Robert P. Butler Sr.
ST. ALBANS — Robert P. Butler Sr., 61, died unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at his St. Albans residence.
He was born in Old Town, Nov. 11, 1938, the son of Ernest D. and Ethel M. (Thompson) Butler Sr.
"Bob" had been employed as a carpenter and a truck driver for many years. For the past 18 years and at the time of his death he was employed at Hartland Tanning Company, in Hartland.
He was married to Marion E. Lawrence Butler, who died July 2, 1996.
Bob loved carpentry and was very particular to have everything just right. He enjoyed
hunting
and being in the outdoors.
Mr. Butler was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Joseph.
He is survived by three sons, Robert Jr., and Susan Butler, of Spencerport, N.Y., Ronald, and Bonnie Butler, of Lexington, S.C., and David T. Butler, of Texas; a stepdaughter, Diane, and Martin Utecht, of Brinnon, Wash.; two brothers, Ernest Jr., and Dottie Butler, and Arthur, and Marilyn Butler, both of Hartland; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
At his request, there are no public visiting hours. A public graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at St. Albans Village Cemetery, with Pastor Al H. Wordon officiating.
Arrangements are in the care of Brown Funeral Home, 24 High St., Newport.
Gretchen D. Feely
YORK, Pa. — Gretchen Diehl Feely, 86, of York Lutheran Retirement Village at Sprenkle Drive, in West Manchester Township, York, Pa., died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at York Hospital.
She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., Sept. 27, 1914, the daughter of A. Rudolf and Marguerite (Halbin) Diehl, and was a 1932 graduate of William Penn Senior High School.
Mrs. Diehl received her bachelor's degree from Penn State University in 1936.
She was a former home economics teacher and managed the cafeteria at the former Phineas Davis Junior High School for six years.
Mrs. Feely was a member of First Presbyterian Church in York, and Junior League of York, was on the board of directors of Children's Home of York, where she served as vice-president and program chair, was a member of American Association of University Women, member of the committee that established Child Guidance Center of York, was on the board of directors of Mental Health Center of York, which is now part of York Hospital, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen A. Feely.
Mrs. Feely is survived by sons, Joseph A. Feely, of Waterville, and Stephen A. Feely Jr., of York; a granddaughter, Lydia B. Feely, of Wiscasset, Maine; grandson, Spencer C. Feely, of San Francisco, Calif.; and sister, Barbara Spangler, of York.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at John Calvin Memorial Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 225 East Market St., York, Pa., with Rev. Dr. John E. Morgan officiating. A private burial will be in Memorial Garden of First Presbyterian Church in York.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Children's Home of York, 77 Shoe House Road, York, Pa. 17402, Lutheran Social Services, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., York, Pa. 17404, or First Presbyterian Church, 225 East Market St., York, Pa. 17403.

Phyllis L. Dolloff
FARMINGTON — Phyllis L. Dolloff, of Bellaire Road, Livermore Falls, died late Monday evening, Nov. 13, 2000, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.
She was the daughter of Bernal and Helen Lake, and was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School.
In her early years, she worked weekends and vacations at Monk's Variety Store and Glen's Restaurant in Livermore Falls. After graduation, she worked for many years at Life Cut Rite Drug Store in Livermore Falls.
She married Richard Dolloff and worked along with her husband at Star Shoe Store in Livermore Falls, which they owned and operated for many years.
Mrs. Dolloff also enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family.
Her husband, "Mickey" passed away Dec. 30, 1997.
Phyllis was a member of Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church, in Livermore Falls.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, and counted cross-stitch.
Phyllis was predeceased by a brother, Norman Lake, and a sister, Minola Bubier.
Mrs. Dolloff is survived by a son, Kert R. Dolloff, and his wife, Regina, of Fairfield; a daughter, Linda Jean, and her husband, Kevin Soucy, of Manchester, N.H.; five grandchildren, Sadie, Kristi and Jonathan Dolloff, and Andrew and Brice Soucy; two brothers, Kenneth and Elmer Lake; and a sister, Maxine Bailey.
A graveside service for family and close firends will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Livermore Falls.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Dolloff's memory to Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church, Church Street, Livermore Falls.
Arrangements are under the direction of Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls.
Edward F. Patterson Jr.
PITTSFIELD — Edward F. Patterson Jr., 44, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at 61 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.
He was born July 19, 1956, in Waterville, the son of Edward F. and Alice (Shaw) Patterson.
Edward graduated from Maine Central Institute and attended Los Angeles City College.
Survivors include his parents, of Pittsfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Carol Patterson, of Ames, Iowa, and Gregg and Elaine Patterson, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two nephews, Michael Patterson, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dana Patterson, of Houston, Texas; very special cousins, Paullette and Richard Stoddard, of Pittsfield, Jane and Holly Miles, and Ronnie Rollins, all of Pittsfield, and Mark Young, of Sanford; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.
Arrangements are under the direction of D.H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, Pittsfield.
Vera Mae Carpenter
PITTSFIELD — Vera Mae Carpenter, 78, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield.
She was born March 19, 1922, in Augusta, Ga., the daughter of Nathan Jackson and Anna May (Balknight) Kirby.
Vera graduated from the University of California, school of licensed practical nursing.
She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at Scott-Webb Memorial Hospital in Hartland, Chandler Nursing Home in Pittsfield and Wakefield Nursing Home in Whitman, Mass.
Vera was a member of First Baptist Church of Pittsfield.
She was predeceased by brothers, Frederick, Jake and Nathan Kirby Jr., and sisters, Lucille Gunning, and Susie Bell Walters.
Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Armstrong, of Loogootee, Ind., and Mrs. Russell (Dorothy) Haynes, of Pittsfield; 10 nieces, 10 nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews, and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at First Baptist Church of Pittsfield.
Arrangements are under the direction of D.H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, Pittsfield.
Donna M. Allen
CHINA — Donna Marie Allen, 44, of China, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, Nov. 12, 2000, at an Augusta hospital.
She was born in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of Elmore Allen and Ethel Booth, and attended Camden-Rockport High School.
Donna was a graduate of Mid-State College, with a secretarial science degree.
She was a former member of the Somerville Ladies Auxiliary.
Donna enjoyed researching family geneology, doing crossword puzzles and country and western dancing.
Her greatest love was spending time with her granddaughter, Marsades Curit, of China. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, and being with her animals.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Charity Leigh Curit, in 1974 and her mother, Ethel Booth Allen, in 1991.
Survivors include her daughter, Christie Curit, of China; her father, Elmore Allen, of Rockland; her ex-husband and friend, Lawrence Curit, of Rockport; a brother, Owen Allen, of Belfast; three sisters, Doreen Beerman, of Rockland, Dorothy Seekins, of Hope, and Daisy Allen, of Rockland; a special friend, Nancy Curit, of Albion; two nieces, five nephews, five great-nephews and cousins.
There will be no visiting hours.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield.
James J. Scheid
WINDSOR — James Joseph Scheid, 58, of Windsor Neck Road, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Maine Veterans Home in Augusta, after a brief illness.
Born in New York City, July 12, 1942, he was the son of James Chester and Katherine J. (Higby) Sheid.
After graduating from high school in New York, Jim served as a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps just prior to the start of the Vietnam War.
He served 25 years on the New York City Police Dept., retiring as a sergeant.
He moved to Windsor from Long Island, N.Y., in 1990 and was an avid
hunter
and fisherman.
Surviving are his mother, Katherine Scheid, and her husband, Al, of Windsor; three sons, Kevin Scheid, Steven Scheid and Scott Scheid, all of Long Island, N.Y.; a brother, John V. Scheid, of Windsor; a sister, Dorothy V. Murphy, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; several grandchildren; nephews and nieces, James C. Scheid, of Windsor, Heather M. Scheid, of Caribou, and Michael Murphy and Brian Murphy, both of New York.
Visiting hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Gray & Pratt Funeral Home, Windsor Neck Road, Windsor.
No public service is planned, and interment will be held at the convenience of the family, in New York.
