Deane A. Cousins
FAIRFIELD — Deane A. Cousins, 58, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2000, at his home following a battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 28, 1942, in Brewer, son of the late Horace and Virginia (Haynes) Cousins. He retired from the Air National Guard after 20 years of service.
He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Dale Cousins.
Survivors include his wife, Greta (Charette) Cousins, of Fairfield; three sons, Ronald, Gary, and Michael Cousins, all of Connecticut; three daughters, Pvt. Jessica Cousins, of Fort Meade, Md., Jamie and Jennifer Cousins, of Fairfield; his grandmother, Zela Cousins, of Alexander; his sister, Linda Blanchard, of Keene, N.H.; three grandchildren, Nicole, Ronald Jr., and Crystal Cousins, all of Connecticut; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the Blessed Hope Advent Church, Pleasant Street, Waterville, with the Rev. Timothy Setzer officiating. Burial will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery
in Fairfield.

Susan G. Gilbert
BELFAST — Susan Gene Gilbert, 47, of Belfast, died Thursday morning, June 1, 2000, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after a short illness.
She was born Oct. 21, 1952, in Augusta, daughter of Eugene L. Mooers II and Ruby L. Fisher, and attended Gardiner Area High School and received a degree in nursing from the University of Maine at Augusta.
At the time of her death, She was a practicing nurse at the Eastside Rehabilitation Center in Bangor. She was proud of her nursing service given over the years throughout the state of Maine.
Sue was a member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Gilbert, of Belfast; sons, Shawn McLaughlin, of Brewer, Daniel McLaughlin, of Farmingdale, Christopher McLaughlin, of Orono, Matthew McLaughlin, of Gardiner, and their father, Stephen McLaughlin, of Gardiner; a granddaughter, Makayla McLaughlin, of Bradford. She will be remembered by close friends and relatives.
Sue's family invites family and friends to celebrate her life from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 2, at the Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Hudson officiating. Burial and committal service will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery
in Gardiner.
F. Fay Ham
NORRIDGEWOCK — F. Fay Ham, 78, of Norridgewock, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at the Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Skowhegan.
He was born April 19, 1922, in Carroll, son of Lydia (Belden) Ham and Issac Ham, and attended Corinna schools, graduating from Corinna Union Academy, where he met his wife, Ruth A. Perkins. They were married July 24, 1941, in Salisbury, Conn. Fay served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
For over 30 years, he was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Skowhegan and was also a real-estate broker and garden farmer.
Fay was a very active member of the Norridgewock First Congregational Church, Norridgewock selectman, member of the planning board and tax assessor. He was past president of the Norridgewock Historical Society and Chamber of Commerce past president. He was a member of the Lebanon Lodge No. 116, past master and treasurer, 32nd-degree member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, member and treasurer of the Central Maine Shrine Club. He was a member of the Somerset County Extension Association, treasurer for 28 years, director of the 4-H Foundation, University of Maine, 4-H leader and founder of the 4-H Wilderness Camp.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert and Herman, and two sisters, Sylvia Ruth Ham and Flora Susi, and a son-in-law, John P. Finnemore.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Perkins) Ham; and children, Sylvia H. Thistle, and husband, Dale, of Skowhegan, Stephen E. Ham, of Holman, Wis., Susan F. Adams, and husband, Lawrence, of Skowhegan; eight grandchildren, Randi Anna Quinn, and husband, Patrick, of South Kingston, R.I., Christopher Young Finnemore, and wife, Mary, of Skowhegan, Jamie Stickney Rankin, and husband, Steve, of Cambridge, Mass., and Heather Elizabeth Finnemore, of Las Flores, Calif., and Daniel, Trevor, Megan and Lacey Ham of Onalaska, Wis.; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Finnemore, Jack Perkins Quinn, and Lydia Rose Rankin; brother, Hazen B. Ham, of Fredericksburg, Va.; sister, Dora Ropski, of Skowhegan; nieces and nephews.

Robert P. Mason
ALBION — Robert P. Mason, 83, of the Unity Road, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at a Waterville hospital following a long illness.
He was born July 11, 1916, in Bangor, son of George and Georgie (Rounds) Mason, and attended schools in Milo. During the Depression he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps throughout Maine. He came to Albion in 1937 and drove truck for several years. He later owned and operated a farm in Albion raising chickens. He was one of the first persons in Kennebec county to raise broilers commercially.
Robert was a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and picking strawberries and apples during his retirement years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Knowlton Mason, of Albion, whom he married Jan. 21, 1938.
Survivors include his wife; one son, David Mason, of Walpole, and one daughter, Valerie Mason, of Albion; one brother, George Mason, and wife, Joanne, of Edinburg; four sisters, Marian Miles, of Yarmouth, Dorothy Kerr, of Millinockett, Charlotte Fish, and husband, Richard, of Greenbush, and Madeline Sargent, and husband, Maynard, of Florida; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, Depot Street, Unity, with the Rev. John Wrigglesworth, of Albion, officiating.

Stanlene D. Mellows
SOUTHINGTON, Conn. — Stanlene D. Mellows, 68, of Lawncrest Drive, died Friday, May 26, 2000, at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Connecticut.
She was born Nov. 29, 1931, in North Anson, Maine, daughter of Stanley Mellows, and the late Gertrude (Smith) Mellows. He had been employed at the Stanley Works until retiring.
She leaves two sons, Franklin Thielman Jr., of Southington, and James Thielman, of Waterbury, Conn.; brother, Henry Mellows, of Maine; four sisters, Rosemary Merry, Charlotte Withee and Sharon Mellows, all of Maine, and Agnes Gray, of Florida; one granddaughter, Megan Thielman; and a very close friend, Patricia Burgess.
Friends and family called at the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, May 29. Burial will be private at the South End Cemetery.

Robert A. Nye
WATERVILLE — Robert A. Nye, 34, of Spring Street, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 1, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 14, 1954, in Waterville, son of John and Alice (Goodale) Nye. He had been self-employed as a carpenter and handyman for several years.
Survivors include two daughters, Desiree Campbell, of Oakland, and Alicia Nye, of Waterville; two sons, Robert A. Nye Jr., and Benjamin Oaks, both of Waterville; his mother, Alice Nye, of Waterville; sister, Reginia Breard, of Waterville; six brothers, James Stevens, of Stratton, David Stevens, of Belfast, Richard, Steven, Gerald and Timothy Nye, all of Waterville; granddaughter, Jade Oliver; his girlfriend, Barbara Tilton, of Waterville; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the funeral at 4 p.m. Monday, June 5, at the Church of the Nazarene, 81 Main St., Fairfield, with the Rev. Gary Sinclair officiating. Burial will be held later at the Pine Grove Cemetery
in Waterville. Arrangements are by Gallant Funeral Home of Waterville.
William E. Oliver
LEEDS — William E. "Bill" Oliver, 70, of Leeds, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at his home in Leeds following a long illness.
He was born April 10, 1930, the son of Wesley S. and Ruby May (Reid) Oliver, and attended Detroit schools. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Air Force.
He married Bertha Searles, June 4, 1988.
He worked as a lumberman for several years and was a truck driver for most of his life, retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha, of Leeds; a son, Donald Oliver, of Chesterville; a daughter, Lois Ann Smiley, of Chesterville; a brother, Frederick Oliver, of Virginia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Lawrence, of Industry, and Joe, of Strong.
Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 2, at the Adams Funeral Home, 3 Court St., Farmington.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Christner officiating. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery
in Newport.

Clora B. Perkins
ALBION — Clora Bradstreet Perkins, 91, of Albion, died Wednesday evening, May 31, 2000, at the Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville after a long illness.
She was born Sept. 23, 1908, in Palermo, the first of 12 children born to Seth and Ethel (Nelson) Bradstreet. Her family moved to Albion soon after her birth. She graduated from Besse High School in 1926. She went on to earn a teaching certificate from Farmington Normal School (University of Maine at Farmington). She began her teaching career in the one-room schoolhouses in Unity Plantation and Albion. She spent most of her 35 years teaching third grade at the Albion Elementary School, retiring in 1971.
She was a lifetime member of the Albion Parent-Teacher Association. For years she was an active member of the Albion Grange, Albion Senior Citizens and Waldo County Retired Teachers.
During her retirement, she enjoyed doing crewel
needlepoint and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She married Roy Perkins, Sept. 23, 1943; he passed away in March, 1984.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Alberta Macklin and Winnifred Worthing.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ethel Rowe, of Albion; three grandchildren, Karen Rowe, and husband, Jeff Dumouchel, of South Carolina, Paula Rowe, of Albion, and James Rowe Jr., and wife, Marjorie, of Albion; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Morgan Rowe; four sisters, Gwendelyn Purinton, of Falmouth, Lucile Sawlivich, of Albion, Ethelyn Russell, of Winslow, and Virginia Hutchins, of Lubec; five brothers, Frederick Bradstreet, of Saco, Clair Bradstreet, of Palermo, Cecil Bradstreet, of Albion, Donald Bradstreet, of Albion, and Seth Bradstreet, of Newport; many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 2, at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Number 4 Cemetery
in Albion with the Rev. John Wrigglesworth officiating.

George A. Sandy
HARMONY — George A. Sandy, 80, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at a Skowhegan nursing home.
He was born March 29, 1920, in Medway, son of George and Vera (Spinney) Sandy. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1617 in Derry, N.H.
He worked in the steel building trade and was a millwright at Holt & Bugbee Lumber Co. in Tewksbury, Mass.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marion (Jacobson) Sandy, of Harmony; a son, Carlton Sandy, of Allenstown, N.H.; a daughter, Pamela, and her husband, Dennis Brunet, of Derry, N.H.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at the Hillside Cemetery
in Monson with arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home of Guilford.

Elizabeth H. Davis
NORTH ANSON — Elizabeth Hutt Davis, 74, of North Anson, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at the Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.
She was born March 19, 1926, in Salem, Mass., daughter of Edwin and Mary (Smith) Hutt, and graduated from Beverly High School, class of 1943.
She married William H. Davis III, Nov. 23, 1946, in Beverly, Mass.
She had been a resident of North Anson for the past 10 years and previously lived in Woodstock, Conn., and Ipswich, Mass.
She was a member of the Arnold Trail Post 8934, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, William H. Davis III, of North Anson; daughter, Leslie Ann Daly, of North Reading, Mass., and son, Peter E. Davis, of Beverly; six grandchildren, Tyler, Meryn and Dana Daly, of North Reading, Allison, Sean and Timothy Davis, of Beverly, Mass.; three sisters, Eileen M. Hutt, of Waltham, Mass., Mildred Reid, of Stratham, N.H., and Barbara A. Tilton, of Middleton, Mass.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison.
A private interment service will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery
in Augusta.
