mrs. William (Juanita) Vachon of Madison, Mrs. Robert (Marion) Sanford of Scarborough, Mrs. George (Jean) Wilman of Orange, Calif., and Mrs. Edward (Laurel) Tuttle of Skowhegan; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, with the Rev. Lloyd Leeman officiating. Spring interment will take place at Southside Cemetery
in Skowhegan.

Emile D. Poulin
1932-2002
GREENFIELD, Mass. —Emile D. "Rick" Poulin, 70, of 347 Country Club Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at home. He was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Waterville, Maine, son of Romeo and Eva (Laflamme) Poulin. He attended local Catholic schools in Waterville.
Emile served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, obtaining the rank of technical sergeant. He was stationed in Japan, Korea, Thailand and North Africa, retiring from the service when he was 38.
He was employed by the United Parcel Service in the hardening room at Greenfield Tap and Die and was a postal carrier in Greenfield for the U.S. Postal Service. He was umpire chief and assigner for the Franklin County Softball Umpire Association for 30 years and umpired throughout the area.
He enjoyed working out at the Body Shoppe in Greenfield and spending time with his animals.
He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and an Eucharistic minister and a devotee of the Adoration Chapel.
Among his survivors include his wife of 49 years, the former Nancy Budrewicz; two daughters, Lori Wade and husband, Ken, of Greenfield, and Dr. Karen Poulin and husband, Dr. Stephen Greaney, of Vancouver, Wash.; brother, Francis Poulin of Oakland, Maine; two sisters, Lee Barnes of Tampa, Fla., and Patricia Thomas of Waterville; two granddaughters, Kelly Beth Wade and Linsey Bree Wade, both of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, with a funeral to be held at 8:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., Greenfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Timothy J. Campoli officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Julienne Raymond
1920-2002
WINSLOW — Julienne Raymond, 82, of Winslow, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 29, 2002, at Waterville after being ill with cancer and Alzheimer's disease for the pass two years. She was born Aug. 13, 1920, in Daigle, Maine.
She was married to Simeon Raymond Sr., who passed away March 10, 1988.
She was employed by C.F. Hathaway Co. shirt manufacturers in Waterville for several years before becoming employed by the Diamond Match Co. in Oakland, retiring in 1970, due to poor health. She had been a resident of Oak Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center in Waterville since March of 2001.
Her gentleness touched several people even though she had been very ill. Her sense of humor still shined. She knew how to bring smiles to others even though she was in pain all the time.
She was predeceased by brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Bertrand Raymond and wife, Barbara, of Massachusetts, Norman Raymond and wife, Gloria, of Connecticut, Roger Raymond and wife, Sue, of Massachusetts, Simeon Raymond and wife, Judy, of Benton, Frances Anderson and fiancé, Jim, of Waterville, Peggy Raymond of Waterville and Betty Raymond of Winslow; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank all the employees at Oak Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care and patience with our Mom. We especially want to thank her nurse "Oprah" for being with Mom since day one, and thanks to Jeannette for keeping her from being alone.
