Barbara Louise Tilton
1956-2003
WATERVILLE — Barbara Louise Tilton, 47, died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
She was born in Freedom on March 16, 1956, the daughter of Ocie and Barbara (Warren) Tilton.
She had been a resident of Waterville for many years where she was a member of High Hopes and the Waterville Social Club.
She is predeceased by her father, Ocie Tilton.
Surviving are a sister, Hilda Robinson, and her husband, Merlin, of Oakland; a brother, William Arthur Bolduc, of Fairfield; a half-sister, Barbie Bolduc of Waterville; a half-brother Robert Bolduc Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 7 at Lewis Cemetery, Cottle Road in Oakland. Arrangements are by Wheeler Funeral Home of Oakland.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hilda Robinson, 19 Hill St., Apt. 18, Oakland.
Beulah A. Bates
PALMYRA — Beulah A. Bates, 76, of Palmyra, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at a Bangor health-care facility following a long illness.
She was born Nov. 26, 1923, in Cambridge, daughter of Simeon and Lucy Ann (Treat) Wilder, and attended Cambridge schools.
For many years, she was employed as a "fixer" at several local shoe shops.
Beulah married Herbert J. Bates. He died in 1984.
She loved working around her Badgaboro Road farm. She and her husband liked to camp and see more of Maine.
Survivors include three sons, Norman H. Bates, of Athens, Leslie R. Bates, of Windsor Locks, Conn., Herbert J. Bates II, of Palmyra; a daughter, Darlene J. Randlett, of Hermon; 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She will also be remembered by a sister-in-law, Beverly Wilder, of Palmyra.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Charlette; a grandson, Herbert III; a brother, Morris, and two sisters, Doris and Ivis.
Private visiting hours for immediate family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Brown Funeral Home, 24 High St., Newport.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Palmyra Village Cemetery.
Lorraine M. Grassette
MADISON — Lorraine M. Grassette, 69, of Madison, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Maine Medical Center in Portland following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 5, 1931, in Rumford, daughter of Marguerite Patrie and Wilfred Grassette.
She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, of Madison.
Lorraine loved life and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and Kitty Grassette, and Roland and Bonnie Grassette, all of Rumford; five nieces, three nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews, and a longtime friend, Phyllis McQuarrie, of Madison.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Norman Grassette.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Madison. A graveside service will be held later at St. John's Cemetery, Rumford.
Raymond A. Hilton
NORRIDGEWOCK — Raymond A. Hilton, 67, of Norridgewock, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.
He was born Feb. 13, 1933, in Norridgewock, son of Maurice S. and Ruby (Lynds) Hilton, and graduated from Madison High School, class of 1951.
He married Geraldine Phillips on Sept. 14, 1951. She died March 31, 1992.
He was owner and operator of Raymond A. Hilton Trucking, and hauled pulp wood and logs for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He instilled a tremendous work ethic into his children.
Survivors include four sons, Alan Hilton, and wife, Elaine, of Mercer, Richard Hilton, and wife, Jeannette, of Norridgewock, Bruce Hilton, of Alaska, and Gary Hilton, and wife, Annette, of Norridgewock; three daughters, Pamela Leo, and husband, James, of Skowhegan, Cynthia Clark, of Skowhegan, Linda Smith, and husband, Jeffery, of Norridgewock; a brother, Leslie Hilton, of Skowhegan, and a sister, Peggy Walker, of Albion; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Sandy Hallman, of Norridgewock.
He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine, and a sister, Noreene Landry.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Sunset View Cemetery
in Norridgewock, with the Rev. George Finnemore officiating.

Etta B. Ingalls
FAIRFIELD — Etta Belle Ingalls, 85, of Fairfield, died early Saturday morning, May 6, 2000, at Pleasant Heights Nursing Home in Fairfield.
She was born Feb. 22, 1915, in Wells, daughter of Erving and Nina Stuart.
She was formerly a member of the Winslow Baptist Church and Waterville's Martha Washington Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Bradley Ingalls, of Oakland; a sister, Sylvia Springer, of Eliot; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
There will be no public visiting hours and a memorial service will be held later. Burial will be made in Danville, Vt. Arrangements are by Gallant Funeral Home of Waterville.
Doris Jolicoeur
WATERVILLE — A memorial Mass for Doris Jolicoeur, who died Feb. 1, 2000, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pleasant Street, Waterville.
An open house and celebration of her life will be held at her daughter's home at 4 South St., Waterville, after the Mass.
Lillian A. Koehler
WATERVILLE — Lillian A. Koehler, 89, of Waterville and formerly of Newark, N.J., died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at a Waterville nursing home.
She was born April 16, 1911, in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late William A. and Anna (Honig) Bescherer, and attended New Jersey schools.
She married Hellmuth Koehler. He died Sept. 30, 1995.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling and crocheting. She attended a Baptist church in Newark.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann L. Hines, and husband, Donald, of Palermo; a sister, Priscilla Dettloff, of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Diane Haskell, and husband, Doug, of Palermo, Donald Hines, and wife, Ann, of Albion, Glen Hines, and wife, Cathy, of Fairfield, Gail Hines, of Palermo, Harry Andren and Barbara Andren, both of Toms River, N.J., and Debbie Clark, of Riverside, Calif.; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Helen Andren; two brothers and three sisters.
Visiting hours were held Monday, May 8, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. Burial will be made later at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, N.J.
Frances S. Luddy
AUGUSTA — Frances S. Luddy, 96, of Augusta, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation, Graybirch Drive, Augusta.
She was born Jan. 8, 1904, in Roxbury, Mass., daughter of Henri Walton and Florence (Hodgdon) Smith, and attended schools in West Somerville, Mass., and Hallowell, graduating from Hallowell High School in 1921. She attended Shaw's Business School in Augusta, graduating in 1922.
She was employed for 10 years as a bookkeeper at the H.G. Barker Clothing Store, spent 16 years at Bates Manufacturing as a bookkeeper, 17 years as a stenographer for the Maine Milk Commission, and three years in the state Budget & Finance office at the State House, retiring in 1972.
Frances was a member since 1938 of Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, Augusta, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 15 years, member of the diaconate, Grace Missionary Guild, a charter member of the Mother's Club and a member of the Galbraith Group.
She was predeceased by her sister, Halice Sutter.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara F. Olson, and husband, Paul, of Waterville; five grandchildren, Cheryl Brown, of Manchester, N.H., Karen Bartlett, of Norwich, Conn., Paula Olson, of Waterville, Eric Olson, of Manchester, N.H., and Marie-Anne Olson, of Oceanside, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Kimberly Bartlett, Nathan Bartlett, Ehren Brown and Garrett Olson; two nieces, Althea Sutter and Yvonne Low; and many friends.
By her request, there will be no visiting hours.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, Grove Street, Augusta, with the Rev. Dr. S. Robert Beaumont officiating. Arrangements are by Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, of Augusta.

Madeline M. Marshall
WATERVILLE — Madeline M. Marshall, 78, died Monday morning, May 8, 2000, at Lakewood Manor nursing home following a long illness.
She was born March 23, 1922, in Waterville, daughter of Andrew and Amanda (Quirion) Cote.
She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Waterville. She was employed by C.F. Hathaway Co. shirt manufacturers in Waterville for 54 years as a seamstress.
After her retirement from Hathaway, Madeline, along with her husband, owned and operated Old Red Barn Antique Shop in Oakland.
She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Marshall, in 1994, and a son, Daniel Marshall, in 1998.
Survivors include three sons, David, and wife, Sara, Marshall, of Fairfield, Bruce, and wife, June, Marshall, of Oakland, and Ronald Marshall, of Oakland; two daughters, Joan, and husband, Tom Bergeron, of Lewiston, and Brenda, and husband, Frank LaDuca, of New York; grandchildren, David Marshall, and wife, Alice, Amanda Marshall, Tina Marshall, Bruce Marshall, Jenney Marshall and Crystal Morgan; nieces, Carmen Magee, Jacqueline Couture, Diane Creso, and a nephew, Roland Quirion.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Quirion and Yvette Foster.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Elm Street, Waterville. Committal prayers and burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville. Arrangements are by Veilleux Funeral Home, of Waterville.
